Worst service...ever. I had two day delivery from Amazon that was marked as delivered but never showed. Went in and they told me it was sent back. Ordered again from Amazon and received one day service. Package never showed but Amazon sent me a message there was an attempted delivery but no note was left. Worst post office EVER! Yes, the building is historic and beautiful, but that only gets you one star. Today, there were no fewer than TWENTY-FIVE people in line and only one clerk working. The rest were milling about in the back, on break, who knows. I avoid this post office usually, but it's right by my office and I really needed stamps. The majority of customers inside are unsavory as well. As others have said, the place is surrounded by 1/2 way houses and homeless are usually begging at the front door or camped out across the street on the grass. Today the guy behind me was on his phone angry because he couldn't get a mental health care appointment. I will never go to this post office again. read more

Unfortunately this location is the hub for my area. In the middle of halfway houses and run down rented homes. Locals are scary. Men walking around tweeting or drunk. So many homeless panhandling and makes it a very depressing visit to the post office. I switched to a different location as I got tired of being harassed by the beggars, construction works, drunks, and mad people here. Wasn't good for my son to see on a daily basis. I normally get good service from them. But today the lady on the last window was just not having a good day. She started walking away from me while I was talking (without warning) so I stopped talking to wait until she came back. And she snidely tells me she can still hear me. Her mask is all the way down the entire time we spoke, employees are still being told to wear them. Overall bad service, wasn't helpful and was rude. In addition, she gave contradicting information from what is on their website. Which says after a certain amount of days you can fill out paperwork for delayed or lost packages. And she told me I can't do that even though online it says I can after 7 days for my type of package. It really felt like she was trying to tell me I inconvenienced her by her having to deal with a customer instead of being in the back. It was only me and one other person in there, so they weren't busy. If you aren't going to be nice to customers when they're simply asking for help, don't work in customer service. read more

30 min parking in front, 2 hour parking across the street. It's never busy here... There are random vagabonds outside though, maybe adding to the business lacking customers... the inside is beautiful, as in olden days. It's no wonder why this place has two stars. They provide such shitty service. It's as if anyone can just work here. First off I keep experiencing these morons putting my packages and mail in the wrong mailbox. How stupid can they possibly be?!?!? The first time I complained the idiots ass supervisor called me and didn't even introduce herself then to top it off she didn't even ask who she was speaking to. She could have been speaking to the wrong person-___- Fast forward I'm talking to the idiot Melissa again and she is still as stupid as ever and unprofessional. While parking is a bit of a challenge it pales in comparison to the unprofessional staff who work here. A tremendous young lady named Vanessa is the best thing this unit has going for it. All the other staff seems to be working just to get a paycheck. No one greets you with a smile and no one seems to care about the consumer. I have taken items in to be processed, and always seem to encounter a problem. I don't seem to face the same issues at other post offices in the area. This one happens to be my local PO so often I have no choice. It would be great if the employees were given training on the proper way to greet customers. I would also like to say my local mail carrier, Mary is also a fabulous worker and deserves a bonus, she's great!! read more

Parking is an issue for this place, but it is an old part of Pedro and that is a given anywhere. I usually just drop letters off in the box on the street. You can drive up and drop off, but only if someone is in the passenger seat, otherwise it is worthless. I like the history of the building and appreciate it for what its worth. read more

Good customer service and small lines and they are a full service post office. Had to mail a package priority mail and they had different envelopes including the postage. It gets a little confusing but the employees are very helpful. I had a great experience and I will definitely go back there. read more

Try to get her attention to no avail. This place has lost or stolen packages of ours before with little or no explanation or apology. If I could I would use FedEx or UPS for everything. Dealing with this post office is so frustrating. I called this morning to make sure my package would be there to pick up, but instead the carrier took hold of it. Now I have to sit in my living room to make sure the package gets dropped off. Since the first time the carrier didn't drop it off or didn't consider to leave a notice when he came by, and I was home. Now there's no communication on where my package could be between the carrier and the post office. And of course tomorrow is Sunday so it will be close. Mail delivery is atrocious! I buy a lot thru eBay, eBay will alert you when the item is delivered. I get a delivered notice and the item is not here, it shows up 3 days later, or I have to go down to the Post Office wait for 10-15 mins for the Post MASTER to make my complaint. Or they deliver it to the wrong address, how can they deliver a package with a computer printed label to the wrong address??? Here's the other problem, they will force a small box into my mailbox and to get it out I have to cut open the box to remove my item and then the box. Or they will walk upstairs and leave a notice that they could not deliver the package because it is too big to fit in my mailbox. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Terrible customer service . I been dealing with mail issue since October . When I was living In my old residence my neighbors were recovering my mail from their own mail box and luckily my cousin was a neighbor and he would bring it over. So I ended up calling the main 1800 number to deal with this. They were great! They sent out a sticker for the mail man to post and to make sure he double checks our mail since we occasionally would get others and others would get ours. Mail became a MAJOR issue and a headache esp when bills need to be done and it wasn't being received. Truly nothing was getting resolved. Few months later, we moved out . I went ahead and filled out the card for my husband and I so we can just get our mailed forward moms house . strangely I notice we still weren't receiving mail . Esp ones that will be rerouted. I've been calling once a month. I spoke to Adele, "billy" which isn't a real person, and to nick to the supervisor. Which nick was more worthless that his employee. He said he needs to investigate. Wtf so you need to investigate? I need it to be resolved in a timely manner. Plus a ticket should of been still open due to me calling multiple times prior! I asked him where those notes are or where that ticket is and he said he doesn't no. Well sir, what do you know? Obviously not much or your not training your employee to take sporophyte action. So when someone decides to use my husband ss# and his id since your post mail delivered it and no one knows where it is... Are you going to help me resve that issue!? NOPE BECAUSE YOU CANT EVEN FIX THE ISSUES NOW. But anyways They all said they will call me but never once did I receive a call even months later. Lazy and rude people. There phone etiquette is always beyond terrible! What's the point of having a post office when they are beyond lazy and understaff. I don't care what problems u have that are Laying on your desk. That's YOUR problem NOT mine! My problem is locating my husband social security card and his driver license that was delivered back in February that I OR him has he received! It's like pulling teeth. On 17 February 2015 I collected my mail and I received a PS Form 3849 Delivery Notice dated 13 February 2015. I also had the receipt for placing my mail on hold dated 12 February 2015. I placed my mail on hold from 13 February 2015 to 17 February 2015 The mail carrier made NO ATTEMPT at RE-delivering the certified letter. I received no knock on my door, no door bell ring-just the notice in the mail box. I called the post office on 18 February 2015 and spoke with supervisor Randy (refused to give last name).. Randy was extremely unprofessional and kept interrupting me. I explained to him that I was not finished talking numerous times and at one point he just hung up the phone. I called back and asked his name and explained I would be filing a complaint-he hung up again. This is not the first time I've had issues with the main post office located on Beacon Street, San Pedro, CA or the employees. The Privacy Act contradicts the Freedom of Information Act regarding providing of the last name of federal employees. I filed my complaint with the USPS and will be doing complaints elsewhere (BBB, Consumer Affairs, etc...). HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS! Anyway, he (Randy) had Maria come back and low and behold she rung a working door bell that I was able to hear and retrieve my certified letter. I did inform Maria that this was one of a few incidences with SP main PO and to inform Randy I am not finished with my complaints. I'll cut and paste all of the negative reviews from here and Google reviews (anywhere else I find them) to support (validate) the clear pattern of behavior of Randy and other employees at the above mentioned post office*** It is 18 February 2015 at 5:10 pm. I left three messages earlier for Rockie (?) the supervisor of the main post office and Randy's supervisor to call me regarding this issue. I was assured that I would receive the call. I left two messages with Keith (very professional and polite) who stated he passed on my message. Apparently, Rockie was on a teleconference call? I also left the message with Randy himself who also stated he would pass on the message. I received NO call. It's just more to add to my complaint and validates my complaint. ok....I thought that the post office's improved customer service was going to last, but today was an abomination. Their were 4 windows open when I walked in, then the manager closed his window, another left, and it was down to two. So their were at least six customers waiting when this lady decided to close her window, only leaving one window open. Another customer had asked the manager about the shortage of cashiers, he just said that they didnt have enough people and the last person had finished her shift. This fool didnt bother helping out the remainining cashier, and their was a customer who had made an appointment to get his passport done, but nobody didnt help him. As I left, their were at least 10 customers waiting for service, only one cashier. I believe that the all post offices need to close for good since they cant provide service to customers in a timely manner. read more

Do I have to give them a star? I cant describe how much I hate this place and this post office. The building is great, nice and historical. Also it has a pretty good view, which I know because I stand in line at least a half hour every time I come here. Even at 3pm in the afternoon. Also not long ago some buffoon at this post office decided it was ok to cut off the mail delivery to an ENTIRE street in San Pedro because someones dog attacked a postal worker, a dog that is no longer living on the streeet. So now we have to pick up our mail at the end of the street in a lock box, BUT they NEVER use the parcel boxes (the ones with the little key) so I have to pick up every single package from this place. No one there wants to hear it, no one wants to revisit the policy, they just want you to go away. If you complain they stare at you like deer in head lights. I dont know why the USPS is like this, I dont know why this particular post office is so wretchedly slow, its probably management, but its awful. In addition this post office is right next to Harbor House and and other out patient mental health facilities, Im not bagging on homeless people but coming here with two children and having people asking for money on the steps is not fun. The employees at this post office is always so nice and courteous. Yes, there are lines like most post offices especially around the holidays but at least the employees are kind and pleasant. I go here to drop off my packages and always need a receipt. I need these receipts as my proof of drop off should the package go missing and I need to file a claim. I've been to this post office three times and each time, I always find street parking either right out front or just around the corner. Sometimes, there' a short line but there's always been someone out there helping expedite that line by providing forms or answering questions. The best part was when I ordered something online and typed in one wrong number by accident. I called and got to speak to Keith. He was a gem. He found my shipment and held it at the post office for me. He called back as promised to let me know he had found it. Everyone there so far has been nice and polite. read more

A package that was meant for my house was mis-delivered to another house with a similar address. After a few calls to the local San Pedro post office, and speaking with the mail carrier, the mail carrier realized what had happened. I followed up on this often, and spoke with the person at the house where the mail carrier believed he delivered the item to. Today, the mail carrier came to my door with the package. I am happy he made the extra effort and made the personal delivery after the fact. read more
