Where do I start? My local postman sometimes shows up reeking of booze, or openly smoking pot, and sometimes loiters in my lobby getting into a screaming match with someone on his cell phone. They routinely mark items as "attempted delivery", even when you are home at that exact time and they have NOT left a notice, as they claim. Just too lazy to get out of the truck. To request a redelivery apparently just means, "Sit around at home waiting for a week, then having to go there in person anyway when they don't bother to actually redeliver it (despite a redelivery request confirmation)." I would sooner chew off my own leg then actually enter this place in person, which is a step below an ISIS death camp. This is a good place to meet the neighbors, because you all stand in line for an hour sharing horror stories about the place and trying to keep each other calm so you don't barge through the windows and do the mailing tasks yourself since the too-few employees behind the window clearly don't even know how to find a package. when i worked in brooklyn near atlantic ave i would got to this post office in the morning before work or after work before 6pm and i would also find meter parking outside which is a different story now. i was lucky cause many of the postal workers were customers at the store i worked at so it usually meant that it would be a stress free visit . it has changed at bit with new faces behind the retail counter and a few self service machines which i prefer . i stopped by to mail a package to alaska and line was long but moved well especially with 6 clerks working and moving better then a turtles speed . the lady clerk was really nice and knew what she was doing , was out in about 15 minutes , the line is starting to get really super long and folks are getting Pissed glad I am finished do its time to bounce . read more

In the past year I've lived in Crown Heights, 20+ packages have gotten stolen. I've had stuff get marked as delivered but still get stolen despite the fact that I was home the whole day. They just leave stuff sitting around so any passerby can get steal your stuff. I'm pretty sure the office itself steals packages as well, I've had packages small enough to fit in my mailbox get marked as delivered but never show up. In person they are just as bad, worst service ever. They're condescending as hell and make it evident that they don't give a shit about your packages. True story: got a pink slip for a package while I was home waiting for it. Went in with the slip on a Saturday at noon, employee told me to come back after 2, but I came back to find they close at 1. Hilarious. Now I'm back here on Tuesday, there are so many people crammed in here there there is no room to breathe or stand. Everyone is super pissed. Meanwhile the employees are visibly checking out each other's nails and generally goofing off while people are just trying to do their business and leave. I've been trying to get a birthday package to my brother since January 27th and to this date still hasn't been delivered! This package has been to three different states its started in Albany went to Long Island, Boston, New Jersey back to Albany then it went back to Flushing, to Brooklyn then back to Albany and finally its back in Brooklyn. So this package has taken just about a month to get to its destination. I can only imagine how beat up this package it, but now that it is finally where its supposed to be my brother goes to the location and they cant seem to find it he has gone to this two times and they cant seem to located it. SAME REVIEW: THIEVES!!!! This is the FOURTH time a large and expensive package has mysteriously been delivered but in actuality disappeared. After calling the main post office number (don't bother calling the local number--they pick up and hang up on you or send you directly to fax) and holding on this line for 50 minutes two separate times, I have been told we all need to open formal complaints with the USPS Consumer Affairs Division. Call 877-ask-usps and ask for customer service. It will be another hour of your life wasted due to the incompetence of this place but at least you can do it in the comfort of your home instead of hours spent at this hell hole. I went to this post office to find out whether or not they had a package of mine. It had been "in limbo" with no status updates or location given, and after contacting general postal customer service (who, by the way, were great even though their jobs must stink) twice, finally there was a status update. So I went into the post office hoping and praying they actually had the package. I was bracing myself because of postal lines and cranky clerks nationwide PLUS have you even read the reviews of this place? Enough to make me shudder. From stepping in the door to stepping out the door my total time on a Friday evening was 15:51 (yes, timed it). There were only 2 people in front of me - make of that what you will. The air conditioning was on point. Seriously. If I had to stand on line and sweat I might never have held it together. It was awesomely freezing in there. I was called before I could even update my instagram. The clerk was as shocked as I was at how my package had been in limbo and shipped around Brooklyn like no one's business. He doubted that the package would actually be there given the arrival time, however he said he would go check just in case. I appreciated that. Then, most surprisingly, he came back with my package (medication, thank you). This could have gone so wrong, but it turned out fine. Given past waits at post offices in NYC, 16 minutes is really nothing. The clerk was pleasant and did his job. So, 5 stars goes to him. Knocking off one star because, hello, the post office does not deliver any packages to us. Amazon better find a better way because USPS, in practice, does not deliver. So I am sure I will be back again to this post office, and another review will follow. *edit* The post office has since delivered several packages. Fingers crossed! P.S. I have nothing but disgust for this post office and its supervisory and managerial staff...Consistently we have asked for our mail not to be tossed under the stoop & they continue to do it...One supervisor lied and told us their was a signing hanging in our mailman work area & still the mail is not placed in the boxes up the stoop. I've never been TO this facility, but I am under its jurisdiction when it comes to the delivery of my mail and let me tell you, I never knew the USPS could be allowed to operate so diabolically. I never knew that simply NOT receiving very important items in the mail could happen. From insurance paper work, to replacement credit cards, to renewed drivers licenses, to plain old mail, I simply cannot trust this post office to deliver my mail. I've lived on this earth for 30 years, and before now I never thought I'd say that I couldn't trust the post office. The distribution of mail is a complex one that has been perfected over the past 2 centuries, and yet this location manages to somehow disregard all of the progress we've made. It has become so bad that I just have things that I know I'm going to need to my work address in Manhattan. Additionally, on any given day I can receive any person's mail from anywhere. It's not like it's a simple mistake of the same address number but different street. My street number is 148, but I'm receiving mail from 256 xyz street. Someone needs to do something about these people. I have called them on it and they assure me that it has been dealt with. I was quite disappointed during my last visit. I had to mail a package immediately and knew that I could rely on my branch. I was quite mistaken. I stopped by at 9am and waited on line when I began hearing announcements that their credit/debit machine was not functioning properly. I thought I would be fine, because I planned pay for certified mail with cash. It wasn't until I was the next customer when USPS employees decided their system difficulties would force them to shut down operations. I can understand refusing card transactions, but cash too? All of the customers had to head over to another nearby location to complete our orders. I was not happy and must say that I do not fully accept the excuse that the computer systems were failing because of Hurricane Sandy which occurred one month ago. USPS needs to step it up if they're going to avoid bankruptcy. read more

The fucking worst!! There is this guy that's always there when I go in and I always seem get the pleasure of him servicing me ::sarcasm:: (Will update with his name if I ever go back) He always has an attitude. He doesn't greet you at all. I'm a customer service worker and I'm a stickler for good customer service and he isn't personable at all. He must really hate his job but as a customer that has nothing to do with me especially if I'm being polite and haven't given you a reason to have an attitude with me. While I was at the post office today he practically yelled at the guy in front of me because he began walking up to the window as soon as the previous customer left. He got on his microphone and said "I didn't ring the bell so you have wait". That could have been said in a different way and certainly without the attitude and borderline yelling. I felt bad for the guy because I was speaking with him because he asked me for some help, he was not from the US and it was his first time at USPS. Another thing that is ridiculous is that on a Monday morning they have Mr. Attitude working in there alone. Come on. He needs some people skills. If he hates his job so much he's welcomed to quit. The only reason I go here is because it's close and I can always get parking right in front. I'm usually mailing heavy packages and this post office is the most convenient. If i could rate this place with no stars i definitely would. This places staff are beyond incompetent and rude and guess what?.. They couldn't care less. I hate that I even have to bother with them. I called a total of 50 times today and after the 1st 15 calls they possibly took the phone of the hook because the line was busy. I have a hard time believing the line was busy because they finally answered a call. So fast forward to my 51st call I explain I need a passport and i need to make an appointment and with the biggest attitude he tells me im calling the wrong number he says the number super fast and before i could ask another question *click* and hangs up. Just got a letter in the mail from the Passport Center claiming that I filled out the wrong paper work. They sent the correct forms, which are the exact forms I had originally brought with me to the p.o., in which the postal worker refused to take as he claimed they were the wrong forms. I usually don't have much of an issue here, but the apathetic response I received when I complained that checks that I mailed on the same day through a mail box on Nostrand Ave. never got where they were going, was really annoying. Up to this point I really never had to deal with the post office as I usually don't much business with them. Late last year, I started to receive correspondence out of Chicago to Brooklyn once a month as a homeowner. To my surprise, the first two letters mailed to me disappeared, I mean vanished as if it was never mailed. Once I reported it to the post office I was told it was the sender's fault as they are very professional, which explain why every mail delivery we receive numerous mail that have been delivered at the wrong address. In order to see what happened, I requested that this piece of mail i receive monthly be certified so I can track it. The first time we tried the certified mail it took a week to get my mail delivered and that was a miracle as my mail showed the afternoon of the day i showed up there to complain. The following month, it took over a week to get it delivered. This month, my mail arrived on June 6, process and was out for delivery on june 7, and you guessed right, it was never delivered. So I decided to stop by the post office to see what was the hold up, guess what they can't find certified mail. Bravo USPS, I see why you are such a well ran business. as stated by others on this medium, really do all of us a favor and close all your facilities, the pony express did a better job in the 1800's... I am not even going to comment on the lack of professional responsibility and the workers not knowing that they are in the service business and that the clients are paying for a supposedly service. what a pity. read more

I have never reviewed anything in my life, but this place is so rage-inducing that you need to write it down just to get it out of your system. Out of the last 10 or so packages that were supposed to be delivered through USPS, I've maybe actually gotten 3 of them. it doesn't matter if you try to schedule a redelivery, it just won't ever happen. Ever. It's hard to even call it a redelivery, since they didn't even try to deliver it in the first place. They don't even have the package in the truck and don't leave a note, but just mark it down as unable to be delivered so it just rots somewhere in the back of the post office until they eventually just send it back to Amazon or wherever. This post office needs to just be dismantled brick by brick and have the Earth salted where it stood so that nothing else can ever grow there. read more

This is by far the absolute worst post office. I have had, in the last 2 months, 5 packages 'returned to sender' because this post office says there was no one home to accept the package. Thing is- I know someone was home because I was there all day each time this happened. They don't even leave a deliver attempt slip, so I cannot go pick it up without being given horrible attitude from the staff who say, "You have to have a slip to pick up a package." So awful. I get an email saying that they left a 'sorry we missed you slip' but there was nothing there and I was home. This has to be the worst post office of all usps post offices. The people are slow and the office is either understaffed or everyone is always on break because there is almost always only one or two lines open and I always have to wait one hour plus to pick up a package. That's another thing. Half the time there are no delivery attempts made! If they are made then they don't leave a notice so how would I know a delivery attempt was made! They are actually the WORST post office I have every had to deal with. This review is long overdue because I have never had a positive experience with them. First off, I work from home, so I am basically home 24/7. Yet every single time I have a package that needs to be delivered by USPS, they always leave a notice because "I wasn't home". Let me also note the fact that when someone buzzes downstairs, it rings directly to my cellphone so I have my phone as proof that they have never buzzed me for a package. I understand not wanting to come up the elevator (no I don't understand that actually. Your job is to deliver and you don't want to come up the elevator?) but at least Buzz me to come downstairs! On top of that, even if my package says "Leave if no answer" they will not leave the package. CAN YOU NOT READ THE INSTRUCTIONS? This happens every single time! Any time I have scheduled for a redelivery, they don't even attempt to redeliver. Instead they just wait until the date to send it back to the shipper. Anyway this review is finally coming because today I caught our mail person in the act. She entered the building without a package and simply just left the "sorry we missed you, please pick up your package" notice in the person's mailbox. Which would explain why they never leave my package. She never picks it up. Just write the notice and calls it a day. It's frustrating because I just moved to this neighborhood and I love it, aside for the fact that I now have to be prepared to pick up every package from the post office because they will never deliver it. For a couple of items I just had it redelivered via Fed Ex or UPS (who coincidentally never have an issue leaving the package, or getting into the building and always find me home, even on the same day & hour USPS said I wasn't home) but unfortunately this option isn't available for all of my shipments. read more
