I come here often to drop off, what else...US mail. I have used the front counter to get receipts for items that I am shipping, or if I have general questions. I typically prep my packages at home using the online software, and I even save a little bit prepping items at home. Makes visiting the post office much faster. When I do need help, the staff is very friendly and helpful with whatever I need at their counters. Kudos to the workers for that. You can also get your passports done here as well, you just have to make an online appointment. They can get backed up several weeks to months, so get that appointment in sooner rather than later. They close their doors at 5pm, so if you are not in by then you'll have to use the drop off boxes. The San Marcos location (inside area, not mail clerks) stays open late, how come Escondido can't have the same hours? read more

Did not reattempt delivery when it clearly stated that they would. Was on hold for an hour just for the main number to tell me that. Attempted calling the main Escondido office line 5 times, each time it was disconnected after 3:50 mins on hold waiting for a representative. All that just to be told I have to go pick it up when I fucking paid for it to be delivered. This also not the first time they've done this. This Post Office earned the five stars by having the good sense to hire a wonderful person by the name of Maurice to man their counter. We haven't been receiving our mail for several months. It's been annoying and was hurting our business. Client mail (actually all mail) has been sent back to them labeled undeliverable. I took photos of our mailbox and also of our neighbors' mailboxes a few feet away. Brought the photos in to the "pick up counter" this past Saturday and then directly to Maurice today. Maurice is a very intelligent man. He looked through our photos and got right on it---going straight to the back to contact our mail carrier/carriers. He kindly and quickly got it done. I was waiting for a package and the seller had told me it had been sent out, even tracked it FOR me and said it was delivered at my front door on 11/30/2022. No one signed for it, no ringing, and nothing in my mailbox. I can't even get a refund because it had been posted it's DELIVERED. I went to the post office and they said they were too busy to check and they gave me the phone number to call & give them the tracking number and they'll help out. Then I DID call the next following day & no one answered. What is the point of having a phone number for contact, and no one ever answers. You'll be waiting by the phone ringing and ringing for eternity !!!! It is now 12/05/2022, I've called this post office EVERY single day & no one has answered. They wouldn't deliver my package due to no secure area even though it would fit in the mailbox. I scheduled for redelivery thew next day and then waited 9 days for the redelivery and nothing. The number online doesn't work and has been disconnected. The automated system is absolute trash and will not connect you with customer support. Well we used to be able to mail letters out front but then they paddle locked the boxes. So at least we could go in the lobby at any time to mail a letter. Actual rating 0 stars. We moved to Escondido 2 months ago and unfortunately mail isn't delivered to our house. Welcome to the world of neighborhood locked multi mail boxes. Since our miniature mail box is 1" tall, it fills up quickly. We left 2 days of mail and our mail carrier decided to remove our 2 days of mail and leave us a note saying since we have a full mailbox, the mail carrier has the right to remove what's currently in our box in addition to withholding all future mail! I work and it was difficult to get to the 1157 West Mission Ave location of post office before 5, but I did it. I arrived 4:58 and ran to the door. I breathed a sigh of relief as I see the long line of people waiting and as I walked in, a short man (postal worker), told me they are are closed. I said, oh please, let me in. He said, no, we are closed. I looked at the line of 10 people and then back at him him begging, please, I just drove across town, please, you're holding my mail. Short man said, no, we are trying to finish things up here and we are behind. Thanks governmental employee. Thanks, so happy to pay your undeserved pension. You couldn't accommodate 1 more paying customer in your long line? Really!? I'm so bummed we moved here. Carmel Mountain and Poway post offices are professional, and have courteous customer service. If I was Filipino, I'm sure this postal worker would have accommodated me. read more

If I could of give -negative or zero stars I would. This place is awful! 6 months ago I left a review on there site because they took half of the access hrs & holiday PO box access away. They also raised the price for PO BOX rentals AGAIN! I opened at $53 then renewed to $59 w/ 24hr 365 days access. Last year they increased my rate from $59 to $73. Only change made was they Cut acess hours. No benifit to customers. It is time to renew again and now $92.00!! Again. They have not done anything to justify another ridiculous price hike. Due to hrs cut in 6 months I have been 3 maybe 4 times MAX! How/why does my box keep increasing when there is no added benefits or more work to deliver my mail to box shoving it so full I can't get it out from the front? Only to see 25% of the mail isnt mine! The workers are RUDE. The place is dirtier than it was when acess hrs were 24/7/365. I understand the price of everything has and does & will go up but usually it is because they add a service or increase hrs or something that is of benefit to the customer. Delivering mail to a PO BOX doesn't require ANY more work than it did at $53 or $59 nor at $79 and definitely NOT now with another $20 increase. If they had the 24 hrs 7 days week 365 year access hrs it might not be as upsetting but they have NEVER justified ANY rate increase. They take more $ and we get less when they take basic features away (yet still advertise them too) drastically cutting the access hrs to boxes for the same mail service that requires the least amount of work that they still can't do correctly. They will continue to rip off people who have to have a PO BOX?!?!! AVOID this dump & the arrogant people who "work" there at all costs! read more

Yikes! I'm so frustrated! My mail carrier, Alma is AMAZING and does a fantastic job. Unfortunately, her vacation coincided with the first package I've received from out of the country that also needed an in person signature. Since I'm not in my city much during the week and happened to be on vacay the Saturday the package first arrived, I had to leave a note for the carrier (thinking it was my usual person!) asking they deliver the following Saturday. I thought it was weird that the note was left there all week, but whatever. So, on Saturday when the mail truck landed on my street, I waited at the box for my package! I was surprised to see a new face of a young man. When I asked about the package, he looked confused and said he never saw the note all week because its a hard route and he just hurried and put all the mail in each box. I explained the situation and he told me I could pick it up. I said I thought the main post office was closed on Saturdays and he assured me that it was open until around 3. I said I was off the following Friday so would the package still be there and I could pick up. He said, "Yes, don't worry. Packages are held for 30 days or more". He left, I double checked on the PO hours and of course, it was closed. Fast Forward to the next Friday, I go to the PO and the package isn't there. I explain the whole situation to a guy there whose name I did not get. HE tells me they send the packages back after 10 days and a second notice was left on the 18th and so they would have sent it back to the sender at that point since there was no response. I explain I didn't get a notice. We went back and forth for a while because I admit I was really upset that the package would be returned when the guy told me they keep them for 30 days or more. Then I point out that the 18th was only FIVE days after the original delivery date so why would they return and then he points at my note and says, we don't even know what date that note was actually written and put in the box. That was the end of that conversation as he essentially said that from his perspective, I'm just making something up. Clearly, I was VERY upset. I told him I didn't appreciate his calling me a liar and I left. When I arrived home, I had a second notice in my box. I did find out that the PO is open on Saturdays from 9:30-12, so I went in today and the package was not there. I went home to wait for Alma who did bring it back out to me. She's great, but both of the men that I dealt with were NOT great. The guy in the PO told me he would talk to the temp carrier about the situation, but since he clearly didn't know what was going on either, can't say that is going to be much help. Yes, I'm using this as an opportunity to vent, but the truth is, people need to know things like the hours they are open for picking up packages and that you can't necessarily trust what they tell you. Unless you're talking to someone you know, you should follow up on the USPS site to confirm these policies, etc. Was really disappointed in the service I received. In the past my experiences have been more positive. read more

Because some idiots decided that would it would be a great idea to break in to the group mailbox in our development, we are forced to have to pick up our mail at the Post Office on Mission Ave. This place is a petri dish for bacteria and other fun stuff. The Post Office is without a doubt one of the most non protected, unsanitary and highly vulnerable. Who knows where our packages have traveled from and who has touched them. Post offices have to be one of the most vulnerable for our current global pandemic situation. Less than 50% of the people working there are wearing gloves and I just watched someone carrying a basket of mail totally open cough all over the basket with no regard. The look on his face said it all, I really don't give a....nor does mgt Why are they not all wearing gloves and using the common sense of keeping themselves and others clean and safe?
