Large post office and yes, sometimes it does get busy, but truly most of the time, it's NOT! The people who work here seem to care about their customers! We are here almost daily and they are very consistent. Lots of parking on street or in the lot. Building is open for PO Box pick up 24/7. There is also a mailbox inside and one drive up mailbox in the parking lot. There is also a passport office in the post office. You can make an appointment online or at the main counter. I think they also have walk up hours (no appointment) for passport office. Packing materials a plenty, gift cards, greeting cards also available here! read more

I send all my international post through the US postal service as it is so much more efficient than Canada Post.

The staff at the counter is amazing to a person. Patient, friendly and cheerful, even in the face of challenges. Each staff member is expert and offers good guidance about the most effective ways to mail items. Once they lost a package I sent with insurance. They wanted proof of the cost. I paid for a hundred dollar coverage. Extra for a signature. I was not informed that if it was stolen or lost I had to prove it was a hundred dollars. I felt like I was being accused of going to the post office and stole the package back. I had to go to a store to look up the cost to print a new receipt. read more

Sometimes the lines and waits are less than desirable but once at the counter, we get professional and courteous service. These guys are awful. They don't care about the customer and are lazy. I went in the other day and there was a line of 5 people. There were 2 people helping one counting the till and another pecking at the computer. One of the 2 helping put up his closed sign and left. I was a bit shocked because in the customer service ind which they are a part of whether they think so or not you don't leave customers standing like that. You wait to be relieved or you take your break later. The reason I went in is because I needed a key to the boxes on the street. I moved to a new apt and they didn't have a key for me. This has been multiple visits multiple calls I have made. I have been told many times it will be done tomorrow well I guess in USPS language tomorrow really never comes. I submitted the request January 20th and it is March 20th. I don't know but I would think it wouldn't be that hard to take the 15 mins it would take to drive both ways and change the lock. The real frustration came yesterday when my daughter went in and they had all these excuses. The guy that normally does it went on vacation when he came back he quit. They are having trouble finding a replacement so the custodian is doing it. These are all new stories to me. I really don't care about excuses you should be able to look on the slip and think this guy has been waiting since January maybe this should be top priority. I have lived all over the West Coast for 71 years, and have enjoyed superb USPS service...until I moved to Blaine 15 months ago. The worst! Inept, rude, and clueless. Lost prescription drugs, they never answer their phone, misdelivered mail, and they can't seem to honor vacation mail hold requests. So frustrating dealing with this office. They refuse to come down our driveway and deliver packages into a box we specifically put in for them to deliver too. They never answer their phones. They will however leave packages in the dirt in random spots along our driveway like an Easter egg hunt. We have complained several times with little being accomplished. What can you do? Came here on a Tuesday afternoon. There were only a couple of other customers and no line. The person who helped us was very patient and made sure to go over all the options for our shipment and explained everything we needed to know. Shipping via the US Postal Service is less expensive than couriers such as UPS and FedEx and they even offer overnight shipping to most U.S. addresses. (Keep in mind that, if you're Canadian like me, you have to be able to provide a return address within the US.) read more

The worst, ever. I went to the Bitterlake post office today 10:00 am. I had a package to mail, it was in a Beringer wine box. I was informed I would need to cover all mention of wine before it could be mailed. I asked if it was okay if i duct taped over those parts and was told "as long as the wine is covered." I took my package back, covered it and stood in line again. This time, the same person who'd helped me before ( a woman who sounded like she may have been Philipina, younger lady) sighed at me and raised her voice to tell me it needed to be covered and it couldn't say wine. I had covered all mention of wine. There were some words visible, but they were just talking about a PGA tour and had a picture of a golfer. There was NO mention of wine anywhere on the package. She pointed at a few words (one of which was "time," not "wine") and yelled at me that they would not accept it because it said wine on it. I tried to tell her she'd not told me I had to cover the entire box, but she just kept loudly yelling wine and pointing at "time." This was a waste of my 30 min break for the day. Had she said the entire package would need to be covered, I'd have left and come back the next day with it covered. Yelling at a customer because you explained the rules incorrectly isn't acceptable. I tried to call the Bitterlake post office to speak to a manager, but nobody answered. This employee is really awful and I hope someone will speak to her. She was working at approximately 10 am today, 12/10/2015 and there was only one other person at the counter, an older asian lady. The person who "assisted" me was extremely rude, couldn't explain what I needed to do to have my package mailed and raised her voice at me, which is not appropriate. read more

When I first moved to Blaine, I was subletting a home while house hunting to buy. I decided that a post Box would be a good thing to have for this reason. Now I've had post boxes most of my adult life. If a package is to large, it's usually placed in a larger locker and the key in my box. Not so in Blaine. And they have over 500 such lockers....most of them unused. Back to my story. Instead, I get a card in my box to go to the window for pickup of a large item. I can understand if it requires a signature or customs (none ever did). Not once was a large item placed in the keyed lockers. I enquired about this, was given a song and dance about how said lockers are "chained from the back". Say what? I asked for the postmaster/postmistress. I was told they were not available. Upon asking when I might speak with said person the answer was "I don't know". Well, how about you go ask while I wait and then I'll,come back or make an appointment. No soap. They wouldn't do it. Ok, fine. I go outside, call and ask to speak to the post master. I was put through almost immediately and when I asked about the large item lockers I was told "we don't use those". Excuse me? I saw people opening them. Now let's discuss other services. For the most part, staff is friendly and helpful. One day, my internet was out, and I needed a zip code. Most post offices have large books where you can look up a zip code. Not Blaine. The PO was jammed that day, I patiently waited in line. When it was my turn, I asked if they could get me a zip code. "You need to go online for that, we don't do that" seriously? You're the post office. Look it up for me please. "No, you need to go online for that." Carefully explaining that my Internet was out, I asked politely again if they would assist me. It's time sensitive. "You'll just have to wait for your internet again". Trying not to go fusion on the person, I explained again it was time sensitive and needed to go out in that day's mail. "Go to the library and use their computers". I tried that already. Same issue, no internet. "Well you'll just have to wait." I left the post office in an extremely unhappy mood. A person who had witnessed the transaction recommended I drive 10 minutes down the road to Custer. I did. I walked up to the counter, explained my situation. The person said "certainly I can do that for you". The clerk also pointed out that they have a usually have a book of all US zip codes, unfortunately they needed to replace it as people tore out pages. So if you live in or around Blaine, the moral of the story is go to a package store or drive to Custer. If anyplace needs an automated postal machine, it's Blaine. They can start by using it to replace the postmaster...... read more

The carrier failed to deliver a package which required my signature. I stayed home today just to receive the package. On my home surveillance camera I observed her mail truck stop at my mailbox and leave the standard "failed attempted delivery" card. She made no attempt to get our of her truck and come to my front door. I jumped in my car and managed to track her down further down her delivery route. I asked her why she didn't try to deliver the package. She responded "It was locked" and when I said "What was locked?" she quickly changed her response to "Well your garage doors were closed so I figured you weren't home". In my neighborhood which I lived nearly 15 years, everyone keeps their garage doors closed. The package I was expecting contained time sensitive material. This incident is unacceptable. I am so tired of having packages that are clearly marked "Do Not Bend" all over the package, folded and wedged so tightly into my mailbox that I can't get them out without tearing the packaging. We used to have a great mail carrier, but he seems to have disappeared. Now our guy is angry, rude, surly, and disrespectful. USPS would not survive in the private sector. This has to be the worst post office in the country. Also, have been waiting for time sensitive packages from Amazon, only to show on their website that the package had been delivered by USPS. This has to be one of the worst post offices in the United states. They have miss delivered every package that has been sent to me. Their excuse is that there is another address with the same number. I mean can you imagine that. Two address in the same city that have the same number? Crazy, right? Not the same street name, not AVE vs ST but the same number. This is literally the worst post office. It's bad enough for us who have to come into the US to get our mail since we work across the border but I can't imagine for those who live in Blaine! I have to constantly ask them to recheck for packages and then they come back 2 or 3 times saying "oh yeah here it is" like it's nothing, like I live there and have all day to just do their job. This post office was decent. The line was relatively long for 12:30 in the afternoon on a Tuesday, though. I stood in line for a solid 15 minutes. They appear to be a little understaffed. There were only two people working at the register and the line had 10 or 12 people in it. When another person jumped on, things moved a little faster. Other than that, I appreciated the humor of the person who took care of me. She was very careful to make sure that everything was done properly. They had a good selection of services, boxes and packing materials. Overall, an ok experience. read more

They left me a notice that they had missed me at 4:16 pm. I got home from work around 5 pm. On the notice card, it said that my parcel was available to pick up after 5 pm the same day they left me the notice. Strongly consider NOT using this post office if you have any thing that must reach its final destination. This is the second time I have mailed a time sensitive and signature confirmation required flat envelope that has not reached its destination. What makes matters worse is their don"t care, dont want to care attitude when you confront them about the lost envelopes. The counter staff take your information and promise the postmaster or supervisor will call you back. Guess I dont need to tell you I never got a call back from the supervisor Kendle. When I did call he had no independent recall of my case. His idea of solving this was to shoot an email to the distribution facility at the receiving destination then directed me to the website to fill out a claim form to get reimbursed for my lost parcel. If I could give zero stars I would. This post office lacks competence, consistency , concern or compassion. Horrible experience. I have lived in Blaine Washington for coming up thirty-three years. Of this time I have had a post office box at the Blaine Post Office for twenty-nine years. Without so much as any kind of a notification my lock was changed. Not understanding why my key wouldn't work I went to investigate. Since my box rental isn't due until July (and this isn't even the end of the first week in May). [I have been paying my box rental a year at a time for twenty-nine years.] ......I am informed the lock was changed due to non payment. Not True! Another woman was in the Post Office the same time as myself and when she heard my disbelief and questions about my box lock being changed she said the same thing was happening to her. Again, she pays a year in advance and her lock was changed. It seems because there was no " Postal officer" in charge of the Post Office boxes last July (2017).....there is no record of payment as far as the Post Office says. Why would anyone who has had a Post Office box for YEARS AND paid for it a year at a time.be treated with NO notification of any kind and arbitrarily have their box locks changed because the Post Office didn't have an officer in charge of boxes the month of July 2017? I would like Post Office box holders that paid their box rent for the month of July to make a comment if they got locked out with no notification. Apparently there is quite a number of us.....which would make me think since the Post Office didn't have a specific person in charge of the boxes for a specific month (July).....then I would think the most reasonable course of action would be to give the regular notification to these "July" people and see how many renew their rentals. If there are so many lock change outs for just the July rentals....and there was no Officer for that month last year...then surely the Post Office should see the connection. Or is this the way the Blaine Post Office dumps loyal box renters? If this is happening to you...please post a comment. I personally would like to know just how many of us there are. Absolutely useless! They ALWAYS claim that my address doesn't exist even though the woman who actually DELIVERS the stuff KNOWS that it does! But no! The worthless place screws up over and over and over again and it is absolute BS because they won't accept any address from where we live even though a ton of people live in this area and get THEIR mail just fine! Don't complain about this place. Its too late for me but don't do it. Apparently, my mail carrier is trying to get revenge on me by either not delivering my mail and not even trying to knock on my door or ring my bell. I had called the post office to complain about a package not being delivered even though I was at home. 5 hours later, a dozen calls later, and promises that they would return and deliver my package, I was informed that it was back at the post office. I was home the entire time watching the window waiting for her to come back and she never did. I was told to sign the slip that was left to allow her to leave the package without me signing. Of course, she said she couldn't get into my building to deliver the package when she "tried again". How does that make sense? How does she deliver mail everyday if she can't get into the building? She just doesn't want to own up to her mistakes, or in this case her laziness. She just lies to cover up the fact that she is a terrible worker that can't even do her job right. Now I don't get my mail on time anymore. I recently saw on the tracking website that my delivery was held for almost one and a half weeks before they delivered it. It was confirmed as being in Seattle and not moving for that period of time for no apparent reason. I have 3 magazine subscriptions as well but suddenly they come late as well. Another time, there was a package I ordered that HAS to be refrigerated immediately. This being the case, I have to sign for it. As in, they can't deliver it if I don't sign for it. Of course, it was sitting in front of the neighbors door without anyone signing for it because the carrier is obviously mad that I called in to complain that she doesn't do her job. It's ridiculous that they're allowed to do this just because I called in a complaint against her. read more

Came in around 4pm. There was a line up of at least 10 people. They had 3 counter reps. Wanted to ask a simple question about mail drop box. Kindly asked if I may interrupt with a question while the person they were helping was looking through their wallet. Responded with a direct NO and added remark "how rude" to me. The people that work here take their time doing everything. Expect to wait in line for 20 mins even if there aren't many people in the line up. I heard of arrogant Americans but this postal office is definitely a place you can witness first hand. read more
