The counter workers are always helpful and friendly, depite sometimes being short-staffed. One of them is funny and makes eveyone laugh. I also like the building itself, not too big, not too small, and the location with easy parking. read more

I love this building and was happy to see that the post office is still like it used to be! The workers are very friendly and that is positive. I honestly don't trust mailboxes outside a post office any more because of all the craziness in the world so I wanted to go inside to mail my things! No problem. Easy to do. There is a worker there that was so rude to me. I'm super passive and not good with confrontation. I felt super uncomfortable when I was in there yesterday and just left and will never return. I'll go to any other USPS from now on. She also almost cost me $100 extra because she doesn't know how to do her job. Working at a post office, you should know a little bit about your stamps. She was trying to tell me I needed extra postage on my letters when in fact I didn't. The stamps in question can mail my letters with 1 stamp. She wanted to have me put 2 stamps on them and was very aggressive about it. I went to another post office where I explained my situation and they confirmed that I only needed one stamp per letter. They put my letters on a scale, had me put one stamp on them and they mailed out perfectly fine. I had a bad vibe from the start also because she was giving the lady in front of me trouble when she wanted to mail a letter out. It was a simple request the customer had and the worker had nothing but rude attitude towards her. It was like the worker didn't want to do her job. The request was such a simple one. She even rolled her eyes at her in front of her. The lady was so nice and timid too and you could tell her feelings were hurt by the workers behavior. I was in a massive state of shock and nervous to even go up when it was my turn. Turns out I was right because she gave me nothing but issues too to the point I just took my mail and walked out totally flustered by her behavior towards me. This woman should not be working there. I was notified that my package scheduled to be delivered Friday had arrived at this USPS location on Thursday. Naturally I pounced on the opportunity to pick it up myself because I was hype & a slave to immediacy. I called and the guy who answered was wildly patient in searching for my package which had gotten there less than 5 minutes before, and confirmed I could come grab it. I thanked him but told him I had a predicament: I have to ride my bike to get there but no chain to lock it, any suggestions. He told me to call back when I arrive and we'd figure something out. This man/angel came outside and hand delivered my packaged to me on my bike. Maybe my bar for people being helpful is cynically low but I felt this guy went out of his way just because and was super kind about the whole thang - esp during a time I imagine has gotta be more stressful than usual for the USPS. read more

I go out of my way to avoid Marblehead's post office because the staff are disrespectful to their customers. I've had my letters delivered open on several occasions. There are a couple of older ladies who are just plain rude to you. The post master has given up and doesn't care to straighten out the complaints. read more

Honestly, this is the best post office I've been to locally. And I ship a LOT of packages, almost every day. The clerks are always so nice!

Sending a small house key in a birthday card envelope back to Montreal after forgetting to leave it at the Air BnB. They made me fill out a customs form and wouldn't let me send it at the $1.15 first class rate and insisted that it had to be $10.50. When she saw the shocked look on my face and I said I'm not paying that, she said "it's going to another country! What you want to pay?!" I responded "two dollars! It's a house key." her: "but it's another country." Me: "it's 5 hours away from here. I just drive it yesterday." I did not win the argument, obviously. I regrettably paid it, but in hindsight, I should have left and put it in a birthday card and taken it to Salem. read more

The woman on my route wouldn't deliver my mail because, and I quote from the person on the phone at the Marblehead post office, "She is a stickler". Last I checked, government run mail delivery services aren't supposed to pick and choose where they deliver mail, they are supposed to deliver it. I had 5 checks (thats close to $5,000) not make it to my house because this "stickler" wouldn't deliver mail with my company name on it, which happens to also be my name. GET OVER YOURSELF!!!!!!!! FEDEX AND UPS HAVE ALWAYS, ALWAYS, DELIVERED TO MY ADDRESS REGARDLESS OF THE NAME OR BUSINESS NAME ON IT!!!!!!!!! You almost had me working at the 7-11 because of YOUR failure to do YOUR job, not MY failure doing MY job. That is not fair. Every time I receive one of those checks that you are supposed to deliver to me, a percentage gets taxed and goes to paying your salary....DUHHH. ...on a side not, since I complained to the post office, the "stickler" has decided to put all junk mail from previous residents and also has misplaced neighbors mail in my box.....like I said, get over yourself and just do your job please. read more

In this era of budget cuts, deficits and downsizing, many of the bigger city post offices are slashing service. But the Marblehead Post Office soldiers on, still making four mail dispatches a day while most of the other post offices dispatch only once or maybe twice a day. If you need a letter or other mailing to go out pronto, and not sit in a bin until 5pm, Marblehead Post Office is where you want to go. The facility is full-service -- you can get a U.S. passport there, browse and purchase lots of useful USPS products and packaging, etc. It has ample parking, is clean, heated/AC'd and lit, well staffed, and has an automated DIY mailing center where you can buy stamps and even weigh, print out postage for and mail packages, 24/7 every day of the year (it's in the box lobby, which is always open and lit). I grew up in Marblehead and got a PO box at the Marblehead Post Office while I was still living in an apartment there. I moved to Salem 18 years ago and have kept that PO box all this time, and I do nearly all of my PO business at the Marblehead Post Office. In fact, the only time I set foot in the Salem Post Office is when I have to pick up a package or something that couldn't be delivered to my residence. The only down side is one that is universal to any post office, particularly if it is a town's one and only post office: If you go during lunch hour or close to the end of the day (when business people are bringing the day's correspondance and packages to be mailed), there will be a long line. Also, the high school is right behind the post office, so if you go when school is getting out, there will be a lot of student traffic. But that's really the only down side of this neat, clean, well run facility. Oh, and if you see "Mailman Bob," say hello. He's one of the nicest mail carriers ever to walk the streets of Marblehead, and I hear he has just a year left till retirement after decades on the job! read more

I was at Marblehead post office today. I needed to send a parcel. I printed TO and From addresses on a list of paper, but did not taped it to a parcel. When I asked post office worker for a tape, the answer was: "We don't have a tape to give it to you, but you can buy one". Seriously ?
