The first time their computers were down and the second time they could not find our appointment that was scheduled and the third time , we left crying .. He was so rude. Plenty of seats in the room but sarcastically said, "Do you see room ? ". My mother in her 70's was fine but, it was not .. it was cold and there was plenty of room inside .. I live in Port Hueneme. I lost my key to the community mail box. The main post office told me to catch my mailman and ask him for my mail and let him know what happened. I left a message for him and then I saw him today and he totally ignored me. He ran to his truck and shut the door. I knocked on his window and he said he didn't know what I was talking about and took off. I tracked him down the street and he took off hiding and ignored me. I did EXACTLY what the post office said to do and he just ignored me. It would have taken him 2 minutes to open my mail Box. My review is only for the passport service. I googled everything before going, I read that they had long lines, I read what to take, forms of payment, made copies, had my pictures taken, got there at 6am because they open at 9am on a Friday. Sooo my passport expired 3 years ago, and I read that you could renew yourself or get help at the passport location in Oxnard soooo I went in and the guy told me he couldn't help me, gave me a new application because my passport expired within the last 5 years and I could just use my old passport and proof of identification, use a check and send it out. I'm more annoyed because I googled everything I needed and if I knew that I wasn't going to get help I could have not waited 5 hours. So the passport location opens at 9am but the actual post office opens at 10 am. My situation was my name or nothing had changed since last time applying for my passport, you have to get there application there, don't print one out because it's invalid, and the guy will answer all but 3 questions and ignore you after. I filled out the new application, he gave me an envelope, put a check in there, added my picture in the picture slot, signed and taped it and drove to the Camarillo post office that opened at 9* and paid to have it shipped 7.95 . I was so annoyed with the Oxnard post office, they have 4 different times of When they open, some said 9, others said 10, other said closed. The guy was not helpful at all and with proper signage or updated website this could have been all avoided. I would have made an appointment if the service was available. So 2/5 because it wasn't all the guys fault but he had lack of customer service. read more

Our appointment was for 3:00 pm it said to be there 15 minutes before. We got there and he was so rude and told don't come up until it was 3:00 pm. Went on a Wednesday morning to get my passport. Arrived at about 8:20 am and there were already 4 people in line. By the time the office opened at least another 10 people had lined up behind us. There was only 1 employee working at the time, so the process was going to be relatively slow. Lucky for us, my wife and I had completed our forms before arriving. The parties in front of us came unprepared, so we were helped first. The entire process took about 25 minutes for the both of us. If everyone in front of us came prepared, we would have probably had to wait at least an hour. Anyways, moral of the story is to come prepared. Download the forms online and read the instructions. Use a black pen (they charge $1 per page to photocopy if you wrote in blue). Be sure to arrive around 8am, even on a week day. If you're much later than that, you'll be in line for a while. read more

I'd just like to say that Keith is very kind, professional, and courteous. I came to pick up a package that was not delivered even though I was home all day on the day of scheduled delivery. I was a bit grouchy and also told him about how I called this location to figure out what happened and how someone picked up the phone but didn't answer--just put the receiver down because all I heard was the clacking of a keyboard as the person typed -_- All that's to say, Keith heard my complaints and though he didn't fix the issues for me, he advised me on writing a formal complaint and restored my faith in USPS. United States Post Offices are really depressing. Seriously they are like a horse-drawn carriage at the dawn of automobiles. This one is no different...it gets the job done but is showing its age. The building looks a little like it was built and designed in the 70's. Just like at other Post Offices the workers were nice but they seem overworked. And to be honest its kinda like going to the DMV...the line always seems to go really slow partially because not a lot of the processes at the Post Office are automated yet and they are very labor intensive. Not my favorite place to go but its the closest one to my house so I end up here most of the time...but to be honest if I had something I needed done overnight or was time sensitive I would probably go through UPS or FedEx. :0) read more

This is my local post office so it's the only one I visit. Mostly for convenience. I'm here at least 3 times a month for errands so I figured it was time to give them a review. I will second everyone else's sentiments regarding a few things. Yes, it's always crowded. But if you go at a certain time, say post lunch, the crowd is smaller. Yes, the customer service could be better. They obviously need to hire more people. Sometimes when it's super busy, people will still go on break despite the long line. Obviously, they need a break and have a right to one, but if they had sufficient staff there wouldn't be a crowding problem. Yes, most of the tellers seem like they're always cranky. Again, this could be because they're overworked and understaffed. Personally, I've had interactions with the old timers who see me often enough that we've established a rapport. Marina is my personal favorite. She's professional and nice. The new guy Todd is also very nice. It could be because he's new. I hope he stays that way. For the people who complain about the line for the passport office, look at the upside - you don't have to go to L.A. Also, the library offers passport service. Overall, I like this place. All their problems can be fixed if they hired more people. It would benefit everyone. Lines wouldn't be as long and your staff won't be overworked and maybe smile more. read more

I lost my passport (and later found it but it was too late to save it because I already reported it lost) and I applied for a new one here. They have applications here for renewing and first time applicants so if you don't have ink your printer, no worries there :) The passport section of the post office is located in a smaller room toward the right entering from the main entrance. Doreen helped me out (who also works the postal counter) and was friendly & fast at handling my paperwork. They can also take your passport picture here but it costs $15 and I got mine taken at Walgreens for $10. Jussaying. They mix up my mail all the time. Many times I've received packages and they're marked as delivered but they are no where to be seen. I've seen them drop mail on their way to the car without noticing. There's nothing wrong with mistakes, except for when you're not trained enough to notice them. What gets me about this post office though is that you can't reach them on the phone. They system has been down for a month now and it still hasn't been fixed. If you're reading this and you have a choice for sending mail, use another service, not USPS. read more

This post office is conveniently located in North Oxnard. The hours they are open are not what it used to be. Every time I go by its open less and less hours. They do keep the stamp machine, PO box and Mail drop off side open more hours than the clerk side. The parking lot is small and can be a bit of a challenge. The line for the clerk service can get crazy long too especially during the holidays. The seems to be a shortage of clerks and they are not that friendly either. read more

I don't see why so many bad reviews. I have come to this location during lunch time and on Saturdays and I have not had a bad experience. Granted it does get really busy after work so I tend to avoid that time. I have been here for both the passport business side and for the post office side. The clerks at the post office side were managing the long line quickly. The lady who attended me ( Hispanic) I wish I had her name, was really nice. I make custom cards for penpals and told me I needed to send it as a small package due to its thickness ( note to self to use thin paper next time) but I told her it was just a letter inside a card, it was a small size envelope! (I may or may have not been on the bitchy/sassy side :/) so she said she would ask in the back. She said she would send it as regular mail but advised me about the thickness (thank you! No need to fill the customs paperwork). I asked for a specific kind of stamps and she was sweet enough to offer other pretty ones as well. So I ended up happy. Passport side: yes it gets crowded. It's a first come, first served basis. So my advice is to have your paperwork ready, check or money order and bring your PATIENCE along. Once your name is called they are quite speedy. read more

Where do I start with this sh*t show? If you dislike the DMV, multiply that experience by 100 and you have the Oxnard Passport Services. First of all, anticipate at least a 2 hour wait. AT LEAST. So I get there at 12:30. The entry to the building itself is blocked off by a podium and a sign in sheet. The podium itself is not manned and there is nobody there who can really help you in any way. Not that they seem to care anyway. So I sign up and see there are 8 people in front of me. No problem, I allowed for 2 hours before I had to pick up one of my kids from school. This place calls a person every 30 minutes or so. Not sure what takes them so long, but whatever. They get paid the same no matter how productive (or unproductive) they are. I should also mention THERE ARE NO BATHROOMS ON SITE. About an hour in I had to go, but decided to hold it just in case my name was called. So it's now 2:30 and I have to leave to pick up my kid from school. I look at the list and see there are still 4 people ahead of me. Judging by the pattern of inefficiency I described, I figured I had plenty of time. WRONG. Apparently these people decided they wanted to get off on time and actually start working. I get back about 30 minutes later and magically 9 people were called during my absence. I figured well I'll just explain what happened when I see the lady who shows up at the podium every 30 minutes. She finally shows up and I quickly explain what happened and pointed at my name. She completely ignores me, calls the next name on the list and says "If you're not here you go to the back." I think this must be a strategy of theirs. Take about 1 person an hour and build the wait time to about 4 hours. This way people will not sign up and others will just leave. Meaning they can do less work. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. However, it's really the only place to go for a passport. And some of you lunatics want these people running our healthcare. read more

Big enough post office with extended hours, later than the other near by branches. We were able to stop by after work which was a big plus. Lines were long, which was a minus, but we were able to get our needs (eventually) taken care of. If possible, I would go to another branch that's less busy, but glad this one is here if you need it. Susie checked me in, Kim helped me. This is a federal building with federal employees. They are not paid well and don't get paid to deal with stupid people or angry/frustrated people. Showing up late is your fault, not theirs. Reading the reviews, I love that the people who never leave + reviews think their reviews will carry weight. I had all my paperwork in order, in black ink, and I was only 5 min before my appointment. Technically, that makes me late. Susie asked my name and time, reviewed and organized my paperwork, and gave me clear instructions on what to expect. Kim let me in when it was my turn and helped me with my paperwork. The entire process for a first-time passport took 1 hour. I had 3 or 4 people (families with multiple passports needed) in front of me. I've been to DMVs, Post Offices, and larger federal buildings. I do not appear normal and usually get mistreated or judged. At Oxnard USPS, I showed up with manners and received manners back. I have 0 complaints and feel that maybe some of the bad reviewers projected their frustration, which in turn reflected back to them. Speak how you would like to be spoken to, don't trespass and steal federal documents without first asking, read instructions, don't interrupt the agent, and be polite, and your visit is smooth regardless of how bad their day is so far. Horrible customer service. My family and I had a 9 am appointment to renew our Passports. We got their at 9:15 and the lady (Kim) checking-in people told me , in a loud voice, in front 15-20 people that I was late. I explained to her that we got there at 9:15 but she argued with me and told me In a very rude tone, that I was lying to her and told me to wait outside to fill out the forms. After that I came back and told her that she should be nicer to people and not accuse people of lying period, she denied it and rudely walked away. Then a manager (Kevin) came and told us they could not accomodate us because I was "rude" to her employee and had to come back. I told him I was not rude at all but he told me he was not gonna argue with me, so we walked away. I understand that we were at fault for being late, but being treated like rubbish and being talked down to, crossed the line. read more

Even if you email them or blow up the phone, they'll get to you when they want. This review is for the PASSPORT SERVICE, and specifically employee by name of 'Kevin' nametag displays 'level 7' whatever that means.... On two separate occasions I got to experience the HORRIBLE attitude and persona that Kevin is. The first time, I simply said... Okay maybe he's having a bad day. The second time, I WAS astounded at the immense lack of humanity this person has. He was extremely rude, condescending, unhelpful, and dismissive... I had an appointment and the confirmation number, he told me I wasn't on the list, yet I had a confirmation number... I was very understanding and patient (I have worked in customer service and have learned to appreciate and respect all service at any and all business places, institutions,etc.) But he was rude, dismissive and basically told me to leave and it wasn't his problem. When I asked if I could speak to someone else he simply said 'I don't have time to see another person', when I asked to speak to a manager (and believe me I was still being polite despite how rude he was... And text does not do justice for his snarky attitude and condescending tone) he said 'I am the Manager' which I HIGHLY doubt. I have not returned and NEVER want to return to that location just to not have to deal with the miserable guy. I will however return to file a complaint. read more
