I've never left a review on Yelp, and in fact, I only signed up so I could leave a review for this post office.
Basically, the Adelphi post office SUCKS!!! Everyone I've talked to there is a complete incompetent fool that refuses to do their job.
I have called USPS and the office of consumer affairs (not to mention the post office directly) many times in the past year, since I moved into my apartment in Prospect Heights. The problem I've been facing is that I do not receive my packages and no notices are EVER left. After this occurred once and my package was mysteriously "lost" because "I never picked it up" (um, am I a mind reader that is supposed to know based on intuition that they came by and left three imaginary notices, or am I supposed to call them every day to remind them to do the job they are being paid to do?), I realized that they update the track and confirm page online to claim that they "left a notice"... This is a LIE. They DO NOT leave notices, so there is no way to even find out if they "attempted" to deliver a package.
Additionally, many of the times they claim to have left notices, I have been at HOME, so they don't even ring the bell. (I work 7-3, so I am usually home by the time they come by at 4pm).
ALSO, there is a rental agent that is in the building every day from 10am until 7:30pm, and he receives packages from Fedex and UPS, and they never have an issue "not finding" him.
So, I have called USPS and filed several complaints. They never get back to me. I have called the post office itself and spoken to the supervisor (Ms. Rub...you know who you are). She never does anything either. This past week I called the office of consumer affairs. Guess what? She didn't do sh*t either (Yeah, Ms. Tho... I'm talking about you!)
So basically, either they're all in on it and NO ONE there wants to do their job (really, how hard is it to ring a doorbell or leave a note on a mailbox?!?), or else the driver is constantly lying to his supervisor and his supervisor's supervisor, and they're both too naive/stupid/incompetent to realize this.
It doesn't matter. I'm paying for a service that is not being done. I have never had this problem when I lived elsewhere in NY or anywhere else in the US. I've lived in third world countries that have better postal service than this crap-hole.
So, unfortunately I don't know what can be done about this. (Except hope that they all get fired and new people who are actually willing to do their job get employed here)... But venting here sure helped me more than slamming the phone on the office of consumer affairs did a few minutes ago. So thanks! read more
