This place is a black hole! Constantly losing mail or taking a week plus to deliver something after it shows on informed delivery. We can go weeks without mail and then all of a sudden our box is overflowing with stuff that was mailed weeks prior. It took months to even get this post office to deliver mail on occasion as they refused to update their systems to reflect our address. The postmaster here is a joke and she just lets the staff get away with doing anything, which apparently is usually doing nothing. read more

I had to have a package rerouted from the wrong zip code (my fault, I put it in wrong when ordering). Giovanni went out of his way to contact the receiving post office and keep me updated by phone. When my package finally made it to Poulsbo I was worried it wouldn't be sorted correctly and would not be sent out for delivery. I come from SoCal. The post office has the WORST people. Always. Attitude is bad. We moved to Poulsbo 2 years ago. The local USPS store is always friendly and helpful. Yesterday, I left my credit card at there. Today, I had it returned by the post office via mail! Such a kind thing to do, and especially since I had no idea it was missing. I went to the Poulsbo Post Office to pick up a registered letter. The clerk couldn't find it so I asked for the postmistress. A young woman came up to the counter, not wearing a name tag. I asked her name and she told me "Naomi". She even snidely spelled it for me. She was very rude and unhelpful and couldn't find the letter. I asked her for a business card and she said that she didn't have any. Well I filed a complaint and today I received a call from the ACTUAL postmistress. It turns out Naomi is the lead clerk (not any more hopefully). The postmistress was appalled about this employee. File a complaint, something does happen! read more

Staff at this office is rude, I paid for certified mail return receipt, letter made it to its destination but never got my receipt back.they basically told me that there is nothing they can do for me, call the 1-800 number wich I already did & they told me to come into a actual post office. I had the exact experience as another reviewer. Paid for five certified/ return receipt letters (payouts to beneficiaries). Two receipts were returned, so three were missing after two months. Since this was an estate closing, the certifieds are in the estate records as proof of delivery. Their website states: "If you have purchased a Return Receipt at a retail Post Office™ location and have not received the return receipt (or receive an incomplete receipt), you may request a refund or replacement record either:After 30 calendar days from date of mailing.Any time after you know the item has been delivered." The clerk said "this is not a guaranteed service and we don't give refunds." I knew arguing was futile, so I left, went to Keyport Post Office, where I was listened to, they actually looked up the tracking, gave me explanations as to what may have been AND refunded the cost of three certified mails, AND even apologized! read more

This place is a joke. Federal jobs for people who refuse to do their job. Consistently lost packages, horrible customer service, and the rudest people to exist in a small town. I have filed a complaint with the postmaster and will continue to do everything I am able to, to have every single person there fired and replaced. How any business can afford to deal with this nightmare of a joke of a post office is beyond me. The positive reviews are obviously fake. Just witnessed the worst customer service that I have seen in a long time. This elderly gentleman was mailing a large quantity of packages. The clerk who was helping him was complaining to him about having to have to do it. "Don't you have a printer at home?!" "My God, all of those those?!" "Well, this is about a half hours worh of work!" Were a few of the comments made. I felt so bad for the customer. Isn't this what he gets paid to do?! If he's helping one customer with 20 items or 20 customers with one item ...makes no difference. Do your job and be thankful you have customers coming that help support your cranky ass! read more

I took a package into the Poulsbo Post Office this morning. It was a refused package. I asked for a receipt for my refused package and she arrogantly told me I would have to pay return postage for it. I did not open it because it was shipped in error. Just a heads up, if you plan on having your package delivered to the post office instead of your house. Please allow 2-3 days for them to "process" your package. This has literally been a nightmare for me. We have porch pirates where I live so I send expensive stuff to my PO Box via UPS, FedEx, USPS. Packages will be delivered to the post office in the morning, let's say Thursday, at 10am. You will not be able to pick it up until Saturday or possibly Monday because they haven't processed your package yet. This is more frustrating if you have amazon prime. So two day shipping turns into 4-5 day shipping. Takes them 2-3 days to process your package? My grandmother can throw freight faster then these jokers. Also I was asked to give a tracking number, which I did. (UPS) But I was told that the tracking number was useless unless it was a USPS tracking number and it's not there fault I don't have it. Why in the hell would UPS or Fedex need to give me a USPS tracking number?!?? Again, I feel bad for giving bad reviews but WTF?!?! I'm probably gonna switch to the Silverdale Post office cause this shit beyond annoying. read more

Well damn look at all these bad reviews. I went here to do an address change because the website didn't recognize my old address, probably because I used to live far away from civilization. Let's just say I'm from a different planet and we hardly have any Karens. They will be publicly shamed and made fun of. Well anyways the lady who helped me was very sweet, helpful and patient. I made sure she can read my sloppy a$$ handwriting. So she went everything over with me step by step making sure she read it right. Hopefully I won't encounter rude employees too. I recieved a delivery notice in my mail box, so I went down just before they closed (which on the PO slip says 5:30.) I walked in at 5:01 and was told, very rudely (most importantly) that they were closed. I showed him the slip with the hours, and he just glanced and coldly told me, "That's wrong. Come back tomorrow." I see now that they are infact closed after 5:00, but I was going by the slip. I live 6 miles out of town, so this wasn't exactly a short detour. I may have been okay with the misunderstanding if the man I talked to was not so condescending. I have now been here twice, and I am not happy with the workers here at all. Cold, unkind people. I highly recommend dealing with the Port Gamble post office if you're within a few miles. They are much more friendly there. I go in to send packages and pick up stamps. read more

We have all heard the stories about the public sector and I thought that they just had to be exaggerations or tall tales but I can assure you that this one is true because it happened to me. I go to my PO box today and find it totally crammed with stuff. As I go to pull my stuff out of the box, a couple of things jam it up and they fall to the floor behind the row of boxes. So I go inside and ask the man behind the counter to pick up the stuff for me. He says "fine, I'll just put it back in your box." I say, "no, I think it would be better if you did not since it was forced into the box and is why I got into this in the first place." So, he goes and gets the things and brings them up to the counter and I see a photo mailer for 8 x 10 photos curled into a 4 x 5 u shape. I say that I am happy to pick up my stuff and that it does not need to be shoved into the box. He says that unless it specifically says do not bend on the envelope that they will put it into the box. I asked what the hell happened to common sense? Especially since these pictures cost nearly $50 and have a big fricken crease in them. When I looked at the envelope, it did say photos but the "do not bend" had been blacked out by a sharpie. Dumb asses. read more

The Poulsbo post office is decorated inside & out with murals about the Norwegian post system, and even shows a metal Norway Post sign out front. There's a note saying "For the story, see inside"... but there's no informational sign to be had, and the employee I asked said she'd "always wondered about that herself." Weird. As to the actual post-officing end of things: I met one cranky employee and one helpful-if-puzzled one; sending some letters went just fine. read more

I've been in Poulsbo since 2008 and in the past 2 years have started to have issues. It starts with postal workers no longer wearing uniforms that identify themselves. Nothing like having a dude in a loose hanging tank top and board shorts delivering mail. Your mail carriers look sloppy. We have been waiting for packages to be delivered, only to have the Poulsbo mail person indicate they couldn't get to our door, yet another mail delivery person was able to get to our door earlier that day. UPS can deliver large items to our porch as well as Fed Ex every time. My spouse just went to pick up the package at the post office, not wanting to rely on the Postal Service to get it right. He told the person who helped him what happened and the guy didn't care. And just now we got an update that the package my spouse had to pick up was "delivered". read more

I wish 0 stars was an option. This place didn't answer the phone, for almost 2 hours. I needed to have my mail held, urgently. I guess I expected too much from this postal service, I read the reviews while I was waiting patiently for someone to be AWARE of the fact that the phone was ringing... the negative ones are ALL TRUE. 2 hours later I'm then greeted by a woman who didn't care about my situation, it's urgency, or have any viable information for me to continue forward. Finally after our conversation was concluded. She slammed the phone down, after I asked her to repeat back to me the address I had given her, (she got it wrong 3 times). I just wanted to make sure all of my bases were covered. I called back shortly after and told the man who answered the phone that I would be filing a report with The office of consumer advocate. You cannot file complaints with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) , they will not take government agency complaints unfortunately. I suggest you use the words "office of consumer advocates.." if you'd like things to get done in a timely, professional manner. Unfortunately, we have to scare people into doing their jobs sufficiently this day and age. read more

The Poulsbo Post Office is something else. I have had a post office box with them for 13 years. I often get someone else's mail misdelivered to my box. Sometimes the box numbers of mis-deliveries are not even close. Who knows how often my mail ends up mis-delivered before I finally receive it? The other day I go to pick up my mail and I notice that the keyed lock is lying loose inside the mailbox with a hole in the door where the lock should be. I pick up the loose lock and wait in line for 10 minutes to explain the problem to a clerk. "I found this lock lying loose inside my mailbox. Evidently, it came from my mailbox considering that there is a hole in the box of the same caliber. Can you get someone to fix this, please?" "What happened?" she asks. "I haven't the foggiest idea, madame. I found it this way. Obviously, the lock is not supposed to be in my hand. Can you please fix this today?" I go back the next day to find the lock reinstalled. It opens, but the amount of effort required to turn the key is now about five times what it was before the re-installation and the mechanism grates. I guess I will have to take a can of WD-40 down there and lubricate the lock mechanism myself. I pay more than $200 a year for this mailbox. Suggested motto: "Slow, yet inefficient." read more

I've been to a lot of Post Office's where the people are super friendly and nice -- but the Poulsbo office takes the cake. The staff here are courteous to a fault, and even the clientele here have been consistently warm and inviting. This post office isn't even the nearest to me, but I don't mind the trip for the "small town" feel of this one. read more

For the 3rd week in a row, a package could not be delivered to my address because "there was no access to my front door". This is absolute garbage because I live in a condo complex and all doors are easily accessible. This third week, the package was a day late and put into one of the condo mail receptacles. The key to that particular box had a yellow note stating the key didn't work. So guess which box the carrier chose? Right, the one that didn't work even though several others were available. I had to waste my time, yet again going to the post office. I was told the carrier would come up and remove the package and deliver it to my door. Three hours later, no package. One time they put a package in so tight I had to use tools to get it out. Very frustrating and such poor service. read more

I've had a package missing for nearly a month and they don't seem to know where its at. According to tracking It was delivered to this post office then marked as returned to sender over 3 weeks ago and no one working there seems to know its current location or bothered to look in the back to check if its sitting there. $2000 worth of product in that shipment and its supposedly nowhere to be found. This place is consistently the worst mailing experience I've ever had. Sincerely, A local Poulsbo Business Owner. UPDATE: My wife went in today looking for the same package. According to an employee there they have 3 bins full of "return to sender" packages just sitting in the back room and the excuse is "they're too busy to look". Unbelievable service. I watched them yell at a customer for 'being rude' when she explained her frustration that they don't know where her mail is. They also were very short with me and told me there is nothing they can do to inform me about the status of a tracking number after 3 PM, and that I ought to take the day off work and come back to deal with a simple issue. If your office is going to be open until 5 PM, keep it staffed with people who can do their jobs. read more

The post office staff are okay, not great, but okay. The problem is that the street service is a nightmare. Though I have a regular carrier who is great, and brings to the front door any small pkgs that don't fit the locked street mailbox, she is too often not available. Yes, she's nice. She's tidy. She's friendly. HOWEVER, whenever she's not available the idiots that take her place lose packages, put mail in other people's unlocked boxes, or leave notes saying they 'couldn't deliver' the pkg (though there is NO reason why that's so). This has happened so many times I've actually complained to the main office twice already. Just got another 'couldn't deliver' note yesterday. Now I get to schlepp into town and wait in line to hopefully get my pkg. GRRRRRRR. I'd give one star but my regular carrier is great. It's clear the branch office doesn't give a f**k about delivery service though. read more

I haven't had any bad luck when going into this location. The line is usually pretty short and the staff is pleasant. The problems I do have are with the lazy letter carriers. Numerous times I had packages and the carriers would just leave a notice and not even try knocking on my door. This is extremely annoying especially in the winter. Apparently a snow storm stops all mail deliveries for 3 days after the snow has been cleared and everyone in the town has already started going back to work. I could understand not delivering the mail when the storm initially hit Poulsbo, but it's been 3 days and all the roads are plowed and I still haven't received mail that I was supposed to receive 6 days ago... also when I call to figure out if the post office is even open I get a disconnected tone or the phone just rings and rings. I work for the government also this is just straight trash. read more

The folks at the Poulsbo Post Office are always friendly whenever I stop in to pick-up or drop off mail. I usually have to wait in a short line that moves quickly so I would qualify everyone there as efficient. The experience is average and what I expect. read more

The best rating I can give the USPS at Poulsbo is one. If there was a lower number, I would have given them a zero. I've stood in line when there was one person working behind the counter and two people in the background doing, I don't know what instead of helping customers. Their carrier service isn't any better, it's all a joke. I don't enjoy going to the Post Office in Poulsbo for any reason, sometimes I have to, I just shake my head in disbelief. I have tracked packages on their tracking page; I watched one package of mine go from Seattle to Poulsbo and then to Texas and back to Poulsbo, added an extra week and a half. It's a shame USPS doesn't fix Poulsbo Post Office, it's broke. I also like it when I watch the tracking and read they can't find my driveway to deliver a package or they couldn't make it up the driveway. The next day I get the package. It's a joke. If they were a public trading company they would be out of business, it's that simple. read more

I had the bad fortune of talking to Elizabeth on the phone. She clearly hates her job and it is so incredibly rude. I get the wrong mail daily from other people. My daughter is without her birthday card because they are careless in making sure it goes in the correct box. They don't care. If it ends up missing and you ask to have them look for it, they get nasty as Elizabeth did. Most of the employees at the front counter are rude, and argumentative. I have heard them talk about people after they have left. They need to fire them all and start over with people who like their job.
