Oh my god where to even begin. I missed a delivery and the guy left me a note saying that it was ready for pick up on the 15th of november. So i GO, and they say they don't' have it and to come back the next day. I COME back the next day and they still don't have it. Two days later, I return and they still don't have it. Not to mention the staff there are UNBELIVABLY rude and seem to hate their jobs. I don't even believe my package isn't there, there is no where else it possibly could be!! THIS POST OFFICE STINKS. I mailed a necklace and processed the order directly with the clerk (not online). Luckily I bought insurance, because the tracking number on my ticket showed up online as "Not able to track," for WEEKS, even though they verified it was the right number. I am in the process of filing a missing mail claim with the post office to get my money back. Who knows how long that will take. But wait, there's more: this morning I learned that ANOTHER package I sent from this post office is listed as "Not able to track." This is less than two weeks later! UPDATE: the first package mentioned above was delivered - 30 FREAKING DAYS after I mailed it! Priority mail and everything. I had already filed an insurance claim (which naturally took half and hour and 3 postal workers to process). The outcome? I get nothing - no insurance claim, which makes sense, but also no refund of my shipping price. I guess "these things happen" at this branch. Good old USPS. If you are mailing anything of value, print out the postage on USPS.com and hand your package to the clerk. You'll be able to at least track it. I've done this and had no problems so far. If it was possible to give 0 stars, I definitely would. Employees need to be trained in proper customer service etiquette. They are rude constantly and clearly hate their jobs. I mean if you don't like your job, quit. It's that simple. They are also incompetent. I'll start this review by saying that these folks do really have a tough job. The customers that come in here are generally not well-informed or prepared nor are they patient. That being said, this place is still the worst. Of course the hours are 9-5, so if you have any kind of normal job, you can't make it here during the week. Saturday hours are just 8-1, and it's a mad-house. I missed Saturday so I came in on Tuesday morning. Right at opening, there was a line of 10 with only one window open. Eventually, they opened a 2nd window but not before the line grew to 15-20 customers. Very slow going. The staff seems very unmotivated and unconcerned with speed. They look for any reason not to help you. They'll tell you to go online rather than help you track a package on-site. And apparently, the storefront staff is supported by an even less capable delivery staff. Every missing package type of issue they blame on them, including mine. I was in there looking for a package that was attempted to deliver to my house while I was of course at work. I had my delivery slip and my ID, which you think would be enough to get my package. Nope. The guy searched in back for 5-10 minutes, came back and asked me if I knew what day they left me the slip. I couldn't remember exactly, it was about 2 weeks ago (I have a job so I can't get to the post office during the week). He searched again and came back saying that he couldn't find it because the postman didn't write a date or tracking number on the slip. The package is a Christmas gift from my parents, so no I didn't have the tracking number. I had to get to work so I left. I was already there for over a half hour so I didn't have any more time to wait while this guy digs around in the back looking for my package which has been sitting there for days. Walked out empty-handed. Very frustrating to say the least. Avoid this place at all cost. I'm going to tell my folks to mail any packages to my office. Even if I have to lug a 50lb box to Brooklyn on the subway, it would still be easier than dealing with this post office. Never again. It's such a widespread problem that US Post Offices are awful experiences. All over the country. Why does it have to be that way? Why do we have to put up with this incompetence? What has to happen for USPS to properly staff their offices? Another bail-out? Whatever it is, do it. read more

The USPS really needs to get their process in order! I waited over an hour in line to pickup a package from 9:03AM to 10:15 AM when there was only about 6 or 7 folks in head of me. I left without the package and with a headache because it was stuffy in there to boot. I witnessed arguments between two different customers and the postal service workers. walking in, i knew the line would be long. the post officers were efficient and kind, seeing as how EVERY person in front of me had an error with their package (ie, no one addressed their packages before arriving to the window???!!!). The man at the counter was so nice and really made my day. I wish this was my home PO, but it is the closest and the one I will be using the most. Went in there today for passports. I made an appointment a week ago so I went in and waited my turn to let them know I had an appointment. The place was packed btw as most post offices are so I already expected that. The lady that attended me was very helpful. I had to sign some papers and she had to put in information and all that and make sure everything was right. It took long but I was also expecting that. Then, this lady that was waiting in line started getting agitated because I was taking "too long" like it was my fault. She kept on and on and I tried to ignore it until I couldn't anymore so I let her know that I was in the process for passports. Well, she basically said I was lying because they didn't do that there and I went as far as to invite her over so she can see for herself or to just mind her business and to let me finish with mine. Yes, this place is seriously understaffed but it's not the employees who are the main problem. It's the customers that go there in total ignorance without doing some research first and ruining the day for the rest of the people there. read more

The staff member was incredible rude!! She barked at me and angrily complained when I didn't shut the window completely. Acted impatient and used her phone during our transaction! They have it set up like a prison, with plexiglass between the customer and the employee. You have to put your package in a little holding area. They also keep their supplies locked up behind the counter. This redeems itself a tiny bit by the nice customer there who told me where to get packaging tape and let me get back in line at the same spot. read more

Their mail carriers must be ridiculously lazy or absentminded because I still haven't seen a package that was ostensibly delivered three weeks ago and I have had three packages friends sent to me marked with "receptacle blocked, notice left" on the tracking when I can see other packages in the lobby of my building and there are NO notices to be seen. The service here is so spotty it really should be addressed. I never visit this post office but it was the only one In my area where you can make an appointment and apply for a passport. Once I entered the office I noticed the window for passports was closed. This was my first time applying for a passport so I wasn't experienced with the process. After waiting on the side for 10 minutes whiles agents was passing me with the look don't ask me no questions I decided to join the line to ask an agent. I told the agent at window 3 I have an appointment in 5 minutes and should I wait on the side to be called or make line again. He asked the agent at window 2 and she turned around with the rudest attitude and said she have to wait and rolled her eyes. I couldn't believe this is how you treat people and still didn't tell me if she will call me when she was ready. When 11:35 approached I went to window and asked her will I be call soon being she was not assisting a customer and she said don't be running up on my window giving me attitude. I said I watched you for 30 minutes and you was giving everybody attitude including me from the start. I asked her for her name which she refused and her supervisor just watched from the back. She keep going on running her mouth and I was already done with the unprofessionalism so I knew I had to file a complaint with the USPS because even though I will never visit this location again I feel bad for the people in the community that have no choice. read more

UPDATE: Things have improved! I went in last week to pick up a package (that again, I received no slip for, but hey, slow progress is better than no progress) and the line was short, there were 3 people working the windows, and the employee I spoke to was pleasant and surprisingly helpful. I was in and out in about 10 minutes with my package in tow. Which is obviously a personal record, if not an entire establishment one. I'd give 2.5 stars if I could, because not getting packages ever ever delivered to my door, and getting mail delivered to my neighbor's buildings is really annoying. But, I appreciate the improvement in service when I have to go pick everything up. 1/13/2014: 1 Star I don't understand how there is always always a line at this post office. Ive come when it opened, right before it closed, and any time in between, and there is always a nightmare line situation happening. If you live in the area like me and HAVE to pick up your packages here, be prepared to wait at least a half hr. read more

Worst post office I've ever been in my entire life I've been waiting for a package since January 8th, today is the 26th and that's the second time I'm going to this post office and have to wait half an hour in the line to leave with empty hands The website says that my package is available for pickup since yesterday 5:32 pm The website also says that I got a notice on Saturday morning which is the day where nobody was out because of the snowstorm, I didn't get any slip, of course. These people give the worst excuse for customer service I have ever seen. They are rude, incompetent, and arrogant. They continually cause problems for their customers, and then solve these problems by ignoring you. If you have a package coming, you better hope you're home to receive it. Even then, they often won't ring the bell, and may or may not leave a slip. If you complain about this, they just ignore you. If the package is brought back to the post office, god help you. You have a better chance of finding a unicorn, because the jerk offs that work here can barely find their left hands to shoo you away, let alone your package in the disorganized mess that they keep on a daily basis. Problem with receiving a mail again!!! I tried to call the post office about 28 times today. Phone line is ALWAYS busy. Their CS is horrible to be the worst I have seen and their CS phone is ALWAYS busy. My guess is that they put the phone on the side so that they can ignore all calls. the line is usually long, about a 20 minute wait (at the least) and there are 5 windows but only 2 (if that) windows that are open. but if you go early, it's not too bad. I haven't had any packages lost or any problems, they've been nice to me. it would help if if they have a drop-off bin for packages that already have postage, to save time. While there's a competition amongst NYC post offices to see who can be the worst, this one isn't. The employees are friendly and helpful. Missing 2 stars because there are 4 windows and only 3 of them are ever staffed, no matter what time of day or how long the line is. Inexistent customer service, no designated lines for different purposes (drop off/pick up) thus a one huge line, extra long wait, no self-service stations. The people are very friendly and helpful however there is no drop off for packages. I waited in line for 15 minutes to drop off a pre paid package which is very inconvenient. That's why I took off 1 star. Hopefully this post office creates a drop off section soon. read more

I have a PO Box here and love this post office. The employees are super helpful and take great care when handling my packages and parcels. I've send hundreds of things from here and all of which have made it to their destination. All in all a pleasant experience. Be courteous to them and it will go a long way. Everyone seems down on this place, like they have it in their heads it will be a bad time. Then they get there and just dump all their emotions on the USPS employees. It's a mail delivery service, not a visit to the psychotherapist's couch. Snap out of it and get your head clear and bright before you ship off some fowl moods. Yes, you might have to wait in line, and yes you might have to talk to people. But the experience really is pleasant and these people are here to help you!! read more

I don't think this place is as bad as others are saying. 2.5 would be my score, if half stars existed on yelp. It is a busy area, and centrally located to several trains and buses, so I understand it's going to be busy. I definitely ALWAYS have to wait in a long line, but the people who work there have never been rude to me, always friendly as I am to them. It's not great, but it gets the job done. I have had trouble with periodicals being delivered late to my home however which is a little annoying. No lost packages, as others are reporting. I think a things get lost before they ever reach this particular post office, which people need to think about. It's NOT the person working at the counter's fault, so be polite! They are often out of the prepaid envelopes and I have never ever seen a pen in there. Be prepared with your own stuff. The more prepared you are, the faster the line goes for everyone so don't be a jerk - figure stuff out before hand. read more

Im also not sure what all of the negativity is about. I use this post office to send international packages for work and I also get my mail sorted here. I love my mailman and everyone here, no matter the day of the week, has been super friendly and have offered additional services (scheduled pick up) so that I do not have to make the walk over during my work day. I would give zero stars if I could. I've been living in the Bushwick area and dealing with this post office for three years now. I'm not even going to go into the fact that this facility is in decrepit condition- missing ceiling tile, water damage, creaking ceiling fans, litter all over the floor...pretty disgusting stuff really. And you always walk out feeling worse than you did when you went in- maybe due to the conditions listed above, maybe due to the looooooooong line and slooooooooow, apathetic staff, maybe due to a combination of all of these factors. I've had packages stolen because carriers left them sitting out on the sidewalk, I've had packages lost in the system and sitting on trucks for days, I've had packages sitting in this post office without my knowledge because no notice of delivery attempt was left and no attempt to contact me was ever made. Recently I've had another incredibly ignorant and unprofessional experience with the staff at this post office, INCLUDING the 'supervisor,' and now it's time to Yelp about it. My wife had been waiting for a package sent from overseas which had some very important, time- sensitive documents in it. The package was sent express, and a premium fee was paid for it. A delivery attempt was supposedly made on the 2nd of the month. We didn't find out about it until the 8th. We didn't have access to the tracking number, and didn't gain access to it until we inquired with the sender. No delivery notice was left on our door or in our mailbox, no subsequent delivery attempts were made, and we received no phone calls to let us know that we could come and pick up the package. 6 days passed waiting and wondering before we got the tracking number from the sender, checked the status online, and saw that a delivery attempt had been made 6 days prior and the status hadn't been updated since! I went to the post office to inquire about the whereabouts of the package on my wife's behalf while she was at work. I took all of the needed ID, including my wife's, and mail with both of our names under the same address on it to prove that we live together. The lady behind the plastic window looked in the back room for a minute or two and found nothing. She came back to the window, gave my ID back to me, and....said nothing. Just stared at me. I had to say....sooooooo...???? And she said there's nothing there, threw her arms up in the air, and said 'what else do you want me to do?' Seriously. No solutions, no apology, no help, no next step. She said I could talk to the supervisor if I wanted to and that she's not a carrier, she just sits behind the window and she doesn't know where the package is. Two hours later I returned with my wife after work, and she provided the tracking number to a different lady behind a different plastic window. She walked to the back room, and came back about 5 seconds later with the package in her hands. I told her that I had been there two hours prior and the other lady said it wasn't here. She said it was sitting on a different table. I felt that it shouldn't matter because I had given proper ID and proof of address before, why couldn't they have checked BOTH tables? And I was subsequently asked if I worked there and if I knew how the tables were set up and that I needed to show more respect or that we weren't going to get the package. My wife was quite upset by the entire 6 plus day ordeal and lack of any care or concern by the two employees we dealt with, and asked to speak with the supervisor. Needless to say, things went downhill from there. The supervisor came out with a smirk on her face, did not care in the least that a few tax paying customers were not too pleased with the quality of service provided by government employed postal workers (social servants, right?), and proceeded to bring her coworkers into the conversation so they could laugh at us and belittle us and have each others backs. This 'supervisor' got to the point of questioning our marriage and why my wife is married to me, she called herself our 'marriage counselor' and laughed at us, another male employee came over and said to her 'he is who he is' (directed at me and my frustration with the situation), another employee asked from the back if she should call the police and have us removed, and the supervisor refused to apologize for the rude, apathetic service and mismanagement of the package delivery. And as we walked away in shock and disgust, the 'supervisor' repeatedly told us to 'have a nice day, have a nice day, have a nice day.' Like I said before, you always manage to walk out feeling worse than you did when you went in. I sincerely hope that this branch of the USPS is the next to be shuttered, as the ignorance, apathy, and selfishness of the staff and their supervisor goes far above anything that I've experienced before from government employees whom are supposed to provide a reliable service for us, the tax payers who pay for their salaries and benefits. read more
