I've never had a positive experience at any USPS office--until now. The worst by far has been the main office in Pilsen on Ashland, where the service has consistently been slow and unhelpful. That said, Shannon is the absolute exception and the true cornerstone of this location. She seems to be the only employee actually keeping this office running. We went to the Chinatown location for my daughter's passport appointment, and thanks entirely to Shannon, the experience was efficient, professional, and genuinely pleasant. She handled everything quickly and kindly, and we were in and out without any issues. USPS needs more employees like her. Please keep this location open and allow Shannon to continue providing the excellent service she clearly takes pride in. read more

I see so many negative reviews, hopefully; they got rid of all of those customer agents. I went there today, like February 13, 2024, and received great service, even though only one lady was working out front running everything. I must say she was businesslike, efficient yet very friendly and outgoing making sure you understood everything, giving all the correct prices and even more. I thought she was doing a great job, even speaking to many of the customers who live in the Chinatown community--I live in South Loop and had to visit this one to get a passport. The USPS postal worker was Latishia and she told me she had been there since September of last year, so she definitely came after the bad reviews I see here. This is a crazy story. Please sit tight and fasten your seat belt. Today, I want to ship one package using USPS Priority service to Middle East. So I went to this place. One of staffs there said there was no receipt that she could provide me. If I do want one, I need to pay $1.30. I refused because I have mailed so many international packages before and never heard about the fee like this. Then I asked her name, because she didn't wear any name tag. She said her name is "Post Officer" ! What a joke ! Btw, she called me IDIOT ! Seriously ! This is way out of the line to treate your customer. Of course, I was very upset and tried to watch out my own words. Then I went to 433 West Harrison, I think this is USPS regional headquarter. They took care of my package as normal and gave me the receipt. Meanwhile, I was also told by them to take a pic of this lady working at this location. (which, you, as a customer, should NOT do this in a Federal building, Post Office ! ) So I went back to this place, and tried to take a pic of this lady. Suddenly, she went crazy and yelled to me "Don't ever come back ! " Not a surprise, she called me an IDIOT second time. Funny part was she hided herself behind the wall and she even called the 911, saying that I was threantening her. Well, again, this was not the truth, otherwise, I wouldn't be let go by the police. Finally, I went back to 433 West Harrison, talked to poster master or some customer service person. Obviously, they had heard things like this before. But definitely not to the degree of craziness like this. They promised they would have area or regional manager get back to me with final result next Monday. Well, I did spend a lot of efforts to correct something like this happening in our daily lives. I tried not just to complain and do nothing. And I do think we all should rise up by taking actions instead of just being upset. (This is the longest and first complaint I wrote about USPS in Chicago. I hope someday USPS would get better. A lot of my friends asked me, "Do you think that USPS cares about those reviews ?". I replied, "They do care ONE DAY ! And we, as customers, should do more to help USPS be aware of their issues, than just writing a bad review") UPDATE: After weeks of efforts, post master helped setup a conversation between me and branch manager directly. But branch manager was obviously TOO busy to give me a update even she promised that she would gave me a update last Monday. But not a surprise, no call from branch manager. So I decided to go to district post office again today to find the update by myself. Today, post master setup a phone call between me and branch manager. She notified me that the issue has been resolved as when I asked for more updates. But when I asked HOW, she refused to inform me anything about their internal decisions, which was ok with me. But how can I be assured that the issue has been 100% resolved without knowing anything from high level ? I request for a official writtern apology from USPS. They said they would do so. The staff are usually rude and slow. Lines tend to build up. They hired that asian guy and he does nothing. Literally the worst postal office ever. Went in for my 1:00 passport appointment and she said they were closed until 2:00 for lunch. She completely ignored us and after we said we had a confirmed appointment she said she tried calling to tell us to come in at 2:00 but she never did. My boyfriend also had an appointment and she called to ask him to come in at 1:30 and then when we're they she said "No I told him to come in at 2:00." This place has failed me time and time again. Unfortunately, this is the closest location to my place. Service is terrible, the one clerk that is usually there behinds the counter talks on the phone while working and doesn't even make eye contact with you. Wait time is at least 30 minutes because there's typically only one person working. Management here stinks! I stopped by today to drop off a package and it turns out that they are closed temporarily until late afternoon. This place is ALWAYS understaffed even on the weekends which makes no sense because I would assume it'd be the busiest of all days. Every time I come here there is one maybe 2 staff working in the front. Staff isn't always the friendliest people either. I gave a generous one extra star because as I was waiting in the ridiculous long line on a Saturday morning, I witnessed (finally!!) a lady working in front showing patience, kindness and doing what she can to satisfy her customers' needs one at a time. So I might have exaggerated. It wasn't a ridiculously long line per se but there were a good 5 or 6 customers in front of me. Depending what the customers need, it may take a while. Myself and many others in line were trying to apply for a passport or passports before it hit 12pm because that is when they stop taking them on Saturdays. And as you may know, that takes a good 10 minutes even if you have all your forms completed beforehand. You can do the math, it took quite some time. Please feel free to visit this location if you have absolutely have nothing else to do for the rest of the day and enjoy standing in line while watching retards work. Expect to see 4 counters and only 1 staff working. Prepare to bring a sandwich and drink if God forbids someone in front of you is getting their passport application in. I have been to many post offices and this one is the worst! Service is fine but that Asian man that walks around like he is the sole owner is not worth anything. He is extremely intimidating and rude. He has this attitude that belongs in the dump. He always finds a problem with everything from sending a parcel to renewing the passport. a couple of the women who work there are really nice to me whenever i'm there. the only problem is the arrogant chinese man who works there. the whole point of him being there is because the office is located in chinatown and that he is there to help the chinese customers who do not understand english. he is so rude and mean to his own people. he talks to them like they are stupid or something. when he sees something wrong he will yell and make the person feel stupid. his job is to find mistakes and help people correct them so things can be shipped out properly, not belittle the customers and point out every mistake. he confuses the hell out of the chinese customers even more. he is a rude jerk who needs to be put in his place soon! it is such a waste of money on hiring someone like him. most people who need help are elderly and new immigrants who want to buy stamps or get passports and he is yelling at them and explaining things to them in a way that they would never understand. i feel that he is getting away with this because the people he does this to cannot speak english and therefore cannot complain. read more
