The two gentlemen working were extremely friendly and professional and in the short span of time I was there had to deal with multiple questions and irate customers and handled it so well. Montclair Post Office in Denver- Incompetent employees, long lines, incredibly slow, terrible communication, no one answers the phone, understaffed, out of supplies, and dirty. Read on if you want the details. Benjamin was absolutely clueless and had no idea how to open a PO Box. His thick accent makes it difficult to understand him. He entered my last name as my first, never looked at my passport for ID, didn't write down my drivers license number on the form, and it goes on and on. He had to ask another employee every step of the way how to do anything but she too was untrained and had to ask a 3rd employee. Then after paying, Benjamin could only find 1 PO Box key and said we had to switch boxes which was a huge hassle and then said it was $10 to switch boxes within the first 30 days. Of course we weren't going to pay that since it wasn't my fault but Benjamin was clueless and needed more help to figure out how to switch boxes and waive the fee. At one point during his confusion with 2 other employees trying to help, he told me if it were him, he would just pay the $10 fee. Absolutely ridiculous! After 1 hour and 20 mins we left only to be called by "Ba" 5 days later saying the box was opened incorrectly and we had to switch boxes. I told him we already told everyone the P.O. Box number and after some debate he said we could keep the box we had now but still had to come in person and he was there till 3pm today. He also said it was a mistake that we were allowed to open a PO Box because we did not have a local address. I told him that's completely incorrect and he should look at his own website because all you need is valid identification with your permanent address. He gave in like he was doing us a favor when he was obviously wrong. I expressed my frustration and was shocked when Ba who I presume is some kind of supervisor agreed that Benjamin is clueless and doesn't know what he's doing. Ba even said that post office is a mess...his words. So I changed my plans for the day and started driving to the depressing and dirty post office where everyone we dealt with was incompetent and about 20 mins into the drive I got a message from "Lisa" who said Ba had a family emergency and left and I should now come on Friday before 1:30. I immediately called the post office and of course no one answered and let the phone ring for a couple minutes several times and each time was disconnected because no one ever picked up. We continued to the post office which was now only a couple minutes away and eventually got the original P.O. Box back along with 2 keys. A day later we got an email with my last name spelled wrong which I hope won't matter when trying to receive mail. I hope to never have to return to your depressing post office which is understaffed with untrained employees. It's an embarrassment and the employees I had to deal with should be ashamed and immediately be properly trained before being allowed to interact with customers again. I watched so many people leave angry mainly because after waiting in a 25 minute line, they found out the supplies they were looking for were not at that post office. read more

The US Post Office was my frenemy, until I walked into this particular location. I was already frustrated from dealing with all these tedious tasks, but then I met a wonderful associate who helped me in and out. I was here to return an Amazon package and he was my absolute help!! I actually forgot his name.. shucks!! I promised I would remember his name. He was a tall, slim and slender Black American male who was super warm and just a good soul all around. He told me about his old coworker who unfortunately passed away last year. I felt an angelic presence throughout the entire visit, and felt that I was visited by a good energy and a angel named Jamal Zachary Thompson. Jamal, apparently used to be a US Post Office associate here, and he will be greatly missed. I ended up connecting with the post office worker, who told about Jamal, and I thanked him for his wonderful customer service. Now, I will forever return my packages here. Pretty much every USPS was crazy busy around Christmas... 'tis the season, right? I must say that the Lowry location does as good as can be expected during a pandemic. I made several trips here over the past couple of weeks, sending off cards and cookies to co-workers, family, and friends. Each time I used the automated machine, as it took way less time to do so. No need to wait in line for an hour to get a package shipped. I was even feeling in the holiday spirit and let a few folks go ahead of me since I was shipping 8-10 small packages at a time. I think the employees here are as nice as one can get for postal workers. And I hope they're having an OK/safe holiday season. read more

I was in the area and knew I needed some international stamps. I stopped in and tried the kiosk first with no luck. I saw there was a very long line and only one guy and not moving very fast at that. I had no time to just wait and especially not to find out they don't have them. I went to the front of the line and asked the guy there if he minded if I just asked a quick question and he said that was fine. I got the man behind the counter attention and he asked me if I saw there was a line and I said I already asked if I could jump in and ask a quick question. He was very rude with his tone and looking at me like I was some horrible person. I asked if they had any international stamps and he answered really short no loudly and like he was very irritated that I asked. Do not use the drive thru mailboxes. They get so full that sometimes letters are sticking out of the slot. This is clearly due to lazy business owners using the outside recepticles for large mailings instead of taking their stuff inside. On more than one occasion I have had bills that I mailed from this location never arrive. read more

I'm going to venture to say that going to the post office during the holiday season is not on anyone's favorite things to do list. Who wants to take a break from the magical world of snow and caroling and sugar plum ferries for the long lines and fluorescent lighting of the US Post Office? That being said, this one isn't half bad and it was actually 3K pretty decent experience. YES, there were lines in mid December. It's the freaking holidays! But here's what made it better: + There's an automated machine! I've only found one other machine in Denver (Cherry Creek, to be specific), but I think these things are genius. + There's a big parking lot! Forget about paying a meter and schlepping your gifts for blocks and blocks. They also have drive up boxes if you want to mail your holiday cards or small packages without even getting out of your warm and toasty car. + There was a lady directing traffic between the automated machine and the actual humans who work at the Post Office. Do not come here if you value your time in any way! Slowest service I've ever encountered. Friendly employees, but spend an average 10 minutes per customer, packing up their items for them, chatting about their life stories, etc. Very frustrating for customers who expect efficiency. I've been using this post office for almost 20 years and I'm proud that these folks are in my community. They are very kind even with irate unreasonable customers which I've seen plenty of. They are thorough and know what they're talking about. The front can be understaffed at times but that's really not the employees fault is it? This is a rating for the USPS on general. First, since November; they have messed up every delivery to me. Second, their customer service is pathetic. They truly don't care and will not go any sort of extra mile to help you. That statement applies to the locations as well. Furthermore, when they make a mistake; they don't even admit it or take responsibility, even when you know for a fact it is their fault. They have become too big to care and are not held accountable by themselves, most of their customers and definitely not the branch of Government that monitors and regulates them. I went to pick up a package from the Montclair USPS on 11th and usually always have great customer service from the gentlemen that work there. Today I was "assisted" by Mary and walked out of there livid. The woman needs a serious attitude adjustment. She was yelling at people from behind the desk in line the entire time I waited and then talked over me yelling "how do you know the package is here" three times while I was trying to tell her. She was so rude and I hate her and she should not be in customer service. Karens do not belong in customer service. read more

This post office seems to be tucked away. Even in the height of Christmas rush, this post office was not crazy busy. A very short line and I was out of there fairly quickly. I have a Post Office box here and come in and out on a regular basis. I do not understand the negative reviews. I have never had anything but a positive customer service experience. I don't know any names, but the staff all seem squared away. The only complaint I have is that the parking lot needs to be re-paved (as mentioned by others). read more

The employees at this post office seem polite, and generally I have received good customer sercvice in person. However, Montclair Post Office misshandles packages too often, and my packages go missing. There seems to be a serious breakdown of the chain of custody of packages. No delivery notices are provided and packages just vanish. A package was sent by my mother to arrive before April 1, with a gift for Easter. About two weeks later, I came to the post office looking for this package. The staff told me, it was not there. Few days later, I received a delivery notification card with an illegible tracking number. When I brought it to the post office, I was told the package was not there. Two employees went looking for the package in the back of the office, but came back empty handed. I left my address and phone number with the female employee and was told that someone will call me back when the package was located. I have never received the call. On April 24, I came back to the post office, looking for yet another package, this time from Amazon, for which I received a "delivered" message. The package was not at the post office, but the person helping me brought out the first lost package! It was received and stored at the Post Office since April 11....as written on it by someones hand.... I have not received a delivery notice for either package initially. No one contacted me by phone to let me know the package was found. The package from Amazon is still missing, despite the notice that it was left with a resident. The package is not found at the front or patio door, not with my neighbours, and not in the package boxes, as no key was left for me in my mailbox. The delivery address was the correct address. New package lock boxes have been installed as required and can be used for packages delivery. Above all, USPS mailmen MUST leave a delivery notice if the recipient is to pick up the package at the post office. read more

When you get to the Montclair website for 8275 E 11TH AVE DENVER, CO 80220-9998 The phone number is wrong! It rings half a dozen times then a solid beep that never ends. Bizarre. Not a fax, not a voicemail, just noise. Fax # is actually a fax, but no one uses faxes any more, at least not consumers. Oh wait, there's an 800 number. Middle of the day on a Tuesday, should be easy to get through, right? Wrong Spanky. If you manage to get through the algorithm that NSA couldn't even crack, you get the option to ask for an agent. I challenge you to call the 800# and try to find that option. Virtually impossible. If you're very lucky, as in lottery lucky, it will ask you if you would like to speak to an agent. Minimum of an hour wait. It tells you that when you call. "Oh yeah, we suck, just letting you know." Wait time is an hour. USPS is going downhill. Actually was already going downhill, now it's going faster. Will be obsolete soon. read more

Look, no one ever wants to GO to a USPS location. It's never fun. There's always a line and like a 1/4 of a person working. Those are just USPS facts. But this location stands out. On several occasions I have been in and gotten exceptional service. Yes, I have to wait but the people who work here are kind and friendly. They try to make the wait go faster. And in my latest experience, he even gave me my package that had postage due because even he didn't understand why anything was due. It had clearly been paid for. It's this type of exceptional customer service that makes the difference between standing in line here and standing in line elsewhere. read more

This is one of the worst post offices in Denver. It happens to be my main post office to pick up mail that needs a signature. Otherwise I go to the post office on Hudson where customers are valued. Twice now I have come in and only one person was behind the counter and when the second person came in the other person went on break or something. The line was out the door. So as my tip said, I know for a fact you do not want to come in on Tuesdays at lunch time unless you have an hour to spare. I also know that you do not want to come in on Thursday mornings. I think the two women who most often work at this location are saints. I have seen people literally freak out in this location every time I'm there. Unfortunately, I don't think it's to the fault of anyone who works there, but rather the people who are visiting the branch seem to have a strong sense of entitlement. I've seen people swear and scream at the workers here with situations that escalated really quickly...how do you think you're ever going to get a result that way people?! They have a self-service station, P.O. Boxes, greeting cards, as well as priority and flat rate mailers for your shipping needs. In all reality they know the SOB is running late and want you to wait. Yep, this is exactly happen to me on March 20, 2021 at the Montclair Post Office of Denver, CO 80220. I am a senior citizen disabled veteran of the Vietnam Ear that depends upon my medication being mailed from the veterans hospital. During my active duty with military as a career solider I developed hypertension. Like any other veteran or senior the mailing of medication vital to us due to major health conditions. In additional it's convent and safe for not having to drive and wait in a line due to the COVID-19 situation. The USPS Informed Delivery notified me that my medication had arrived at the Montclair Post Office for pickup. Being that I have a general mailbox and not a business oversized one a key has always been left for me to retrieve any large parcels in a bigger box. This was not the norm at March 20th. I notification had been left for me to bring it to the counter for pickup. The sliding doors had been closed with a small potion open. I got both the two employees cows attention and informed them I needed to pick up my medication from the VA because it contained my blood pressure medication. The two employee cows quickly stated and rehearsed echoing the words "WE ARE CLOSED"! Again, I stressed the point I needed my blood pressure medication but they mowed and said nothing. In other words the two cows completely ignored me again. Theses are the same two JUDAS's that I have interacted with when there a large general population of individuals in the lobby area. They will portray a good "F" IMAGE to the public but be late two minutes and say what they tell you. As a matter of fact I have been there when they closed and a small section was left open and they still served customers that was WHITE. As post offices go, this location is one of the best around. I ship a lot of packages and the 80220 office is my go-to. That's saying something since I have a PO Box in the 80210 location. Sherman, Jamal and the rest of the crew are friendly, helpful and a pleasure to work with. This office almost has a small town feel to it.
