I went in today to do a "scan & return" to amazon. This location told me that only corporate UPS locations could do this type of return. As I was about to say thanks & leave, the wonderful woman behind the counter said, "Can you log into Amazon? I'll show you what we can do." She proceeded to walk me through cancelling my return, scheduling an exchange, and printed a label out for me. She then said, "you're all set! Have a great day!" I had a good experience shipping a broken fishing rod to Wisconsin for replacement. The Packaging Depot took care of all the work needed for transporting the rod, I was In & Out in a matter of minutes. All I had to do was pay, they took care of everything else. For an odd shaped package like a 7 foot fishing rod, I'm glad they did all the work, didn't want to deal with that hassle at the Post Office. I'd use their services again in the future. read more

Very friendly service; they have a wide variety of packing options and creative solutions for anything you may need to ship. Supplies and packing service may be a little expensive, but with their protection guarantee, if they pack it, they'll cover any damages en route. They ship UPS, FedEx and DHL, and specialize in any eBay shipping needs. Not too shabby. read more

I went to a few various places to ship out a custom made antique window seating chart for a wedding. They were able to wrap it and shit it out with no problems. I recommend if you are nervous about shipping something to just make sure it is insured. Great customer service. I think the previous posts were exaggerated a bit to be honest. Items (2) were obviously over-packed in over-sized box w scraps of dirty bubble-wrap, crumpled brown bags, wads of newspaper & FOUR peanuts for filler (no joke)! Yet, just two thin layers of bubble on the bottom to cushion the one valuable item they were shipping for me -- talk about padding the bill with GREED, had to see it to believe it (yes, I have photos). Amanda and Wayne are the best!! I had an unusual request regarding the pickup of fragile merchandise outside of Litchfield and packing/shipping it out of Torrington. Amanda and Wayne made it happen and couldn't have been friendlier or more professional. Communication both over the phone and via email was excellent and my fragile items arrived intact. Please keep in mind this is a small family business and shipping boxes is all they do. They are not also selling sheetrock or printers to help pay the rent. The people that own and work there are good honest people trying to make a living like the rest of us. I have used them for years and always had great service. I have used The Packaging Depot twice in recent months. After my grandmothers passing there were several items I wanted to ship back to my house in California. The first was a large piece of art. They packaged it perfectly and it arrived exactly when they said it would. The second item was a delicate stained glass lamp that my grandfather had made. Again, it was packaged perfectly! My elderly parents have used this service twice- both with horrible results: First experience they sent the item to someone with a similar name but lived in a DIFFERENT STATE. The second time the owner's promised to write FRAGILE on the package (because they did not carry any stickers with this). Nothing was written on the box and the content was damaged. When I called to speak to the owner he was rude/ accused me of calling him a name and did not offer any apology (and hung up). TWO FOR TWO negative experience with this company means I would NOT recommend. read more

Traveling east 1-2 times a year we always end up buying more then travel allows us to bring back with us. We ship through Amanda and Wayne religiously, and its always a pleasant experience. Never issues with shipping, fair pricing when you compare UPS vendors near us outside Chicago and helpful customer service. After reading other reviews, to each their own. But in one breathe to compliment a family business and in the next to trash it, no wonder big box is taking over and small businesses are going under. Don't like it, don't use it. But be respectful. I have used the Packaging Depot twice to ship expensive paintings and have been very pleased both times. The first time was two VERY LARGE oil paintings. They did an excellent job packing them, and they arrived safely. I also thought their rates were very economical. Also, they are very friendly and provide great customer service. I second the earlier review about not using this company for artwork. They were nice enough in our pre-shipment conversations but after paying $85 to ship a medium sleeve of cardboard with a matted print inside (a very valuable, 56 year old print), I received a well packaged and very damaged item. Yes, they packed the cardboard well. However, in removing the glass and frame from the print, it is evident that they slipped and cut into the print- twice! My print arrived with two deep, fresh cuts all the way through the print. The cuts are so precise and clean that I can't imagine anything but the edge of the glass making contact being responsible for such damage. I immediately emailed photos of the cuts and photos of the auction listing and description for the piece, demonstrating the undamaged condition prior to the Packaging Depot's pick-up and packaging, but I was abruptly dismissed. Terrible handling and ultimate ruining of my print, no taking responsibility for the damage when it was obvious before it left the shop, and then poor customer service afterwards. read more
