As an architect with many print needs I've been a dedicated customer to Staples GB for as long as they've been there. Some of the staff is great and others not; very undependable and inconsistent. I was turned away from same day print service after being told the day before to come back first thing and it would get done. Unacceptable when one has a deadline. Unfortunately there are few options within an hours drive. The business community in great barrington is suffering from the big box store plight it tried to legislate out years ago. read more

Just left the store so excited to write this review. I just had the best experience ever with a printing person. I had these really old family trees that I wanted to make copies of and Beth from Staples today was my goddess. She is a perfectionist like me, and made them absolutely perfect. They were a little tricky because they were on two sheets but with the help of photo shop and her talent, she did it - all with a smile and waiting on numerous other customers. Then when I went to check out the cashier (#1907887)that helped me was also the best. She answered some questions and we had a nice conversation. On our trip to Great Barrington, we stopped by a Staples to ship out a huge package to Canada. What a great customer service we have received from Patricia and Meagan who worked that evening! The copy and print department is fantastic and almost always goes above and beyond to get your order done right despite being very understaffed, everybody in the tech department is extremely knowledgeable and eager to help, and when worst comes to worse, the general manager goes out of his way to make sure you leave the store happy. Not only if everybody incredibly nice, but the store is very well organized and put together. It really feels like the staff take pride in making sure the aisles and shelves look good and are easy to navigate, which is not something you see all that often anymore. I will be coming here for any of my printing and tech needs. Plus, the clearance wall in the back is always chock full of FANTASTIC deals. I hardly ever leave the store empty handed. read more

I don't know why this Staples is not always getting five stars! Jonathan in the computer department is outstanding. Way above and beyond in terms of knowledge and helpfulness. I wish this could be negative because that's what I would give it. I'm not one to leave poor reviews due to working customer service for many years and knowing the struggle but there was simply no excuse for how I was treated today. on Wednesday afternoon I had gone into the store and asked if I could put an iPad on hold until Saturday because of personal reasons. I go in today because I was told if I could come before Saturday then i could still release the iPad from its hold and I'm told that they couldn't hold anything for longer than 24 hours and that they can "look to see what they have left". the self proclaimed manager brings out the wrong iPad in an attempt to upsell me without my knowledge then when I correct the "mistake" he tells me that they don't have what I had put on hold in store but that they can order it I told them that it was fine and that I was quoted a specific amount and assumed that the prices would match just to find out it's $100 more for the same iPad and that they cannot honor the price that I was quoted because they "cannot justify the price quote". This manager lacks common empathy and is too incompetent to correct one of his employees whom he failed to train properly to begin with. I'm a college student simply trying to upgrade my stationary and electronic equipment and this was wrong on this self proclaimed managers part because he didn't even try to solve the problem. I didn't get his name but he was of Mexican heritage and shorter, this type of managing style is completely inappropriate and unhelpful. read more

Received a bad hp 63 ink cartridge online order from staples and Brandon at staples Gt barrington was not helpful at all. Would not exchange it as another employee told me would be no problem.....and then launched into it must be my printer. Not happy. Don't know how these places stay in business. I do have to giggle at the Yelp rating system at times. I am, by no means, a "fan" of Staples, or even this Staples in particular. (Why do I envision myself with pom poms shouting "Rah! Rah! Rah! GOOOO PENCILS!"?) I happily give this location four stars, however, because it is THE only office supply store for miles upon miles in any direction! If you don't go to Great Barrington, you'll either have to drive 30+ minutes down to Torrington, CT; an hour up to Pittsfield, MA; or an hour over to Hudson, NY. Those of us living in Northwestern Connecticut (or those, such as I, that spent many a year here) know that getting home office and office supplies is more than "simply running out for a minute." It's a trip to drive anywhere. This Staples is this shining beacon of ink, paper, and blank rewritable CDs. The store is amply stocked, there seems to be helpful staff...and...yeah! There you go! There isn't much else to say. It's a store that serves its purpose in a rural area and it does a good job at it. (P.S.: This is where the old Ames used to be. I miss Ames. *sigh* Right around where the giant paper section is used to be where the old toy department used to be. All those years, looking at Babries and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures... *sigh* Canary colored paper isn't nearly as exciting...) read more

This store is a God-send in our town. It is well-stocked and I have never left there without finding what I needed. Also, the tech support is great. My HP printer was not working so I dragged it down there. They figured out that the cartridge assembly had ink on it and cleaned it up and tested everything.....and no charge for this. Also offered to carry it back to my car. Great customer service! I am just thrilled to have this Staples here. read more

It's nice a town this size has Staples -- but the copy/print section is horrendous! It takes 2 or 3 trips to just pick something up! Never enough help since they started running shipping center in it! There is a better quik printer in town!! read more

Nightmare! Not only is the staff witless, the management could care less about customer service. I went in to have some documents scanned to a thumbdrive. After waiting 20 minutes for someone to help, even though the elderly manageress looked at me numerous times over the time that I was waiting, the staff member seemed at a loss about how to scan the items. He continually stated in his best "Aw Shucks!" manner that I sure had a lot to scan! After finally getting through to him that I needed the entire pile scanned, I asked the price: $.50 PER PAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!! No toner. No paper. And certainly no brain power. I just had a shockingly awful exchange with Staples at this location. I bought several office items including a mail box. I bent down to order my purchases and in the process inadvertently left the box behind. When I called to say I could com back in to pick it up, no one would acknowledge my order and they said I would have to buy it again. It's a small thing but indicative of how poorly trained staff cannot seem to accommodate a customer with a simple courtesy. They've lost my family's business, which over the course of a year amounts to quick a lot. read more

Five stars because it's THERE, and if it weren't I'd be driving to Albany. I never thought I'd celebrate a box store in the area, and don't want any more, but this is essential. I hope the town recognizes how important it is to the economic health of the area. Other than that it's a Staples, so you know what that means, and yay! UPDATE: My recently purchased pencil sharpener became clogged and unusable and when I took it back, Ruben persistently and methodically fixed it. Took about a half hour -- he was determined! Bad customer service. I bought a chair at this location and it ended up not being the chair we thought it would be during the few days we had it. I asked all along through the transaction and prior to the return process about the terms of the return and was reassured multiple times I was all set. From the moment I walked into the store and said I was there to return I was stonewalled and one cashier and one manager acted as if I was imposing some kind of cruelty on them because I needed a cash return. I was told I would have to take store credit only and the behavior displayed was clearly an attempt at presenting me as a difficult customer. I only became calmly irritated when I was essentially told store credit or nothing. I said this was not the terms discussed and not only are you trying to force me to not get a return, but you want me to give you the chair and you give me money to spend in a store I don't shop in at all. Then I was told to return it online, which you need the original box to complete, despite them having assembled the chair and disposed of the box without giving me the option to take it home. From the moment I arrived I was "encouraged" to pick a new chair as well. From reading reviews on various sites, it seems this "blame the customer" and "push the customer into taking credit" is a bit of an institutionalized behavior at this particular store. I have worked as a retail manager and the lack of competency about even baseline procedures and protocols is appalling, with one employee needing to ask two or three others for help just to complete a simple customer service related task and acting aggressively when they can't figure it out. I ended up calling another Staples. My return took five minutes and I got back all but the assembly fee for my chair which I was totally fine with. The fact that I tried to play it cool while be treated rudely and yet still got a irritable and aggressive reaction for something they didn't know how to do or want to remedy is ridiculous. The store I did return my chair to said that their store would have handled this a lot differently and would have helped me remedy the situation with a few simple basic procedural moves that all of their stores should know. Not shopping here ever again. I normally get all of my office supplies for my non-profit from this store (I personally don't shop at Staples for personal purposes), not anymore! read more

Not customer-friendly at all, requiring customer name and phone # for a quick print job is an invasion of customer privacy. Typical big box lack of engagement/pride in work. I'm sure trump will make it all great again though. read more
