Received packages here for about 13 years the quality steadily declined. The owner, Jim, listed here quite frequently is exactly how he is portrayed. I wince watching him talk to customers. Anyone treat anyone like that in a work situation like that in Seattle evee. For a while I thought it was funny ish until I finally had it turned on me. Eventually over the course of the summer they lost five packages of mine that were reported as being delivered there, so whatever that means. The final straw was when I had to mail a legal document and unfortunately chose to mail it from there. Even though it went from Seattle to SeaTac it took a month to get there. Every time I would have an issue I just got to shrug and a sort of like apathetic mumbles that it was somebody else's fault. Props to the employees who can actually endure there. One guy has been there the entire time I've been going there and I just feel like holy shit... How can you put up with this environment? Also I hope you like Domino's because this place totally reeks like bad pizza from the Domino's downstairs. Finally found another package sending and receiving spot on the hill that is 25% cheaper and provides all the same services. Never moved on something that fast before! Much happier at the new place and the owner is cheerful and helpful. read more

This is the closest UPS but I've been avoiding it for a year because of the rude customer service. Reading the reviews, it looks like I'm not the only one. It doesn't matter who's working -- Young or old, man or woman, nonbinary... Every time I need to drop a package, they're rude, rolling their eyes, yelling and act as if I'm interrupting them. I had to go in today because the UPS store I now go to which is actually out of my way but they treat customers with a basic hello, was closed. Like I said, ive been avoiding this place for a year and went in today, and nothing changed. There young men were working and the one with the glasses was very rude. I recommend going to the one in Cap Hill or SLU and avoid this one. It'll ruin your day. read more

I use this store because it is the most convenient location for me but every experience is absolutely miserable. As soon as you walk in someone barks at you to use the tablet for dropping off/amazon returns. If you don't want to use it or need another service, they are very clearly annoyed to be helping you. They assume you know everything about shipping, then don't stop talking and rushing you along the process. God forbid you have a question. I've never seen people more miserable to be at work. The first time I thought maybe it was a fluke, but literally every time I've been in, it's sucked. Don't go here if you have another option. read more

I took a package into this store, which was inspected and weighed at 4lb 6.7oz, for domestic shipping. I asked for an appropriately padded box, for a package that was directly inspected by the employee, measuring ~8 x 4 x 8 inches which already had some bubble wrap applied. I was handed a much larger box, 15 x 12 x 10, and didn't think too much of the large size. I filled the box and handed the package over with a lot of padding to fill the space of the box, and was told it would cost $57 ground shipping, which seemed very expensive for a small item. I baulked and asked explicitly why it was so expensive, and was told that it was competitive and normal for shipping across the the US. I asked if there were cheaper options and was told that there were not. The cost appeared excessive, but I paid as I had to ship the item and move on with my day. When I got home and checked the shipping rates online, it became clear that I had been sold a box that could be billed for a volumetric weight of 16 x 13 x 11 (after adding an additional inch to the box), which just tipped me over into the 14lb billable weight category. The employee did not explain to me that the higher cost was based on the much larger box that they had selected and given to me, despite me asking for clarification. I believe that the employee is the franchise owner of this branch (Jim Brown) and it looks exactly like intentional price gouging based on deliberate deception to maximize my shipping cost. If you're going to use this store, I recommend that you print all labels in advance, and do not trust this store to charge you fairly. I have used this store before, and while I've become accustomed to the unpleasant demeanor of this man, I didn't expect this kind of opportunistic behavior. read more

Three stars because such short hours and short staff. This is a busy store in a busy neighborhood. Recently shortened their hours, guessing due to staffing trouble. Bummer. There was one person working there on a busy Thursday 630pm. My service was quick. Want to comment on the couple who came in with a 30lb air conditioner in a huge box (size of a coffin). The lone person working took the time to measure and weigh the box and talk them thru the options (all heinous $$$) and helped them come to the conclusion best to sell the thing on craigslist than to pay shipping to return it. She handled that whole interaction with patience, poise, and professionalism. read more

I had to ship a piece of diving equipment that is larger than your average package. I knew this would be somewhat difficult, since I've had to ship it before. I called the store ahead of time to let them know I was hoping to ship some unusually sized gear and I had a box but needed packing materials. Most UPS stores are happy to provide packing materials for a small fee. On the call, the store's employees said I should bring the equipment in for a packing quote -- fair enough. I told him to expect me within the hour. I walked into the shop 20 minutes later with the equipment and asked about the packing quote. Jim (the manager or owner) greeted me with a series of questions I'd already answered over the phone and told me the only option was to buy individual sheets of bubble wrap for $3-4 each until I filled up the box. The box is nearly three feet long... it would have taken hundreds of dollars worth of bubble wrap to fill it! Of course, they have a massive roll of bubble wrap in the back and loads of packing peanuts, but he insisted the only option was for me to buy individual sheets of bubble wrap. Jim was rude throughout the process and has been quite condescending in the past, for example when I accidentally brought a USPS package in to the shop. This experience was no exception, although this was the first time it became obvious to me they were also trying to overcharge me. I never liked going to this spot, but it was convenient. However, I'm not willing to spend money at a place that's going to try to overcharge me and be rude to me while they do it. I called up the UPS store at the University Village and told them the same stuff on the phone: I'm shipping a large piece of diving equipment, it has no batteries in it whatsoever, and I have a box but I need packing materials. Over the phone, they quoted me $6 to pack it. When I arrived, they clearly knew I was coming and had packing materials ready. I was out the door in 10 minutes having paid $6 for all the packing peanuts and bubble wrap I needed. read more

Well it gets the job done. But the one employee who is always there (looking at others reviews he's possibly the owner) is a complete jerk. I've been in several times and he's always rude. He once told me that this location charges $2 to take the box, when other locations tape the box for you...as they should considering how expensive it is. Today I was trying to tell him that the lot entrance ticket system was down, and he kind of snarkily said it didn't have anything to do with him and that they been really busy all morning. It was about 9:15am, they open at 9am, and no one was in the die besides me. You'll get your packages mailed but don't expect good customer service. read more

If you are an egomaniac who wants retail workers to suck up to you without question, maybe don't come here -- they will not pull any punches. Sometimes my experience here is painless, more often it is painful. When I was purchasing a couple file boxes, they apparently only had one lid left. They brought me out another well-used lid and offered it to me. "if you don't mind having a lid that's already been put together!" I had a package shipped to this location. They looked for it and couldn't find it and told me to get back in touch with the shipper. I did. Sure enough tracking the package revealed it arrived and was signed for. So I went back and they "found it hidden behind another package." Several of the employees always look like they just woke up or wish that you weren't there. If you have to do business here once in a while, just deal with it.. but if you anticipate regular UPS use, then I would suggest another location. read more

Years ago I swore off this location after I walked in and witnessed whom I assume to be the franchise owner, Jim, belittling an employee in front of his customers. This guy is real piece of work. Unfortunately, I got another chance to work with Jim today after he personally, not one of his employees, ripped off my wife. She wanted to return slippers she purchased and she asked him the cheapest method of shipping. He put the slippers in a box, filled it with bubble wrap (why do slippers in a box need bubble wrap), and charged her $20 to ship UPS ground in 5 days to Illinois. She asked if USPS would be a better option because UPS stores offer USPS, and he replied, "Yeah. If you want to spend more money." I drove there and told him I wanted a full refund. I told him she asked for the cheapest method and it shouldn't cost $20. He told me that it wouldn't be that much cheaper with USPS, maybe $15 and he didn't charge her for packaging. Well Jim, USPS priority envelopes are free and the shipping is cheaper. I got the slippers, drove 3 blocks to a USPS, put them in a priority envelope, and shipped them for $13 with 2 day shipping. It is only $7, but it is the principle. Stealing is stealing, and this guy is a thief who over packages items and overcharges his customers. read more

This place is hit or miss depending on who is working. Have had some good experiences and enough unpleasant ones that I try to avoid it if I can. Today, for example, I needed a document notarized. Checked their website before going to make sure they offered the service at that location. They do (theoretically). When I arrived I was told they couldn't do notary services today because they were short-staffed. There were two people working and I was literally the only other person in the store. read more

This is my first Yelp review ever- I too swore off ever going back to that location because the negative experiences with the old man Jim were so memorable. Today I stupidly went there out of geographic convenience for an Amazon return. I suspect he overcharges people and enjoys putting people down. He does everything possible to make you feel like you're an idiot and bothering him even in an empty store at 9 am. "condescending, snarky, unhelpful" accurately describes his demeanor. I'd rather drive across town like the nice one is Issaquah which is pleasant and super handy just to avoid the rude man. Jim needs to retire and let the place be run by his nice employees. read more

I don't like to write negative reviews because I believe that everyone, including managers, are entitled to an "off-day". However, after reading other posts, and more importantly, talking to my friends who have had similar experiences, I really must question the mental state of manager Jim. Jim is a sad person and a horrible representative of UPS, a company that has built a stellar reputation over the past century by serving its customers with integrity, professionalism and reliability. To keep it brief, he refused a simple request of sending a prepaid shipping box and encouraged me to go to the competition, all the while whining about how stressed he is and asking me what line of work I am in. He then started yelling and bragging about how he has the most profitable UPS store in the Pacific Northwest. I went to the other UPS Store location on North Broadway and they handled my request in five minutes, like bosses! I like that this UPS store has a parking lot. My past few visits have been pleasant. There are a few team members that have been working there regularly, at this location, who are very efficient and always very nice and cheerful. I find that there are usually at least 3 people working there - so the line tends to move quickly. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID. This is ridiculous. In reading through other reviews, it seems it was the owner who helped me. I have seen him in there every time I've gone in so I guess this is not a 'one employee' problem, it's a 'top down' issue. I sold something on Ebay which I never do but in this case, was the best way to get rid of something valuable that I didn't need/want. It was totally my bad assuming it's affordable to get something packed there - it's not- to get that 'we'll pay if we break it' guarantee. I had a fairly large, heavy item (70lbs, as big as 4 bread boxes as they say) so I expected it'd be not cheap but not $50 for a box and bubble wrap. Then the shipping was also exorbitant and while that's not this business's fault, what is their fault is the fact I got a receipt and tracking number as I gulped down my regret at paying almost $200 for shipping and packing, I left the store. What I didn't realize was that.... the tracking number.... was.... not found. Not in the system, what package lady? W T F? How can you generate a packing number that UPS can't see/track/tell me where it is? Two days later, when I did finally reach them, I was rudely told it doesn't show up yet because it's ground. Would have been cool if the owner told me that when I paid for it and he offered me the tracking info so I could have told the buyer. Oh, and the super fun part is trying to call the store. Do it, try... I'll hold on... Did you press 9 to talk to someone which just immediately put the menu back on to press 9 to talk to someone? Like not even a second went by? Or did you press 1 and get disconnected every time? Which did you pick? I tried them all. I even accessed the secret menu (like with animal fries but worse) and pressed 0. I was told they were busy naturally and I think it offered to take a message before it cut me off and hung up on me again. I then tried UPS directly in chat, they said my only option is to go into the business to sort it out as they have no record of my transaction. WOW. I finally got through to the store in the evening, the woman who answered was really rude like I should have known how this all worked, well, now I do, and it doesn't work for me. read more

The owner of this location is an asshole. Not only does he aggressively misgender me every time I go in, but he always complains to me about trying to use the services he offers. UPS drivers never want to actually do their damn job in delivering my packages so I have set my UPS account up to automatically deliver my packages here instead - as I live less than a block away - but every time I go in to pick the package up he complains to me about about how he doesn't want to offer that service. Listen, buddy, I wish I didn't have to use that service but you're the one who offers it in the first place! Anyway. I hate this UPS location and I also hate UPS in general. read more

I don't often have good experiences getting things delivered, and UPS is no exception to this. My H&M package was at a service center, and initially they said like, call H&M and have them reroute the package to send straight to you, and I was like, that's ridiculous, H&M has already shipped it, it's outta their hands, and i mean, you're a service center, YOU reroute it. Terrible system, terrible remedying process. But one employee at this location stayed with me on this the whole way. He 3-way called the service center with me, we got a head-somebody on the phone to get to do the most practical thing and send it to me... AND THEY STILL didn't. Apparently the drivers are separate from UPS?? No idea. Driver never even tried to deliver it. Put a doortag saying hey pick it up tomorrow. UPS IS TERRIBLE. But hurrah for employees who are are kinda aware of this. read more

Generally, I love UPS stores and are always my goto for printing and shipping. I have been to about a dozen UPS stores across many states and have never had any issues. People are usually friendly and are always trying to help me through my problems. At this store, though I had a different experience. One of the most useful features of UPS stores is the fact that you can send prepaid shipping labels to them via email and they will print and tape it on for you. Every store I've been to will do this for you but the guy behind the counter was not only confused about what I was talking about but was also a bit rude about it. This doesn't really make a whole ton of sense to me. I feel like stores with branded names have a set of features and services they offer. If certain stores don't offer the same services it becomes confusing if they are all branded the same way. Anyways, I have never had any issues with UPS stores, but I recommend avoiding this particular store since I wouldn't even qualify it as being one. There are many others nearby in Seattle that will do a MUCH better job. read more

First off, it's not good business to assume someone entering knows the package policies. I came in to ship a birthday present to a former housemates 3yo. I don't ship packages often, so I was clueless and happy to find the employee was helpful, directing me (or so I thought) through the process. However, when the package returned to the store because they were "unable to deliver it" it became clear that there was a signature requirement. I never asked for or wanted a signature requirement - I lived there before, I know how packages were delivered and a signature would cause problems. So I called to get this shipped again and expressed my displeasure at not being told of this before. The person on the phone was absolutely the most condescending human I've spoken with, kept going on about how the automatic requirement is "common knowledge and most people get offended if we tell them so we don't." He treated me like an imbecile for being unfamiliar with something that he had no reason to believe I would be. But in the end he offered to "with his own money" ship it back out without a signature - but "now you know." Should stop there, but the kicker is he then decided to make sure I knew "it wasn't their fault if the package got stolen now." That's fair, but the weird thing is he decided to make sure to tell me this THREE TIMES before we got off the phone. As you can guess, the package never once arrived. One could argue that the package got stolen but the kicker here is, I used to live there. It's a house. Surrounded by gates. It was designed and built by a police family for ultimate security - it's not that it got lost or stolen, it's that it never got sent. Props to you, UPS store employee. You just ruined a 3yo child's birthday present for your pettiness. 0 Stars. read more

OMG! If I could give 1/2 a star I would. Jim the manager is rude to his employees and demanded I tell him what was in my packages I was shipping. I said Christmas gift and continued to want to know exactly. This went on for awhile and finally made something up telling him it was hats and tee shirts...not. Very condescending. Never going back. The post office is better and delivers quicker. Only reason I went here because the post office is closed on Sundays. No wonder this place gets only two stars. read more

They've been awesome at keeping my property safe when not picked up on time and have a super accessible private mailbox system open 7 days a week. Go to any UPS Store but this one. Went here to get something notarized. The man did not properly notarize the document, only completing half of the document, despite us asking him to notarize several pages, he said he did not need to notarize the rest. When we realized that he did indeed need to notarize the pages he refused to stamp, we and went back for a refund (we ended up doing it at the bank and they did it properly), the owner blamed us for the mistake. Not only that, but he yelled at me the entire time, shouting "no, no, no" every time I tried to explain the issue. I've never had such an unprofessional experience at a UPS. read more
