    Peace Arch

A very well-kept park that is great for stretching if needed while waiting in line for the customs.

Crossing the Canadian border by car was a horrible experience. We arrived there and they only had one lane open and 2 cars waiting in front of us. I could bearly handle that kind of horrific traffic & the stress it caused. I knew driving a rental car with California license plates could cause an international incident. The Canadian border guard asked where we were going? I said, "Canada" ...She failed the humor test !! ‍‍

The park has so much green grass to roam around.

Upon returning to the Lower 48 States from my North American travels, I stopped by this cool little park called the Peace Arch Border Crossing. Lol, as you'd expect...it's what cooperatively separates Canada and the USA. Simply taking 1 hour to explore was pretty invigorating with beautiful green grass, trees and flowers situated around the grounds for the end of September. And, the focal point is the Arch Monument which stands high and mighty right on the borderline of both countries. To find Peace Arch Crossing and State Park, it's located while driving along US Interstate - 5, if you're headed south from Vancouver (30 miles or so)... and from the small town of Blaine, Washington (110 miles from Seattle) if you're headed north. I didn't even know this place existed as I actually first entered Canada from Montana...but now taking a different pathway back south to the US, I randomly stumbled upon this park and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The best highlight was noticing just how calm, quiet and photogenic the park was. I even spotted a Yoga class being conducted underneath a tree. It was quite the conducive setting for becoming zen with nature and being outdoors on an early autumn day. Peace Arch Park was a good pause from my long time driving on the road and gave me a chance to breathe in some fresh air while stretching my legs. Btw...it's $10 entrance fee which is well worth the price of admission. Lastly, after hanging out here I returned to my car and strolled over a few minutes to the downtown Blaine, WA area and had lunch outside at the casual Bordertown Mexican Grill, which I recommend.

One of the rare places where one can visit Canadaland without going through customs. Parking is availble in a large lot off 2nd Street, just N of the roundabout. The facilities (ie washrooms) are bit more plentiful than the Canadian side. There's also a USA flag flower bed, but they seem to be using plants with the wrong colour flowers. Everything looked washed out. There's also a much larger park section (E of the arch itself) compared to the Canadian side, but I didn't have time to check it out. Pretty cool to check out if one wants to do the little Canada/USA dance right on the line.

Unity. One. Open. Peace. Together. I admire and love everything that the Peace Arch State Park stands for. Right on the border of Blaine, Washington and British Columbia, Canada is this beautiful park providing a meeting place and safe haven for those looking to connect. You do not need a passport on either side if you are meeting in the park. Canada and the U.S. become one! The grounds are immaculately kept and the array of colors and flowers are stunning. It's truly something you have to see and experience for yourself.

A beautifully landscaped property which connects Canada to the United States. The perfect mid-point to meet friends and family that are unable to cross the border, or don't want to spend hours in line waiting to cross.

A fantastic spot to waste time while agonizingly waiting for the slow border queue to trickle by. Also has clean restrooms near the Japanese garden where the sign is located.

No traffic due to closed US-Canada border for non-essential travel. I miss you British Columbia! (12/26/20)

This is for a spontaneous road trip back on 12/26/20, Shoreline to Blaine, just because. Usually I wouldn't detour to the Peace Arch State Park, because I'd be making a beeline to queue up at the border crossing to head further north to Vancouver, BC. But the border remains closed due to the C19 pandemic as of this writing on 2/13/21. I know because I had to cancel my usual mid February holiday! Plentiful parking and circling border patrol cars keeping an eye on you. Vast green area with adjacent garden beds, I've seen the latter from afar in bloom during warmer months. I took photos of the signature Peace Arch. So eerie to see no lines of cars at the border crossing. Restroom facilities are available. Picnic tables for folks meeting up, especially if you want to visit family and friends from either side of the border. Off to the right are also a bunch of tents, signs of the time. Great place to stretch your legs and walk around. Got kids or four legged furry ones? Perfect for either to run around. Just remember to mask up and take the usual pandemic precautions. If you have time, detour into Blaine and drop some green on the businesses trying to remain open during the pandemic.

Near the boarder customs for US and Canada via I5 and 99. Beautiful park and grenery. Recommened for touriats of both sides of the boarder.

This park is beautiful and well maintained. A good place to stretch your legs and let the kids blow off steam before or after the lengthy lines at border crossing. Plenty of parking if you have a Discover pass which can be purchased at the entry kiosk (good at all national parks in the US) or there is a residential neighborhood with street parking. Bathrooms are open and are the only option if you're stuck in a long line at the border. The park has been open during Covid too.

2700th Review Throughout our nation's history, foreign-born men and women have come to the United States, taken the Oath of Allegiance to become naturalized citizens, and contributed greatly to their new communities and country. The Oath of Allegiance has led to American citizenship - I don't understand the controversy, it seems pretty simple the borders are open to all that apply and comply with the rule of law, emigration laws have been in place for more than 220 years and have provided amnesty for those seeking refuse from persecution while maintaining a safe and secure border to protect the people and interest of the United States of America. In the age where chaos and strife seem to confuse the intentions of our forefathers this park is a reminder of how countries can share borders control and effectively filter commerce, travel and emigration. This is a beautiful border and believe me I've crossed more than a few, the peace here comes from understanding, compassion and mutual respect. To enter the home of others is a privilege not a right, any one that knocks on my door is welcome and can enter through the door I open, if you try to enter through a window under the cover of darkness I'll probably misconstrue your intentions. I found this park to be serene and tranquil, free of tension and controversy, I've only experienced it once when the trees were full of leaves and the grasses were green so I must assume it's always this way, just as I'd expect it to always be a place of peace...

I had visited this state park in July for a day trip with friends. The park is a small haven for meeting friends and family in Canada. The park is quite nice and relatively big. There are a few benches and folks put up tents and cabanas as it gets warm and quite sunny (it was July). There are restrooms on one of the edges but they tend to have a long line. There is a gift shop with limited refreshments and decent size parking. There was an ice-cream truck that came too :) If you are planning on visiting the park, carry water, some snacks, sanitizer, and cash. The parking is I think $10/day and I saw folks being ticketed. ALso helpful to carry a picnic blanket as there are limited picnic benches.

First time visiting this park and we saw lots of wildlife here…read more I like how the info board at the entrance of the park tells you where everything is and the estimated time it will take to complete each trail, and the distance of the trail and if it's flat or steep elevation. Very useful and helpful to decide which trail to go. We decided to do the Mini River Loop trail which is 2.3 km and will take about an hour to complete. However from the south entrance, we need to take the South Valley trail which is steep downhill to the valley where it will meet the Mini River Loop trail. Fortunately the steepness is not so bad and you can walk on the side which is grass if you are like me, afraid of slipping on the loose gravels in the middle. Just watch out for wildlife. We saw a skinny snake on the south valley trail. I was too stunned and by the time I wanted to take a picture, the snake has slithered across to the grass area. I managed to take a pic of it entering the forest. Only 2 steep parts of the south valley trail and then it was flat before meeting the Mini River Loop trail. That is a very nice walk with benches scattered around. On that trail, we saw chipmunk and squirrel and some tiny birds hopping on the ground. You can also hear the birds chirping and animals rustling among the leaves and bushes in the forest. We also saw people walking and running with their dogs, having picnics. A very nice place to be with nature and do some forest bathing. There is a pond near the parking lot and we heard the bullfrogs and saw ducks there.
