Nothing good about this post office. Super slow service. There are never enough people working here to serve the customers. End up waiting in line forever. The self service kiosk is never working. There is also no parking lot. This location needs a complete overhaul. read more

I have been going to this post office now and again since 1996. The decor has not changed one bit. Still the same cranberry, gray and blue motif from yesteryear. Still the same signs with the same font (minus some missing letters). Maybe, just maybe, the floor of this place was last swept in 1998 (and that's being generous). It's a mystery to me why a post office in an affluent city like Manhattan Beach is so decrepit. About the only thing that's changed here since I was a kid was the addition of the 24 hour self-serve machine. It helps a little, but there are some things that you just have to go inside for. Unfortunately, being chronically short handed is something else that has not changed in all these years. It seems like there is always a line, there's always a couple of people in said line that have a dozen packages to be sent out, and there's only one teller available. The Asian lady at the far left window is reasonably fast, but most of the other employees take their sweet ass time. This place gives the DMV a run for its money. Look, I understand that most of these government employees are phoning it in because they know they won't get fired and are just waiting to collect that fat pension. But come on man, a little hustling won't kill you. Go to the big post office on Catalina in Redondo Beach if you can't allocate a half hour to this location. read more

I had to express mail something here for work but just missed the deadline (2:59pm for next day delivery). This was probably due to the fact that parking around here was difficult and the line once I got inside was a very long wait. Anyhow, the lady was nice and helped me fill out the necessary form and she did 2-day air for the following day. read more

I agree that the service here is great ! I gave it 4 out of 5 stars just due to the holiday season...which is crowded EVERYWHERE... since lines are already longer then usual - and its a small place - a smidge less "holiday cheer chit-chat" might make the waiting customers a little less impatient. For the most part - always very friendly and efficient - and between this location and the one downtown MB....a world of difference - they move like molases at the other one. Stay away from this, the most awful post office. In a short period of time, they "lost" 2 packages delivered to my box. When I complained, the clerk at the counter said "Well, just tell the online seller and they will replace it". I could be wrong, but I got the feeling they're counting on that so that they're not held accountable. Always short-staffed, they will leave the counter alone ,and when they do show up, they are SO cranky, rude, disrespectful and downright mean to customers. Besides the fact there was only one worker at this location this morning and the line fairly long and slow, once I did get to her she was pleasant, knowledgable and fast. I know it's not their fault the budget cuts have cut employee staff, so I'm not faulting them for this. They have a wide selection of postal boxes for shipping and many greeting cards for sale. Went in to pick up an undeliverable package. My door tag clearly stated the hours were M-F 9am-7pm. I walked in on a Thursday at 5:02pm and a worker (who was still helping another customer at the counter) very rudely said "we're closed!" right as I walked through the door. I told him my door tag said open until 7pm and was rudely told "it's wrong!". I asked if he would be able walk back and pick up my package for me simply to be told, again rudely, "no, didn't you hear me? WE'RE CLOSED!" I wouldn't be mad if the computers going offline at 5:00 prevented them from working past 5:00 (not even sure if this is the case), the problem was clearly the attitude of the worker and the mis-labeled door tags. read more

Damn you certified mail, while this post office is a good size and doesn't have terrible parking, if you actually have to go to the counter make sure to give yourself an extra 15 minutes. There are 5 registers but I have never seen more than 2 people work at once, and that is a rare occasion in itself. So usually its one person with more than 7 customers waiting. So...yeah. read more

I don't have high expectations going to any post office, but this place is ridiculously slow moving. If you ever wanted to see what it looks like when a group of people look like if they got stuck in a bowl of jello, just come to this location. If I wasn't pressed for time (lunch hour) it would be more amusing. From my experience, there are two people at this location, who work somewhat efficiently, and are friendly despite the stereotype. The rest of them take their sweet, sweet, sweet, SWEET, time. More than once I've heard some snappy condescending comment to a customer. If these customers are asking questions it's because they don't know the answers, right? So rude. Also, if it's their end of shift, it's the end of their shift - period. It doesn't matter that there are 40 people in line. This goes even for the nice people. One star for being open. And another for having the self service station. read more

Hey folks, if you feel you aren't receiving enough junk mail, change your address to a POB and you will be VERY POPULAR! I changed a friend's address from her apartment to a POB in Manhattan Beach when she went into a nursing facility and all of a sudden she's getting tons of junk mail from companies I've never heard of. When she was living alone she got a few pieces, most of which I'd managed to get stopped, but now the floodgates apparently have opened and the POST OFFICE MUST BE SELLING HER NAME TO ADVERTISERS!! This is our go-to post office. We like to come late at night or on Sundays and use the self-service kiosk since we both send and return packages every now and then. No lines at all and plenty of parking! (If you do find yourself here during biz hours, there's a parking lot across the street) The only time I've ever interacted with an employee here was to mail my wedding invitations. She was prompt and understood my need for hand canceling the invites (hey, they were a labor of love and I didn't want a machine messing them up!). All in all, I'm very satisfied with this particular PO locale. Just an FYI- if you come late Sunday night to drop off a big package keep in mind the drop box might be pretty full, esp during December. Let's just say we learned that the hard way. read more

After my awful experience at the Hawthorne (Inglewood Blvd.) post office today, I think I will stick to this one for future postage needs. The lady in Hawthorne actually went 'postal' on me. She threatened to call 911 on me when I insisted on writing down her name before I moved from her window. There are so many nice people out there who would love to have a good government job like that... Beware of Gwendolyn! Is this branch really affiliated with USPS? It was open on a Saturday, which was shocking. There was ample street parking out front as well as a lot in back. I went in around 10am to find ten people in line in front of me. Great. To my utter surprise, I was up at the front of the line within 5 minutes. There was only one worker on duty, but he was QUICK, EFFICIENT, and FRIENDLY to boot. To top things off, this post office actually had flat rate boxes available in the store. Wow I'm absolutely SHOCKED from the previous person's review. This post office has repeatedly given me the BEST service I could ask for. I think probably the staff changed, since his review was from two years ago. There are usually two people that work there when I usually go in. They are friendly, helpful, and patient. They take as much time as they need to with you and don't rush you at all. Sometimes there's a line and they are kind of slow because there's only two workers, but I think it's worth the wait since they take there time with each customer. read more

I visited this location today to ship a package and the women behind the counter was probably the worst person I've dealt with in as long as I can remember. Barking at every person that went up and just absolutely so intolerable and rude I had to just leave. Almost ruined my afternoon. I would recommend you stay as far away as possible from this place unless you enjoy getting yelled at and being around the worst type of energy you can imagine. Shame on USPS for allowing this type of behavior. Look up any locations reviews really and you'll just come across bad experiences. This needs to be dealt with. I had some of my neighbors' mail--while delivering to her she was delivering other wrong mailings to her neighbors. Later the afternoon I had a second or third delivery from other neighbors. Stopped by this post office to drop off some returns to Nordstrom and Sephora and waited in line so I could get a receipt to confirm drop off just in case things get lost (because they have in the past) and the attendant told me that next time I should just leave them with the rest of the packages because they will no longer be providing receipts for those types of drop offs. So I told her that's odd because I've been dropping off packages like this for ages at another location (the one on Artesia) and I've never been told anything like this and she said they're too busy to handle requests like that so eventually USPS will stop providing receipts .Well, I went to my trusty post office on Artesia today and asked the attendant about what she said and he shook his head and said "There's no reason why we wouldn't be able to provide you a receipt for drop off and there's no word on USPS from stopping that service." -_- So, basically, homegirl just didn't have time to deal with these sorts of requests - guess what, not my problem! Don't go spreading false information just because you're too lazy to do your job. Gosh, USPS, get it together. (Except the one on Artesia that one is bomb.) read more

So far, this is my favorite USPS in the South Bay! No one really enjoys waiting in line at a post office, especially when the employees are not helpful when you DO get your turn in line. That has been my experience at many of the USPS locations I have been to. I went in to this location on Friday and was already frustrated because I was attempting to ship some golf putters that I sold on eBay and there were no boxes that would accommodate their length. Richard was great. He saw that I was in need and instead of giving me an excuse he and I worked together to find a solution. They had small Priority Mail Tubes but they were only 1/2 the size of the putters, Richard and I stacked two together and he suggested I try making that work. I got creative at home and sure enough I was able to cut the end of one tube and squeeze it to fit inside the other tube, I taped the ends and the middle where I connected them and I had the perfect box! Score! Fedex wanted to charge $20-$40 to ship one putter. With Richard's creativity and problem solving and my innovation I was able to ship my putter out today for only $6.70. The lines can become long here but that is to be expected. The employees are always friendly and now, after this experience I can also say they are helpful and care about the customer experience. read more

Incredibly slow. The workers are really nice but I wish they would consider that there are people who come here during their lunch break which is only an hour. Can't they have an earlier or later lunch break? A speed line for those who have a real quick question or just want to send some basic domestic mail? And the parking lot ... it's pretty spacious BUT there are only 3 spots for customers. The rest are for employees. Looks like they only have two working here. read more

If you are completely out of options, only then should you subject yourself to the service provided at this post office. Some post offices have friendly employees - this is not one of them. Some post offices have intelligent employees - this is also not one of them. Around the holidays, it gets worse (I wouldn't want that job at that time of year either, but still...). There is usually only one open window despite 2-3 employees standing around watching this person work, even if the line is out the door (it's a very LONG line most of the time). The person working is usually discussing their next break with the employees watching (presumably they're on break currently?) and not paying any attention to the customer. I don't generally expect much from government employees, and this post office is absolutely no exception. In the past 7 years, the faces and negative attitudes have remained the same. The Redondo Beach Main post office on Catalina is staffed by efficient and helpful employees; you would be doing yourself a favor by driving the extra few miles and saving yourself the headache. read more

I decided to get a post office box because I move so frequently. I've kept this P.O. box for years because it's convenient. My biggest complain remains the same...I ALWAYS get other people's mail. Which means that SOMEONE ELSE IS GETTING MY MAIL. If I always get mail for the box above or beside mine, then I can only assume that the person next to me is getting my mail. I most recently had a prescription that had been OPENED, presumably by someone else who also subscribes to a box here. The person was kind enough to return it to the post office where they put it in my box, but it WAS OPENED! I feel very violated that the person who opened MY MAIL (a federal offense mind you) saw my name, my prescription, my billing info. The sad thing is this happens all the time. I constantly get mail for the boxes next to mine. I push them back inside so they hit the floor (that's what they told me to do) but it's literally every single time I go to pick up mail, about once a week. If they could improve their process so that mail delivered to the boxes actually matches the box numbers, I would give them 5 stars. I mean, the BOX NUMBER on the mail has to match the BOX NUMBER on the actual PO BOX! Please, improve the process so that I don't receive other people's mail and so that they don't receive mine and I have to trust that they will be honest and return the INCORRECTLY DELIVERED MAIL, unopened. read more

The employees at this location could not be any slower if they were actually asleep on their feet. They aren't necessarily unfriendly but standing in line and watching them is pretty much the same as watching grass grow. I ordered an extra key to my po box 4 months ago and still have not received it. I went to the office to find out why on Sat . After standing in line for 30 min I was told to call back on Monday to talk to Vanita. I tried to call numerous times for two days and nobody picked up the phone. So that means I have to take time off from work during the workday and wait inline again in order to find out what is up with the key I ordered. September 14th I sold an item on EBay with a address in Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. To insure speedy delivery I delivered the package to this post office drop off box. Parking in rear is large enough for 3-4 cars, rest of the spaces are marked Employee or NO PARKING, very small. I would have delivered directly to my buyer but EBay must have shipping tracking as proof of delivery to release my funds. Instead of Post Office delivering 6 blocks away, it was sent to Santa Clarita and then to another facility in Los Angeles, then to another facility before being placed on the courier for delivery. No wonder our government so broke. But then that is the American way, waist the tax payer money to generate jobs. But on the Economic side of this, USPS was the lowest cost over FED EX or UPS. Lucky this was the weekend and the package was given a scenic route.The package was still delivered on Monday 6 blocks from the Post Office where it started from. read more

Our mail has been arriving as late as 8:00pm. On April 27th, at 7:45pm, the postman had a certified letter for us which required a signature. We WERE home but he didn't ring the doorbell. He left a small pink slip stating he had attempted to deliver the letter at 7:45pm on April 27th. We filled it out, signed it requesting re-delivery of the letter. As of May 6th we still had not received it. I also sent a request for re-delivery through the internet for re-delivery. As of yesterday, May 9th, we hadn't received the certified letter. My husband has cancer. I have Multiple Sclerosis. It is VERY difficult for either of us to stand in line at the post office. BUT....at 6:46 last night I was so fed up I went to the post office. There was only one person in line. The gentleman found the letter, gave it to me and said there was no "pink slip" attached to it requesting re-delivery. He agreed with me that this was COMPLETELY unacceptable. When I call the post office the phone just rings and rings and rings. I understand the post office is incurring financial hardship....BUT, possibly this is one of the reasons. read more
