I am so frustrated right now. There are many things wrong with this office, including the crowds and awful postal workers that other reviewers wrote about, but I had never felt the need to complain online until now.
I ordered an expensive birthday present for my roommate's 20th birthday last week, and, of course, the USPS would decide to lose it. When I tracked it online, it was marked as delivered on Saturday, April 9th, but my housemates and I didn't receive anything, nor hear a knock on our door (we live on the bottom floor of a duplex). I was worried to begin with, because my roommate had ordered something before that was delivered to the wrong house; lucky for her, the person who received it brought it back to our place. In my case, the missing package led to an all-around terrible experience.
I called the post office on a Wednesday and spoke with a cranky, accented man. I gave him my address, name, tracking number, and phone number, and he assured me that he would investigate and call back with a follow-up the next day. Come 4 p.m. on Thursday, there was still no call. I called the office again, and this time had a different employee on the phone who took the same information as before and asked me to call back at 8 a.m. the next morning for a follow-up. Why he couldn't just give me a call whenever he was ready, I don't know. I slept pretty late Thursday night, around 5 a.m., but I still got up in time to call the office at 8. No one picked up. I tried again at 8:30 and 9:30--nothing. Finally, someone picked up at 10:30. It was the same guy as I'd spoken to the day before, and he said he couldn't help me because I didn't call at 8 like he told me to. I could've strangled something right then and there. I told him, calmly, that I did call at 8 and no one picked up, and he made some excuse about hundreds of calls coming in and being really busy, etc. Honestly, if there are that many calls coming in at 8 in the morning, there's something wrong with your office.
The guy said that, out of the goodness of his heart, he would help me anyway, and asked for all my information again. He put me on hold for about 15 seconds, came back, and told me the package was scanned as delivered. I KNEW THIS; the problem is that it wasn't delivered to my house, and that's why I was going through this sh*t to begin with. The guy said that he would put his supervisor on the line, and put me on hold again. An indefinite amount of time and USPS ads later, the same accented man that I'd talked with in the beginning came on the line. He asked for all the same information, again, and said I would receive a call back the next day... again. He was such a smug d*ck about it too; when I tried to explain the situation, how I was home all of Saturday morning and couldn't have missed a knock on the door, he said in a sardonic tone that that was "my contention" and that it was irrelevant.
I still don't have my roommate's present, and it doesn't look like I'm going to get it back anytime soon, if at all. The postal workers are incredibly irresponsible, and this all just stings more because the item was pretty pricey. I'm royally pissed off right now, and I'm definitely sticking with FedEx next time I mail something out myself. read more
