Always professional and courteous. The staff is so polite and different than most post offices. Nice people .

This was once a beautiful example of early 20th century public works buildings in the middle of…read moreSteelton. The deco elements, high ceilings, and brass remind us of a time when the post was elegant and formal. It has been painted over, whitewashed, left neglected or built over for the modern post office. Full service has been friendly but I often find the office understaffed and even ringing the bell doesn't bring someone to the window with the first few tries. Don't even bother calling them. Parking is limited but then it does not seem to be busy when it is open. Handicapped parking is limited and hard to find. You'll have to take the steep stairs if you can't find the one spot available. If you're local, it's fine for dropping off or getting a money order in the middle of the afternoon. Just check the hours. I maintain a PO Box here for my basic business transactions and correspondence. I still collect the mail of the previous renter for some reason and have to turn it in.

Update: We moved but I still go through Steelton at times, and I FORGOT about my last Yelp review…read morefrom November. And UGH, it is still horrific service there. I had two international packages to send, and I totally SHOULD have went elsewhere. I was the only one there when I arrived. The bank goblin from Harry Potter was writing something and VERY SLOWLY put his pen aside and asked to help me as I was awkwardly standing there. He told me I needed to fill out the slips, and so I was like "can I have a pen?" and he SLOWLY handed me one. I filled the 2 slips out lickity split and before he could inhale another breath I was back. He SLOWLY took the first package and my soul told me I would be standing there a VERY LONG TIME. He took an eternity to type. I had to help him spell things. Meanwhile customers were arriving behind me and my foot started to twitch. I looked at my son waiting behind me with a knowing glance, and I also made eye contact with the other worker with "HELP" on my face. He asked the goblin if he needed help but he said "no" and I was like "um, yes he does, please take over" I apologized profusely to the people behind me because I felt so bad even though it wasn't my fault at all. I hated that I needed stamps also, because the total time I was there was almost 45 minutes to mail two packages. EXPENSIVE packages, I might add. Who pays 20 dollars to send Skittles to Denmark? This dumb ass that is a pen pal and a loyal one. Do yourself a favor and go to ANOTHER post office. I am done here. Also, he NEVER apologized to the people that had been waiting, the ones that were left! Half of them left in pure frustration.

We needed a bilingual document properly notarized by a notary fluent in Chinese and English to be authenticated in order to send it to China in order to conduct a business transaction. It is possible to mail the necessary papers to the particular office in Harrisburg along with a $15 per certification fee, and get it back in approximately one month. Or, we could drive to the state capitol and accomplish the same task in about 15 minutes; walking out with all we needed to send everything to China immediately. We opted to make the 110 mile trip each way and just get it done. It went exceedingly well. We drove the in two hours in a light snowstorm, found a place to park about a block from the "North Building," went through security, up to the second floor and into Room 201. There we were basically alone with Brenda, the official clerk dispensing postilles, who was bright and helpful. We filled out a form, handed over the notarized document with credit card payment of $15, and received the gold seal apostille in minutes. We couldn't believe how easy it was once we got to town. We thanked Brenda for her kind assistance and walked out into the blowing flurries to have lunch at Roxy's, the nearby historic luncheonette. Pro Tip- Parking is an issue in that part of town. We found parking in front of the State Museum about a block away. Metered parking, but only $4 for 4 hours. Way worth it.
