So I'm a person that feels they should be able to repackage and return unwanted or mistaken items like a big kid, but I have come to face the reality is that it likely just won't happen, so I go here, a hop, skip and a jump away from my house and although I pay more than if I did it myself and took it to a mailbox, what I get in return is most pleasant assistance with whatever needs returning and the knowledge that almost anything else postal-related that might crop up in the moment that I need, they've got my back. I love that it's got most everything you'd need, but small enough that you get that extra personal touch that one just can't take for granted these days. Wow, does this place understand customer service! I was encountering an issues with the price & and packaging from THE UPS store and decided to seek an alternative option. I made a call after reviewing YELP pages and went in. Since it's a few miles from my home I had never gone in. So after making my call I drove in. He packed in the perfect box and added some filler in so no damage would happen which is always appreciated. After all was said and done he saved me $120 ! I was completely blown away. The staff is friendly and professional, it is unfortunate that I cannot recommend working with them. But, they have lost 2 packages of mine. One, a couple years ago that was $2k+ in value and a second one more recently. After the first package was lost, I stopped bringing packages to them. I tried again recently, and as we speak am waiting to see what USPS says about the package status because it has been 8+ business days with no scan. There is a table for you to leave packages to be picked up by the respective shipper. But what John, the owner, does not tell you, is that he takes no responsibility for those packages being scanned and ultimately ending up at their end destination. Essentially, you are dropping packages off here, with no receipt and really no guarantee that they're going to get where they're supposed to go. You're probably saying to yourself, how come I left a $2000 package on the table at a random mailbox store in West Seattle, without it being insured, etc? And I own that, and I ended up paying for it. I take responsibility for that. But I guess that's the thing, I take responsibility for it whereas John doesn't. All that being said, I think if you pay them for the shipping on site, that's a different story, I think with that you can be confident in the items getting together they're supposed to go. But, I would not suggest dropping packages off here, I would just take them to the respective shipper directly, getting the receipt to ensure delivery is more likely. read more

If you want a fair price for mailing, do not go to this business. My daughter had a 1 pound 5 ounce package mailed to me. She requested it be sent overnight. It was sent UPS Ground, at a price of $70.40. The package arrived 4 days later, 1 day after they said it would arrive. I called them to see if they could explain why sending a package of this weight at a ground rate would be so expensive. They essentially said that my daughter chose this rate. So they said she chose the most expensive and slowest rate. She said she requested the quickest rate. My belief is that they did not adequately communicate the options to her. I went to the USPS to see how much it would cost, which this company also claims to use. The USPS quoted me $58.60 for Priority Mail Express (overnight) and $13.20 Ground (3 days). The price Mailbox West charged, as well as how long it took to arrive, was outrageous. read more

I've used them before for shipping and they're nice. However, I tried to get a document notarized (a POA for my brother who is selling my recently-deceased mother's condo) and the notary there refused to notarize the document unless I provided proof of my 1/8 ownership of the condo. Which means he doesn't even fundamentally understand what a notary's job is. My brothers, who are both lawyers, were flabbergasted. It was an enormous pain finding another notary at the last minute after waiting 2 days to meet this guy. Avoid if you need notary services. read more

I had a good time at Mailbox West. It is a smaller version of Mailboxes Etc. The person who was working there was extremely nice and professional. You can rent a mailbox, ship packages (UPS, FedEx, USPS), buy stamps, etc. They also have a copy machine and do document services (printing, scanning, etc). I have a job interview coming up and I needed to print, sign, and scan a document. However, because of Coronavirus, I've been working from home and don't have access to a printer or scanner. Also, since the West Seattle Bridge is closed, I don't feel like driving very far from my home. Anyways, I was really happy that I was able to do everything I needed at Mailbox West. Very nice people at this location but very expensive to ship anything Fed Ex from here. I paid $85.00 to ship an envelope "express saver" which won't even arrive until next week and not guaranteed by then. I thought that was crazy but I paid it anyway because it was important. I later looked at the Fedex website and found that it was much cheaper to go to the Fedex office down near Costco. I'm very glad I found this business because I wanted a mailbox as well as a mail forwarding service so I have all my mail in one place since I have a lot of roommates and can't depend on them to get me my mail when I'm out of town. The employee that worked with me was super and walked me quickly through the forms all while a bunch of packages were getting dropped off and picked up at the same time. I would have gone with a 1-star, however, I feel I also came in on an off day..... Although, given my situation that I will explain below, I would never have been helped at this business. I came in to ship an item on a FedEx business account. I often use the main FedEx location at 651 S. Alaska St., because there are never any surprises there. Given that; I live in the area and found this location on FedEx.com and thought it would be more convenient than driving to SoDo, I should have relied on my earlier comment; "that there are never any surprises at the main FedEx ship center." Upon entering, I was asked if I had ever shipped there before. I replied 'no' and produced a piece of paper with an address and a FedEx account number. I was immediately told that they do not ship on FedEx account numbers?!?!?!?!? I asked 'why' and was told again that they do not use FedEx account numbers to ship packages..... I mean; why the hell have an account with FedEx, or furthermore why would this place advertise they ship for FedEx if they don't take FedEx account numbers. The conversation spun around and around with a flat refusal to ship the package. So, I will not be going back. I am sure it is a great place if you have; cash, card, or a check. Maybe call them before heading there... But, know; you will not be shipping anything FedEx if you plan to use a FedEx account number..... Cheers.... read more

I attempted to open a mailbox for the second time to no avail. In December I attempted to do so, but was told to return because after Christmas due to staff apparently being overwhelmed with demands of holiday shipping. Today, I waited patiently for over 15 minutes to register again. The store had one staff member attending to customers. After inquiring about opening a mailbox, the gentleman behind the counter told me others in line were waiting to mail items, and suggested I return later, apparently overwhelmed with working in a mailbox business. If I weren't so frustrated, I'd find it ironic: a mailbox business in Seattle unable to accommodate a request to open a mailbox. As a small business owner, I try to support my peers. I can not say enough great things about this place. The owners are friendly, knowledgeable, professional and always willing to help. They offer numerous services that the Morgan Junction can use such as package drop off for UPS, USPS and FedEx (a huge help for returning Amazon packages). Employees seem unfamiliar with international postage and proper classification. They were going to charge me $25 for an envelope with printed matter (which they classified as a "package") to Asia (and were even unclear if that would go by air or boat!). I took my business to the Trenton PO and was charged $7.90. I know that Mailbox West charges more, but 3 times more is unrealistic! Owner and employees need to familiarize themselves with all types of mail and postage. Nice people, but not knowledgeable. read more

Wonder why USPS is loosing more and more business? The internet is taking a big chunk but when the USPS brings below average customer service, higher rates, and language barriers it's no wonder why places like Mailbox West comes and reaps the benefits. I was told to come in for my small USPS box and when I get there somehow they all were rented. So I drive 5 minutes to Mailbox West, get quality service, a mailbox, and out the door in less than 10 minutes. The only two thing I didn't like was there was not a shorter minimum time such as 1-month service which I only needed a PMB until I found a place so having a 3-month min is a bit much so took one star off for that. Also a HUGE thing to remember... if you forward your mail to a PMB you cannot forward mail then to a new address from this address. You will have to either put the address BEFORE the PMB as your old address or after canceling your PMB have to contact each person, business, etc with the new address. Overall, fast, efficient, and friendly service is less and less received nowadays so when I get that kind of service I will be back. read more

For reference the library charges $.15 per sheet, So you can imagine my shock when I went to pick up the print And they told me it was $2.20!!! Another notary flop with John McPayne, Jr. He demanded that we bring the documents ahead of time to review. I did that and he said it is okay to come back at 5pm. We came at 5pm, waiting for him to finish and then he refused to notarize because the party signing the document needed my interpretation. He said he cannot notarize for people who cannot understand him. I said what are those people supposed to do. He just shrug his shoulders. But he is wrong, as his job is to verify the person signing the document is the person who is in front of him. His job is not to make sure the person understand what they are signing, he is not a lawyer, nor a judge nor a policeman. He has totally abused his 'power' entrusted to him by the State to discriminate against an elderly foreign person who tried in broken English to tell him what is she signing. Such a shame, I will never walk into this place again. read more

I have had my mail at this location for over 15 years. Mailbox West took it over from Olsen's Pharmacy a dozen years ago now I believe. I wasn't suret the service would be as good but it is. There is 24 hour access to my mailbox, they always call me if I have a package, they are always pleasant and efficient. I have absolutely no complaints (nope, not even one).
