first off let me unequivocally state that some NICE FOLKS WORK HERE. unfortunately on 12/27 there was no people there, so I was faced with obtaining postage from their dreaded, ancient, and infamous Self Service Machine. total time invested- about 55 minutes. total payoff: one of two small packages properly labeled and dropped off for mailing. here's how it went, if you are interested. I waited behind a couple of folks, one was mailing two packages and one may have been running an ebay store out of her apartment. 20 minutes later I'm at the machine. package ONE: punch in disclaimers, nothing explosive, etc. it weighed the package. after a minute or so it provided the weight on screen, allowing me to move on to dimensions. it is supposed to automatically read the dimension but it was a slim package so it couldn't read it. so after a few minutes of freeze time, it allowed me to manually punch in the dimensions. then I used the clunky onscreen keyboard to enter recipient name/address, sender name/ address, and 6 minutes later I apparently made it to the end of the process. I hit CONTINUE SHOPPING since I had two packages, a decision I would gravely regret. package TWO: same process, it weighed the item, failed on the auto-dimension feature even though this package was bigger, and i punched in all the info. eventually I Got to the last screen and selected Purchase Postage. it was then I realized that when I previously hit CONTINUE SHOPPING that completely cancelled out my six minutes of hard work I had performed for package ONE. it let me purchase the postage (for package TWO only) and after a few long pauses for drama, it gave me the postage and another long pause for the receipt. package ONE: went back to my first package, starting this whole mess again, disclaimers, etc, but it wouldn't even take the weight of the package this time. backed out. cancelled transaction. started again. scale not working. I decided to call it a day before I became violent. I left with 50% of my packages in the mail and a solemn vow not to ever again try to use any piece of automated electronics that is running on vintage 1990s software. read more

I love the post office. I got back into hand written letters. It started as a way to be a better uncle to my niece's. Which led me to realize how much I like writing people. Which led me wanting to start writing in cursive again. Which made me want more people writing back. Which led me to gathering as many addresses of friends and family members I could find. Which led me to remember how much I like the U.S. Post Offices system. Growing up in Sacramento, California, the Pony Express history was pretty common knowledge. I always thought how cool and rough it would be to be a Pony Express rider. Just on a horse riding at top speed for days on end. Never mind bandits or first people shooting at you in random areas along the way. So I enjoy going to different locations and checking out the building. Looking for the dedication plaque. Seeing the services available. This downtown Gresham Post Office has a strange one-way in one-way out parking lot, but it has 2 different drop box locations on site. One is across the street and fills up fast throughout the day. The other drop box is found on your way out of the parking lot by the exit you'll see 2 boxes. This is busy location and sometimes those drop boxes can all be full to the brim but no worries. The lobby is open late. You can drop off mail inside. I came here a couple times during the holidays and the line's were long but they moved along nicely. The employees are all nice and helpful. I may be getting a P.O.Box here soon. They have lots of boxes available. read more

This is where most packages go to disappear. I have had to deal with USPS 3 times the last year and a half and here is the results: 1. Lost package after being checked in at Gresham. 2. No update and late arrival without notice. 3. No update, no package, nothing..... If I order something I am careful not to check out if USPS is the carrier, or I cancel it immediately if USPS is confirmed as the carrier on my confirmation notice. There is a serious problem there and they cannot be relied upon. read more

This post office is very much a typical 'Gresham' establishment, especially since it is right outside of the Downtown Gresham Area. So far I've noticed from the service I've received here the people are very much relaxed and not too friendly to your everyday-hipster/Portlandite. I was rudely served by one of the employees at this location, and didn't appreciate her condescending tonality. I really wanted to give this post office better rating because they work hard, deal with the public, and service us during the pandemic day in and day out. The customer service itself is excellent most of the time. My three stars are due to mail box outside. They recently replaces a bunch of small ones with a miserable very large one. It's is very tall, and I barely reach the opening. In addition, the box gets so full that anyone can steal the mail. This point is the reason for the three stars. I dread coming to the Gresham post office because every single time I go there the workers are extremely rude. If they hate their job they should just quit. Why ruin someone's day if you're going to have a horrible attitude. My package wasn't taped and the worker made a scene making me feel extremely stupid and it was embarrassing. No where are there rules to have your return package already taped. It took her literally 2 seconds to take up my tiny return package. No idea where the bad reviews come from. This post office has all the key elements of being a "good one" That said it's a usps, we all know what that means. Pros: -No homeless people in the area means you can access the P.O. boxes anytime. -You can use the automated machine anytime and they have the flat rate shipping supplies accessible. -Drive up drop off for packages and mail - Always parking - Well staffed, not only do they run multiple lines, but they're quick, and not total jerks like many USPS. - Open saturdays, but close earlier that day. Cons: -It's the post office -It's government run -You can't have your CCW due to stupid laws with it being a federal building. -Busy so sometimes supplies are behind the counter so automated machine use is sometime limited to that. I've been a resident of Gresham for over 35 years. The local PO is not doing me or you, any favors. I stopped going into the PO as the service is terrible, and I get the impression that they don't even want to help. I constantly get other peoples mail and I have had my mail delivered to others. It happened today again, I tracked the package I was waiting for, which said it was out for delivery. I watched as the driver drove right past my house. I tracked it again and it said it had been delivered. Sure. Furthermore, the PO won't answer phone calls. THIS HAS TO STOP! The lady who served me yesterday at the Gresham post office was not wearing her mask properly. The mask was under her nose which renders the mask 100% ineffective. This morning when I called the post office to report her nobody would answer the phone. I called several times. At one point after several rings, I got a busy signal. What was that about? USPS Gresham, Oregon To whomever it may concern, I have lived in my neighborhood for 16 years. On occasion the mailman would deliver mail to the wrong address, but this has recently increased. One of my neighbor brings my mail to me, as I do when I get someone else's mail. A few days ago, I received MULTIPLE addresses in my box. (If this continues, I need to be put on the payroll.) Seriously though, with all of the identity thefts going on in today's world, this concerns me a great deal on who may be receiving my important documents if they are not delivered to the correct address. I haven't been to this post office in years and while it's not as shiny as it once was, it's still a great stop. I walked in at 1pm today and the line was almost out the door. I almost bolted from the room. However, I noticed that all windows were fully staffed and the line moved quickly which is in direct contrast to the post office I normally frequent. There is a selection of greeting cards that you can peruse while you are in line. This was particularly handy as I was in the market for a birthday card. When I got up to the counter the postal worker gave me a coupon to use immediately on the card for half off of my purchase. Wow! What service I thought. Then she gave me a coupon to take with me to use on my next purchase. This was great customer service. It seems like the postal service is taking a nod from non government businesses and is starting to value customer service. That's probably a good thing given their current balance sheet. read more

So our mail gets delivered to a neighborhood mail box area. The wife and I went to the post office to get our mailbox key. So fast forward a week, still no mail in our mailbox. I even went so far as to mail something to myself to see if it would show up....nada. So we go back and explain to them what's happening, luckily the mail carrier for the area was in the back and the desk person went to ask him whats up. Turns out the lady gave us the WRONG KEY. Then on a separate time the older man working the counter was rude as hell. He was condescending and even the worker next to him looked at him like wtf? Yes, we know we filled out the Express Mail forms, Yes we know how much it costs, and if we wanted it signed for we would have checked the box for it. Had we not been sending something of super importance and he was seconds away from getting an attitude check. Just the fact that I wouldn't put it past him to mysteriously loose our letter we were sending was enough for me to bite my tongue. This guy should take his bad attitude someplace else. read more

This office does not leave any notes stating your packages won't deliver and if you don't look for yourself they will after a few days just "donate" your products. They have done this to me now 4 times just this year. This is UNACCEPTABLE! They steal your packages. Then when I have to go in which I can't wear a mask, told me when you come in we tell you it can't be delivered instead of leaving notices in boxes so we can find a different and better delivery service. This place is garage and the manager thinks it doesn't have to explain anything or tell you they donate you things. They are steal packages and making us have to buy more because they refuse to do their jobs. Too crowded, understaffed, very little help offered. I've had them sort my packages into the wrong bin more than once. One time they actually delivered to the wrong address across town. They did go pick it back up. Just not sure how they got it to that address. It wasn't anywhere close to the same address nor did it look similar. They just tried delivering a package tonight to my business location after hours. Yet they delivered mail at 3 PM also? And that's after tracking showed delivery expected 2 days earlier. The people that works at this post office are rude and lazy. I had to pick up a package at the post office with a tracking number. The lazy told me she can't find it. she didn't even bother really looking for it. So i drove all the way there for nothing. The next day I called and spoke with a supervisor and found out the whole time my package was in the post office . wtf? It really piss me off when worker don't do their job. one time, The mailman gave my neighbor's package in my box. and lost my package somewhere else. Until I called and trying to track it down. This is THE WORST post office I have ever had an experience with! I usually only use them as a matter of convenience due to my location . I ship items from postmark and ship quite a lot of things. Every couple of months they suddenly have an issue with what I'm sending and refuse to ship it . Once they told me in order to get my package back I would have to pay them to retrieve the item. I told him I was missing mail. Specifically an invite and professional magazine. He proceeded to speak to me like I was a complete incompetent. He never confirmed nor checked my mail delivery. "That's a supervisor's job" he said he cant. I bit my tongue and left. As he was not going to allow me to speak with the supervisor and address my concerns. When I called the # it was a huge pain to get holding for a person and then it said my expected hold time was 1 hour but the call disconnected after 20 minutes on hold. The Gresham Post Office has been going down faster than a downhilll racer and still going . The service on Route 6 is despicable , constantly receiving neighbors mail, not my own , them losing mine and for some time the delivery times are well into the evening. They don't train the subs on the routes,let alone the regulars . Don't ever use their orange rural route envelopes to purchase stamps from from and leave in your mail box as they suggest because they will lose your check and you will get nothing but excuses as to what they are doing to resolve the issue and you have a missing check out there somewhere . Also, wouldn't suggest using the drive up mail boxes they have across the street on the other side of Powell because mail left in there doesn't seem to reach the destination and then one has an outstanding check to reissue . In fact, wouldn't suggest mailing anything there at the P.O. until things change and that might be quite a while, maybe years , but find a postal box on a street or mall that will be picked up and routed thru Portland or places like Postal Annex , etc. Been doing that for years and sorry I used that one across the street one time only recently ( and its the last time ) If I were to ask for the first thing to be rectified, it wouldn't be the time of delivery but actual delivery of ones own mail first. Get that down pat and then work on a reasonable time to deliver. I don't mind returning mail that doesn't belong to me to its rightful owner but it doesn't solve the issue of misdelivered mail by a dept that should know better but keeps doing it . Leaving outgoing mail in your mail box is asking for trouble . It happened to a neighbor ( and it was the orange envelope purchasing stamps from the P.O. they tell you to leave in your box ) and now its over a month with no resolution but many excuses that they are being given. If you have problems , call the USPO Consumer Affairs Dept for help, not the post office itself since they won't resolve / correct these on-going problems , 4 years now . read more

Where do I start? After 2 years of living here, and multiple attempts via email, forms at the post office, etc we STILL get mail for the old residents at my apartment. I CONSTANTLY get mail from the near by apartments with similar door numbers... even with the correct apartments NAME ON THE PACKAGE. Sometimes, if I am standing by the door when the knock once and run, I can return the package to the driver. Often times, I take it to the address myself. The prime example is for the past THREE weeks they have failed to send my certified letter to me; even after FOUR scheduled deliveries, all of which they failed to actually deliver to my house, often times leaving a "we missed you" in my mailbox... not my door. An now that the holidays are upon us, I have my FIFTH package to the wrong address... this one is insured, first class WITH SIGNATURE REQUIRED I found on my front door (completely left in the open) that I accidentally opened assuming (how dare I) it was for me till the contents didn't make sense. I have lived in several areas around the country and in Oregon and I have NEVER had these problems with my postal service. This is clearly a local Post Office issue, and is being completely ignored. Oh, and the phone lines? Good luck, the guy in Bangladesh who keeps answering the phones either "accidentally" hangs up the line (after a 40 min wait) or "cant help me". I cannot find the post masters phone or the direct location phone line... and emails have yet to be returned. read more

Abysmal service and indifferent response when I finally reached the postmaster. This post office has lost the mail of my deceased brother after I filed a change of address. This means that, as executor, I am not sure who his creditors are, who might have sent him a Christmas card or letter, etc., etc. It's a long and anguished tale, but these folks do not answer the phone, seem to have no line of responsible authority and, frankly, don't care. I am left with creditors calling his forwarded phone number demanding payment. Now I have to spend $375 hr to get the attorney involved and try to explain this to the court. Try to reach someone on the toll-free line, good luck. And when you do reach the postmaster, it's a ho-hum to him as he "cannot keep track of all the mail here." I Use the Gresham PO as much as possible and although at times there are lines- the postal workers are GREAT. They are always courteous, pleasant and offer many solutions. Yes mistakes happen, but we all make mistakes. I believe they are under funded and unappreciated. I truly appreciate them a great deal and will continue to use them as opposed to all this start ups that are trying to take business from them. They are GREAT! read more

Man...post offices have changed ....this place has demonstrated basically everything wrong with the u.s. government and human society in the footprint of a single post office building. I decided to get a p.o. box at some point...things went well until our mail started getting lost and rerouted...employees were dismissive and abusive...ask about your mail enough and they'll threaten you instead of helping. The postmaster couldnt care less about customer service, the individual is unapologetic and narcissistic with no regard for people's personal property. I finally called a month after closing my p.o. box, after things we're being returned to senders (most of my stuff is e-pay) the supervisor I spoke to called me 'weird' for being concerned about the whereabouts of my mail...which is peculiar...then proceeded to tell me they didn't know, as if that was an acceptable answer, that I was harassing the post office...and then hung up on me. I called five minutes later and a reasonable employee picked up...told me what I was asking was no big deal and changed my address over the phone without insulting me and threatening me, she also didn't verify any of my personal information which was odd...regardless, she was professional, and didn't feel a bizarre need to be awful -- because correcting the issue had always been simple, so simple... Anyway no harm no foul, hopefully my mail comes to my house and I never have to deal with another us post office. Ide rather spend 5 hours with my face pressed up against Mike Huckabee's grundle then spend another month dealing with these people. Side note: You know who won't abuse you? Basically every other mail carrying service. I would agree with one of the other reviewers in offering the staff advice...if you don't like your job, or you hate people, find something to make you happy, life goes by in a flash and you best want to waste it. read more
