Although I had my friend's driver's license & necessary paperwork & explained that the friend was in my car outside & used a walker, worker refused to cash money order unless my friend came in & signed in person, which would Have required negotiating many steps. I am a senior woman who has never before been treated with suspicion (the worker asked another worker to confer in back while I waited). I was not at all demanding, will NEVER return & believe that employees should learn to treat the public with more respect.

If you're a young'un, and you were born after Stamps.com and Amazon and FedEx, a post office is where you used to have to go to send and receive packages, which you can still do today! Amazing, isn't it? You can also buy stamps, get money orders, apply for a passport, keep a PO box, send in safe and secure mail-in ballots to exercise your right to participate in a free and fair democracy, and more. Personally, I sent a box of old baby clothes to a cousin, and the folks behind the counter were efficient and helpful, and a credit to the fine organization that is the USPS. (No thanks to Postmaster General DeJoy, who we will hopefully see gone shortly.)

I went there so much, he and I were always on a first-name basis with each other. And although he's now not there as much as he used to be, the others who are tend to be just as accurate and trustworthy as he once was. Ernie, who was the person behind the counter, always use to make jokes when I use to walk up to him for a stamp, and we just got along great together. It was rare when he ever made a mistake in the mailing system. I'm sorry I couldn't describe the factors that came into being placed in this review a little better. Maybe, as Ernie cross-trains people, the people who he trains could actually help bring that enlightened sense/spirituality to this small kiosk in the Mall once again, and therefore bring his sense of humor out to bring more people to use this booth once again. And what's best, packages that were mailed under him, never once ever got lost or delayed due to his actions, so something had gone well under his direction. He was always "on top of his game" here. Thanks Ernie and USPS crew for making my days and life a little brighter. You always have been a light in my eye, and will continue to shine brightly through the many years I have yet to use in store for the remainder of my life.

Employee stated he's not in, he'll be in on Monday. When I mentioned the problem, knowing that mail delivery has been farmed out to USPS in Newburgh and we are missing mail or having it sent back with yellow stickers, he shrugged his shoulders, unconcerned and said, "yeah, Newburgh can't do their job." This post office is conveniently located in the center of the Village of Kinderhook just steps from…read morethe bank. A few new, high-end eateries recently opened just across the street. I like to grab a coffee, spend some time at the farmer's market on Saturdays, then pick up my mail and packages. There's ample municipal parking (directly in front of the building). Postal vehicles are tucked behind the building and out of sight. Service is friendly in this lovely historical building.
