The historic Glendale Main Post Office was built in 1934 and designed by George M. Lindsay. This local landmark is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is well-kept with a secret collection of postal items that are fun to look at while you're waiting in line to renew a passport. Thanks to Adam Schiff, Glendale City Council, and the Glendale Historical Society for fighting to preserve this Italian Renaissance-styled landmark in 2013. It's beautiful and convenient enough for renewing our passports. The online reservation system works wonderfully, and I highly recommend it over dropping in. Even with a reservation, you may still wait for a while before having your number called. Tip: Bring a book and your patience so you don't get unhinged. People actually get cray-cray in line so again, pack your patience. We were fortunate enough to have the nice, petite Asian lady help us. She's always been wonderful. The other clerk is rough around the edges and true to the disgruntled postal worker stereotype. I know it wasn't just a bad day for her. Every time I've dealt with her in the past, she's been rude. So don't take it personally if she gets under your skin--it's just her way of customer service. There are three of us and we've renewed our passports several times at this particular location in the last 5 years. The USPS facility near our apartment building regularly loads trucks around 1:00 a.m. and again around 4:00 a.m. The constant banging, loading equipment, and truck noise make it impossible for residents whose apartments face the street to sleep peacefully. I understand that USPS has important operations to carry out, but this level of noise during the middle of the night is extremely disruptive and negatively affects the quality of life for everyone living nearby. It's a nice kept building, neat and well taken care of, unlike the Filthy Eagle rock location on Colorado Blvd. Went to renew passport, made an appointment but was told upon arrival I didn't have an appt even with a verification code. Was told I had to go to front counter. Why was I given a verification code? Enough about their shitty set up. I was fortunate to to be met by Chi, at her window. She straightened things out for me and helped me refill my form and attached my fotos for me, gave me the proper envelope and made a money order for my passport and Passportcard. She was a truly helpful and evenkeeleled person, have a feeling she dealt with this type of snafu before. What an efficient, patient friendly person, a shout out to her and who ever hired this good efficient person! Well worth the trip over there, than the filthy Eagle Rock location! Well worth the extra gas, a better value, minus the aggravation Eagle rock would have provided. By the way, the Asian lady in Eagle rock is friendly and efficient but the wait is usually long there and grounds are littered with fecal matter from street people and assorted broken bottles. This post office has 16 service windows it's huge. But there is always one lonely person working sometimes 2. Right now there is 20 people in line. This place isn't slow they charge more than ever for postage and they are always understaffed. Why is this the case it's not customer friendly. read more

This office for passports is very slow. Scheduling was easy at the outside kiosk but it doesn't matter what time your appointment is. Mine was at 9:30am they finally called people off the list around 10:20am. They bring you to the inside room and wait again in line for a second time. They have only two processors when clearly they need the help and could utilize the other three desks. You are able to take the photo there for an extra fee. I suggest you go across the street for $21 and it's more comfortable. I will not be returning for my kids renewal here. Also, parking is hectic here. read more

I came here with an appointment after waiting in line at the Van Nuys mega office for 3 hours and being turned away. The experience here is night and day. The building is historic and beautiful. You wait in line inside and they let you inside to sit down pretty immediately. There were two women working that day. One was very grumpy and the other was extremely pleasant. We lucked out that the grumpy one didn't want to help us. Cindy was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is kind, patient, and friendly. She is efficient and straightforward. We took our newborn's passport photo, and she let us have multiple shots before committing to a picture. I wish we'd done all of our family's passport applications with her! Parking was easy to find on the street (no meters). They accept debit cards, which was convenient since I forgot my checkbook. Forget the old vintage decor.. this post office definitely running things on ancient time. My passport appointment was at 2 pm. Myself and a dozen other people were still waiting for the door to open. Some had appointments at 1:45 and were still waiting to be seen. They had a sign posted on the door that photos won't be taken today and someone kindly held my place so I could run across the street to a local shop to take my photo. After waiting for an hour after my appointment time I still wasn't seen. My name was finally called an 1 hour and 15 minutes after my original time. Total time spent in there was 2 hours They had only two employees working and a room full of crying babies and toddlers who still hadn't had their turns. Throughly disappointed.... This experience was the equivalent of getting a root canal. Everything was painfully slow. I wish I would have seen these reviews before booking at this location. read more

Despite of what everyone says about USPS, I still give my utmost respect to their hardworking crews especially to Kim from the Verdugo (91205) in Glendale Station - one of the station's managers. She is always very pleasant. Recently went on vacation and as usual, I put my mail on hold for delivery. To my surprise, the date I asked for resume of service didn't happen for two days. Got worried so I called the station and Kim answered instead of an automated machine. She was very pleasant and told me that it will be delivered the next day. Just a tip - for Hold Mail request, sometimes it doesn't get delivered as requested due to lack of staff or other reasons - however it would be helpful to call the station and verify to them that you're back and service can be resumed or ask if it can be picked up instead. The only time that I come to this post office is if I happen to be in the neighborhood. I've been lucky each time when it comes to finding a spot next to the post office. If they have a mailbox that you can drive up to to drop off your mail, I haven't seen it so I always have to go inside to drop off my bills. It's very nice inside. Service here is incredibly disappointing. No one answers the phone -- you just get redirected over and over, and then the line hangs up. I tried calling multiple times with no success. I also attempted to get help with a package that couldn't be delivered because the unit number was missing. I missed the delivery by only 20 minutes, but they immediately denied any attempt to re-deliver or hold it for pickup, claiming it was already being sent back. It took over two weeks for this package to arrive in the first place, and now I have to wait an additional 2-3 weeks for it to be returned and re-shipped. Absolutely unacceptable and extremely frustrating. Updated - I was able to find the mail guy on the route and he called someone and asked if they would hold my bag and I was able to pick up! read more

Two things, just know you're going to be here for about 2 hours, and have your paperwork ready. There was a guy here who waited for two hours but he didn't bring his birth certificate. once we got to the worker, we were done in ten minutes. Our forms were complete, we had our documents. The only reason we came here was because another office said we needed our marriage certificate. They didn't ask for it here. The person at the other office also said there were 5 people working here, there were only two. It looks like the system makes about 5 appointments for every 15 minutes. Thankfully, not everyone showed up. When you come in to the post office on the west side of the building, there is a roped off line. This is your first wait. After an hour and a half, they let in about 30 people. At least they have chairs in the inner office. Also, the parking meters take quarters or you have to pay either over the phone or you download an app. If you've never input letters on a numeric keypad, you're in for a new experience. Bring at least $3 in quarters. They don't take pictures here so have that ready before you come. Someone said there is a place across the street. Good luck. read more

We arrived 10 minutes early for our 12 pm passport appointment, and we've now been waiting over 45 minutes with no end in sight. Everyone around us--many with scheduled appointments--is equally frustrated. The process is completely disorganized. People take time off work or show up with overtired, feral children expecting some semblance of structure. Instead, we're all crammed into a crowded space with zero communication and no indication of when--if ever--we'll be seen. I went there for a Passport and they were efficient and friendly. I recommend you read and complete all your forms ahead of time and print them out for processing. Don't sign the forms until you are in front of the clerk! Make an appointment but you will probably still need to stand in line a little bit while they process the people in front of you. Also make sure you have a check, money order or cashiers check for the US passport fees and you can pay by credit or debit card for the USPS processing fees. *Two different fees* And the office building is a beautiful historic treasure! read more

Why the heck do they need to UPSALE you on postage? I mean do they get commission?? I went to drop off a flat rate box that I already went on USPS.com to pay and print out label. I normally just drop off at the counter and leave, however I wanted to check if I had enough postage on a large envelope. The rep at the counter advised I needed more postage on the flat rate. I've been using click-n-ship online for over 2 decades. She argued with me and asked if I've done it before or if I've ever had problems. Is she implying I can't read or I'm illiterate to understand how to use the website?? From start to finish horrible experience. Came here with a friend who's been here before luckily, so she guided us to the passport section of the building. No signage so would not have easily found it myself. It was a closed and locked door with just a sign that says "passport line starts here" and no other information. We waited until a patron left out that door and let us in. She also had little info to share as the whole place screams unorganized shitshow. We walk in with a sleeping baby into an empty dimly lit room that gives major prison vibes. I wait with sleeping baby in this room as the next room seemed to be the main area and was quite bright and loud. My friend went to get some sort of direction. There was one lady at a desk, seemingly helping with passport apps, while patrons were seated across waiting. The employee looked up at my friend and then went back to her business. Again, no direction at all. My friend had to ask the other patrons what the drill is here. They said we wait outside the locked door until we are called in to sit and wait some more. We decided to wait in the empty room since we had a sleeping baby with us. I sat down in the empty chair. A few minutes go by before a lady shows up just to tell me I can't sit there. Went here to get my passport, they are so disorganized its crazy. They lock people out saying its "to congested" inside. Lady said it rude as hell pushing people out. For exapmple the time is 1 pm i booked an appointment at 12:00. I was here before 12 at like 11:30ish; i asked what appointment their doing and the wait THEIR DOING APPOINTMENTS FOR 11:00 PM. My last straw is its dirty dusty office that i can feel myself getting sick by. Once we got in there 2:42 pm they did all the 1-2 pm appointments first. Im appalled. Never go here. read more

It took about 2 hours waiting outside the door when I had an appointment at 2:15pm but once I got inside it only took 15 minutes since I had all my documents ready to go and I was the first person they took. It was frustrating waiting since no one came out to give any information or updates during the 2 hour wait. I rate this above most post offices for two reasons: 1. It's open much later than other branches. It's not super close to me, but it's open until 6:00pm so I occasionally end up here when I couldn't get out of the office in time to hit my local branch before 5:00pm 2. It's a beautiful historic building. There are frequently long lines here (but they usually move fairly well) but at least you feel like you're in the 1940's! Now I know why this USPS has a very terrible review! Passport officers are very very rude. They are not very welcome and very impolite. No smile or say hi at all. My wife did not fill out the form for my little son because she did not know and it her first time create a new passport for the son and then the officer told us to go back and reschedule the appointment which will take a week or more! Which if we fill out the form will take only a few minutes! And then the officer still taking more walk-ins. I've gone to many different postal services in Los Angeles county and this is the best one I've gone through so far. Unlike other postal services (such as the one in FairFax, Washington blvd and Rosemead), the service won't put you down, scoff at you or treat you like a little kid. They also have better customer service skills without much of the PMS and morning tantrums and if the line is very long, an assistant will come out to assist you in order to make the line move faster. Seriously it's tough to find a perfect postal services. But I will say this one is the one I'm satisfied with and prefer to go for my shipping, mailing and passport renewal inquiries. read more

This review is for passport services only. Scheduled an online appointment for 12:15pm. First available appointment was about 2 weeks from the date I scheduled. Found free street parking on one side of the post office. There were also metered parking spots around the building. Parking was not an issue. Arrived at noon and was the only person in line where a sign said to wait for passport services. Was allowed inside the office at about 12:20-12:25 and was done with the entire process for two passports in 15 minutes or so. Very smooth experience. Once inside the large office there is plenty of comfortable seating. The employee that processed our paperwork was fast and efficient. Was told the passports would be processed within 15 weeks or so. My god. If you've been following my yelp page, which I know some of you religiously do, you'd know I don't give out 1 star reviews that often. There is an elite group of places that hold this special accolade and now the Post Office on Broadway in Glendale has joined the club. My wife and I took our newborn in a week ago to turn in her passport paperwork to get that all going. Turns out you need an appointment at most times to get help with passport things. So what did we do? We dutifully created an appointment for 1:30pm the following week. We show up and there are like 4 people in line ahead of us, not bad, this will be quick. We were not helped until THREE O CLOCK. Now look, I've worked 10 years in customer service, I'm a patient man who understands how businesses work, but this was straight up ridiculous. Not one employee came in to tell us anything. That goes a LONG way. Wasted most of an afternoon standing in line for something that took 5 minutes to complete. They need to implement a better system. First off, this USPS is huge and the architecture is absolutely gorgeous as well! It's a super pretty building and is probably the biggest post office I've ever been in with beautiful ceiling decorations and arching doors and windows! But anyways, onto the actual service. My family and I were here to get our passports renewed and we had an appointment for 12:30 PM. The line moved quite slowly and we got into the Passport office at 1:30. The service was kind of slow but it was understandable since they had so much people to go over and to do. This review is for their passport department. I made an appointment for a Saturday and was actually able to be seen 30 mins before my time. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I was done with 1 adult and 3 kid's applications, with photos, in 30mins. They take photos there for an additional fee. The only people that were unhappy in line were the ones that did not have all their documents and had to leave and come back. Having everything printed and photocopied before you go definitely shortens your wait time. Also, this building is just beautiful. read more
