Unfortunately on Thanksgiving Day, there was a fire in our building :-( Thank you to the Red Cross who came through in record time and sheltered us as we had to vacate. Nothing beats your own space, but their assistance to tenants throughout this ordeal and housing us at hotels throughout the city is indeed appreciated. They say in your hour of need you'll know who your friends are. I have the most amazing friends! From my pals who I'm able to live with until things get sorted, those who came through last minute to retrieve my belongings from my flat (which thankfully wasn't affected except for smoke and a drizzle of water), to my Yelp-Mates who continue checking in, making sure I'm okay. I feel sooooo soooo SO incredibly BLESSED. All of that to say I wasn't in the headspace to come here, to THIS Post Office to pick up mail and other business AFTER READING THE TERRIFYING REVIEWS ONLINE. The Lord was with me. EVERYONE I interacted with here was extremely graceful! From the time I said the address they knew of the situation and were so kind and compassionate. Truth be told, from the level of service I received and the other customer staff interactions I noticed, great service seems to be the motto. Maybe staff from those reviews is no longer here? Good Day All, I was checking the USPS app to see when a package is supposed to arrive. I have to do that alot for this particular post office. My package was out for delivery yesterday @ 8:12 am. When i checked again @ 4:21 pm it has a "Delivery Exception Local Weather Delay" so I know this means my package was stolen or a Postal truck was robbed like a was told the last time. It's a shame how you can't rely on the post office to deliver your mail in a timely manner w/o it being stolen. The PostMaster General needs to do a thorough investigation and clean up of this Facility. I'm quite sure I'm not the only that feels this way. Not what you want to read if you're hoping to actually receive your package. Take a deep breath for this one....are you ready? Unfortunately, what the bad reviews say about this post office seem to be true. Pay whatever extra is necessary to use another carrier delivery method- save yourself the headache. In the image provided, I am tracking a package that was expected to be delivered by the end of today. The mailman states yesterday that a notice was left at the residence due to there not being a secure place to deliver it. I can understand if this was true, however they lied about leaving any kind of notice. Was it blown away by the wind maybe? No, that doesn't seem right as there was nothing around the area and the weather was warm and tame. It was just never left, and according to my visit to the post office- the package is not at the facility either. Then the tracking system claimed to have successfully delivered the package a day later (today) -somehow there's a secure place to mail it now?- and I'm not surprised that there was no package in/at the mailbox as they stated when I arrived home. They are constantly falsifying package updates and I don't know why. The customer service at the facility (because yes, now I have to stop my day and physically visit the place because they can't do what I've paid them them to do) was quick and they looked for my package, however all they could tell me was that high profile theft cases are becoming increasingly more common. They clearly have absolutely no idea what my package is, which is ridiculous. I have been visiting this post office for 10 years. I suffer every time I have to go. It is horrible for a couple of reasons, 1) waiting time is always 25 to 30 m ( no matter how many people are head of you. Two people ahead of you 25 minutes, 5 people still 40m 2) roaches and trash on the floor 3) clerks never in a hurry 4) lost packages, every time I go there is someone going through some drama I advise to visit another post office. I am not familiar with the one at Restoration Plaza but I am willing to give it a try. It got to be better than this one. read more

This post office is the absolute worst. It's only 1 block away from my house and I'd rather travel to a further location to get serviced. They're ridiculously slow when shipping your packages. It's happened not once but twice where they shipped a package 1-2 weeks after I dropped it off. I paid for 2-3 day shipping and it took 3 weeks for a large envelop to be delivered to a Manhattan address, I'm in Bk! There's no urgency with them, so beware. read more

The absolute WORST!!! Packages are NEVER delivered on time or at all. No help when you call the facility and when you there the lack of professionalism and the high amount of attitude for them to do the most basic parts of their job is insane. Today the delivery person marked my tracking as "Attempted to deliver" please see the notice. .. N.Y is still under quarantine which mean EVERYONE IS IN THEIR HOME. Went to the Post Office to pick up a certified letter this morning after requesting they redeliver it twice this week. They failed to redeliver on Wednesday and then failed to redeliver on Friday, so I decided to go in person. And you can only guess what happened, they told me after an hour that since I requested it to be redelivered, it was with a carrier who was searching his truck for my certified letter. They lost it. Never, ever have something certified delivered to anyone in the 11213 zip code cuz chances are, the package will get "lost" And everyone on Yelp or google reviews complaining about this Post Office should file a formal complaint with the Post Master General and Congresswoman Yvette Clark. This service is unacceptable and would not be tolerated on the Upper East Side or any other wealthy zip code, we shouldn't tolerate it either. read more

Typically I write reviews to share with others about great experiences that I encounter. However this review is different. This review is to expose the DISGUSTING, DISRESPECTFUL and UNPROFESSIONAL "workers" at the St. John's post office (and I use the term workers VERY lightly). I shipped a return package at this post office on 10/2/20 and as of 10/15/20 the package was still in that post office. But Why? I bypassed the line because I didn't think it was necessary to stand in an extremely long line of customers to simply ask a question. The teller informed me that I needed to talk to a supervisor and not her. I waited for a supervisor but got impatient after waiting about 10 minutes while watching a group of people congregate and converse behind the glass while the line continued to grow even longer. I asked for the supervisor again and was told by the same teller (with an attitude) that the supervisor was already called and there was nothing that she could do. At this point I'm upset and told the worker I am not leaving the front of her window until the supervisor came. Immediately one of the women who was congregating and conversing came to help me. This bothered me because she could have helped me minutes ago but only helped me because I had become "difficult" and I did tell her this. Well , who told me to say that? This lady got extremely upset and told me that she didn't have to help me she was doing me a favor because the supervisor was busy. When I asked her for her name to report her, she told me "my name is whatever you want to call me" and then told me to "shut up" after I told her she was unprofessional. At this point I am livid! I then go back in front of the teller and once again tells her I am not leaving until I am helped because I am here because an error made on the post office's end. She refused to help me (once again) and shortly after the supervisor comes. I explain to her the situation, she takes my receipt with my tracking number and informs me that the package was shipped off though the post office forgot to scan the item. BULL SHIT. We go back and forth on the validity of her answer until I realize conversing with her is like beating a dead horse. I ask for her name because had made up my mind that I was going to make a report. She tells me that her name is Jess Miller. I then ask her for the workers name who told me to "shut up". She refused to give me the "workers" and tells me that the lady who told me to shut up is the manager .... at this point I'm BAFFLED and believe that this whole experience has to be a sick joke ... I question both of their customer service skills and Jess tells me that it was the managers right to tell me to "shut up" especially if I was being irate (in which I wasn't. Difficult yes, irate ... no.) i later found out the manager's name is Roxanne. Someone behind the window co-signs that I was being an "irate" customer and was laughing at the situation in which I commented to Jess that the worker was also being unprofessional and not making the situation better for anyone. She then tells me that the woman doesn't even work there. Listen at this point ... they just need to throw the whole post office away... because it serves no purpose. I'd rather eat glass than go back to that post office. The manager should be demoted ... and the "workers" retrained. Waste of citizens money. read more

There will always be people who are confused, unprepared, and stressed out. If you go in to the experience knowing these things, shipping can be easy for you. Only once did I get a positive experience by someone who worked there and it was not in relation to my getting my packages. Always a line here and never enough employees to handle. Today there are 12 people waiting for help and only one person at the window for pickup and one for mailing. Neither is moving and it seems a bit poorly managed. 41 one star reviews should signal that there is a problem. While I understand that it is a tough job with a lot going on, there is an air of not caring and picking up a package that never had a pink slip delivered with it shouldn't take 27 minutes. I don't understand why this place exists when they don't do their jobs. I had a plant shipped from Florida via Priority Mail. On the day it was due to be delivered, I saw the delivery truck dropping off packages a few buildings away so I figured mine will arrive in a few minutes. NOPE. I check my tracking after 10 minutes and it's marked as "attempted to deliver but driver couldn't reach [my] mailbox". In the driver's defense, there could've been a car blocking the fire hydrant or something so he couldn't park and get out to drop off packages. But shouldn't he still leave a slip? I was worried that the plant would die if left in a box for much longer, so the next day I called the general USPS phone number early in the morning. The woman I spoke to was helpful and told me my package is set to redeliver that day between 8-5pm, and also gave me my local post office's phone number. All in all I called this post office 18 times throughout the day. The phone just rang continuously 11 times, was busy 5 times, and someone picked up twice. Both times she immediately put me on hold and never came back (I hung up after 5 minutes because I needed to get back to work). Meanwhile, my tracking info never once updated from the day before. As I write this, it's 7:10pm on the day after my package was originally supposed to be delivered. I doubt my plant is alive now. What was the point in me paying for Priority shipping if they weren't going to prioritize my damn package? Update (3/14/19): My package finally arrived last night, TWO WEEKS after it was originally supposed to arrive. And miraculously my plant is alive and healthy. read more

Someone is always available in my home because I work the midnight shift, my kids are doing remote learning, and my elderly father-in-law is here as well. The delivery person frequently lies about attempts to deliver packages without ever ringing the bell. I inconveniently wind up having to wait on a long line to retrieve it at the post office. I've also had packages "lost" in their care or claimed to have been delivered and they never came. I have a camera in front of my door which also has full view of the lobby and front door of my building which is how I know for sure they are lying. This is by far the worst post office ever. This is the worst post office I've ever dealt with. The lines are long. The post office clerks are rude, snarky, lazy, unprofessional and downright DISGUSTING. They have zero customer service skills and do not bother at all to deliver packages or look for packages. I've asked to speak to the supervisor today and the clerk told me that she was and was even ruder and a liar. I suspect they are stealing my packages. I've had many of my packages gone missing. They leave slips at my door and when I go pick up my package, they claim it's not there. Meanwhile the merchants do not give me refund AND the postal workers claim they are delivering my packages and they are not. I've even called the 800 number and they've told me that my packages are not being deliverered and are at the post office which is what makes me believe that the postal workers at 1234 St John's Place are stealing my packages. This is completely wrong. This post office need to be SHUT DOWN. Something really needs to be done about those postal service workers and clerks. They are all absolutely ridiculous. Awful service and the folks who deliver packages are unreliable and the folks who work the counters couldn't give two f ucks. I was at home waiting for a package to be delivered. The regular mail was delivered and still no package. I checked the tracking online and it said that the package had been left on my doorstep. Nothing on the doorstep. I was a bit frantic because it was a vintage item and I don't think the person who shipped it bought insurance. I knocked on my neighbours doors and no one had the package. Next morning I went to the post office, waited in a ridiculously long line and asked to speak with a manager. While I was waiting I also kept calling the post office in case the person answering the phones would be more efficient. Either the phone would ring so long that Verizon disconnected the call or someone would pick up the receiver and hang up. After waiting about 20 minutes a manager came to the window. She told me she was in a meeting and that's why I took so long, but I heard other usps workers say talking about how the manager hadn't arrived yet. I showed her a screen shot of the tracking information and explained that nothing was left for me. I also mentioned that no one picked up the phone when I called the PO, and she said that person running late. After about another 30 minutes of looking she found the package. She made up an excuse for the delivery person, but I wasn't having it. I got his name and filed a complaint. Nothing happened and no follow up from usps. Including the walk to/from the PO, and all the waiting, I wasted 90 minutes of my day. When I need to mail anything I only use post offices in Manhattan where there are a lot of businesses. It's now January 3, 2020 and my mail for coned, national grid, water bill and most important my mortgage bills I have not received them yet. I will get late fees!! Are they going to pay them? I've been to a lot of Post Offices in New York City. Many have extremely high demand and generally are terrible places to be in. If you need to send something or to purchase supplies, you have to deal with lines usually, but they tend to be alright. However, if you've missed a package and have to go to the Post Office to pick it up, I'm sorry. The location at St. Johns is horrendous for this reason. If you have to go in the morning or during the middle of the day, you should plan to be there an hour at minimum. There are always long lines for picking up packages and the staff are extremely disinterested in getting people in and out. If you have flexibility, I suggest arriving 10 minutes before close. While I avoid the post office here at all costs, they hate delivering packages to me apparently, so I find myself holding that yellow slip more often than I would like. In my many trips, I've noticed that they are purposefully slow for the majority of the day, but when it gets close to closing time, they will become the most efficient staff of all time. Additionally, if you happen to need to pick-up a package for someone else, the instructions on the slip are not sufficient for this ultra-cautious staff. You will need the recipient's identification in order to pick-up a package for them, not just their signature on the back of the slip. You will also need your ID, but I'm sure you'll have that. Deserves zero stars. I tried to call several times about a package for my customer with an "alert" status. No one wanted to look for it or make any real effort. I was told to call back in a couple of hours after she claimed she'd call the delivery driver. I called back an hour later and I was rudely told "We're closed NOW!" Been in this neighborhood 40 yrs and this station remains the worst. They refuse to deliver packages, write all kinds of lies describing why package is not delivered, and there is no one to turn to for resolution. FedEx and UPS can deliver their packages with no problem, but USPS, not so. As if watching out for the thieves who stalk the neighborhood isn't enough headache. Today, the carrier's entry states he left my package in my mailbox. I don't have a mailbox and if i did the package would not have fit in it. Yesterday, the carrier's entry stated my front door/driveway was not accessible. I have no driveway and I have two front doors, one downstairs and one upstairs, and both are directly accessible to the street. So after two days of false answers to why I don't have my package I must go to that horrible station to inquire. Can someone please tell me how I can request that USPS do not pick up from merchants sending orders to my address. Bottom line? All the bad reviews are true. The lines are long, the workers begrudgingly assist you, and catching a glimpse of the backroom is like getting a peek into a hoarder's home. But all that said, at the end of the day, you still get what you went there for. There are two different lines. One is for picking up packages. Make sure to have your slip and ID, although the worker helped me even though I never got a slip from my mail carrier. The other, longer line is for the rest of the USPS services. You definitely need to allot more time than you think you need when you go here. I will say I think I am luckier than the other reviewers since I haven't experienced some of the problems they have! read more

My 15 yr. old grandson's birthday package was marked "undeliverable as addressed" by this post office. There was no mistake on my part in addressing the envelope or sending it first class with insurance. The USPS tracking system simply stops working when my package reached this post office on St. John's Place on May 4, 2017 and hasn't been seen or accounted for since. It was not scanned and no one is taking responsibility except to say "I don't know what happened to your package but we'll call you, email or text you with an update." Incompetence and unreliable service prevails at this Post Office location. Guaranteed stressful experience should you decide to waste your day going to them for ANY reason. Scheduled pickups are ignored EVERY TIME. They never deliver packages or mail in the correct mailboxes. Packages are damaged.
