This location is a full-service post office, located at the West side of the City. I was at the post office this week and saw the bronze plaque, which reminded me of the ceremony. In 2006, I was fortunate to attend the dedication of the post office in honor of Captain Lillian L. Keil. She was a resident of the City and retired from the US Air Force as a Flight Nurse during World War II. She passed away in 2005, Congress passed a bill naming this post office in her memory. I vividly remember Congresswoman Hilda Solis initiating this request and Commander George Ogden from the West Covina Veterans Post speaking on Captain Keils' numerous awards and achievements. Salute to the military officials and troops who fight to keep our Country safe!! Note: The City has a second post office by City Hall, but it's a smaller satellite office. They do not have residential home delivery service. All mail at 5pm is taken to this location on Rimsdale Avenue. A large semi truck arrives at 6pm and takes ALL outgoing mail from the City to the hub in the City of Industry. That is the logistics of sending and receiving mail in this city. We are able to use the self-service machine to buy postal and mail small packages, letters and bills (*:*). Good and efficient service, you can depend on them to assist you every day. Just stopped by to apply for a new passport. We arrived 30 mins early, filled out the paperwork and then had our passport photo taken. The office is very clean, organized, and open airy. I have submitted a passport application at this office but more commonly I consider this to be my main post office for outgoing mail. I will sometimes go out of my way to drop off packages because they have been reliable and never lost my mail. The staff here are very nice and knowledgeable of services and products. They also have the capacity to scan QR codes if you do not have a printer at home to print labels. There was only one instance that my QR code didn't work but that was not an issue on their end but with Poshmark. I especially like that their blue bin for self service and package drop off is located inside the branch. It feels more secure than leaving them in a blue bin outside or even on the counter within anyone's reach. The lines can sometimes be long especially if you go during any rush times or near the end of the day, but remember please be kind and patient. read more

I see that a lot of existing reviews complain about the passport process. I haven't had the need to renew my passport at this location yet, so I cannot comment on that. However, from what I've observed, I do believe the entire passport process is cumbersome to both the employees and the customers, so hang in there, everyone. My own experience with this USPS is actually quite pleasant. I do not use this office heavily, but I do need to pick up packages from time to time. If I come at a busy time, when there is a line, I usually still manage to receive what I need within 10 minutes. I actually think the efficiency is quite high. Given, it depends on if there is a resourceful supervisor on duty. There's this one Asian lady (I am guessing she's a sup) that is reliably speedy during rush hours. If the line starts to form longer and longer, she'd yell out, "Anyone here just to drop off or pick up?" And customers who quality (including me) would be served by her personally and swiftly. In fact, she is, time after time, the quickest worker there to find my package in the back, which otherwise may take a long while by other employees. (Side note: at other locations, packages could be retrieved at a side door. Here, they never seem to utilize this door unless in very, very rare occasions. I dunno why that is, but since counter service is usually quick and sufficient enough, this has not been a real issue.) Workers at this location are, in general, friendly enough. I don't have very high expectation for any USPS staff due to the infamous stereotype popularized in our media, but really, the team at this branch doesn't seem all that bad. In addition, this location is spacious, neat, and clean, which is a high upgrade from the neighboring branch near the West Covina mall. (That one's quite awful. It always seems to be a mess there.) It also features a PO Box section, which people seem to be quite satisfied with for the most part. This section opens after hours, which isn't always true at all the branches, so it's quite convenient to have this perk. As of late, next to the many PO boxes is this newly upgraded self-service kiosk. It's got more screens than the older model, and the fonts seem to be bigger and clearer, too. Again, I haven't used this myself, but it surely looks nice, new, and easy to use. Dare I say a bit pretty, too? Overall, this USPS just isn't that bad! It could be much worse. I am waiting in the post office now, after hours as I type this review. Supervisor Andy is in the back somewhere going the extra mile talking to amazon.com about my packages. For some reason they could not be delivered to the Amazon Locker and 3 attempts were made. Since these are textbooks for my current semester, every day that they don't show up is a day that I'm missing out on crucial information. It is one hour past closing time and still Andy is helping me out long after all the other customers have gone home. In addition to him the other postal workers here are really friendly and as this is my local post office I come here to buy stamps or mail packages. It seems that the postal workers all have a good rapport with one another, and then when I was here earlier they were joking amongst each other and laughing with the customers, which is a really nice feeling to have in a post office if you have to wait in line. Staff will not answer your simple question, super slow and the line is insanely long with only one staff at the counter. Staff were mad at each other and were complaining the whole time we were in line. We were waiting to apply for our passport, and we were there for about an hour and half. And when we finally got to the counter, staff are acting like we owe them a million bucks. I hate to give this post office a one-star but they have lost my mail so many times that it has cost me money. I have an Etsy shop and initially, I was sending some stickers without a tracking number as they charge so much just for a tracking number (pretty much the price of the stickers). I found a way to do it through Etsy for much cheaper and NOW I provide a tracking number but for the orders that I did not there was no way to track what happened and I had to refund someone money for the post office's mistake of losing the mail. It's a 100% loss for me as I printed and sent the PERSONALIZED product (meaning I couldn't even sell it if it came back to me). Another thing is I call and they NEVER answer the phone and when I had to drive there to talk to someone I told one of the workers about them never answering their phones and his response was to giggle. If you have a business and are worried about them losing your mail avoid this post office. I clearly list on my item posts that I am NOT responsible for lost items but the truth, I feel bad that the seller has to pay and not receive an item that I had to refund back on a few occasions. Also, I ended up with a nasty review about this when it was totally not my fault but the post office's. Anyhow, avoid this place! read more

Quick and Easy Process getting my Passport Jose was the best! Super helpful and nice. I went into the office with all my application paperwork completed, birth certificate and ID ready to go. Jose squeezed me in although they were already booked up for the day. Jose took my pictures and looked over my paperwork to make sure it was all complete. Every time I have come here, the line moves fast and the employee helping me is uber-courteous and helpful (This time Freddy, thank you) Yesterday I found out I was paying way too much for shipping by using my friendly neighborhood USPS outlet that resides in the back of a pharmacy. Apparently, they don't have the same options and maybe they add a fee on top of the postage? Don't know, because the very same package cost over 6.00-10.00 CHEAPER when I took it to this P.O. Who knew? I hope I wasn't just lucky about my good experience here but I don't think so- I do not like the San Dimas P.O. (always a very long line and uses the number system to control it) nor the Covina downtown annex (I always get the employee that acts like they are chained by the ankle to their post and none too happy to be there) There is also a self-service scale you can use to weigh packages and estimate shipping and self-serve stamp machines if you aren't into waiting in line. read more

I'm not quite sure how this place doesn't have any reviews yet. Now let me note that I use this place out of convenience (it's around the corner from my house). Although you'll see tons of cars going into the parking lot, parking has never been a problem. Turns out most of the cars just drive up to the mailbox to drop off mail. Inside is never too crowded, and if there's a line it's rarely long. I tend to use the automated postal center because their faster. Minus one star for the slow rate of mail delivery when letters are dropped in the wall slot. It took 3 weeks for someone in the next city over to get my mail. So knowing this, I just drop the mail in the mailboxes outside. read more

Came here to do my passport on a Saturday morning. Came in at 10:10am. Did not get out till 11:47am. Even though the website says passports end at 12:30pm, they stop taking customers around 11:30am because of how long the line is. If you can, I suggest you do your passport on a weekday, which should be faster. Just to make a copy of your license costs $1.00 per page. The regular mail services are okay. The line goes by pretty quickly but some of the workers are rude. I guess thats what happens when they try to rush everything. Area is secluded from the main street. Parking is not bad. read more

When in to get my passport. After signing in that morning, I return for my appointment at 2:50 pm. They expect you to be there 10 mins before. I get there 20 mins earlier. They tell me that they are running behind schedule, to stand aside and wait. And I waited and waited with many others who also made appointments. Absolutely, a total waste of time. This review is for mailing documents from this location only !! As I do like some of the customer service people like Fern she's a doll I give her 5 stars. But I recently mailed a letter from this PO headed to LA less then 10-15 miles away and it took 15 days to get to its destination. Because all mail that comes here is picked up by the Santa Ana PO plant truck after it is sorted here then goes to that location to be sorted again so if you have paid priority mail that goes out first and if you add a service like certified mail then your next in line so on and so forth but if you just put a stamp no other upgraded service good luck if you have a deadline as it took my piece of mail 15 days to get there. Online passport hours say that 12:30pm is the latest they will do their services on a Saturday. So then why is that I go in at 11:59am and they say they had a "huge line in the morning and they weren't doing them anymore." There was nothing about a line and appointments online. So either they have a faulty website or the employees don't keep the hours. There was nobody inside, the place was empty, all my paperwork was done. Went here on a Thursday morning to get my passport done after 6.5 years of lagging (and my parents nagging for said lagging). Finally got a day off of work to do this, so I had to make it count. Pro-tip: EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM. If you can, regardless of what time you were *thinking* of getting your passport done, arrive before they open at 8:30AM. Wait, and when they open, sign your name under the time of your choosing on the appointment sheet. All spots usually get taken within the first couple hours of the day, so the security and convenience is worth getting up early for. Arrived at 8:30, signed in for their third appointment spot, 10:10AM. Came back 15 minutes before, and when my appointment time came, everything was super smooth and I was out of there in 15 minutes. Didn't get her name, but the woman processing my passport was Vietnamese and even starting giving suggestions for when I get around to visiting the "home country" haha. So I go here to mail some letters and as I pull in to the drive thru, where you drop your letters in the outdoor mailbox and theres no mailboxes which meant I had to wait for a car to leave so I could park and go inside to mail my letters..nice.
