There are a bunch of Yelpers who wrote about this Staples very critically several years back. Our experience has been better, fortunately. We've bought a pair of printers and had some copy work done here, and we can away generally pleased with the results. Products are products no matter where you buy them, of course, but we've found the employees to be pretty consistently helpful and often knowledgeable. They carry a decent stock of office supplies -- we have never observed any major shortages -- and the pricing is about what you'd expect. It is like pulling teeth to have someone help you, ask a question and they don't know or no where to be found. No one looks happy to be here, they all look like when is my shift over. The Printing place is okay a hit and Miss when it's busy but other then that it's alright could be worse. read more

Shout out to the Torrington Staples and their store manager Bill. Bill and his staff were more than accommodating for a last minute mess myself and my boss had to deal with. I work in logistics and faced with our "end of month" madness, we brought a big amount of boxes for them to UPS for us, seeing that this was a Saturday. Bill and his staff gladly helped us, and were very professional in their customer service. Many kudos to them, it is not easy dealing with the public on a daily basis. More so, during a pandemic. The trouble with reviewing any sort of chain store or restaurant is that they're pretty consistent when compared to other locations. For the most part. Staples in Torrington, is well, another Staples. It's got what you would expect: lots of stationary and office supplies, a UPS store on-site, a copy/fax center and a line of electronics and computers that is a few steps behind the cutting edge. But that's expected. Overall, a decent store. Clean, and the employees are helpful and friendly. Can be a bit slow to man the registers in the face of a crowded check-out line, but other than that, no complaints.. read more

As Staples stores go, this seems a bit below average. The security gates to go across the windows make the area seem more dangerous than it is (or at least more dangerous than I believe it to be). It's small, but reasonably well-stocked for what they have. They make up in the areas where Target and Walmart fall short, like packing peanuts. The employees are nice but for a quiet store you'll spend a surprising amount of time waiting. read more

I went in to buy a Laptop. I waited, and waited, and waited for a tech to help me. Nobody in the store, except for a few people in the copy center. I asked 3 times for help. Still nothing. I finally walked up to a manager, who basically blew me off. waited 25 minutes, while people came and went in the copy center. I'm so glad the $30.00 they made while I was waiting was worth losing the $700.00 sale they would have made. Walked out! read more

I am not one to write negative reviews generally. That being said I feel it important to share my consistent poor experiences with this Staples location. Specifically, the copy center. While I can't sing enough praises about the young man who most recently assisted me with my printing needs, (as well as multiple other copy center employees over the last 3 years that I have used this location for my copy and print needs, sadly with very similar experiences to what I'm about to describe) it is overly obvious that the employees in the copy center are not given the support that they need in order to provide a level of customer service that I would expect from a company of Staples size. Specifically, I spent over 3 hours in the store this week trying to have a 25 page presentation stapled and printed. Granted there were some technical difficulties but for most of those 3 hours there was a line of 3 or more customers waiting to have their copy center needs addressed, some there to pick up orders, some to copy a single page and some that needed a little direction making business cards. This was an endless process, all while this young associate kept his calm and multitasked flawlessly. That being said, he could not even come close to keeping up with the demand of the business. The disheartening part is that he informed me that this is standard operating procedure. Never once complaining about the responsibilities on his shoulders and at all times demonstrating fantastic composure and customer service. (He gets a 5 star review) Staples is lucky to have an employee like him, as an employer myself I understand better than most how rare it is in today's age to find reliable help. However a wonderful employee can not run an entire store by himself. During my 3 hours, I did a lot of observing... What I saw was that 4 employees seemed to be running the entire store. At times they appeared to have no comprehension of just how swamped this employee was as they attended to merchandising end caps and straightening shelves full of paper towels. (Obviously a business priority.) I was told that none of them were trained to be able to assist in the copy center. (While I was tasked with operating what seemed to be a very basic stapler for my own order) By the end of my experience I somehow managed to identify the store manager who hid behind an unkempt beard and a head of hair that appeared to have seen more pillows in the last week than it did showers. I approached him and shared my concerns with him. Had he addressed them appropriately I probably wouldn't find myself punching keys on my iPhone sharing my experience with the world. I was told that they were looking for more help but had been unsuccessful finding people "that actually want to work" (a segment of the population that he obviously has a lot in common with.) I am sure that Staples as a corporation understands the importance of their management staff supporting their employees and I am not surprised that in a company of their size that some things get overlooked, I only hope that in some small way my review will spark an opportunity for the leadership of this company to look at the staples location in Torrington, CT and provide them with the staffing support, training and focus that the patrons and dedicated employees of this location deserve. read more

I just called the Torrington store and a male associate answered. He was curt and cut me off and behaved like I was an idiot - I gave him the item number and his response was sometimes there is a model number too - yes but I gave you the item number "oh just checking". My advice is wait for the customer to finish their sentence and do not act like your customer is an idiot when they are clearly not. Even when they are behave as they are not. You sir need some work on your customer service skills! read more

I went here to get my cracked iPhone screen fixed. After it was done, the guy came up to me and told me that while he was fixing it, something happened (becauSe the screen was so cracked) and when he repaired it my home button was not working. When I got home, I tried to make a phone call and realized my phone speaker was not working either. I didn't have either of these problems before I got my screen repaired at staples. Clearly I am livid at this point. The home button was one thing, but I think the guy just had no idea what he was doing to break 2 things on my phone. And I paid $130 for that. Ridiculous. read more
