Too many lost packages or not receiving mail at all. They may be overwhelmed but a solution for the poor service needs to be found.

I was nervous that my daughters dress would be late for her birthday party. the person sending it had sent it to the wrong address. Tracking showed that it had gone to a couple different post offices around the East bay trying to find us and may have even been sent back to the UK! I talk to the people at this post office, gave them my phone number on a piece of paper, and ask for them to please call tif they got a package for me. They called me a couple hours later and happily told me I could come pick it up even though it was almost closing time. Anytime I've gone in they have been very pleasant. Getting baby chicks delivered today and expecting the same experience. Update: just called to ask about the baby chicks, wasn't sure if I needed to pick them up or they'd be delivered. First call I had a busy signal, second call a very pleasant person answered the phone and said they'd call me as soon as they arrived. read more

I can't speak for everyone in the Oakley post office but TONY IS GREAT!! He goes above and beyond to make sure everything is taken care of for the costumer. Today I was sending something out of state and it was my first time doing that. He helped me package it and answered all my questions. It's rare to find workers like this now days. Went in to mail a pair of shorts. The package was 13.1 ounces. Something popped up on the screen the guys said to say yes I barely got a glimpse. It had something about hazardous and perfume. I couldn't read because I had a person dropping off packages 2 feet from me.. we're suppose to wear masks and keep a 6 feet distance and not to mention the person in the back cams out with no mask on and was talking to a costumer. They told me my package was going to be $13 to mail back. That is crazy for a pair of shorts considering online saids the most it should be is $5. I will not be returning to this postal office especially considering during a pandemic there not offering a safe environment. read more

On two different occasions I called and made passport appointments. Both times we showed up early and they claimed we didn't have appointments! They refused to help us, inspite of having appointments and all of our documents ready. Another crap government run business. read more

Horrible. This is the reason why they have bad reputation is because of the people that work here. They left a notice at my door and I went to go pick it up, but left the notice at home. They refused to look up the package for me even though I knew what kind of service was used to deliver. I stood in line for the longest time for nothing. Felt like I was standing in line for immigration. I had to come back the next day and the guy looked it up and only took him no more than 30 seconds. Terrible service- mail carriers place packages in street view for thieves. Drive by then leave notice in mailbox stating unsecured area will be redelivered as if I will be standing in front on my house the next day. What's wrong with ringing doorbell? Need common sense and customer service training if they want to deal w the public. read more

I had requested for redelivery of a package on the 16th. It was not delivered. When I called the post office they said it was sitting there.This is not the first time it happened. Actually I don't believe they even attempted to deliver the package before leaving the pink slip in my mail box. We need a better post office for Oakley. read more

Mail is regularly misdelivered. My neighbors mail delivered to my mail box or my mail delivered to my neighbors mail box. Lastly. A package being sent to me was sent without sufficient postage. Instead of the post office returning it to the sender they ask me to pay the missing postage. Have fun sending the package back to sender for no $. Stop wasting my time for your mistakes. If the sender didn't send it with sufficient package why would you ship it all this way and ask for money? You messed up. read more

The staff here is rude, unprofessional and just plain not smart. After telling me they would fulfill a request for me they turned around and ingnored it. If I could only rate it less! We've had trouble with our mail delivery for the past year. I've received mail for my neighbor, the guy up the street, the lady 3 blocks over and someone in Bethel Island "Not even my city". I've complained several times , twice to the manager and have had no results or culpability. We've also lost over $15,000 worth of checks in that were mailed to our address. We have a community mail box. We had break ins. No warnings. So they decided to change all the locks-for everybody. Good move except they keep it a secret. When I go to get the mail, my key won't work. I don't know if I lost the right key or what. A note on the box would have been nice. If you have to go there, bring a lunch. read more

One of the best post offices I have ever been to. Great friendly people that actually take the time to get to know you. PO Box rental is the cheapest in the area. Only bad side is limited hours for the lobby. read more

As others have previously noted, I could not reach the office via phone. The phone rang over and over again. It then hung up. I had no other recourse but to file a complaint with USPS regarding a botched mail forwarding issue. The complaint department notified the Oakley office and the Oakley office called the next day. The office employee told me he believed he had notified me regarding the issue previously, which he most definitely had not. The solution he had to my problem was absolutely not acceptable so I was directed to speak to USPS consumer affairs and I am awaiting their response. FYI I was given a return call number as 925-625-5687 which was actually answered. Perhaps this number will be useful to others in the future. It appears the only option available when dealing with this office is to contact USPS directly. I will update regarding the efficiency of USPS. So far, they appear to be responsive and accommodating. read more

No answer on telephone. Still waiting for a package which was to be delivered Thursday. Tracking says I asked that it be forwarded to another address which I did not. I've been at the same address since 12/1989. Now it says I can't have tracking updates. I needed the products when they were promised by the seller. Whether or not the address was screwed up by the seller, Oakley is a small city with one zip code. Amazon was contacted. The package should have been delivered by now. I don't go there often, but when I do....The gentleman that works there is very rude...Coming to conclusions without listening to an issue; giving attitude, ripping the paper off my hands before I even get a chance to write my address...Kindergarten at its finest. Yet to find an USPS office where I could actually enjoy my visit and interact with well-mannered people. So if it is true, and USPS is coming to an extinction, it will not be missed. read more

Yvonne is extremely rude. I went there on a Saturday at 12 noon hoping to get a lock change for my new home mailbox. Yvonne stated that the person that could help me with that service had gone home. She suggested that I call back during the week. I called back during the week and the person who answered told me to come in person. I told them that I did and that Yvonne told me to call. She said that she was unsure why Yvonne told me that but to come back. I went back the following weekend on a Saturday at 12 noon again. Yvonne was there again and the only person handling the line. I asked her for the service again and she seemed so irritated that I was back. She finally agreed to process my request. She rung me up for $40.00 and took down my address for the mailbox lock change. I want stunned at how easy it was and how she just flat out had refused to help me by bold face lying the weekend before. She is not welcoming or nice. read more

The manager is rude and incompetent. I came in with my 2yr old for a passport photo once and he did not know how to use the camera! 2nd time I waited 30 mins to get yelled at, that's right... One of the employees who walked in 30 mins before they opened knew what I was there for but failed to tell me I needed an appointment, 20 mins later she comes our to tell me her mngr won't let them take my photo bc they're going to be super busy upon opening! I politely told her that I need my photo taken as I've been waiting this long and I had an appointment for passport, she said she was going to ask him, she didn't come back so I assumed it was going to be ok... 1min before opening he opened up the door and yelled at me across the small room where we wee all standing in line that he was not going to take my photo bc I did not have an appointment and if I wanted to come back 2hrs later he could make an exception and take my photo. I told him I needed it done as I had been waiting and I couldn't come back later, plus no one told me about the need for an aptmnt and it does not state on their wall. He wouldn't even let me talk, I tried to approach him bc I was so embarrassed by the crowd watching his attitude towards me and he simply starts "pushing me away" from a distance (not literally). I've never felt so humiliated in my life. I walked out of there feeling like a street dog. I literally cried in my car while buckling my daughter into her seat. I filed a formal complaint, his mngr called me to defend her employee. I will never go there again and would not recommend it to friends and family. read more

so i complained to the usps dept on line, we have a 12 box mail box in a house neighborhood. hate walkin down the block to get mail, now they closed off the outgoing slot...their answer...once i empty my box, place my outgoing right side up in the back of my box...problem is i pick up my mail twice weekly. how r they supposed to know when its old mail or new??? so stupid!!!! open up the outgoing box!! never had mail stolen out of mail slot...ugh!!! read more

Yelp forces 1 star. Otherwise, I'd rate them a -1! Lost my mail that included money orders purchased and mailed from their location. When trying to track them, I was advised by Yvonne who lacks customer service tremendously, that my money order receipts weren't enough. I e read the form and the employee's instructions are shown which mentions only the money order receipt is needed. I told her I purchased these from this office, from YOU in fact. She smirks and shrugs her shoulders, showing her lack of empathy. My question to her "so I don't locate the draft receipt, my $1400 is just a wash?" This ***** tells me with her head nod yes. At that moment I had to exit stage left because I need to show up for work tomorrow. Catch my drift?!! I will definitely be filing a complaint and not to the office manager. This is the typical of unionized government employees who have no accountability! I've been tracking a package for over a week, a very expensive package which was supposed to be delivered on Monday December 23, 2013. I looked at the tracking again that night, there was no update at 8 pm on the 23rd. After looking at the tracking again, finding my package (first class) STILL had not been delivered on the 24th. I find on the tracking page that a notice was left, Monday the 23rd. There was no notice left at MY house! I made a special point of being home, available ALL day to receive this package. The 24th of December when I actually realized something was wrong, I called, as stated in a previous review, the phone was busy. I went to the post office at 2pm. The office was closed at 12:30... Christmas eve. I'm writing this now, knowing that I will be waiting until Thursday the 26th until they open at 8:30am to see if my package was delivered to the wrong address, or if it's sitting in the post office. Incompetent, and lazy only begins to describe the words I have for the people who work at this post office. It's not very helpful to close early on Christmas eve, when the carriers can't even deliver the packages they're supposed to, to the proper destinations. If I hadn't been tracking this package, I still wouldn't have known that they supposedly left a notice at the wrong address. read more
