I don't write many reviews but I felt this one was well deserved. Urban Glow Salon gives the most amazing service and is such a beautiful hair salon in Vancouver, WA. I've been seeing Kerry for years for a cut and color and she gets it right every time.. and I've had my hair basically every color and length (she's a literal wizard with extensions as well). She has many years of experience, which you can tell through her work, she is so meticulous and pays attention to every detail. I truly leave the salon feeling amazing every time I leave! This salon is a hidden gem in the heart of Vancouver. It's inside the historic academy building and has so much character. The set up of this salon is absolutely gorgeous. You can really tell they have poured their heart into creating a relaxing, calm, and safe space. All the girls are so incredible sweet and attentive. I truly look forward to every appointment here at Urban Glow. The stylists here are extremely knowledgeable and honest. People will literally go out of their way to stop me and compliment my hair. Needed a haircut and looked up places close to me. Surprisingly, most salons were booked out till August but then I saw one opening at Urban glow and lapped it up .The online process for appointment scheduling is easy and hassle free . The Salon was a little hard to find especially because of the construction going on but the building itself is very prominent . The salon is located at the back of the academy building, which is what confused me at first and I had to call them to assist me .The Salon is well-lit and spacious and I really liked the whole vibe of the place especially the exposed brick . Adrienne was my stylist and I liked what she did to my hair , plus she was so fast about the whole thing that I was in and out within 20 minutes . I like no fuss hairstyles and she instantly understood my need and even though I asked her for a different style she suggested that since I like hassle free , I should stick to a low maintenance cut and needless to say I am really loving the brush and go process these days . I was quite excited to finally get my hair tended to as it had been quite some time. I had a new client appointment with Bab's. I showed her the picture of the exact cut I was hoping to achieve. Which included lots of front layering, texture and long curtain bangs. I explained that I wanted much more movement in my hair. She proceeded to cut my hair, which took no more than 5 minutes. She ran her scissors vertically down the front of both sides of my hair, but did not add any layers, texture or curtain bangs. Honestly, what she did to my hair I could have done on my own. It was that simple. She then took an additional minute to barely touch and trim the bottom of my hair. Then she said, "okay, let's go get you washed." I was hoping that maybe she was going to wash my hair and then finish my cut after. Unfortunately that didn't happen. She brought me back to the chair and immediately started my blowout. Which was also awful. My hair is quite frizzy, so you have to be very careful with how you style it. I'm watching her style my hair and I know she's not doing it right. By the time she's finally done, she turns me around to look in the mirror and my heart just drops. I looked like the Cowardly Lion from Wizard of Oz. My hair was just a giant frizzy poof ball. Even the other stylists were looking at me with concern. She should have pulled out a flat iron or curling iron to fix the mess that was my hair, but offered nothing. She seemed so pleased with her work and I'm honestly baffled by her lack of self awareness. I was mortified to walk out of the salon. I literally had to go home to wash and restyle my hair before I could continue on with my day. Not something you should have to do after leaving the salon. The audacity to charge 70+ for a hair cut that took less than 5 minutes and wasn't even remotely close to what you asked for. read more

It's odd and disheartening to discover that this salon which runs out of the same building as a wedding venue refuses to do bridal hair because "no one wants to do it" when booking my wedding at providence Academy I personally walked into the salon and asked if they do bridal hair and was enthusiastically told that yes they do bridal hair so it was quite shocking when I called and they now claim they don't do bridal hair anymore. You would think that a hair salon in a wedding venue would be eager to accept bridal clients. read more

I was charged $360 and the stylist didn't even style my hair at the end because she didn't want to turn on the curling iron. This is the third time I've been to this stylist and she didn't even remember me or know what we were doing. I asked for a trim, she forgot, dried my hair and then proceeded to cut off more than 2 inches of my hair when I said I just wanted a trim and really wanted to keep the length since I've been growing out my hair. Never checked in when my hair was processing or toning- was more interested in watching TikTok videos at the front desk. Didn't even put a care treatment mask on after the bleach clearly dried my hair out. Offered me tap water on a 100 degree day. Paying almost $400 at a salon that doesn't even have cold bottled water is a fucking joke. Needless to say Babs is clearly distracted and doesn't actually care about her clients. She will be realistic with your expectations and walk you through exactly how she can achieve your goals and what to do to maintain your look. I've gotten numerous things done to my hair from all over lightener and back to dark. They have an outstanding reputation and their reviews are all 5/5! I called and booked an appointment with Baily! Let me tell y'all, she KNOWS HAIR! She worked some magic on my blonde. Making it more light, vibrant and beautiful and she re touched my purple underneath and I have been getting compliment after compliment! Location: Part of the reason why I chose this salon in the first place was because it is located in the Academy building. I was married at the Academy, so it has a soft spot in my heart. I also appreciate that parking was easy. The salon is located at the back of the building, so it isn't actually inside of the Academy, but I think that makes it easier to find. The inside is cute and stylish and has a lovely feel to it. Haircut: I had my haircut with Hilary, and I think she did a great job. She listened to what I wanted and understood the kind of look I was going for. My hair looked really soft and pretty after, and I kind of want to buy whatever conditioner and hair products she used because it looked amazing. Customer Service: I had a Groupon for a haircut, wash, blow-dry, and deep conditioning treatment, but I forgot to mention the conditioning treatment until after she'd washed my hair and started cutting. Hilary was incredible about the situation, though, and gave me some of the deep conditioning treatment she uses in the salon to use at home. I don't live in Vancouver anymore, but I visit a couple times a year, so I'll definitely keep Urban Glow in mind when I come back. I'll also be sharing with any friends looking for a haircut. read more

I got a haircut also wanted bangs so Kerry was helpful to suggest getting bangs on the longer side and work my way to shorter bangs because there is no going back with short bangs in the case I hated it which is so true haha. I went to this salon a few times and have pretty mixed feelings about my experiences. To start, I made an online appointment with Hilary. I waited the month until the appointment, when she texted me three days before the appointment saying she couldn't do it. Super lame, and not really much of an apology but i wrote it off as stuff happens. I made a new appointment for the first slot available (another month later) and was with Maddie. She did a good job and great cut, but it wasn't quite what I asked for, I wanted balayage and she really just did highlights. The next appointment I made with Hilary again. That experience was really good. She really listened and talked to me about what I wanted and the best way to try something new (bangs). The last appointment for me there was again, with Hilary. I don't know if she was just having a tough day or what, but she didn't really do what I asked for. I wanted to lighten more for summer, but it was still pretty dark when she was done. Without me even saying anything about it, (I guess she saw my face and knew it wasn't right) she gave me kind of a lame excuse and said she didn't want to take it too light because the ends of my hair still had box colored damage from a few years ago. The problem is - I've been adding blonde balayage for the last 2-3 years with zero issues. I mean, Maddie did full on blonde highlights my first visit! I also had told her before the color treatment, I didn't care if we needed to just cut the box colored ends off and be done with them. It seemed to me like she just didn't feel like it and was impatient to leave for the day. The last straw was that she charged me a good $60 extra with no explanation as to what the price increase was for. I wasn't sure until I got home and compared to my previous bank charges, but it was. At that point I decided I was done with this place. It is a cute salon and they defiantly don't to a bad job there... just not what I wanted and for the prices they charge, it really should have been better. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Kerry about a week and a half ago for my first appointment at Urban Glow, also a week before my wedding so I was taking a bit of a risk trying out someone new right then, but I'm SO glad I did!! I will never go to anyone else as long as she's doing hair now! It was the best experience! The salon is super cute and Kerry was not only friendly but real which I love. Conversation wasn't forced or fake which I greatly appreciate and she did the most AMAZING job on my hair in record time!!!! I haven't loved my hair in years but now I am obsessed! I showed her a picture and she PERFECTLY matched my hair to my inspiration picture. I'm still in disbelief that this is my hair. I love it so much!!! She also immediately was able to pinpoint that the highlighted "money pieces" I came in with were washing me out and that's probably why I wasn't liking my hair so, we decided to fix that and I couldn't be more grateful for her honesty, skills, and eye for detail. She helped me pick out some new products to help me with my hair goals but that was by my request so, no pushy sales or anything and it was just the BEST experience!!!
