This is the main post office where you you can get passports photos and submit applications for passports in addition to all mailing services and purchasing stamps. There were 2 workers here when we arrived and the line seemed long, both workers were very pleasant and smiled and made small conversations with each customer. The guy that helped us had a great smile! It was his birthday, so we wished him a Happy Birthday! He helped us with a Change of Address and told us to step aside to fill out the application, but once we were finished, we could walk up to his counter. Metered parking only, and the time for these meters is 30 mins. After waiting in line and filling out our application, we just made it under 30 minutes. I am giving this location 4 stars because of the smiles and positive attitudes I received from the workers today. I am also happy this office is open on the Saturdays. read more

I don't think I've ever been to a USPS store that's had 4 or 5 star reviews, which is really annoying and unfortunate given that you have to rely on important mail going through them. I have had a least 3 credit cards either lost or stolen in the mail, which is extremely frustrating. The most recent credit card was stolen and the person tried to use it to pay for $200+ at Target! Thankfully a block on the card so they couldn't use it anymore, but they probably just used someone else's stolen card. They really need to crack down on theft. On the occasion I have had to go in for something, I try to go during times I think they'll be less busy. I think the longest I had to wait was 10mins., which could have been much worse so I'll take it. The people working there are usually fine, some even pleasant l, so I gave the review an additional star, but USPS has a long way to go to turn the negative views around. read more

Sometimes I like going here to satisfy my masochistic urges. The level of abuse I receive for needing the simplest of services is unparalleled. I love this little game the clerk and I play where I speak to her with the utmost kindness, preparedness, and professionalism, and she responds with a disproportionate amount of disdain and disinterest. In all my years of dealing with the U.S. Postal Service and its mailboxes, I have never encountered a group as rude, angry, disrespectful, and entitled as the staff at this particular location-- including their manager. Instead of offering customer service, they seem driven by anger and a sense of entitlement. Sadly reviews are asking people not to open PO Boxes here, instead of asking public to taking measurements of saving their city and the postal problems. I opened a mailbox there yesterday, and I was given conflicting information. When I filed a complaint, the manager called me, yelling and raising his voice. He told me that he didn't care about the types of addresses listed on forms, such as "Department of Homeland Security." Throughout the conversation, he constantly interrupted me, raised his voice, and hung up on me when I attempted to clarify what the clerks had said regarding mail delivery. They had informed me that delivery was at the discretion of the mail carrier, and I wanted to discuss the responsibilities surrounding this. Instead of addressing my concerns, the manager yells at me with hostility. This is absolutely disgraceful, and instead of giving up we should find someone who is willing to address the issues at this center. For context, in the many years I've had USPS PO Boxes in other cities, this is the first time I have experienced such terrible service. This post office has the lowest rating, and dealing with them has been a nightmare. The problem starts with their management, and I'm baffled as to why USPS has not taken more effective action to resolve the issues at this location. read more

I asked her a simple question regarding my drop off for my pre-metered box and she replied in a moody manner. Mind you she only had 2 ppl in line so it was not as she was swamped with customers. Only 1 person is working. A lot of suppliers are gone and it seems no one cares. People wait in line for one person while he is on his cellphone talking to someone else during office hour for a long long time. Also, no passport application. The mailbox outside the door is also bolted down without knowing why. I talked to my postman here and he said that they all got to sent to Venice from the management. Thus, there is only one person in the post office serving people. I was planning to send a priority mail and they only had different bags available. She told me to cover it up and bring it back instead of giving me the right bag to wrap it. Well, she took care of me in 3 seconds so she could serve the next one, I guess. I am not saying they are bad. All the people behind the counter at USPS are pretty friendly and nice actually, it is simply the management issue, I think. Even the postman shakes his head saying he does not understand why the management wants everyone to support Venice and keeps only one inside that branch. Yes, they do have the mentality of government employees, but actually not too bad. Occasionally, I do see young employees unfamiliar with the services and they get help from senior coworkers right away. I also sometimes see employees on they phone texting back and forth with friends or families while serving you with their focus on the phone. I have also seen so-called managers avoid any responsibilities by wanting you to call or go online and then, you probably will never get any reply or meaningless replies like I have received. The worst post office ever! I changed the dresses in December and change of address nine months ago and they still don't have any forward. I have stopped there personally four or five times as I was told I had to go to the originating post office and supervisors ever available. I have left countless messages for the manager to call me and no one ever has had decency to call or come down to figure out why I have changed my address five times and it's still not going through and even put a hold on my account both in the place and online and that didn't work either. I've been here several times and had a good experience. The employees are nice and work hard. Yes, sometimes they are short-staffed so people have to wait. They are trying to do the best they can. No one is working yet they only take appointments for passports and won't help without one. Many mails (credit card payments, bills, etc.) were apparently never sent after being dropped in their inside mailbox, over 2 weeks ago, and definitely were never received by the companies these were sent to, triggering late payments mails and fees from said companies. Such a level of incompetence may put your credit score at risk and it's very sad these people cannot be brought to justice for, somewhere in the chain, themselves tampering with the mail the people put in their hands and trust them to deliver. Less than zero stars. This is the absolute worst post office location I've ever had the misfortune of living near. I live in a multi-story, multi-unit apartment building in downtown Santa Monica. Every so often, maybe every couple of months, I submit a package pickup request for 2-3 lightweight packages. Without fail, every single time, I have to put in 3+ requests AND submit an online complaint before the packages get picked up. It is absolutely infuriating and the local office takes zero responsibility to fix the issue. This is a service that you offer- you need to actually complete the service. Unfortunately for the lazy mail carrier(s), our building lobby is a highly trafficked and theft-prone area. I am not going to leave my iPhone trade-in to be stolen by some homeless person who has followed a tenant into the building. It is their job to pick the packages up where I've requested them to be picked up- DO YOUR JOB! I keep attempting to send Everlywell blood samples for health tests, and every single time I worry they will be spoiled from awaiting pickup for a week+. As someone who does not use the post office very often, l was not too sure the best way to ship a few items. The two women working the front were both very patient and welcoming. The first worker told me what boxes to use and the second worker helped me send it off. It was much easier than I thought, thanks to their help. read more

I walked in on Thursday (today) for my passport stuff, they started at 10am, this location was amazing compared to the other I've been in, friendly staff that actually help you, Raina helped me out with everything and she was fantastic, I hope she helps me every time in the future! I cannot stress this part enough, if you are walking in or even have an appointment for passport related services, have all of your documents ready to go, filled out DS-11 form, just don't sign it until you are under oath in front of staff! And all required documents, and photocopies of the documents, black/white single sided. I had a great experience here, I was helped out tremendously, and everyone I interacted with was very helpful with a positive attitude, keep up the great work guys! read more

Getting to this location is going to be incredibly difficult challenging and time-consuming. Many streets are blocked off or closed off for street work and are one-way. Might be good idea to put it in the navigation even though you know exactly where it is. Once you get into the store, they have a long line they're incredibly slow at answering any questions or moving through the line. It also looks like they're possibly understaffed. I walked in and asked if I was at the right place and which line to stand into I was told to stand into the very long line. After waiting for half an hour, I was told I needed to go to a different store. A complete waste of time. They could've just told me that when I asked the original question, it would've taken less than 30 seconds. read more

I had to literally spell out for him in front of a line of people that my parents had both died and I was the administrator on their estates and needed to do address changes. He gave no sympathy, just kept telling me my letters of admin weren't real. He brought them to his supervisor ( and shut the door. Pray you don't get the door shut on you, it will be a looooooong wait for him to come back) and then came back with the letters all crumpled and said they were real. Never go to this location. I waited on line for 15 minutes and no one helped me because they were all helping passport customers. I came back later and same thing. Finally I got up to the counter and they said they had no tape and my QR codes didn't work. I drove over to 12th and wilshire where I waited on line for 2 minutes, got free tape, and they scanned and mailed my packages in all of 30 seconds. read more

Horrendous post office and this is supposed to be the main hub location for Santa Monica? Wow. Speaks volumes about USPS. Only location in town that takes General Delivery but since nobody answers phones at any locations I've called in this region you must go in to even see if they'll accept GD. I went to the counter and was told I had to sign up at the blue door that nobody answers. Even a local with a POBox who's key wasn't working had to wait and we both gave up. He stuck around to be more persistent than me but I bailed because I decided if this is the way they operate I don't trust them to handle my GDs nor will I deal with the "blue door" situation again. The two employees at the desk were not willing to help and one would only do passports. USPS is not professional enough to actually provide any GD info or sign up options online so since local offices don't answer phones you're screwed if a traveler who needs to have a package delivered at your next destination, or in this case, even if you're there in person to ask and here actually sign up! I sure didn't have this problem in AZ. Just another defunct part of CA corrupt, criminal govt who thrives off of sabotaging this otherwise amazing state. Sad. read more

This post office absolutely sucks and is the worst when it comes to customer service and trying to get a passport processed I had to come back five times every time I'm there they pick and choose whether they want to help you or not even though they have posted hours half the time they were not working or they call in sick or they just feel like deciding not to help you that day they sit there with no one in front of them and yet refusing to help walk-insthey are negative nasty rude, and are so unprofessional and ignorant about the entire process. I found out now that I would have been completely screwed If I allowed them to help me these people are completely incompetent. Don't go there. Don't waste your time. they need an entire new staff and retraining. Over the course of 2 years of living at our address and having this location as our local post office, we have had multiple packages and pieces of mail not delivered. Three birthday cards (with gift certificates inside) from family members were mailed to me over 10 days ago and not one got to me. Considering our mail is delivered to a secure box, the only other alternative is that our mail person is a thief and consistently gets away with it. This location needs a hardcore audit. Today I was there and saw how the passport person was treating a young black woman with a baby. This mother had a baby girl and wanted a picture for passport so the passport man says put your baby on the floor on a peace of white paper like poster size to take picture, she says on the floor on this that has footsteps on it! He says yes. She tries to put a pink blanket under her baby and he says no! So poor baby is on the filthy floor on white dirty paper and starts crying he says calm the baby! Poor woman picks up the baby and puts her back down... finally the picture is taken. Are we in 3rd world country? How can this be! Baby on the floor of nasty post office. I'm so upset. read more

I came here about a month ago for my passport application. If you want to submit your application with your own passport, photo, sure go ahead. I got my photo taken at this location, and I expressed my concern about the quality of the picture with the middle-aged man with long grey hair who was serving me (I'm describing his appearance in case you have the same person serving you who is terrible at taking photos). He kind of made me feel like it was an effort to redo it. I told him I was concerned that it would not get accepted it looked overexposed but took his judgment. Anyway, I just got a text that the passport services have rejected my picture. I'm 37 weeks pregnant and this is not some BS. I'm trying to deal with right now. Quality control is terrible. I'm annoyed and irritated that I have to now resubmit a new picture and my Petty pregnant behind is definitely going in here for a refund because this is some BS. UPDATE: I wasn't very nice to them so I didn't get a refund, but I'm sure I would you kiss their asses and give them a whiff of being in appreciated. read more
