Oh, what a soul-sucking experience this place is. Dueling instructions/officious bureaucracies obtaining a passport renewal for kid today, took us nearly three hours and we were only 4th in line, and everyone ahead of us had all paperwork in order, too! The website states you can walk in on a Saturday between 9-1. We got here 45 minutes before opening only to see a bunch of signs which state 'Saturday by appointment only.' Seemingly clueless worker assigned to passport duty demanded to serve only appointment holders, of whom there were none because there's no mechanism to make an appointment. When we called and asked if we needed an appointment (as did others in line) we were informed that we should line up by 8am and they'd take the first 10 people in line. The web site also says you can pay by credit card but NOTE: the payment to the passport agency must be in the form of a check or money order, because we're living in 1973, apparently. For this joy, we will pay a couple hundred bucks. read more

I never leave bad reviews but I am so frustrated with this post office. I made TWO appointments for passport services and both times they called me THE MORNING OF to cancel. They didn't even try to reschedule for me or help me out after and now I can barely find appointments anywhere else. They don't answer their phones, I have tried calling sooooo many times, and now I might have to end up paying for an expedited passport because I depended on my appointments here. read more

I've been here for years and it's always bad service. They should be grateful to have a job. A sales associate by the name of "Diane" didn't want to help me because my package was an international shipment. She complains about her having to leave and can't work late. Regardless of whether she wants to or not, I'm already standing in line! She decides to hand off her package to another associate, Ping. Ping, processes our package, but says the same thing and complains about having to input the information for customs. By the way, Diane actually wanted us to come back tomorrow! They definitely need to hire new associates who are willing to do their jobs right. I don't feel good about paying tax dollars for incompetent people. This place is beyond disorganized. I came to get a passport and there is no one to help you. There are no signs, no workers, just a stupid corner where everyone is sitting that indicates that is where you are suppose to go. The Chinese women workers who process the passports are rude and unhelpful. There was a really nice, tall black male worker who explained to me I needed to sign-in. Granted, there was no damn clip board in sight. The idiot worker had it behind the counter where no one could sign in! Ummmmmm. The wait time is insane! The line did not move for two hours!!!!!! I am beyond disappointed in the letter carrier that we have servicing us this past year. This past weekend a substitute letter carrier jammed a package into our tiny mail box slot. We couldn't get it out. I went and kindly notified the post office on Monday. They said they were going to have the "regular" mail lady help me remove it and resolve the mess the other carrier left. Two freaking day went by and the box was still jammed in there along with my new mail. I called and notified the "supervisor " and they said they'll send someone out Monday afternoon. Total bullshit. No one ever came out and fixed the problem. I will file a complaint online and go there in person tomorrow. read more

I saw her walking away with no package. What's the point coming to our place without package? She doesn't wanna carry a package to deliver? She basically does easiest work which is leave the notice so she doesn't have to carry around the packages. We live a block away from Mark Keppel High School. Horrible customer service. Asian lady working at the first counter with hideous makeup and fake lashes was straight talking smack about customers out loud. Shame on her. What kind of hiring process did they do to hire such a low class, unprofessional person? Then, the passport center. This should entail a whole other review. My advice- don't even bother coming to this post office for passport services. It's hell just trying to find someone to help you. I had filed a missing package that was marked forwarded to USPS.com for my wife. The package was supposed to be delivered to her mom's place. I received a call two days later from "someone" who works at the US Post Office here. "Someone" called with a Non-Caller ID number and left a voicemail. Didn't leave a name and gave me a callback number if I had any concerns. They gave me the correct 7 digits but gave me a different area code number? I didn't know until I checked online for the correct number. I called back 3 times and no one picks up. I don't even know who to talk to. This particular post office needs to work on providing customer service. At least leave your name so I know who to call back and a CORRECT phone number? read more

Believe me, like many other yelper's have said, if a 0 star can be give, I WOULD BE GIVING THEM ONE. Second time happening within 1 month, package gets lost. I am a avid online shopper, so 90% of my stuff is purchased online. Since I live in a apartment, I have a central box unit that all the bigger parcels gets placed in. Every single time, tracking info shows delivered, and when I go open the box, EMPTY! Three possibilities I can think of here, (1) Mail Carrier misplaces the key into another tenant's mailbox so I don't have the key, (2) Mail Carrier scans it but does not deliver it, (3) "someone" just keeps stealing my stuff This is a frustrating situation, and what even pissed me off more was when I went in to the post office nicely, asking what could have happened to the package, everyone gave me the stare as if I am blaming them to begin with. WHOA!!! WHY SO DEFENSIVE? I AM HERE FOR HELP PEOPLE! One of their counter people, JULIE, was not the nicest person to ask a simple question. Seriously lady? You can chat with some customer for 15 minutes about where to get make up but you cannot answer a simple question of "WHO DO I ASK ABOUT LOST PACKAGES?!" I mean, you are getting paid for doing you JOB right? WHAT A JOKE USPS... NO WONDER YOUR BUSINESS IS FAILING... I have to say that this post office is speedy!! I applied to get my passport renewed for my trip and it was quick!! I got it back in less than two weeks!! I was totally ecstatic!! Did you know that you can drop off Fed Ex packages here!! I didn't and thought that was was cool!! haha!! Talk about emergency package out the door!! I have to say that every time I go to this post office, it is not crowded and there isn't much of a line!! The people working at the counter are extremely nice and helpful....that is how I got my passport back fast... The parking lot is not very large, but I always manage to finding parking and if you can't park in front of the post office, there a lot only 1 block away (free). read more

DO NOT SHIP VALUABLES THROUGH THIS POST OFFICE. I've gotten used to constant mis-deliveries, rude counter service and the fact that they refuse to answer their phone, ever. But I recently sold an item on eBay and preprinted postage at home. When I dropped it at the Alhambra PO branch, they refused to give me a receipt and assured me that none was needed as they would scan it into the system. One week later, I discovered that they had lost the package and had to open a claim. Because they would not give me a receipt, I have no proof that they took possession of the package. Always long lines, rude agents, and careless handling of packages. I try to AVOID this location as much as possible but had to go in today to mail 2 packages. Already paid postage on them and only needed the office to scan them and provide me with a receipt. Yes, I know that you can just drop packages off at any post office locations but USPS had actually lost one of my packages before; one that I dropped off but didn't asked them to scan it. I ended up having no proof that USPS even had my package so now I always have them scan it first. This is actually the 1st location to refuse doing this. Their reason for refusal was that I had already paid postage. Well I guess then soon everyone can just print labels at home and drop them off so then there is finally a reason to get rid of these lazy workers After getting the supervisor out to "argue" with me, they agreed to scan my packages. But immediately told me that they could not give me a receipt. Whenever you do something over an USPS counter, such as buying stamps or mailing a package, the counter machine generates a receipt. This branch can do the same but they just don't want to give it to me. And not to mention these people's rude attitude. I wasn't asking for anything crazy. I simply asked you to do your job. Was that really hard? When I asked why can't I get the receipt, the rude supervisor told me, "There is no why and do not ask me!" I simply couldn't believe it. I get it that working at the post office may not be the best job out there but at least show some respect to yourself. Can I like, write a review for a whole city? Alhambra's a loser. Note: I only put in the one star becase it wouldn't let me leave 'Zero' - Alhambra gets a 'No Stars' rating from me. During the time I lived there, I had to drive thru town to get to work. It's only about two miles and was only slightly less aggravating than my old commute - driving to LA from Anaheim in Orange County!!! Horrible. Please note: no ethnic comments. I have left my own bias out of it, or tried to. Is there any other stretch of Atlantic that's posted at 25 miles-per-hour?!? How did they do that? They've shut down the whole stupid town - there is no way to get thru. I've waited for traffic lights to cycle thru 3 times, just to get thru one miserable intersection! And don't cut anybody off in Alhambra. Infringe on their possession of the roadway - even if they are only getting to HALF of the posted speed - and they'll let you know about it. Every time. 'Lived there a year - and never saw anybody that could actually fully stop for a 'Stop' sign... Forget enforcing 'hands free" laws prohibiting driving while talking on the phone - even tho it would help considerably - they're all doing it! (They're probably getting driving directions. Or instruction!) Plodding along in a 40-mph zone with two cars side-by-side blocking both available lanes - at 25 miles per hour!!! Welcome to Alhambra. Left-hand turns from the right hand lane? Across 4 lanes of traffic? Why the heck not?!? Slowest pedestrians in the world. Hence the blocked intersections. Bicyclists that run red lights without looking. 'Wonder what their survival rates are... Gotta be affecting insurance premiums... Zero patience. Rather than wait at the stop line, can always be counted on to overpack busy intersections by jamming their cars into it - right up to the last possible second. Warning signs, street lines and markers... All ignored. There's actually some good information - standing right there by the side of the road, all convenient-like... Should be easy... No seat belts in use. But why should they? At the speeds they drive, it would be nearly impossible to get hurt - even in a head-on collision! Yeah, you'll see many projects going on in Alhambra - all the time. Putting the plate glass windows back in the front of the 7-11... after towing the car out! Light poles and signs are constantly being replaced all over town... and not due to old age! Railings and guardrails anywhere near the street... constantly new... and the mangled remains of what had been there previously will be hauled away to create more jobs in the field of recycling! Don't bother dropping off your packages here if you want a receipt. I sold something on eBay, so I paid for the shipping online. I came to this post office to drop it off and asked for a receipt. They wouldn't give me one. They told me they only give receipts to those who actually purchased the shipping from their office. So if they lose my package I have no proof that I dropped it off and prove that it was their fault. I've dropped off packages at several other post offices and they've always gladly given me a receipt. read more

This review is about passport services. I would give it Zero star if i could. This post office does not like to deal with passport , here is why. So from opening-3 pm is passport hours, first come first serve, postal manager said come in early to sign-in on-waiting, come in half hour early then your sign-in time they suggested but if their regular postal line is long and its our turn ( sign in time ) then they will push us back until the regular postal line is down to 1-2. I have never done a review before, but I absolutely had to after coming to this post office. A clerk by the name of Julie, gave absolutely horrible service. So then I went to complain to her supervisor by the name of Sue. And guess what? Same terrible service. I can't believe we pay tax payer money for such rude and unprofessional people. Michael is the best!! I've only ever done mass mailing here and my experience has been excellent! For my first time, I came in with a large bag of Priority and First Class Mail packages to mail out and stood in line because I wasn't sure how else to proceed. Michael appears seemingly out of nowhere, as if he occasionally circulates to spot confused faces, and helped me right out! He kindly and patiently showed me where to go for mass mailing, how to sort out the packages and scan them and gave some very helpful tips and tricks, as well! It seems as if he's always there to help, too, if you ever have any issues or questions. Because of my experience with Michael, if I knew anyone who needed to mail out a large number of packages, I'd definitely recommend this place!! Parking is super easy, too, if you're doing mass mailing here. You can drive into the large parking lot via 1st St or Garfield, and park right up front by the sorting station. read more

You can find me at the post office 4-6 days a week, dropping off my packages from online orders. Usually, I'm in back, in the loading dock area, sorting out my packages for them. It's not a terrible thing, they never give us grief about our oversized flat rate packages. If I step inside, I tackle the self-serve machines. Lines can get crazy after 3:00. We actually live closer to the El Sereno department, but that place is ridiculous. They tend to re-weigh your pre-paid packages. And they always warn us that our flat rate envelopes may get returned. This post office is located in the government services area (love it): it's on the same block as City Hall, the police station, the Gas Company, and the Chamber of Commerce. Quaint. It's an old building, and definitely my favorite part is the Works Progress Administration mural inside. This office has one of those handy computerized machines for mailing packages so you don't have to wait in line. If you do wait in line, the workers are friendly, even when busy. One time I waited in a long line, and the guy at the counter was still pleasant and encouraged me to take my time deciding which stamps I wanted, even though I'm sure he'd been working hard and dealing with impatient and rude customers. You MAY have to wait a while due to the packages people bring in; Alhambra has a large immigrant population, and often customers are sending packages outside the country, so forms need filling out that slow up the line. As with every post office, the end of the day and the holidays have long lines. In addition to the WPA mural, the side of the building that faces Garfield has a gigantic mural of a stamp with a screeching eagle. Awesome. read more

Who likes going to the post office? NOT ME! I have never had a positive experience at a post office until today. Location/parking: Located right on bay state. It is very difficult finding parking especially during peak hours (when people AREN'T at work). This place is always busy and there is always a line. There is parking right in front of the post office, but I always find myself waiting for a parking spot. There are mail boxes right on bay state that you can drive by and drop your mail in. Service: I came in today because I wanted to return a purchase I made on a piece of clothing. I wanted to send it the cheapest possible way because I am responsible for shipping. I stood in line and a nice post office worker asked me how he could help me. I explained the situation to him. He gave me options and even went to get me an envelope to send it in. It turned out that after using their self-service system, it was going to be nearly $10! I did NOT want to spend that much and he didn't want me to either! So he put that envelope away and he said he had another idea. He went to the other side and got me a different padded envelope. By using this particular envelope it ended up costing $6 which sounds A LOT better than $10! He did everything for me using the self-service system even though he could have easily told me to just follow the directions and do it myself. There was even an Asian lady who was rudely interrupting him while he was helping me. He told her that he was helping me and he would be just a second. That was very professional and polite of him. Overall: I'll be coming back again if I need to! Hopefully that helpful man will be there again to save me money on shipping because if I were to use the self-service machine on my own I would have paid $4 more! If you come here, I'd recommend speaking to a worker to see the best method of shipping based on your needs instead of doing it yourself, it could possibly save you some $$$! REVIEW ON PASSPORT SERVICE ONLY. Nice staff if you can speak chinese. It's not that they're rude people; the culture is just different and the chinese language IS loud (so apologies on behalf of the staff for loud speech that you might interpret as being angry or mean.) I came here to get my passport done because the south pas services were moved to glendale. Advice: come early, because the line closes basically by 12:00pm (there are SO many people who need it done!) I signed my name on the list to be helped at 1:20pm when the lady who was doing passports was on lunch, and I was one of the last people she was able to help because the services close at 3:00pm every day. I was helped around 2:30pm which was a relief and the whole process took about 15-20 minutes to complete (which makes sense because there were two people ahead of me.) As I was waiting to get my passport done, a lot of rude customers walked in and demanded service. It was disheartening to see so many rude people not understand that the line was long and already full for the day. :( I have to mention that there are appointments available on Saturdays, but they get booked up very quickly--book a month ahead, or try at Monterey Park Post Office or Alhambra Public Library. read more

Stay away from this postal service office they're service here is mediocre I was here on 7-17-20 I needed to speak to the office supervisor Alfonso, in regards my bulk mail account. I requested to speak to him and the person who contact him is Mike one of the mail handlers he told me to wait 10 mins. which I did 15,30 up to 40 minutes went by and he did not came out to assist me with my account inquiries. Every time I checked why he was taking so long they would give me a different story the other CLOWNS that work here. I think he was hiding inside the TOILET and he decided not to do his job which is to provide good customer service. Typically it will take 6-8 weeks to get your passport, depending on the number of outstanding applications they have to process ahead of yours. Apply for yours ASAP. read more

For the passport service is slow and most time the person who processes the passport is "Un-available!!!". I have to be there sitting from 2 pm and now 3 pm since he was out for lunch!!! I am the first one on the list but I wasn't able to see "him" the most important passport processor! I don't know how many hours I supposed to wait for this person in order for he to finish his feast. We just get confused why he could get more than 1 hour for lunch! Why this person have such priorities! Or this person could be high position so that he could let all the customers waiting for him. If not for the first time appliers, please avoid this place. This is one of the better post offices in the area. The Alhambra post office is modern and spacious, compared to the one in San Gabriel and San Marino. There is always a greeter in the lobby area who will help you out with your mailing needs. They also work pretty fast too which is a rarity, especially in the post office. Luckily I know how to ship my stuff since my dad is a mail carrier. Sometimes they try to tack on other services like having me try to send my letter certified to a destination that is 45 min away. Yeah, no thanks. Here's also a better tip. Pay for postage online. I usually only pay in the post office if I need to ship items internationally as you have to fill out the customs forms. Everything else is done through Paypal or the USPS.com website. There are multiple mail boxes around and about. Remember to check the pick up time. They have not lost any of my mail, which is a good thing. Parking is scarce, especially around peak hours (around 3pm). You can park on Garfield in front of the bank or you can find parking along the post office. read more

I bought a MO from them. Sent it to a party. And it was ILLEGALLY RETURNED to me. The MO was returned by the post office under the pretext that the address was vacant and it was not! When I sent it I used my nick name with the understanding that it was going to be cashed and that is that. Me having two receipts for it. My po box on the envelopped returned, etc. When I tried to cash it, she put my driver's license # on it, but turned around and said could not cash it because of the name. I showed the 2 receipts for it. The return envelope with the yellow tag confirming the discrepancy (the post office's screw up)  etc. They still refused. I considered resending it back but, now thanks to the PO second screw up, which consisted of putting confidential info (my DL #) on the MO, I could not send it. Added my first name (legal name next to my last name, separated with Coma), returned to the PO and asked for it to be cashed showing the DL matching the full name on the MO. They still refused. IN  nutshell: 1/-They never delivered a MO that they should have, as the address it was sent to was a good valid one and envelope properly stamped. 2/-The clerk put my DL # on the MO when she should not have done that if the MO was not going to be cashed back to me. I'll at least STILL have the option to send it back if I see fit. She took that away. 3/-Her boss refused to cash it with my name on it this time, as the entire hand writting of the MO was mine as I am the one who purchased it and proved it to them with 2 receipts. 4/-Her boss refused to re-issue another for me to send back to the party it was sent to the first time WITHOUT my confidential information on it. Me  highlighting the FACT that if they did not screw up the first time, we would not be having the conversation whe had. These criminals Ganstered me out of my money, me being poor. 50.00$ might not  be much to them, but to me it's a LOT! I used to feel bad about the USPO being run over by co's such as FEDEX, UPS, etc. Now I realize they AUGHT to be run out of business, them being a federal agency, they should not act like the scumbagy gangsters they acted like, to crook a poor person out of her hard earned money. The post office is packed especially in the morning. Better to come around 10am for a smaller crowd. The service can be slow compare to the post office in Rosemead.
