Two stars is being nice. The workers here never ever smile. They never have eye contact, or even try to look at you. This location is convenient to my home so I come here more often than to the main one. There is always a line and the line is "molasses slow" . So keep that in mind! The only treat is afterwards, walk over to Petitgrain for a pastry!! There is a free parking lot behind, with a man who guards the lot. He always gives me the "stink eye", but I show him my letters or package and he backs off. Otherwise, there is metered parking. read more

I had a very uncomfortable experience at this USPS location. After an incident in the parking lot with two other customers try to walk directly into my car to be hit intentionally. After they started yelling at me so I let them know I have a dashcam to prove that it seemed intentional and planned. The individuals followed me into the post office and began yelling at me while I was trying to mail my package. I repeatedly asked them to stop speaking to me, but they continued to raise their voices and one of them got very close to me while I was at the counter. What was most disappointing was that the employees working at the front counter did not intervene or ask the individuals to stop causing a disturbance. As a customer, I did not feel supported or safe while trying to conduct my business. Additionally, when it was my turn to be helped, one employee stated that his computer was down and directed me to another clerk. Immediately afterward, I observed that same employee assisting the other customers involved in the altercation, which left me feeling uncomfortable and concerned about how the situation was handled. When you observe the situation it seems pretty discriminatory/ racist. I understand that difficult situations can arise, but I believe staff should step in when customers are being harassed inside the facility to help maintain a safe and professional environment. read more

The people working here are genuinely nice. Friendly. Warm. Laughing. Chit chatting. Having a great time. That would be awesome if it didn't take 20 minutes to get through a short line because one customer turned into a full blown hangout session. I get it. Human connection is great. But this is the post office, not a coffee shop or a reunion. People are on lunch breaks. People have work. People have other places to be. Move it along. Be friendly and efficient. These are not mutually exclusive concepts. If you want to socialize, amazing. If you want to run a government service people rely on, maybe hurry up. read more

I never leave bad reviews, but the amount of time I had to wait just to return a package was unreasonable. I had to wait in line twice, because a mistake on my end the first time, but I expected them to call me to the front of line the second time (like they've done at every other USPS i've visited) but no. I've been to a lot of usps stores and the 2 ladies I've encountered several times are always kind, patient and helpful. I overhear the stupid questions being asked to them all day and they're always professional and they're always helpful. Most post office workers. I encounter have a personality of a sandwich. These two lovely ladies are pretty funny and have a great personalities. I haven't sent a to Canada in over a year and completely forgot, I was helpless and Coco was kind and extremely patient and super helpful about the best way to ship it. The other lady "I forgot her name, I'm sorry" checked me out and like a teacher she had to check my work and hand it back to correct it. Stupid stuff that I should've caught with my eyes but didn't. She was nice and also patient with helping this grown a$$ adult fix her paperwork. This is by far my favorite USPS to visit when I need to send something out and I live in the valley . read more

Today February 12th 2025 at around 10:30 a.m. there were two women working there and there was a long line. Both women had real attitudes and were nasty. Incredibly unprofessional and one woman who was supposedly helping me was gabbing to the other woman who was working there and just saying all kinds of nasty things. I didn't know if it was towards me or towards someone else because I couldn't tell but it was very unprofessional. When I was ready to leave I said thank you just to be polite and the woman just looked at me and said mhm and stared at me with this dark,angry, negative energy. Yuck! I left the date of when this happened and I hope if there is a supervisor that they can talk to these women. Or let them go because they don't know how to give customer service. read more

Usually I have a good experience with the people who work at this USPS but I have never experienced such a rude woman as this shorter dark haired woman who worked Sept 10 at 2:30pm. All I had was a drop off, didn't need to speak to anyone, door was wide open so i went in. Just needed to put tape which I brought with me. I have never been so rudely shoo'd out so she could take lunch. If it was lunch, close the door first, I'd come back. But to not let me put the package on the counter and to repeatedly yell at me to get out, this woman does not deserve to work at a place with customers. I recommend someone speak with her, because the other employees there are kind, regardless of the tough customers I'm sure they get. USPS is still the best deal in town, where else can you send a letter across the country for about $.75 ! This is a pretty small location and can be super busy or just about empty. Traffic comes and goes in waves. Super friendly staff inside. Although, occasionally you get someone in a "mood." There is the big branch off 17th St. where your mail goes when it can't be delivered (like signature required). Often times it will sit there until getting delivered back to smaller locations. read more

Came in today 1/29/2026 to pick up a money order for my rent. I did so between 10:15-11 am. There was a bigger lady in the center cash register and a skinnier lady on the right register. The lady in the center is the one I dealt with. I have for the last 10 months used my debit card to get a money order over a thousand dollars here and today for some reason I didn't go through. So I called the bank. The bank told me the woman was charging it through as a withdrawal not a debit. I told the lady it was something that she was doing and it should work. I told her I had been coming to this location for almost a year, every single month to pick the same amount for my rent every month. Well, she wasn't buying and told me I was sadly mistaken. So I stepped out outraged and looked up my previous purchases there through my bank and went inside and asked "is this 1217 Santa Monica" to which bother the bigger lady and the skinnier lady replied "yes." I continued to prove to them they are both idiots and fix the machine. If this location is hell bent and determined to allow some DEI hire to attempt to gaslight me, then you are sadly mistaken. That bigger lady working the register in the center today on 01/29/2026 should be removed from her job. Rude and disrespectful. Came into this post office at 4:58 and there was a long line. I know that they need to serve everyone who's in the line, so I went to the self-serve to print my mailing label to make it easier for me and the post office workers behind the counter. At this post office there is a counter top where people put their postage-paid items, so that the clerks can take them at their convenience. This practice keeps the lines from growing too long. So I went back to the area where the postal clerks were to put my package on that counter. There were well over 30 packages there, so they obviously had not been collected yet. At this point Coco, one of the clerks, told me it was 2 or 3 minutes after 5; mind you I'd never left the actual building. I explained what I'd done and why and asked if I could put with the other packages. She not only said no, but informed me that if I did put it there, she would "get rid of it." She never expressly said she would throw it away, but this kind of threat must be against some kind of law. I was frustrated at first, but after I left the whole experience freaked me out. There was something sociopathic in the way she made her threat while smiling this patently false smile. She seemed to be taking a great pleasure in causing me inconvenience. I will never drop anything at this post office branch again, because I wouldn't trust them with anything. I'll stick with the branch on Barrington near Sunset. The people there are lovely, knowledgeable, and are excellent at patiently explaining options, in shorter completely different from Coco. I will complain to Post Office as well, but I'm afraid that will be tilting at windmills. At least here people can be warned to avoid this branch at all costs. read more

Worst post office I've been in California. ONE teller ?! One??? I can't leave tho because I need to pay for my mailers. I'm an angelic honest person so won't walk out tho I think they forfeit all rights to decency and honor. Not to mention that it makes the average state mental hospital look plush and luxurious. Employee with basic common sense would be great but I guess that's asking for too much. I bought first class stamps and took a picture of the envelope before handing it back over to the tall Asian guy and he said "I don't think you can take a photo unless you pay for return receipt". How does this make sense? I paid for the stamps and could have easily kept the envelope and dropped it in the mailbox elsewhere since I already paid...and freely take as much pictures as I want!!! I rushed over at closing time with two ebay packages that had to go out; Click 'n Ship LABELS ALREADY PRINTED OUT. All I had to do was drop them on the piled-high table. Was happy to find the door unlocked. My watch read 5 PM EXACTLY. And my watch is a high end, accurate Breitling. Immediately as I got in, the Latina-looking clerk on the left, with glasses, frizzy hair pulled back, absolutely BARKED at me that they were closed and that I should come back tomorrow. There were several people still waiting in line to be served. " 'Tude" is not the word for this lazy and dumb witch of a clerk. She stated that even though the door was open, not locked, that they were CLOSED, and that she wouldn't accept my packages. Beyond angry, contemplating a half hour drive in SM Blvd. traffic to West LA P.O., I barked back about how lazy she was, and overpaid, that her mantra was "always do the very least you can get away with in life, the absolute minimum, never more! It became quite ugly, two Millennial or Gen Z morons in the line taking the side of the clerk! The clerk wouldn't give me her name. SO I drove in traffic to West LA, barely making that at 5:30. This useless turd should lose her job, as she clearly hates that job, and, her customers. Am I in the wrong here? All I had to do was drop them on the fricking table! If you're the supervisor at this location, you need to fire her *ss immediately. No wonder this P.O. branch has such terrible Yelp ratings and comments. The clerks are consistently among the most lazy, dumb, surly people in the entire United States Postal system. I never wish bad on others, but I sincerely believe that every postal worker who was working at this location today should be fired. I went to drop off four pre-paid Priority Mail envelopes at 12:10, during my lunch break, and arrived to a line of 20 people. By the time I left (with my packages in hand!) at 1pm, only one person had been served and the line had grown to about 30. ONE PERSON IN AN HOUR'S TIME. How is this possible? I thought paying for 40 mins of parking would be overkill but it literally wasn't enough. It's too dangerous to leave a package on your porch for pickup in Santa Monica because it will get stolen within minutes. You can't leave a check in a USPS dropbox (or your own mailbox) because 9 times out of 10 it'll get stolen and washed. How are we supposed to use USPS? Because I don't have time to spend 2+ hours a day in line at this location while keeping my job. I'm not even going to bother discussing how filthy this place is. Just go to Montana Mail instead. I was in and out in less than 60 seconds. My mistake for not just driving the extra four blocks in the first place. read more

I tried calling today several times but no one answered, so I came in. When I politely asked if she could check if my package was being held there (because I was told by USPS customer service it was at this location) she said no and rolled her eyes. Really? You can't even be bothered to check (aka do your job?) The store was empty otherwise so it wasn't like she was busy. The same 2 women at the front are always condescending and have extremely nasty attitudes if you ask a single question and will literally fight you on the simplest tasks. I have hesitated to use this Post Office because of the horrific lines and poor service prior to COVID. It was also a filthy location and one could not enter due to all the local "crazies" blocking the entrance and harassing people walking. I have visited 3 times in the last 3 months around 3PM and found the Station to be clean and free of the "crazies" and the Postal workers to be pleasant. Sometimes no line and other times had 1-3 people ahead of me, but unlike years past where there would be a dozen or more waiting excessive times. Hopefully this Post Office will remain well managed. UPDATED 7/27/17 Their printers did not print our money order correctly!!! It caused a HUGE DELAY in our passport application that we paid a third party agency to expedite. I JUST received (8 days later) my returned money order and trying to get refunded. THIS USPS LOCATION PRINTED IT! Now I have to spend a fourth WORK day on our passport matter trying to get refunded our $196. ($170 passport fees & $25 passport carry fee when it never got to finish the application process due to their mistake) BEYOND FRUSTRATING. Bottom line, USPS should have understood to check meticulously to ensure their documents were completed correctly and accurately to be accepted by another government business/US PASSPORT OFFICE. read more

This post office is convenient to me. The clerks are usually decent. It has plenty of parking in the back but it is shared with many other stores. Unfortunately it typically has a homeless guy panhandling out front. Most times, I can get in and out quickly. Only during the holidays does it get busy. It usually is clean but at times but I have seen label backs on the tables. The hours are only to 5 pm so go to West LA if you need a later time. There are at least 2 curbside drop boxes with 2 car spaces for stop and drops. read more

For a USPS, this location meets the standard of what you can come to expect from a USPS. It's got pretty much everything you need from greeting cards, decorative shipping supplies, gift cards, basic mailing supplies, boxes, self service and the counter. Is the service here what you could expect at a juice shop down the street? No, but they get the job done as they try to make it through the day and some are at least fairly cheery. There is a sizable parking lot in the back that is free. Otherwise, there isn't that much of a lunch line (~10 min wait). read more

I read the horrible reviews and honestly, I get it. The USPS locations around the country haven't innovated in the last 30+ years, which lends itself to a rough, low tech customer service experience. Despite it being the end of the day and immediately after the holidays, I found the staff here to be warm and patient. I asked about seasonal stamps and he patiently told me about all of the options! I always have a great experience at this location - I think it deserves more stars! Going to any USPS is usually painful, but I've never had any issues here. This is the closest location to my home to I always go to this one. There is usually a line but it moves quickly. You usually don't have to wait since there are employee's asking you what you need when you walk in. They can ring you up for a flat rate box and process it for you without waiting in line as long as you are paying by credit card. The employee's are as happy as any government worker can be but they always seem like they are willing to help. I've never had any packages that didn't get shipped properly. They have all size boxes and flat rate boxes and envelopes there for your convenience. TIP- For a faster trip to USPS, print out a shipping label online and bring your package to this office. You can drop off the package in the left corner of the office when you walk in as long as it's pre labeled. read more

I visited around 3.30pm on a Wednesday and although there was an unexpected line, there were staff out front helping those waiting and trying their best to process things as quick as possible for everyone. One lady helped me find the right sized box to send my parcel in and she helped me fill in all the relevant forms (I was sending it internationally) Dave from Brooklyn was constantly asking if everyone was ok and offering to help people use the self service to reduce their wait time. I was there for at least half an hour but I came out with a smile on my face. Good Customer service really makes a difference to our experience. read more

I work in the area, so this is the closest post office to me. I go in during lunch, wait in line, and then I'm done. Staff is always very nice and helpful. I pretty much remember to say when mailing packages, "There's no liquid, fragile, perishable, potentially hazards, no perfumes, no lithium batteries." Everything goes by smoothly when you know what you're doing and when the staff is doing their thing. Anyhow, I've been satisfied and I visit almost monthly. read more
