It is actually a federal government building that has a few courtrooms and the bankruptcy court upstairs, but the first floor houses the historic post office. There is lovely interior architecture that takes you back in a time. In short: It's classy. Second, it is friendly. I have a post office box here and work nearby, so it is my primary place to deal with the USPS. The people working here are friendly, helpful, and never rude. It can from time to time get a little understaffed, but about 80% of the time there is no wait because this is not a very heavily trafficked location, especially in comparison to others. Finally, the service is smooth and easy. My mail is always in my post office box early (usually before 9am), and they usually leave my packages in the larger bins down the hall. I just take the key left in my box, open the drawer, and there's my package! No waiting, no lines, no hassle! Also, they even sell cards at this location, which has saved me on a few locations. The downsides are limited. One, there is no parking (other than street parking), but that's no issue for me because I am downtown for work anyway. Two, they are not open on Saturdays, but again.. I am not down here then because I don't work Saturdays. For my needs, this is my favorite post office hands down.

This has happened on at least 80%of my packages from this year. The facility also leaves much to be desired, old outdated often smelly and dirty.

Add a toddler at your feet to the mix and you might as well consider the experience a disaster-in-the-making. Still, if there's a post office that can get four stars during the most difficult season then they're a great branch to visit year round. I've now been to the Garland location three times in less than four days. I should really be better about packaging and mailing everything at once but I'm not so I found myself on their doorstep over and over again. The staff are friendly and attentive. Last night they had an extra member out in the lobby making sure folks who were simply there to grab a package received it right away because lets face it, there is nothing worse than standing in the same line with every one trying to get ride of stuff when all you want is to pick up a damn box. I love the self serve station at this location as well. There's almost never more than a person or two in that line and it's quick and convenient. I prefer to give my money to smaller businesses and less to the federal government at any chance I get. I enjoy supporting small businesses and this one is no different. Sending to an APO overseas can be tricky and if the shipping sheet has one mistake then your package will never make it or it will make it months later. Not once, have i experienced a problem with my package not making it to it's destination! Allison is typically the woman who helps me and 9 out of 10 times I am shipping to my fiance in afghanistan. At this point she practically knows me name and we exchange friendly banter as soon as I walk in. What an awesome business They have every size and shape box imaginable here, all packing supplies one could ever need... PEANUTS FOR DAYS They ship for every major shipping company, they make copies of keys, they have p.o.boxes for rent along side their copy and print center.
