    The Glazed Burger
    Alvin B.

Who would've thought of getting a meal at a gas station? I certainly didn't. But my coworkers insisted on getting this for lunch, and, I'm glad I tried this place out! Tucked away on one side of a BP gas station, this place has some unique burger combinations, as well as salads, hot dogs and other kinds of sandwiches. I ordered the glazed burger with onion rings. The glazed burger comes with a steak burger, fried egg, caramelized onions, aged cheddar cheese, ketchup and a Korean style glaze all on a brioche bun. It was very delicious - fresh and made to order! The burger was a bit bigger than I expected so I had to cut mine in half. The Korean style glaze was a bit sweet and tangy; it overpowered the other flavors of the burger, but not by much. The onion rings were alright. A little bland, but the batter was just right enough to give it a good, crispy bite. Overall, I was impressed! I would definitely come back here and try out their other burgers.

Urban Counter is a hidden gem located inside a BP off Farnsworth in Aurora. It has a very hip decor and adds to the solid gas station's portfolio of offerings. The staff is quite friendly and walks new customers through the options. Everything is grilled fresh to order - you can taste the difference. Many things looked good, but the daily special was buy 1, get 1 mini burgers. It was under $5 for 2 minis, regular fries and regular drink. Awesome value. The burger was remarkable - just a little ball of flavor. The grilled chicken mini was equally impressive. It was juicy, well seasoned and hot off the grill. Fries grew on me, but needed some salt and a little more time in the fryer. I would visit much more often, but will have to settle for occasional visits to this wonderful, fresh, fast food solution

    Bleu Cheese Burger

Wait a minute, burgers at a gas station? That's right, peeps, a yummy burger cooked to order at a gas station. Or maybe you're hungry for a salad or a grilled chicken sandwich, they've got it. Urban Counter is located inside the BP gas station. I had a Bleu Cheese Burger. It was cooked to order. I think it was a 1/2 pounder, but not quite sure. It was topped with bleu cheese, a bacon jam, and arugula, on a brioche bun! It was one of the better burgers I've had in a while. The sweet potato fries were delicious as well. On this visit, the regular fries were just okay. I would stick with the sweet potatoes. We did have a problem with one burger being raw on the inside. It was put on the grill after the others, but removed at the same time. The staff was very apologetic and the young man that cooked it came to our table later and said that he just wanted to apologize again for the burger and was very gracious. We were very happy with the customer service and food. I'll be back. Prices were pretty reasonable as well. A meal of a burger, fries, and a drink was less than $10. Not bad. I can truly say this beats any gas station hot dog sitting on a roller for 12 hours!

    Overcooked meat , blackish bun

That was the worst hamburger I've eaten in my life. I asked for medium/well cooked , it came overcooked and buns were almost burned , black. I'll not talk about the ordering process which took 10 minutes including several refunds etc. Long story short do not be deceived by high rating. They are not good. I should have eaten at Mc Donald's cross by.

So gas station food is never a good idea, right??? Wrong!!!! I really wish this was disconnected from the BP completely, at least a wall. No one believes when you try to tell them the BP on the corner has the best food. Anyway, this is my little brothers favorite place ever. What'd he want for his birthday dinner? Urban counter!! So finally, I was able to try. The hype is real. The burgers are made fresh and I highly suggest you call to order ahead and make sure they are open. The classic cheeseburger with jalepenos well done was delicious. Burgers are really thick, pickle slices on bottom, topped with cheese, tomato, and onion. Fries are pretty delicious! The standards of gas stations are blown out the window here. The entire place is extremely clean but also top of the line.

I pulled up tonight at around 7:15pm to the drive-thru. The young man at the intercom did not communicate well--meaning I couldn't tell if he was ready to take my order or if he was listening to me even after he told me he was ready--nothing was appearing on the screen until a long delay. I ordered the three $6 All American Smasher Meal as indicated by the flashing signage in front of the restaurant. He charged me the full price which was nearly $12 each. I reiterated to him that the promotional said it was $6. Then he proceeded to charge me just for the sandwiches only. I told him I wanted to the meal, and he said "okay". Upon picking up the order, it was only the sandwiches. I went inside the store and told him I ordered the meal and pointed to the flashing $6 promotional sign. He told me he could not see the sign. I pointed to it and read it to him verbatim. He told me he could not accommodate me. (Offer me the fries or drink, talk to the manager, refund etc.) He told me I would have to contact the corporate offices to complain about the sign. I told him all I wanted him to do was enter my order correctly because I had explicitly told him I wanted the promotional meal. And he froze like a deer in the headlights. I was not rude. But I was certainly confused. I decided the fries and drink weren't worth making him feel more anxious. But the fact that he was not able to get a manager or offer me the promotional after the fact indicates that there are some training issues with that crew tonight. Just wanted managers to correct that!

I said ok let's go by your steps (as I pointed to the posted menu). Step 1. Double or Single I said Single Step 2. If cheese what type. I said cheddar Step (?) She asked if that is a butter burger? I said I do not know I am just following the steps on your sign. She asked again is that a butter burger I said again I do not know, it does not say on your sign. Someone came over to try to salvage the situation. He asked what did I order, I said let's ask her. Some other guy said she is in training. I said great we can all learn together. I asked her what was the first thing I said, she said cheese burger. I said no, that is not what step one asks. Again I asked her, what did I say for step one... Cheese Burger she says... Nope that is not step one. I said what does it say for step 1? I said "Double or Single", I wanted a single. The second person that stepped in to help said let's start over. I said never mind forget it & walked out. Last week I was in there and asked for double onion and double lettuce, once I got past steps 1 & 2. I got the burger and there was NO lettuce!!!! So I was going to ask for it again but do not put the burger together, I want to see it lined up on the try before I take the order. But did not make it that far.
