This was the closest post office that I could get to before 5 and I regret rushing over here. The end of the line starts at teller windows, blocks the front door and the snakes all the way around the office. The postal workers are just doing their job so if you arrive a second past 5:00 pm they have the key in the door and you have to wait for them to open it to let you out. I wish there would be more to service the community. For such a large neighborhood you'd hope that every window would be utilized. I wouldn't come here unless it were your only option and you have a lot of time to wait. read more

I mean, I get it, it's a Post Office. Of course it'll be slow and unfriendly. I'm an adult. I thought I knew what I was getting myself into when I got in line outside at 8:50 behind many other hopefuls. But by 9:30, the line had only moved because half of the people had left it to get to work on time (or because they couldn't take the 110 degree heat, which was not at all mitigated by the tiny fan on the ceiling). A more conspiracy-minded individual might wonder if they're turning on the radiators to drive people away, but I suspect they enjoy torturing those foolish enough to enter. The manager came out and said that the systems were down, which would have been great to know that before we waited all that time. Then they yelled at some people in line who were complaining that they should be patient or go to another office. When the person in front of me got to the window, I overheard the worker saying that they didn't know what the manager was saying, and their system wasn't down. I doubt we'll ever know the truth. When I got to the window, nearly an hour after I arrived, I was told that there was an issue with my prepaid label. The worker said I could buy a second label, and all I could do was laugh. Perhaps it's my stubborn side, but no way in hell (and I truly was in the ninth circle) was I paying ANOTHER $20. I left and vowed to never return. But maybe if you're a masochist, this could be the place for you? read more

This has nothing to do with the workers. They've always been kind and it's even harder to service customers during a pandemic so have patience. You'll need it to wait over an hour for your package pick up, even if you go before they open. That's what I did. They have horrible reviews. I get it! No one likes to wait but waiting is apart of life. If we based reviews off of waiting everyone would have crappy reviews. They are working at limited services for social distancing purposes. Don't go angry! Pee before you have the house. Maybe have a yogurt! Lol go with time on your hands. What I'm not happy about it having to pick this package up in the first place when I was home yet somehow 'missed' the delivery. But that's a conversation for USPS as a whole. This is by far the worst post office I have ever been to. What's the point of phones if NO ONE EVER ANSWERS. Twice now, I've had packages not get re-delivered and had to go pick it up myself even after scheduling re-delivery. I tried to call in to figure out if it's still there for me to pick up or if it's on the truck for delivery, but the phones just ring and ring. When you eventually do go in, prepare to wait for an hour minimum since the line wraps around the place... Seriously, everything about this place is a hot mess.. This is by far the worst post office I have ever attempted to go to and yes you heard me correct attempted. I attempted to bring a package in on a Monday 1/9 night at 4:55 p.m. when they are supposed to be open till 5 p.m. and once I arrived a woman with a cane promptly slammed the door in my face and the face of a very old women and refused us service when we arrived before they were supposed to close. Then again I attempted to go at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday 1/10 and they had a sign on the door stating that they had an "emergency" and wouldn't be back until 1 p.m. I work full-time a 9-5 and even when coming during the day they weren't avail e to actually help anyone. Workers at a US post office are paid for by tax payers dollars meaning they need to be available to help people during normal business hours. Management needs to properly staff the building so there is coverage when "emergencies" pop up. I can only assume said emergency was lunch related. I've had great experiences at the Flatbush post office, which was shocking to me after my previous encounters at post offices in the East Village. The clerks are friendly and nonjudgmental. They're also adequately stocked, which hasn't been my experience with most Manhattan POs (other than Cooper Square). Because of quarantine, it can be a long wait outside, but it's bearable. I usually have nothing nice to say about post offices. Not because I don't understand the bureaucracy that goes into it, but because I feel like the system falls in on itself but I digress. I used to live by the Empire Post Office, and boy was like second hell. In comparison, I found this one to be clean and actually had a semblance of order. Where so I start. The customer service was horrific. I had an issue with a package which I requested a redelivery that was never delivered. I requested to speak with a supervisor and an unkempt gentlemen came to the door and rudely said "WHAT IS THE ISSUE". I explained the issue and he then said "I am not the supervisor". I then went to the window AFTER STANDING IN LINE and asked again for a manager. The lady at the window said I'm the manager and I dont have time to talk to you because I have a line. To remind you I stood on the line to speak the this individual at the window and she "Melissa" said step to the side until she is ready. Another individual came out and a couple of minutes after and told me that if I want to talk to someone i need to call the 1800 number one the slip. After talking to 3 untidy and rude workers I still did not receive my package. And when I asked the "manager" for names she stated why dont you just get the names of the whole station. Package pick up line is really long, often out the door any day any time. Often, I've stayed home all day waiting for the package and it never comes, I'm left no notice, and have to track it down here. People's frustration of this place are NOT entitlement issues. It's one small post office covering a very large area and it's clearly not getting anywhere near the resources it needs. Everyone in this line is paying their fair share of taxes too and deserve a decent post office. Never have any issues with the USPS near my office in a wealthy Manhattan area. Maybe look into what "entitlement" means before you critique an underserved lower income area. UPDATE: My postman left a slip in my mailbox AFTER I picked up my package! I wonder if they talked to him about it and tried to cover his tracks. This continues to be a system that is really hard to trust. PS USPS is not funded by tax dollars people. Wow. Shout out to Ms. Edwards!!! The rudest PO employee I've come across in a while! Of course you take the good with the bad here. I usually stand in line at 7:45 so I can be 3rd or 4th to get inside. This time I came a little later and....omg, the Post Office was EMPTY!!! I heard an employee ring a bell and proceeded over to her station. Just then a woman with a large cart needed to go out the same way I came in, so I let her pass. The entire time the PO employee KEPT RINGING THE BELL. Nonstop. She even rang it when I was at the window. I just needed a receipt and she said I should have mailed it the day before (stupid PO stuff). I was airing my grievances to which she got ruder and handed me my receipt and told me to have a nice day. What a loser. People have control and power issues and she is one of them. She continued to say things and when I asked to make sure I had enough postage she told me to have a nice day again. Over and over. I walked away and I heard her say "Oh, you got one more thing to say?", to which I walked back and told her she shouldn't take grievances about the Post Office personal ( it's not like I was complaining, and you aren't the owner of the Post Office, sorry). Worst PO I've ever been to... I mean, I'm reviewing it! That's nuts! The employees yell at everyone and make you feel like no matter what you're doing - you're a problem. I hate to say it, but it seems to just be the women working there who do this. It literally pains me to say that, but that's my experience. I hope someone in the upper management checks out Yelp. So far nothing changed after all my complains. Carriers DO NOT deliver items to your apartment door. They leave packages unattended on the first floor or leave a pink note that they were not able to deliver when I specifically stay home to receive my packages. I wish we could choose delivery service when we order online, I would use FedEx only. When I was at the post office picking up my package, most people were complaining that they were home but still got the pink slip. The line to pick up packagies is extremely long because packages don't get delivered. We need to all get together and complain! This post office, and the carriers that they employ, are horrible. They've lost so much mail of mine that I implore everyone that I need to correspond with to utilize FedEx or UPS instead. My latest unfortunate interaction with them consisted of the postal carrier giving me everyone's mail for the building, and then telling me that the package that I was expecting was given to "2 guys on the corner". Sounds crazy, I know. But, it happened. If you have the unfortunate luck of being served by this post office, you will realize that mail delivery is a miracle here. Compared to my post office off empire blvd this place is heaven. My previous apartment was serviced by this post office and they never lost a single package, everything got to me on time and the mail lady and the clerks that work there and help me once or twice a month when I go there are extremely nice and helpful. Again, my new post office is hell on earth with the most rude manager. I haven't noticed the line moving slow here and every time I go I don't spend more than 20 minutes whether that's on the weekend or a weekday. If you feel like spending your day in a purgatory-like setting, melting in the heat of a thousand suns, standing endlessly in a line that hasn't moved in at least a decade, then this is the place for you! However, if you prefer getting your packages delivered on time to your home, your mail properly placed in your mail box, and customer service representatives that say things like "Please" and "Thank you" and "Have a nice day," you are in the wrong place entirely. I've lived in this area for over two years and, unless I am at home all day from 5am to 9pm, I usually miss my deliveries. Heck, even when I am home I miss my deliveries because most of the mail carriers have yet to evolve enough to discover the thing we commonly refer to as a "doorbell". So, I head down to the Church Avenue Post Office to get what wasn't delivered, and I discover that my entire neighbourhood has also not received their packages and are waiting in line before me. The ENTIRE neighbourhood. At the package pick-up line, which is almost completely indiscernible from the other two lines except for its obvious length, Funkqueesha stands behind the security glass FAR too busy filing her nails or texting her bff to spend enough time helping anyone without saying things such as "Well, what I gonna do?" and "I aint gots no ideas". Or, the ever beloved "NEEEEEXT!" If my package is there and not left on a truck or returned to the sender, I can lug it home, contradicting the exact purpose of ordering items online. Now, if you need to SEND a package there is a small chance you might be smiled at. It could be from a creeper in the package pick-up line, but, if you're lucky enough to not be in that line you may get a mumbled "Have a nice day" from an actual USPS representative. If you are buying stamps you should be at a Duane Reade or the postal supply place next door; Why on earth would you enter this desolate wasteland only for stamps!?! I would suggest bringing a book to read while you wait but the lighting in this building has the odd effect of turning all words written in books into the repeated sentence: YOU WILL DIE HERE, or something along the lines of how miserable everything is, causing you to feel that your soul has been or is currently being sucked out from within. The best part about this post office, you know, besides its lack of air conditioning, lack of supplies, lack of self-service machines, lack of ambiance, lack of dignity, lack of pleasant scents, lack of recent cleaning, is that, after arriving at about noon, you might get out the door into some fresh air and back with the living and soul-filled humans of earth by, say, dusk... or, maybe not. read more

This post office is unbelievable. As in- I cannot believe that it actually managed a two-star rating on Yelp. As in- I feel bad giving it one star because someone someday might see a star and think "how bad can it be? It has a star." This place is a nightmare and a complete mess. As others have mentioned, I've had "delivery attempts" happen wherein they don't bother ringing the buzzer. I've had "delivery attempts" where they don't leave a slip, and I find out about it through online tracking a few days later. These things I classify under "normal Post Office incompetence". Recently, however, this place has gotten a whole, whole lot worse. I had something shipped to me by priority two-day mail. It has now been a month and I still haven't laid eyes on the package. After the initial attempt, I went to the office on a Saturday to pick it up (BIG MISTAKE). I ended up standing in line for, no joke, an HOUR. And when I got to the front of the line? THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHERE MY PACKAGE WAS. When I tried to figure out where it was, if it was on a truck, etc, the employee basically shrugged and said "We can't find it. Write down your info and we'll call you." Further inquiries as to how it could have been misplaced were met with additional shrugs. Of course, there was no phone call. There were no additional attempts, so it surely wasn't on a truck. I scheduled for it to be redelivered on a specific date, after which I would be out of the country. Of course, it came the next day, when I was out of the country. And of course there was no postal slip, and I had to find out about the attempt days later through online tracking. Also, the letter carrier they have newly assigned to my building is a miracle of ineptitude. Somehow this person doesn't know how apartment numbers work, and seems to just throw mail into random mailboxes. Sometimes it's mine; sometimes it's for an apartment on another floor on the other side of the building. The building has resorted to putting all mail on the top of the boxes and sorting out our mail ourselves. It's honestly an impressive level of incompetence. You wonder, "how did they get this far?" It's unanswerable. So, my essential recommendation for you is this: Do everything in your power to never, ever, never interact with this post office at all ever ever. Never. Not even once. read more

I've been coming to this Post Office for 4 years now, not voluntarily of course. Seeing the pink slip in the mail box gives me an instant bowel movement!!! The waiting time for pick-ups is no less than 30 minutes. One time I had a pre-paid package to just drop off. It was slightly bigger than the blue bin so I had to give it to one of the representatives. After waiting 45 minutes in the pick up line, I hand in my pink slip. The employee goes away to search for the package, in the mean time, the money orders line was empty (pick-up line all the way to the back wall). I asked the money order guy if he could drop my pre-paid box in the basket and he replied "You have to make that other line". I told him that I had been in line in 45 minutes and that all I was asking is that he could drop it in the basket NEXT TO HIM. He was super rude and said "I don't care, not my problem". The manager was nowhere to be found of course. Speaking of the manager, this man should be FIRED 3 years ago. He is completely USELESS. He hides behind the manager's office, which 90% of the time says CLOSED. One time I had a customer cut me in line, and then told me to mind my own business. I called the manager and he didn't do anything to solve the issue. Regardless of what time or day you come to this place, the service and waiting time is the same. I've tried all times of the day, and different days for the past 4 years. The most frustrating thing is to see the mailing line employees play on their iphone, sitting back, while the pick-up line extends all the way to back wall. I can tell you the puerto rican lady has done this several times. Also the asian man just stays there pretending to do something. The big muscled african american guy in the stamps and money orders is an incompetent BULLY!!! There's another african american girl (chubby / most of them are really skinny), she has the sassiest mouth in Flatbush. How do these people keep their jobs????? HOW!!!??!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!??????????? The post office has signs all over place saying YOUR OPINION COUNTS, you can only give you opinion if you purchase something. This post office is the worst. I witnessed the (I'm assuming the manager) walkout the backroom to a packed post office did not great anyone. Went to the do and when a woman asked if she can come is said to her "if you ant to kill yourself go ahead." ( referring to distancing due to COVID). He only came out to give someone he knew passport forms handled them into the already crowded post office. I have never witnessed anything like this from a government agency. read more
