Sent two priorty mail enevelopes to the same address at the same time in case one got lost ..guess what ? ...one got lost ! No help calling branch directly as no one answers the phone . Mailed priorty 2 day from San Rafael to Vallejo . While tracking first enevelope noticed it was sent to San Francisco not once , but twice . FML * my mistake to not keep reciept . Two weeks ago I dropped off several packages, all at the counter, for some auctions I've been doing on eBay. One of the people contacted me that his item had not been shipped. Sure enough, the tracking was never entered. I thought it might be me, but I specifically remember packing the object and labeling it correctly. A week later, I mailed another 3 packages. This time, i carefully checked them, and when I dropped them at the post office, I put them well onto the counter with a stack of other packages so that it would be unlikely that someone was coming in and stealing them. Now, one of those packages was never entered into the system. So far, I'm out over $100 because either the people at this post office are incompetent, or they are stealing items, or they are allowing someone to steal items. I recommend staying far away from this particular post office, and I filed a complain with the Inspector General. read more

I came here to return a package that was USPS specific. They wanted me to buy a roll of packing tape to tape the bag and the label I brought to the bag. FedEx and UPS always just tape it for you. USPS wanted to charge me $5 to do basic customer care. read more

When I got there during lunch time, there were 2 ladies working: Karen and Judy. Once the line got long, Judy decided to "pretend" to work in the back somewhere, only to disappear a while later. There are 9 people in line and you suddenly have to go on break? WTF? Karen works but has 20 min. conversations with each customer. I get that she's trying to provide good custoner service but not when she's the only one working, there's 10 people waiting in line, and most of them are on their lunch break! I stood in line because I had to send back a textbook...and pretty much wasted 30 min. of my life to be told I couldn't send a book back with their envelopes because it's media mail. Who the heck cares? I'm paying for it...just take the darn thing! Never again...I would go elsewhere. read more

O.K. I am updating my review. I pay for a P.O.Box here..so I can get my mail when I'm out of town. I was out of town for two weeks, and only home on weekends. I ordered Xmas presents on Amazon.com, and had them delivered to my P.O. Box. That was my first mistake. The post office is not open on weekends...and appeared to never answer their phone...except for one time...? What I've come to realize is, the numbers you find online for the Terra Linda Branch are incorrect. The actual number is : 415-479-7032. Amazon reported the parcel as delivered. When finally I opened my P.O. Box, a delivery notice was there...no parcel or package and no item number was given on the slip..so I could not use their online redelivery service. No item number == no way to get redelivery. I was gone another week..and called and called the post office every day...but it rang and rang...That was the online posted number. I was told, when I called the 1-800 USPS number, that package, that I ordered has been "Returned to sender".WTF!!!!! The only thing I can do is file a complaint. Why do they exist? Hello? The 1-800 number is useless. It finally occurred to me to leave a note for the post office workers in my P.O. Box asking them to call me. They did, and they had held on to my parcel. Even better, they put a key for me in the P.O. box to access a larger P.O. Box that was not being used, so I could get my parcel. Alot of work...but I finally got it. read more

US Post Office - Post Offices Near Me - San Rafael, California

This is the Terra Linda Post Office 603 Del Ganado Rd in San Rafael CA 94903. I have had a PO Box there since August 1995. It is a wonderful Post Office. Everyone is so friendly and helpful there and it is so convenient there because Scotty's Market is just across the parking lot and the laundromat is just nextdoor. It is part of my routine to go get my mail and get lunch at Scotty's Market. The Postal Clerks are terrific and I just like going there. Slow, inefficient, very friendly to locals, but good luck, if you are just a customer without neighborhood ties. Staff move at one speed which is barely "methodically slow". Staff are scheduled to take breaks, and do, inevitably when the line is the longest...lunchtime. Avoid mailing packages during holidays. read more

I ship out packages A LOT, about 50-150 a week. Not the easiest location to drop off packages. The staff is extremely sweet but the poor employees are way too under staffed and this location is tiny! read more

Gina is telling everybody how unhappy she is and she has a headache and just wants to go home. She's says she is just real doesn't fake it. You need to!!! We all have tough days but have to go to our work and not complain to our customers. She then says she is pissed off. She has no strength to work "so sorry for everyone coming in today because Im not moving fast for no one." Keep it to yourself. read more

Terra Linda in general is quirky as well as this post office. The line was long and the two ladies at the location did not give me the customer service that I am usually used to from any USPS. They cared more about their personal conversation than helping customers, unless they knew that customer personally. Locals are treated well, unlike Marin transplants like myself. They could tell I was irritated when I got to the front finally and tried to be nice, but it still was not genuine. I understand that the office is understaffed, but there is no excuse for maintaining professionalism at all times. read more

Service is slow and there is usually a long line to wait in to be helped. The location is convenient and easy to access. There is ample street parking nearby. In a pinch this USPS location is good. read more

The gentleman at the checkout line literally told me he could not sell me the 4x holiday boxes because he did not know how. For they weren't coming up in his computer as something to sell. Wow, why couldn't he manually input them and make the sale. I think he needs a bit more training. Why didn't he make a phone call to a higher up to figure this out. Or ask a fellow coworker? Bad service and a waste of my time. read more
