US Post Office here in Mount Joy is probably one of the most delightful mail experiences I've ever had. The staff (it's usually the same person every time I go) is friendly and congenial--they actually seem like that want to be there. Normally, there's never a line or only one other person being waited on. I did go the other day during the holidays to send a couple of packages and there were several people in line. However, by the time I took care of all of my taping and addressing my boxes, the line had diminished and I only waited for about two minutes for my turn to be up. When I lived in Suffolk, Virginia, the post office there closed for an hour during lunchtime and they had a larger staff. Well, Mount Joy is a much smaller town with a smaller staff yet I do not see any closures during lunchtime. Take that, Suffolk! Their hours are: M-F 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. There are PO Boxes but no 24 hour access (M-F 5am-5pm, Sat 5am-3pm, Sun-closed). This facility does not process US Passports applications or renewals. There is a small parking lot to the right of the building and there is also a drive-up mailbox there as well. We live in an apartment so our mailbox is one of those large rectangular boxes with the doors and we have a key for our ""mailbox". Well we had been notified by a friend that their letter was returned to the sender and that's when I realized okay there's definitely a problem here. I called and thought everything would be taken care of. They told me to make sure I put our names in the mailbox and I put it in TWO places so there would be no confusion. Stack all the previous tenants mail and put a note saying return to sender/ forward to current address as they do not live here only deliver mail to "our last name". The mail man completely ignored the stack and note and placed another piece of their mail on top. Well I contacted the post office again to notify them that I just did everything and more to fix the problem and our mailman ignored it. So then they said they'd speak to him and fix the problem... well we started getting mail! But the thing is. My husband has had 6 pieces of mail by the bank with his debit card to come and hasn't received it. Even tried sending it to the main apartment housing office. But I've gotten my debit card in our mailbox since and even had to get a replacement for it and my husband has still not received his. So my question now is WHERE IS HIS 6 PIECES OF MAIL? I called again this past Thursday to notify them that we've started getting mail but my husband is still not getting his from the bank and it's not our banks fault, they have the correct information as my information is the same, it's a joint account AND we've double checked each time we've had to call the bank for a new debit card that hasn't been received because OUR POST OFFICE IS DOING SOMETHING WRONG... STILL... When I called this past time I let them know of this and asked if maybe they could check to see if it was at the post office for some reason... The woman said she would check, never heard back from her.

One cardboard box we used was originally from a liquor store, about 15 years ago. The clerk noted they could not mail liquor boxes, then volunteered to tape scratch paper over all the surfaces to avoid it getting flagged as a liquor box. (Just possessions, no flammables were inside.) Additionally, she wrote return addresses on boxes while I finished prepping the others. Amazing service! Thank you! Also, cheaper than the UPS Store, where I mailed other boxes.
