We discovered our local USPS branch wasn't open today, so we went here instead, When we arrived,…read moreparking was sparse, so I ran in while my boyfriend parked the car. I waited at the counter for several minutes and looked around for someone to help me. Only after another customer came in and we began chatting did someone come out to assist. Unfortunately, he was immediately rude and defensive towards me, saying he hadn't heard or seen anyone there. I replied, "Hey, it's no problem. It's all good... I think?" (after seeing the angry, put-off expression on his face). He then took a tone with me when explaining my options for shipping. He abruptly cut me off when I inquired about an option and was so rude that I stopped the transaction, allowing the woman behind me to go first because I didn't want to deal with his attitude and needed a moment to process the whole interaction. At this point, my boyfriend came in after finding parking. The employee completely changed his tune and was overly nice to both of us. Okay. The sudden shift in his mood and tone was disconcerting but decidedly better than dealing with the attitude he had started my transaction with. He slipped up quickly, started being rude to both of us, and ended our transactions by admonishing my boyfriend for licking an envelope that needed to be licked! He put on gloves to touch the envelope and barked at him not to lick it next time and instead ask whoever was waiting on him to seal it with tape. Literally minutes earlier, he had rolled his eyes at me and said he would "help me out this time" with tape since I hadn't brought any to adhere my shipping label to the outside of the envelope. I would have happily purchased a roll of tape. However, he seemed not to want to assist us with options but rather treat us like petulant school children. I'm not sure what his problem was. We both were kind to him, and I have a lot of empathy for people dealing with the general public. As someone who had previously worked in retail for years, I know how emotionally exhausting it can sometimes be, but his customer service was unacceptable.

On the date of the incident, I visited this business to send a standard document envelope from Napa, California to Santa Monica, California. I explicitly requested the most economical ground shipping option with tracking. Instead, I was informed of the following: That USPS tracking was not available for my shipment; That I was required to use FedEx tracking instead; That the cost to ship a standard envelope would be $47. This pricing and explanation appeared inconsistent with standard USPS ground shipping services. Based on my prior experience using independent mail centers in Benicia and Glen Cove, similar shipments typically cost approximately $5-$13 and include tracking as part of the service. After leaving the business, I independently verified the issue: A USPS representative confirmed that the quoted price was not consistent with USPS Ground Advantage pricing; Independent mail centers in Benicia and Glen Cove confirmed that USPS tracking is normally included and that the $47 charge was significantly above standard rates; I later completed the same shipment at a different mail center in Glen Cove for approximately $13 using USPS Ground service with tracking included. This suggests the possibility that I was either misinformed about available shipping options or directed toward a significantly more expensive service than what I requested. The behavior I experienced may potentially fall under deceptive shipping or misrepresentation practices involving mail services, including situations where customers are: Told USPS services are unavailable when they are actually standard options; Directed toward higher-cost carriers without clear justification; Given inconsistent or misleading information about tracking requirements. I am also concerned about the potential impact on vulnerable individuals. While in the business, I observed elderly individuals and individuals who may have limited English proficiency, who could be more susceptible to unclear or misleading pricing practices. When I questioned the pricing and declined to proceed, I was met with a dismissive response, including the phrase "Welcome to Napa," delivered in a condescending tone. This interaction gave the impression that such pricing and treatment may be considered normal in Napa, which is deeply concerning as a consumer and community member.

Well, the UPS store is great for UPS stuff. Which would explain my previous five star reviews…read more they claim they have the ability to process mail on behalf of the USPS. BUT. Their ability to process the USPS material is almost grossly limited compared to a real post office. So you may think their hours are more convenient than your local post office. BUT. The number of package pickups at the UPS locations is lame. Thanks to Amazon and other pressures on the USPS, they now process mail 24/7. Yes weekends, holidays, rain, shine... So if you managed to sneak your mail at the post office minutes before their closing time, most likely the mail will be picked up and sent for processing. You go to the UPS store and forget it. Your package will be stalled in transit at the store. For days. That would be Sundays, holidays. There won't be after hours pick up. And your mail will be stuck in the UPS store until the postal service arrives for their extremely limited number of pickups. But wait. The UPS store will most likely charge you more than a post office for the same service. Just go to a real post office.

Took my credit card info and charged initial purchase,…read moreincorrectly entered the names and addresses in communication with the carrier and when I called to point out their mistake they were rude however fixed the issue. A month later unauthorized charges show up on my credit card. I called them and actually allowed them time out of my day to explain themselves- their manager was even more rude than their counter girl and continued to insist on some petty explanation for their fraudulent behavior. Anyway, would stay away from this ridiculous company, or else they will keep paying their bills with your credit card! Obviously, I filed a fraud report with my bank. Too sad that places like that still exist - bad look to a beautiful town like St Helena.

That is when I came across Bodega Shipping Co and found some great reviews so I thought I would give them a try. I was in town wine tasting in mid April and decided to purchase an expensive case of wine for a friend in Utah because they helped with my move out west. I had also purchased three cases of wine for myself. Before I headed back to Utah, I visited the Saint Helena location to ship a total of four cases of wine totaling over $3800.00, one to a friend and three to myself. Everything seems to go OK when I dropped the wine off to be shipped but when I returned to Utah, I waited for a few days to receive my wine because that is what I was told by the person working the counter that day in mid April. So I waited, and ended up waiting for over a week and still nothing. However, my friend did receive his case of wine but it was the wrong wine. I had specific instructions on the paperwork and box that was left at Bodega that day and they shipped him my case of Merlot instead of the case of Cab Sauv. After speaking to my friend and him stating he received a case of wine, the wrong wine, I tried to contact Bodega to find out where my other three cases of wine were and I could not get through to anyone. After trying to contact them four days in a row, two of my cases showed up, but to date I am still missing the one case of Merlot that I purchased for my friend. After trying for over a week and a half, I finally got in touch with some rude customer service person at Bodega in Saint Helena and I was told that there were not able to locate my case of Merlot and would look into it. Well, after weeks of waiting I finally had enough and called them to refund my money for the shipping and to file the claim on the lost package. I was told that because it was going to Utah, that they were not going to refund anything. As for using them again or recommending them to anyone, I would tell anyone who asks to never trust Bodega Shipping Co because they are rude and very unprofessional. They are lucky I can't give them zero stars because that is what the experience was worth.
