Yesterday I went to the post office . The clerk was on comic. relief. A precious customer left a bag filled with empty bottles on the floor. She said she saw someone out there doing something strange. I suggested she tell the postal master about this. She said "the post master doesn't have time for these postal streets". I was a little concerned because the post office looked trashed. Who is going to clean this mess up. The clerk said it could be a bomb! I think she was kidding but I'm not sure. read more

The carriers coming out of this post office does a terrible job of delivering mail. They seem to be paying no attention at all to what they are doing. I got my neighbor's mail yesterday. I'm just wondering who has mine. this happens way too often, and I am very pissed! read more

Never noticed this post office until recently and I'm often in this shopping center! Was grabbing coffee from Dunkin's and had a drop-off for a return of an online purchase. Couldn't tell from the outside if this place was open or not. Walked in and immediately noticed it looked run down with dim lights. Surprisingly there was no line because it's the post office and it's always busy! Well I guess I came in at just the right time! I had the mobile return code on my phone scanned and I was on my way out! Not a bad experience but won't go out of my way to come to this location! read more

I sell online and have totally refused to ship anything via USPS that will end up at this post office in Bowie, MD. I have lost thousands of dollars having to refund my customer when perishable items are shipped here. Very incompetent staff as they NEVER have answers. I shipped multiple items to customers that are serviced by this post office via Priority and Express Mail and they either end up being missing mysteriously or delivered spoiled/damaged THREE(3) weeks later. Was out of town for a month and placed a vacation hold on my mail delivery. I was handed two stacks of mail, covered with rubber bands and placed--by the Bowie Post Office staff--in a Target shopping bag. They had placed a stack of mail belonging to another Bowie resident in my bag! I've now decided that the Bowie post office is dangerously incompetent. I immediately returned the mis-delivered stack of mail to the clerk. No apology, no thank you. He just grabbed the mail. The Crofton post office is a few miles out of my way, but that's where I go to mail packages and buy stamps. They're always courteous. This location is well-lit, and they have stamp machines in the outer lobby. The Bowie post office is sadly beyond basic. When I take my next vacation, I'll find another option, rather than leaving the care of my mail in the hands of the sketchy Bowie post office. read more

This is the absolute worst post office I've ever been in. I usually avoid it and drive further to Crofton which is what I had to do today. 9am there's 24 people ahead of me in line with one person working. Drove to Crofton @9:15, 6 in line, two people working and was out in 9 min. It's ALWAYS a long wait at the Laurel Bowie Rd post office. They should can who ever is running it, hire more intelligent people or CLOSE it completely!!! read more

Walked in at 5pm on the dot & the line was already roped off & the woman behind the counter was quick to yell we're closed. If I walked in at 5pm the line was roped off before 5 but I digress. I had a package already paid & labeled. I simply asked if they had a box as I normally don't go to this branch. They acted like they didn't even want to help me with that. The office on Main Street might always have a long line but they are always nice & helpful when I go. read more

I apologize in advance for the length of this post, but I am beyond livid. Maybe I should have waited several days to cool down so I could write something shorter, but I need to vent. It never ceases to amaze me how incompetent the personnel at the main Bowie post office on Rt. 197 are. I put a hold on my mail from 8/28/21 through 9/6/21 and requested that my accumulated mail be delivered instead of me picking it up at the post office. Since 9/6/21 was Labor Day and there was no mail delivery, all of my accumulated mail was supposed to have been delivered on Tuesday, 9/7/21. However, the only mail I received on 9/7/21, which was not delivered by my regular carrier, was the mail I was supposed to have received for that day. I know because I receive an email from the USPS every day with images of most of that day's mail (envelopes only; no images of magazines or packages). While my mail was on hold, I continued to receive daily emails and there were at least 18 pieces of mail that should have been delivered on Tuesday, 9/7/21. On Wednesday, 9/8/21, I attempted to call the main Bowie post office, but, as usual, no one answered. So, I printed the email I received from the postal service on 9/6/21 showing that the hold on my mail was ending and that my accumulated mail would be delivered by the post office on 9/7/21. I wrote a note in red ink on the email to the attention of the letter carrier that I wanted the mail that had been held to be delivered. I asked that he put the printed email back in my mailbox so that I know that he read it. I taped the email to the mailbox so that he would have to move it to put the mail in the mailbox. I had hoped that this would force him to read it. As I was leaving my house around 3:30PM, I saw my regular letter carrier at a neighbor's house. When I returned around 4:20PM, there was one piece of mail in my mailbox but the letter carrier didn't put the email back in my mailbox as I had requested. So, I don't know if he even read it. By this time, I was seeing red. I tried calling the post office but, again, the phone just rang, and rang, and rang (a total of 23 times) and no one answered. The last time I put a hold on my mail, the Bowie post office lost my hold request even though I got an email confirmation of the request from the Postal Service. One of my neighbors, who knew I was gone and I had told I put a hold on my mail, just happened to be outside when she saw a substitute carrier walk up to my front porch and put mail in my mailbox. She yelled to him that I was gone and had put a hold on the mail. The carrier said to the effect of, "I didn't see any paperwork on it" and put the mail in my mailbox anyway. Fortunately, at the time, I had a very conscientious regular carrier who noticed that my mail was piling up. So, he took it upon himself to take and hold all of the mail in my mailbox and stopped delivering any more of my mail. He left me a note asking that I let him know when I had returned, by leaving a note for him in my mailbox, so he could deliver all of my accumulated mail. When he did, he said he looked for my hold request at the post office but could not find it. Unfortunately, he was my regular carrier for only about a year and a half before he got transferred to a different route. While he was my regular carrier, it was the first time that I didn't have a problem with receiving other people's mail and not receiving mail I knew I was supposed to receive, except on his days off and when he was on vacation. I don't want to give his name. I'm afraid that someone who is as conscientious as he is and actually does their job right might get in trouble in an organization as incompetent as the rest of the employees at the main Bowie post office, because his work ethic makes everyone else look bad. My wife is going to the Bowie post office tomorrow to see if they have our mail, which should have been on the letter carrier's delivery vehicle on Tuesday, Sept. 7th. I'm having her go because if I go, I'm apt to get arrested for disorderly conduct because I've had it with their constant mistakes and incompetency for almost 30 years. read more

There are 2 lady workers there who need Customer Service 101. Their attitudes are horrible. I've been to this post office twice and both ladies are for 0/2. First time I needed to mail the package and apparently I printed wrong label and the lady treated like I was the most stupidest person rather than to help me. I had to ask her to help me then. And 2nd time- I had to come to see what's up with our forwarding address service. Ermie (that's her name) gave me ugly looks on her face because text was appearing on my phone (yes, I type on my phone to communicate). I had to tell her she didn't have to give me an attitude. When I asked her about forwarding address she looked at me, just like the other lady, as if I was dumbest person ever and with monotonous way of saying it "it takes 7-15 business days!" This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!! My brother shipped shoes, clothing and a few personal files to arrive before arriving to Bowie, MD from Las Vegas this week. THIS is how the package looked when it arrived?!?!? The post man/woman didn't bother to ring the door bell (I was teleworking ALL DAY)! The box was just sitting at the door a HOT MESS when I noticed it from my living room window! They didn't even bother to rewrap it properly, nor did they provide an explanation as to why it was opened/resealed!!! There were no flammable products in the box, just shoes, clothing and files so there is no reason for this complete violation of my brother's privacy!!! In addition, his items were thrown about in the box like trash...looked like a pack of wild monkeys went through it and had a party!!! The post office didn't even take the time to place his items back properly, they just threw everything back in the box as if it was garbage...piss poor customer service!!! I'm washing EVERYTHING...with COVID lurking about us, you'd think the Post Office would take better care of their customer's packages! I'm definitely reporting this incident! read more

US Post Office - Terrible Delivery - Post Offices Near Me - Bowie, Maryland

Some sort of investigation needs to be done at this post office. I truly believe people are stealing packages. I was expecting a package that was to be delivered this past Saturday, said it was on the way. Stayed home all day to sign for the package. Never came and the tracking updated to a "Delivery Exception", next attempt to be made on this past Sunday. The family was home all day and I get a notice that it was delivered "in/at mailbox", but it required a signature!! The tracking shows a signature that makes no sense. This location is a bottom-of-the-barrel USPS location. They didn't have stamps, and when you say it sucks that you waited for 20 minutes and they don't have stamps, and that it sucks they didn't put a sign in the window to let customers know before they wait in line, that the POST OFFICE DOESN'T HAVE STAMPS, does the employee say "I'm sorry"/"you can get stamps from the store"? NOPE, she said I sucked, she escalated it, and when I told her she sucked much better, she sucked even better and told me to meet her there after work. YES THAT IS WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THIS USPS LOCATION, FOR EMPLOYEES TO ESCALATE INTO PHYSICAL VIOLENCE/THREATS WHEN YOU TELL THEM IT SUCKS THAT THEY DON'T HAVE STAMPS AFTER YOU WAITED AND THEY DIDN'T BOTHER TO PUT A SIGN UP ABOUT NOT HAVING STAMPS. Ridiculous. Clerks that can't apologize for not having stamps after you wait for 20 minutes, and they physically threaten you and tell you to meet them after work, in front of their coworkers and other customers, are a risk to their coworkers and other customers. It's that time to complain again! WORST post office & WORST postal workers. Sent out a package a few months ago from the post office & received it on my door step 2 days later. I stopped the postman & explained this was outgoing & he took the package back to the post office to be mailed out. Got it back AGAIN the next day on my door step. Basically the return address (my address) on the label THEY MADE was larger print than the sending address so they just kept mailing it back to me because that was the larger print. You cant even make this shit up! I have been coming to this post office for a while. However, today was the most unprofessional and lack of customer service I have seen. I walked in mind you they close at 12:00pm on Saturday. However, the door was open and people were in line. All I needed was a book of stamps. I waited in line patiently, the clerk won't call his name but he was foreign. He slowly took his time waiting on one customer. As he finished he never made eye contact with customers to acknowledge us. He started moving boxes one he finished moving boxes he slammed down the gate without saying a word with 4 customers in line. We were told by a passport representative that we weren't owed any type of explanation that's how they do business. After waiting 10 mins to speak to supervisor he finally came he never addressed the professionalism of his staff. He helped a female customer and disregarded everyone else. It's clear to me why people choose online services now. I won't curse this business but I would ask god to bless the ones that do the right thing. read more

I wish I could give this post office a zero rating. I have visited this location several times with the same issue and a year later it still hasn't been resolved. I'm yet to meet the postmaster for this location. The gentlemen that I have spoken to is clueless. I call the PO this morning and they claim it went out with the wrong carrier. Then please explain to me why I received a notification from USPS the package has been delivered. This is the second time I have had an issue with getting package delivered especially if they come from an apparel shop. This post office has been terrible throughout the 15 years I've lived in Bowie. The most recent problem is by far the most serious. I dropped off my personal bills and my company's bills into their outside mailbox. Well, long story short several of the checks got stolen out of their mailbox and that person forged the checks into their name and STOLE MONEY out of my company's bank account. Now my company is having to spend money to change our bank account number (which they've had for over 60 years) and order new checks, deposit tickets, etc...., all while trying to keep a bank account active so they can pay their employees & affiliates. It's been a nightmare. When my company's owner went to the post office to report the problem to their supervisor and fill out a report, all he said was that it's a "known problem" and that the postal inspector is doing an investigation. Sounded like the culprit might be an employee. Needless to say I will not be dropping off any mail at this post office for the foreseeable future. I have also experienced the mail delivery issues that other Bowie residents have outlined in their reviews. We will often go several days without our mail being delivered, we have had packages go missing, we've had packages say they were delivered without actually having been delivered but then inexplicably show up several days later. When I have tried to report our delivery issues, it's impossible to get anyone on the phone so you have to go in person. They never actually do anything about it. As I said, it's been 15 years and I am still experiencing the same issues. The stolen check issue is new (at least for me) and that's the final straw for me. read more
