Use the self-service machine. The self-service machine is so much faster than waiting in line. I don't think I've ever experienced a post office that didn't have a line and this one is not an exception. When I went, there was an employee helping customers with the machine. He was very friendly and asked if I have ever used the machine before. I told him this was my first time and he quickly walked me through it. This is a very generous and nice 3 star. The only reason why it isn't a 1 or 2 star is because the people who work here are patient, been here for years and very nice. Pro: The staff are familiar faces and they're really nice and helpful but this place just gets too busy. Con: I guess it's hard to keep this place clean as people just throw their trash everywhere. The machines at this place is complete crap. On several occasions I've been here all three machines are down. I use these machines a lot at other locations so I know how to use them very efficiently. This place is also really packed as a lot of people are trying to send things out and don't know how to use these machines. I have to say that I wish they would staff more people here. No complaints about the people as I know their job isn't easy but the crowd that comes here isn't that great sometimes. read more

For someone who loves to sell stuff online, it's so great to live close to a good post office. The location is very convenient since it's close to where all the other governmental buildings are like the City Hall, Public Library and the Police Station. It seems there is always a line here. Fortunately, it moves along quickly since there are always at least 3 people working in the counter. Many of the staff here are Chinese (this is Alhambra after all) and they are all very friendly. Passport service is also available. If you ever come by the post office during the after hours, there is an USPS Automated Postal Center that you can use to buy stamps with. The process is easy enough. After you input the zip code and the type of mailing service, just place the self-adhesive stamp onto your parcel and drop it off. Parking can be hard to find sometimes. You might have to park on First St if you see a long line waiting to turn right onto Bay State St. Random Fact: All the parking spots are 24 minutes only. read more

I have a love and hate relationship with this post office. I love this post office because it's by my house and you can get your passport stuff done here. There's also this cool self service machine that I've never tried before- but looks cool. I hate this post office because parking is very limited and when you come during rush hours (which can be quite unpredictable) , then good luck on finding parking. I thought all the staffs are really nice , never experienced any rudeness from any of them. Lucky me I guess. But this is really my default Post Office if i need to get some items mailed out quick. After wanting to hurl myself behind the counter to help the patrons myself at the Post Office on Del Mar, stepping into Alhambra's kind of felt like... well... salvation. Firstly, the place is much more modern, clean, and spacious. And it doesn't smell like old wood. The line moves much faster, and the patrons and staff alike are much more friendly. Hector is the NICEST guy I've ever come across working at a Post Office. And I've been to a lot. They need to give that man a raise! After having a quick discussion about which kind of method was quickest and most cost-efficient, he took me over to a self-service machine and wham bam! Done. The location of the post office is great, around all of the other city offices and library. Even with a small parking area I've never had issue finding a spot somewhere close by. I think the thing that dings the rating for me is what dings every post office in the country. - Anytime you go in there is a line. - Half the staff is on break and only 2, maybe 3 people are working on said line. - Staff is not rude but they are not pleasant either. - I understand the up sell when you get there "do you need stamps, insurance, tracking etc."? The last time I went in they offered me everything from passports, boxes, vacation hold; everything short of a mail truck. WTF? Finally, postage rates. I know that this post office and it's employees are not responsible for that. However they do work for the post office and they have to answer for the almost yearly raise in postage rates. Been here for years when I was a kid. I still drop by once in a while when I'm in the area. Parking is a crap shoot but you wait long enough a space will open up. It's pretty clean and the main lobby is open 24/7. Once in a long shot you will have a homeless person sitting on the steps but it's pretty safe. You care like a block or two away from the police station and across the street from a bank ;) My family had a PO Box here for years and once in a while we would run into problems with the paper work since we all have different last names. Other then that we really had no other problems with the PO for the decades when we had it. Recently, I was waiting in line to mail something. There was an old man demanding to cut in line because he was handicapped. He kept on yelling at the lady, keep in mind he chose to go up to her, to speck English and mutter stuff that was racist to her since she had an accent. One of the people in line step up to the old man asking him to back off, which in flame him even more. The lady handled the situation with grace the whole time. I was surprised that the supervisor let that old guy get away with what he did, and not only that, the super had that lady take the old guy's order, which the old guy made a production of. However, I have a feeling this isn't the first time this old guy has done this before. I do applause the lady for handling this situation so professionally. read more

This post office is a reasonable size. The people working here are friendly and they try their best to attend to your needs while keeping the line moving as quickly as possible. This location has an office for making passports too. They close at 5:00pm, which is impossible for most workers who get out at that time to come here. Fret not fellow Yelpers, this location has an automated machine for after hours. Which is very convenient! My only complaint for which I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is hard to find a parking spot. read more

I hate this PO. For most part I never come, but I had a package sent from Germany and the tracking showed it was out for delivery. Great. Then the tracking at 10:10am said it tried to be delivered but the "address was insufficient" and it would get returned to sender. Wtf?!! I checked the item I ordered and the address was correct so not sure what was wrong. At 11:30am, about an hour after I saw the tracking, I went to this PO since it is the hub for where I live to see if I could find out more info. The lady I spoke with said she was able to find out that it was missing the unit #. She took down my address and said she'd call our carrier to update the address and have it redelivered next day. Ok no problem that's fine. I notice on tracking that at 12:23pm, an hour after I had just been at the PO, that my item was now being sent back to sender. I assumed that was a carry over from the initial delivery attempt since I had just come from there and cleared it up for redelivery. So the next day I didn't see any updates to the tracking so I decided to go back and make sure we were still on schedule for redelivery. I talked to same lady who asked me to sit and wait while she contacted my delivery person again. After about 40 min she got the answer that my item was now en route back to Germany. WTF. How the hell did that happen after I went to clear it up in person and was told that the issue was caught and my item would be redelivered that next day. And maybe it's too much to ask but there's only 4 units at my address so even if the unit was missing, is it that hard to just ring a couple doors and say is this yours? This place sucks. I've had mailing issues that different branches have gone to much trouble to sort out but not here. read more

I have lived in Alhambra for 6 years and have consistently gotten bad service from the employees at this post office. I have mailed a check only to have it arrive over a week late, RIPPED IN HALF and taped back together upon arrival. My packages are marked as delivered but they never arrive (Ring doorbell camera backs this up). The mail person leaves the packages right on the front door when there are hedges and a bench to obscure the view. I keep getting mail for the wrong street (and vice versa, that street gets our mail). Service is always bad and things go missing around the holidays, I lose about 5 packages a year due to wrong deliveries or "deliveries". When I go to the post office to complain, the employees simply do not care or blame it on their sorting system and say that there is nothing that they can do. Really put off by the attitudes of the people working here. They seem to have an issue with stamping envelopes. Why on earth would they make stamps if they weren't for, I don't know, STAMPING things? Not too long ago, I asked to borrow a Do Not Bend or Fragile stamp from a lady and she refused, saying that it would smear. I said I didn't care and she snidely remarked that she would care because it'd get on her hands. I stared at her just speechless and thankfully she ended up stamping the effing envelopes. Recently, again when I asked for a stamp, a different postal worker said to me "Wouldn't it be easier if you just wrote it?" I didn't have a pen on me and I had to ask again until he handed it to me with an annoyed look. I've unexpectedly actually had much better service at the Rosemead branch. There were only 4 people in front of me and i was in line for 30 min to get to a cashier. The cashier couldn't help and asked for the manager. But all the manager could say was that he couldn't help seems like he's not educated for his position. I don't know how he got his job there. I will not go there anymore. Post office carrier lied on my tracking information updates. He claimed no one was home to sign for my packages yet my mom was on the phone with me while the carrier was yelling her. All she wanted to know was what the packages were for. I could here the carrier yelling at her from the phone. I recorded a part of that encounter. Not only was he rude and unprofessional but committed a federal crime but falsely claiming he was unable to deliver my packages because "no one was home." I will definitely be reporting this to the proper authorities. I would watch out if you get serviced by this post office. They might be stealing packages and claim they were undeliverable. read more

As for that, it is the only time i need to use the post office. Thanks to Bill Pay I never need to write a check and send via post office my credit card payments or any other payments in general. I always here folks say that they perfer using the post office orver payment over the internet. But, if they look at it, they are spending more time writing a check, mailing it or driving it over to the department store. Came here for my passport service and it was quick and easy! Just have to arrive before or right at 8:30 AM because check in quickly gets filled up! The employee for Passport Service gets straight to the point and wastes no time (which may seem like a good or bad factor, in my experience, it was kind of a bad factor, but I appreciate that they don't waste their nor your time). I recommend coming here, offer a variety of services and the lines may get long, but everyone gets attended very quickly. read more

Extremely poor customer service. The policies of these post offices are not consistent at all. Their customer service is extremely poor. I was told, after waiting in line from the employee, that the supervisor named Sue could scan in my package that I was shipping. The package is PRIORITY MAIL ALSO!!!! After waiting in line for her, she tells me that they USUALLY don't scan in packages, that it is the city of industry that handles that. So apparently it's up to them if they want to scan in or not. Instead of helping a customer with their request this supervisor decided she didn't feel like scanning my package in. I've had problems in the past with items never being scanned in and not being able to track my package, as well as other incidents where my package never got scanned in and was lost by the post office. These people are apparently too busy to help their customers. Well I'm through with USPS, from now on I will be going through ups for my shipping needs. Great customer service, I have to say. I wish I got his name. He was an older Hispanic male that worked up front with the rest of the USPS clerks. I was going to ship a hat in a flat rate shipping box to San Diego. I got the most minimalistic box that could fit the hat without crushing it. It would have cost around $15-$16... When I got up to pay for it, the gentleman picked it up and noticed it was so light. He suggested a different box and that the one he was referring to had not been stocked at the flat-rate box station so that's why I didnt see it. This box cost me $8.75. Wow... This guy was awesome. He took his time even though there was a line (I waited bout 10 mins) to make sure I wasnt spending any more money than I needed to. I really appreciated his help and couldnt be more pleased with the customer service I received from him. I will check my receipts and see if his name is on there and I will update this review accordingly. read more

This post office is horrible. They never answer the phone and 2 of my packages never arrived even though the tracking number said delivered. This location is notorious for either fraudulently scanning packages as delivered when they clearly weren't and I went to the post office 3 times to complain each time the manager said they were investigating and that it would take some time, by the 3rd visit he pretended not to recognize me and said it was too late to do anything about it because too much time had passed. That package cost me $80 and 2 times my items were delivered broken. If they ever put the livelihood of post offices to a vote I'd vote to close them all we should just stick to ups fed ex and DHL who I've never had problems with. May least they answer their customers phones and complaints. I have since started shipping my items using these private companies. Everyone beware. read more

Packages go missing all the time. If you have a prepaid shipping label that you did not pay over the counter, don't ever throw your packages in the bin that the tell you to because there will be a high chance that they will go missing. Always make sure that they scan it right in front of you because if it ever does go missing and they didn't scan it, the post office can say they they have never received it so it will be your loss. I sold a package online and decided to drop off my package at this post office because I was near by. Being my first time dropping off my packages here, I didn't know that this post office was notorious for losing packages and dropped off my package in the bin behind the counter as one of the lady that works there told me to do and left. A week later, the buyer contacted me saying that she had not received the package and checked the tracking number to say that the post office had not received the package. When I went to the post office asking where the package went, they told me they didn't recognize the package. It's funny because I dropped off several packages at the same time as the one that got lost and only one package went missing. The usual post office I go to in El Sereno usually scan it right in front of you immediately after they receive it, which is something they are supposed to do. read more
