I've constantly used this post office to mail packages--even though the employees are rarely polite or helpful. But today was the last day I'll ever use the USPS to mail any packages. From now on, it's Fed Ex and UPS for sure. I often send books via media mail. Every time I send a package this way, I always include one piece of paper in the box, explaining what is enclosed. Today, when I approached the woman at the counter and told her I wanted to send my package via media mail, she looked at me suspiciously, raised her eyebrows, and said questioningly (and tauntingly!), "You got a book in there?" I responded: "I have multiple books in this box." There were four books in there actually--two novels and two philosophy texts for my cousin who is beginning college this fall. Suddenly she started ripping off the tape from my box. I had no idea what she was doing. Then she told me it was her "intuition"--presumably that I was lying about having books in my box. Imagine her surprise when she rips into my box and discovers...FOUR BOOKS! The defeat on her face was evident, but she wasn't giving up without a fight. Pride, you know. Her eyes lit up when she saw a piece of paper in the box--it was a single piece of paper with an explanation of the texts that were included in the package. She said "Aha! You can't send this!" I looked up the rules for media mail on the USPS website and it said nothing about prohibitions against including a piece of paper with the books, but she insisted it was there, and that my piece of paper was illegal. Apparently only one of us is literate. She then started going on and on about how including that piece of paper was taking money away from the post office and that I had to mail it separately. It was kind of humiliating--to be treated this way in front of others, as if I was trying to get away with something. I just wanted to send my books via media mail. I told her I wouldn't be sending the letter via US mail--I'll just go ahead and email it. I guess that's bad for the USPS too. I called Customer Service when I left. The person I spoke with said they agreed that the woman was out of line, and that a piece of paper describing the contents should be fine to include with books being sent via media mail. So I guess there's that. But I'll never send a package via USPS again, and I'll encourage others to do the same. And they wonder why the USPS isn't doing well. read more

The most unprofessional place ever. There is usually only 1 person at the counter during Beverly Hills lunch hour (1-2), which is when the place is swamped. The main lady (the short one, with braided pigtails and glasses) is the rudest postal employee I have ever encountered in my entire life. She plays favorites with her customers, lets her friends cut line, chats it up with people she likes (with 15 people waiting in line), and she yells at people. I am not kidding. I cannot begin to count how many times I have seen her berate customers for not saying "Excuse me" or "please". Last month, I waited in line for 1/2 an hour before I was finally first in line. In walked a customer/friend off the street who proceeded to cut line, walk right up to the window, and ask for her mail. Right in front of me and 17 other people. "Just a minute, I'll go get it," the postal worker said. She turned her back, left her post and disappeared. Everyone in line was incredulous. About 5 minutes later, she returned with a handful of mail for her friend. "That lady wasn't in line," the man behind me said angrily. "You have some angry customers here," I said. "I had to go to the bathroom," she answered saucily. "Are you gonna tell me I can't go to the bathroom? Since I had to go to the bathroom, I was able to get that lady's mail." WHY WHY WHY WHY does this person have a job? Is there no one to complain to? I went on the USPS government website to find someone, anyone to whom I could lodge a complaint. There's no one. I tried to see if there was a manager of this particular branch, and if there IS one, I suppose the lady with braided pigtails and glasses is it. She runs this place like it's her own personal prison, and if you don't like it, lump it. You know what I do now? I actually go to the privately-owned Beverly Hills Postal Place and pay MORE to mail my packages, just so I can avoid this vile woman. I hope she reads this. I hope someone who works for USPS reads this and all the other negative reviews and actually does something about this employee. And for the love of God, hire more staff!!! read more

I come here all the time. It a small location that usually has 2-3 employees behind the counter. They sell a variety of mailing supplies and greeting cards. It can get crowded on fridays but it's pretty good the rest of the week. read more

This is the worst pos office one can actually do business with. I had ordered a package with my p.o box address on it when it had arrived I had a notification that its there in my box . I don't live close to this office so I drove a long distance just to see that there is no package in my box !! And the post office itself was closed but we always have access to our box . so I had to drive all the way back on Monday to find out that this lady had put my package in a wrong p.o box!! I had already made a report before I made the second trip. And this isn't the first time they fuck up ! How can they charge this kind of money for the box and us not having a piece of mind as to wether Our package is going to be delivered right? After I use up the remaining of the time for my box , I'm going to rent an independent box elsewhere! They made me postpone my flight because of this carelessness! Employee who messed up was an African American she admitted that she put my package in a wrong box ! She should be working in a recycling center! And she wasn't even apologetic about it! I had a separate scenario with this woman when I first wanted to get a box where she was giving me a box where the lock was literally coming a part and when I mentioned it do her she kept saying that there is nothing wrong with it so this all ended with me yelling at her and tell her that she doent know her job ! And then the asian lady took over and she went to the back a brought a screw driver so ME as a cusromer would take matters into my own hands and bexome a handy man and fix a box that I hadn't even rented yet! I am very angry right now, and frustrated because I have been attempting to contact my post office by phone for over an hour. Your phone number is listed on your site, and yet it is wrong, and I find out that not even directory assistance has a correct phone number for you. And, by the way, those people are very rude. What ever happened to customer service? You get paid...do your job! Or, find another one where you don't have to deal with people. Unfortunately, I don't live in the area at this time, and therefore, I am unable to just stop in and follow-up since my last visit this past Saturday. Nonetheless, I went there to check my box only to find two pieces of mail; I know for a fact that the box gets stuffed due to so much mail that is sent to it, and I hadn't made a visit in probably a week and a half. It would seem to me that if the mail had been removed because the box was so full, and was taken out and set aside, a notice advising me, would have been placed in my box along with the 2 pieces of mail. I am not happy! I am pretty sure about most of my mail, and what is due, however, I am expecting some things that may be time sensitive, and all I expect is to be able to at least make a phone call and talk to someone at my post office where I have had a box for over 43 years. I realize you are in Beverly Hills, and that you are not open on Saturdays for counter service, but why in God's name do you not have a phone number where your customers can reach you? And, clearly, why list a number that is not long in service and there is no new number??? It is very sad that our postal system has gotten so compartmentalized that good customer service goes out the window. One star is too generous. The workers here are so incredibly miserable and rude to customers! They're the ones who work and the post office and understand the way it works, but I watched the 2 workers there get so upset and be rude to every customer they saw while I waited in line for almost 30 mins! They act like you should understand the best method to send everything, otherwise they talk to you like you're stupid and bark orders at you. And a helpful tip- don't park in one of the few 20 min spots out front. You'll definitely be in line for longer than that. read more

If you have a special mailing to do, do NOT go to a post office, especially this one; go to a mailbox store that has good customer service. Their livelihood depends on good customer service! (In this area, I recommend Number One Mailbox on Olympic & LaPeer; see my review.) Yesterday, I had to go to this post office because a parcel was being held for me there (living things that could not sit out in the heat). I got the delivery confirmation e-mail; the online retailer told me I had to provide the name of the person who would be picking it up (me). Wanting to travel light, I took only my house key, tote bag, and confirmation e-mail (I live within walking distance from the post office). I showed the woman behind the counter the e-mail and said a package was being held for me. She asked me if I have a P.O. box there; I said no. She asked me if I had a photo I.D.; I explained I didn't bring it. Instead of saying politely, "I'm sorry, it's Post Office policy that without a photo I.D., we can't release the package," (I would have understood that) she said with an extremely smug and superior attitude, "Well, I can't give it to you, then." She looked like she actually ENJOYED telling me this. I said, "Can you at least please check if you have it?" Again in a smug way she said, "Oh, I have it," again like she was enjoying her petty power over me. It was 4:15, so I walked home super fast, got my wallet and walked back super fast. I really wanted to tell her off, that she could have explained this politely instead of having a smug attitude, but I didn't want her to say something even nastier to me. In revenge, I should have told her that the package contained LIVE INSECTS (pet beetles from Bugs in Cyberspace, a great company). I know some postal employees are nice, but there are others that know they cannot be fired unless they steal mail or kill someone, and take full advantage of it. Another thing that happened at this P.O. a couple of years ago that was not this bad, but still shows a total lack of intelligence in dealing with customers: I had to return something to a company, using the return label they provided. The only box I had was a Priority Mail box, but I totally obliterated every "Priority Mail" on all sides of the box with thick blue marker. Showing the parcel to the postal employee (a different one), she pointed to it, looking like she was pointing to the label, and said, "You can't use that." Thinking she meant the label, I said, "But this is what they gave me." She repeated "You can't use that." I explained again that this was the return label provided by the company. FINALLY she said she meant the Priority Mail box. I said I had totally crossed out all the words "Priority Mail," but she said it didn't matter. It took her so long to explain what she meant. I was livid. A close friend of our family who was a Professor of Psychology once said that a key element of intelligence is to be able to put oneself in another person's position; one aspect of this is to explain what you mean so they can understand it. This seems like common sense, but it's been said that "Common sense is not common, and it can't be taught." read more

The crazy lazy here gets in a yelling fight with someone every time I go here. She recently refused to serve me (literally turned around in her seat and wouldn't look at me) and then YELLED at me that she "doesn't help people who don't begin their sentences with "excuse me" cuz that's kinda rude." And she said that while making quotation signs with her fingers the entire sentence like some kind of mental case. Um EXCUSE ME, but #1 I wasn't even rude to you at all and #2 if I had been, you're at work. You work in a line of service. You can think I'm rude in your head, but you better shut up and do your job with a smile on your face. If I yelled at my own rude customers, I wouldn't HAVE customers. This place is understaffed. I think that all of the workers are very good people and very patient in a job that I would easily become flustered by. Lines build up and take a while and there is nearly always a snarky remark coming from the back of it. We need to remember that these people are just doing their job providing us a service and that they are doing even more with less resources because of recent cutbacks. Be patient. read more

Expect to wait in line for a while, I got there early, a crowd was waiting in line and waiting for them to open up, I had to wait for 45 min to just buy a Box, Since there is only one Staff there. I made the mistake of trying to re-use a priority box for a regular first class shipment. Despite the fact that I covered with white labels every trace of the words Priority, no matter how small, I WAS SHARPLY REPRIMANDED in front of the entire place: 'we GIVE YOU THESE BOXES! The U.S. Post Office GIVES you these boxes, and they are for Priority ONLY! '. I said, 'the U.S. Post Office already GOT priority rate for this when it was sent to me! I am trying to save the earth and the trees by re-using it!!' She said 'Well when somebody sends ME a box, I THROW IT AWAY! ' She also refused a box addressed to O'Mally Family. Absolutely horrible experience. Never been here before, thought I'd swing by as its right next to my work. I went in at 11, came out at 11:55. Absolutely ridiculous. This was a very nice Post Office until Dana and Pat left even though it was always slow. The one that remains, the woman with glasses and braided hair is a complete monster. I lost my keys there and went back the next day and unfortunately had to end up at her counter. I asked if any keys were in the lost and found. With a nasty grin on her face and without leaving her counter she said no. Really!!! How would she know if she didn't even look??? She then refused to get my mail and told me if I wanted my mail I would have to buy a new key. She is a total B*tch. I filed a complaint with the 800 number but I am sure by now that Ms. Nasty has thrown them out. Even the other people that work there know she is awful. read more

I have rented a mail box at this location for over 5 years and witnessed the service here has gone from bad to worse to THE worst...They don't put packages in mailbox on time even though tracking numbers indicate as 'delivered'. Today, I was there for a little over an hour, at lunch time. Lines where almost to the door, as in holiday, I kid you not. Only one person, not the most efficient or fast. Slow service, unfriendly.
