I am seriously convinced that in order to get a job working at this post office you have to pass a test to make sure you're rude. The people working were all incredibly rude and passive with customers. When it was my turn the women helping me kept interrupting me and saying "I'll answer that when we get there" in a very rude and stuck up way. I was also interested in buying stamps and above them was a poster with new stamps and I asked if I could purchase the cowboy looking one and immediately responded "no" in an aggressive way and when I gave her a questioning look she scoffed and said "we don't even have them in so no" . She also called after someone without a mask and said "next time wear a mask there required" and looked right at me because I wasn't wearing a mask also. Keep in mind almost every customer in there wasn't wearing one. I understand masks are required and so I put mine on but after she called out loud after the customer an employee comes out of the back NOT WEARING A MASK to talk to her and she didn't say anything?? So customers are being enforced and scolded for not wearing them but your own employees don't have to follow ?? read more

Absolutely horrible service on my route. We have lived here two years now. Half the time our mail ends up in our neighbors box and theirs in ours. When we have a package coming 80% of the time it does get left where we have instructed based in the "special delivery card" we have filled (3x) that is in file. And don't get me started on IF that package needs a signature because 100% of the time they do not even knock on the door and when tracking it online they put "receipiant not available". Happened again today. Tried calling the office before they closed and of course the phone was not answered. So i went to the office and luckily spoke to a carrier who said they would put a note on my address so i can pick up my package tomorrow. So we will see. So tired of hearing from them that "it must be a substitute carrier" on our route. So this will be my 7th or 8th time going into the office to try and figure out why they CANNOT seem to do their jobs. And on a side note. Can anyone explain to me why when we mail something here in Chico to another address here in Chico, that it must go to Sacramento then come back to Chico for delivery? I enjoy this place. You can come in after hours and put your mail in the letter slot or box so it'll be picked up at the next pick up time. They have automated machines so you can buy the correct amount of postage and not have to wait in line and deal with people (if all you are after is mailing your box!). Not only do they have one automated machine, they have two! Sweet! Be wary of old men and their farts here! One guy was letting them out pretty good during one of the last times I came here and it was dead silent.....fun! read more

Unfortunately, a post office box at the post office annex does no good if the doors are locked even when the sign says they are open. For the past few weeks, I have been wasting trips to the post office to pick up our business' mail between 7:15-7:45 AM. The sign on the doors says they are open from 7:00AM on, but it's repeatedly locked even 30-45 minutes later than that. They sold us the PO Box with the facility open 24 hours, now they've locked us out until 7AM, but then they are still not even open at that posted time. I feel like they're holding our mail (and as a result, our business) hostage behind locked doors. I didn't want to write a sad review, but I've called them a couple times asking for this to get fixed and unfortunately it still continues. Very frustrating. read more

I have called this postal location everyday multiple times a day for the last week. I have requested an address change back in December, online and again end of December with a tangible request form at a local post office. I am not receiving my mail and have opened a claim with USPS online as well. I cannot get through to anyone, anywhere...what is a person suppose to do if nobody follows up from every avenue I try?!?! For the past three years we have had frequent wrong mail delivered to our mail box in front of my house. We know our neighbors so we take the mail to their homes. We are on Dayton, we have delivered mail all the way to Diamond. Some we have taken to the Post Office for them to re-deliver. Lately, the postman is not picking up my outgoing mail. Employees here are so RUDE! I do not know if they have been working for many years and they are "over it" but it shows and their customer service is terrible. Today the white woman with curly short blonde hair had the biggest attitude because I asked her where the stickers were to write the address on, she replied "Because we don't have any" in the most rudest way and topped it off with an eye roll. I said where do we write it at? "On the box" followed by with another eye roll. Then I asked if I could barrow a pen to write on the package and she acted like I asked her for right arm. There is another older woman there with glasses and grey hair who is also rude! I don't understand why what's with the attitude. I also work retail, and I "get it" but you need to "fake it" if you can't be nice. The only reason I gave this place 2 starts is for the older gentleman with the white hair. As a college student I don't visit the post office much, due to having a mail room at my disposal. Since summer came along I had to pick up some stuff that was directed there. It was a long walk so when my sister and I got there we were a little short tempered. The lady who helped me out was Joy. I told her about how I had to put a hold on my mail. Since college students mail needs to be redirected the mail is currently in a huge bin... great. I was nervous I wouldn't get my mail and would have to receive a refund instead. I begged Joy to ask around since it had attempted deliveries earlier this past week. Must be accessible... right? Joy went out of her way to find my mail, which was not her responsibility since it's suppose to be redirected. She made my walk worth it, and I'm very happy. Worst post office I've ever been to and I've been to many. It wasn't just a single bad experience or I wouldn't leave a bad review, but multiple bad experiences. One time out of five visits, I had a really nice and helpful guy at the counter. All the other times, you get the distinct impression they enjoy making things difficult for people. I understand it's a thankless job and they probably deal with a-holes all day long, but I'm not one of them. I'm polite, respectful & friendly but it seems they are permanently grouchy and rather militant. "You didn't dot your I!" "Back of the line!" Really, lady? It's not just me either. I hear about this post office all the time at work. We use it frequently and every single time, there's a problem. They're not consistent with their "rules" either. Depending on who you talk to, the rules or the story changes every time. Absolutely unprofessional and rude. If you have an option, go to another post office. The others in the area are much better; friendly, helpful, professional. This place is the WORST! Boo for crabby people! Nobody wants to be at the post office to begin with. The worst customer service Ever. they have a nice recording but just leave you hanging on the phone forever. the recording said my wait was 4 to 6min but it was over 25mins and no came to the phone. customer service is a game with these folks. Normally I would give Chico postal Service a zero, but today Sue made a huge difference by providing excellent service.. She listened to me and responded while providing exactly what I needed . I had lost my PO BOX keys for the temp boxes due to the fire in the annex. In a previous visit I was told in summary by a supervisor "to forget getting another key" . I offered to pay for a new key. But she walked away and would not listen. I went in today and Sue (responsible for keys) said as she handed me new keys with a smile "they just came in today". Sue was pleasant friendly and a pleasure to deal with. I have found in the last 6 years that this behavior is the exception NOT the rule. read more

This is the post office I prefer going to in Chico. If there is a line, the workers are motivated to clear the line quickly. I never wait long, and I never feel rushed either. Today I was helped by Rob. He is one of my favorite workers to be assisted by. He never ever minds when I ask him for suggestions on the best or most cost effective way to ship things. He is very thorough, and quick to be of service. He walks me through things, helps with my packaging, points out my tracking, etc. and always asks if there is anything else I may need. Whenever I get to the Post Office, I always hope I get either Rob, or another guy that once I get his name I'll add it to my review. Today I was an especially disorganized mess, but Rob was kind and accommodating. I really appreciated it, especially since I'm not normally like that. I'll definitely be back to the Vallombrosa Post Office like usual, hopefully with me not having such an off day. Thank you again :) Edit - here is the name of the other person I like there - Doyle!! Many times I have notified my mail carrier that someone in the Post Office on Vallombrosa I feel is stealing my Sports Illustrated magazines that come out each week. I am lucky if I get one for the whole month. It is very frustrating, so the only recourse was to cancel the magazine itself, which I just did. No one seems to care if they were being stolen. Also, those envelopes that put coins on the front of their envelopes for all to see, asking me for more money for their charity are being stolen! Someone is ripping into into the cellphone window of the envelope and actually stealing the coins! The post office is no longer a safe institution for your mail like it used to be. It is a true government office. The employees are typically not very friendly, and frankly they are more concerned with their breaks and benefits than customer service. As soon as UPS and FedEx figure out how to make daily, regular mail delivery fit into their business plan, the post office is done. read more

Don't bother calling, the staff are too busy ignoring the line . When I seek help I am immediately ushered into the manager line whose wait time makes the DMV look like the Flash. There has not been one time my grandson's packages has not been delivered to wrong address or not delivered at all. He is now 5 years old; you cannot do that to a little kid. Whoever this postman is, he is a total and complete idiot!! Thankfully, I send every package by Priority or Overnight Mail so I was able to prove I did send the package. However, unless the inadvertent receiver was kind enough to return the package, my grandson was out of luck. USPS has done nothing at all to reprimand this postman. I don't know if he's the son of a big wig in service or he has dirt on someone, but this unchecked behavior isn't normal or acceptable, I'm retired Army, and this would would not be a tolerated. If it were tolerated for a time, eventually the culprit will be reprimanded for conduct not befitting a soldier or officer. I am only giving a star for the men who are very kind that work in this office. I'd like to point out that Beverly in particular is very rude. I am currently in town working as a journalist and cannot use my work mailbox for private mail, so instead all packages have been coming general delivery. Anytime I confront Beverly about a package coming in general delivery, she takes my ID, walks back and literally turns around within two minutes and says it's not there. I constantly get back in line WITH my tracking number present in hope to speak to one of the delightful gentlemen who work there. Sadly, less and less people are going with USPS these days and it's a wonder why. I am flabbergasted. I cannot believe how utterly rude and disrespectful these people are. It's against the law to keep my package when I have a tracking number telling me that it's there and if it keeps going on I will make a phone call. read more

I had two packages delivered this morning. (Dec. 21). The delivery person actually rang the doorbell, followed by a loud knocking on the door when I didn't answer because I wasn't feeling well. He took the time to hide the packages behind a chair on our front porch. I brought the packages in when he left. About ten minutes later when he was still delivering packages in our area, he stopped, again got out of his truck, and came up to the door to knock again. I answered this time. He just wanted to make sure that I was the one that had taken the packages. UPS hasn't even knocked on our door this year when delivering packages to us. Kudos to the USPS! read more

I have a broken lock at our community mail boxes. I called to have someone come out and repair it, as I have always done, and was told I have to bring the key in, fill out paperwork and then maybe they will come out to repair the lock. What? I am telling you and our carrier is telling you that the lock is broken. Very much lacking in customer service. "They wouldn't accept responsibility for the lost package." That was their own words. A package that was marked as out for delivery never arrived so I check the tracking history and it said it was never scanned as delivered. So I went in twice before I went on vacation and talked to two different people including the manage who took my number and said they would call me back after searching for it. A week later, I am on vacation and call at least 10 times in one day. Not a single call was picked up and they were all eventually disconnected. So I ask my dad to go in to the office. He goes in twice and gives them an earful and they tell him that they don't know where the package is and "won't accept responsibility for it" even though they were the ones who said it was out for delivery and was never delivered. What a joke and completely unprofessional. They don't care about their customers whatsoever. If you want your packages to arrive and not be potentially stolen or lost, use UPS or Fedex. So a friend went here and waited in line for 20 minutes to send something registered mail (which she has never done before), but instead of helping her through the process and explaining things to her and giving her other options they charged her $345 to send the envelope. Not knowing any better she paid the money. Now she is out $345 that she did not HAVE to spend. My review is not just about the physical location at Vallombrosa; they're fine for the most part, just a little testy when you ask too many questions. I was mailing something I sold and told the clerk I needed to hold on to the package once we determined the amount of and I purchased postage. She informed me in no uncertain terms that once she puts postage on it she was not giving me the package back. Not a bit friendly, acted like I was about to rob the federal government. The worst. Ironically her name was Joy. Joyless Joy. Go figure. The rest treat you like you are imposing upon them. Granted they deal with the riffraff that wreaks havoc anywhere they can get into a building and I'm sure that location is no exception. Pens and tape constantly disappear. They are probably frustrated workers so good, paying customers get the fallout of their unhappy disposition. My bigger complaint is how incompetent the delivery service is to my home. I could have written a complaint last summer when they lost a package and I called daily for WEEKS, left notes in my mail box, sure that the carrier put my package in the wrong locker. Nothing. They didn't have the decency to check the 20 or so lockers to find it. It took THREE MONTHS for the package to show up. Yeah, it was in the wrong locker. I didn't write a review then. Now, 5 misplaced packages later, I am beyond fed up with the post office in Chico. My package was delivered yesterday according to tracking but it isn't in my mailbox. Instead I have somebody else's package. I called the post office this morning and was placated by somebody who said she was sure the carrier would notice it was in the wrong place. Nope. Still don't have my package. I am now going to permanently have my packages sent elsewhere. I can't stand dealing with these imbeciles any more. They just don't give a crap about their job and it shows. By the way, one of the other misplaced items was an envelope with my new debit card that was STOLEN out of my mail when a disgruntled postal worker left the job last year and took a master key. I'm not sure which location my mail is delivered from, it could be this post office or the one on 5th. But today I tried to call to arrange to have all of my packages require a signature upon delivery. This is because both, my roommate and I, have had our packages stolen or ripped up, left empty, only to find the trash from the packaging lying in our front yard. I live downtown, so there are lots of people walking past my house day to day. My house has a set of stairs and a porch where the door is. The mail carriers rarely take the time to walk my package up to my door and most times I find my packages on the ground in front of my stairs (making it accessible to whoever may see them and want to take them). Also, when we put things in the mail, like our bills or other important documents, they will sit clipped to the mailbox for days until the mail carrier has something to be delivered. When I first realized people had been stealing our packages, I tried to call to prevent it from happening again and didn't get any real help to do so. When I called today I only got the constant ringing and then eventually it would disconnect me after awhile of waiting. I called 5 times with the same result. This continued a few times until I finally got ahold of someone who happened to be a supervisor. I asked for the signature option and he told me I would have to pay for that since it is an inconvenience to the mail carrier as he would then have to bring it up to my door....even though they are supposed to take packages to to your door, without any special request. I'm confused. And if we're being honest, time being the reason behind the fee for the required signatures, is kind of ironic. The inconvenience of having Christmas presents and other packages stolen and the time that I've spent just trying to talk to someone, ANYONE from the post office is probably greater than the time it would take for the carrier to get my signature. Or for that matter, the time it would've taken him to just bring my packages to the door, from the start. And you won't see me asking for any type of reimbursement payment or fee. I usually don't get on here and write bad reviews, but I am astonished that a government run agency could be so irresponsible with handling people's personal mail and continue to provide such poor customer service. read more

I set up forwarding when I moved, but a carrier delivered a package worth $100 to my old address. It hasn't been made clear to me why the package was delivered in the first place instead of being forwarded. The package is now lost. I spoke to a manager in person who instructed me to call back in 3 days if I hadn't heard anything. When I called, I spoke to a different manager who said I would receive a call by the end of that same day. Again, no call. When I tried to call them today my call was disconnected. read more
