For a while, I had this thing where I wanted to get something pierced when I got real angsty. Can't blame it on being a teenager since I was in my 20s at that point. Maybe I felt robbed of my stupid-teen years because I was too responsible all throughout? Quarter life crisis? Who the hell knows. Whatever it was, on one of the angst days, I decided to get my nose pierced. I'm gonna throw out an arbitrary number and say it cost $35. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The room was very clean, but, I couldn't help but feel a little nervous. It seem a little TOO clean.. like hospital-sterile-creepy clean. But, once my piercer came in, I felt a little more at ease. That is, until I heard the blood-curdling scream from a room across the way. Turns out, it was her co-worker fucking around for fun. Well, THAT scared me shitless. She was really nice and honest. Instead of asking me which side of my nose I wanted pierced and then poking the fuck out of it, she asked and then gave her objective opinion, even put a mark on it to give an idea as to how it'd look. When I asked if it'd hurt, she said "nah, more like a pinch." She pulled out the tools, all individually wrapped, and then poked me. Not bad, it really was just a pinch. She went over the follow-up care procedures and provided the cleanser and everything. I shoulda listened. Do not be a fucking idiot and stop using the cleanser after a few days because it looked "okay" by your standards. Then you'll look like you got punched in your nose whenever that shit shows signs of infection. It's good now, 2 years later. BUT LISTEN TO THEM WHEN THEY TELL YOU TO CLEAN THAT SHIT FOR A CERTAIN PERIOD. Don't be like me and don't say I didn't warn your ass. read more

We all payed various prices but overall the price for cartilage is 25 and then it depends what jewelry you choose; should come out anywhere from 35-45 (which is still really great). I had a great experience getting an Industrial piercing yesterday! From being greeted, to the end of the process. I didn't catch the woman's name who let me and my friend in and helped us with jewelry but she was amazing! Chelsea did the piercing and she was absolutely great! She explained everything before and even explained as she was piercing. I was a tad nervous as I hadn't had anything pierced for Id say over 5 years. She was quick and it turned out great!!! Just had my nose pierced by Eric and it looks amazing. The piercing was $35 and the jewelry was $13. I was very very nervous for it, but it went very well. Eric explained everything before he was going to do it and that helped a lot. The pierce felt like a painful pinch but other than that it was okay. It felt hot for like 5-10 mins and it feels weird having something in your nose, but it looks great!! Really happy I went here for it. Came here with my friend so that she could get her earrings switched out (only reason why we ended up going here was because Death or Glory was closed). The lady at the register (orange-red hair with bangs) told me that only those that were getting pierced or were getting earrings changed could go inside (I thought she meant behind the counter, not outside OUTSIDE) and I was like okay. I proceeded to sit with my friend at the bench, and she legit calls me out, in front of everyone, from behind the register, saying, "You in the yellow. Are you getting your pierced or your earrings changed? No? Then you have to wait outside. I've told you multiple times." I get that they're taking extra precautions against COVID-19, but dang, you'd think she thought that *I* had the virus (and yes, I am Asian). Had to wait in the cold (and it was raining) for my friend. Listen, I understand the severity of the situation but perhaps she could've clarified that "outside" did not constitute the lobby? She also didn't have to yell at me from behind the counter. She wasn't helping anyone and it's a short distance to the bench so she could've talked to me without embarrassing me in front of everyone else. Even when she was helping my friend, she had a sour attitude and my friend (who is also Asian) said, "I feel discriminated against." Honestly, for such a simple task, you're better off not risking your emotional well-being in being in such a negative environment. Death or Glory is the way to go. I just got my tragus piercing done here yesterday and I absolutely love it! I didn't really do any research before getting the piercing, but seems like everyone in Davis just goes here for tattoos and/or piercings. I'm so sad though because I had a $5 off coupon from campusspecial.com but I forgot to use it :( But anyway, I spent $50. $30 for the service, $10 for the hoop earring, and $7 for the sea salt and the cleaning solution. I signed a waiver and then the piercer promptly brought me into the room. They don't allow pictures/videos. My only complaint is that I wish the piercer was more personable. She did her job, but it would have made me feel better if she reassured me that the piercing wouldn't be too bad after I said that I was nervous LOL. But all in all, I'm satisfied! read more

Absolutely worth your time and money. We came here for nose piercings. McKenzie (excuse me if I spelled that wrong) greeted my sister and I at the door. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The shop is very clean and organized. They definitely take their COVID precautions seriously. I appreciated that on their piercing paperwork that they ask for your pronouns and preferred name (awesome!). Then we went back to get pierced and met our piercer, Chelsea. Chelsea had an awesomely clean set up. Very sterile. Chelsea walked us each through the piercing. My sister went first and I, second. Each step of the process was clearly communicated to us. The piercer was very considerate and made sure I was feeling okay before I left (this was my first piercing besides my ears). I highly recommend this place. Actually at Urban Body, I felt like the store front and just the whole environment was one of the most relaxing, professional, and clean I've been to. And I've been to A LOT of piercing shops. Their collection of jewelry is really great, and they have cases and cases of replacement balls for you to choose from!! Spikes, dices, beach balls, uv balls, gems, etc etc. Internal or externally threaded. 14g or 16g. They have it all. The 3mm balls I got were only 95cents per piece!! A shop in Berkeley sells them for $6 a piece and these two places are the only two I've been to that sells replacement ends. And did I mention that Urban Body have a huge selection??? I didn't want to have to write this review but I want to make sure others don't have the same experience in the future! I went to Urban Body 4 weeks ago to get my nose pierced. The woman at the desk was very nice and helped me in a quick and easy manner. It was the actual piercing and aftermath of it that brought me to write this review. While piercing my nose, the woman had messed up and actually blamed me for it. She told me that I had moved my head, and it was my fault that she had to re-pierce it. She spent a good two minutes trying to do it and get it all in and I was bleeding quite a lot at that point. Having been my first piercing on my face, I didn't really know what to expect or if there were any issues, other than the fact that SHE had messed up and tried to blame me. Fast forward 4 weeks to today, I had gone to Stylz in downtown Sacramento to switch from a stud to a hoop. As the woman was trying to help me out she found many issues with my piercing. 1. It was crooked, making it very difficult to replace the stud to the hoop. 2. It was too high, meaning I can't wear hoops that aren't continuous. 3. I had a clot of blood stuck in my nose!! The piercer had not had me stay there to check for clotting after the piercing. And this could have developed into something more serious if I had not come in when I did. Basically, the piercer messed up, tried to blame me, and did what was convenient to her at the end of the day and I really don't appreciate that! So just be aware of this before coming for any piercing. Two stars for quick and friendly service at the desk. read more

Went to get my friends piercing, piercer was rude from the start. The piercing itself went fine until we got the payment. When we tried to pay, the system was down and would not allow us to pay the full price. The piercer kept trying to blame us saying it was our cards, we tried 3 different cards (between the 2 of us) and nothing was working. Our cards kept saying they were being charged, and when we asked her about it they got extremely defensive and said "we don't know what we're talking about" and was specifically getting aggravated with me (the friend) because I was trying to point out what was wrong. They insisted we couldn't use venmo to pay the remainder, yet at the end pushed us to. When I told my friend to wait to venmo incase her card does get charged, they immediately got frustrated and said "You don't know what you're saying". We left completely unresolved and made us leave my friends ID for a problem that had nothing to do with us. Shitty customer service, cool piercing though. read more

My friends and I (there were 3 of us, two of us tattoo virgins) went in for three different, small tattoos. Jordan was SUCH a great tattoo artist. He was so, so grounded. The first friend that went got lightheaded, and he was totally chill about it (despite the fact that my friend ended up needing 15 minutes to relax enough for Jordan to finish his tattoo). He let us watch him set up (so we could feel comfortable) without us having to ask. One of us asked a ton of questions and Jordan was really nice. I fully recommend this place. He captured the essence of my tattoo really well (it was from an existing illustration), the color looks great, and overall, it was a killer awesome experience, and reasonably priced! read more

I said I'd never be a Yelp-er but my experience was too immaculate to not share. I had went in for an emergency jewelry shopping appointment because my Medusa that I bought was too small and I needed to replace it and I left with brand new and matching Medusa jewelry and new septum jewl to match. When I arrived I was greeted by a welcoming woman covered in beautiful tattoos and I knew immediately I was at the right place. Her name was Regina and immediately her energy gave me ease to ask as many questions as I wanted and to see all the jewelry I needed. Her welcoming spirit made me eager to not just look at Medusa jewelry but explore other gemstone. We then later greeted by another employee named MacKenzie who only added to beautiful energy. I was feeling a bit uneasy because I didn't know all of my measurements for jewelry and they not only helped me pick out the most beautiful and custom jewelry but they also helped me size my jewelry. It was such an euphoric experience to see how excited we all were when we picked jewelry that matched my skin tone and match each other. My biggest thing was that I wanted my septum and medusa to be cohesive and I left with more than than. I left feeling way more beautiful than I came in. Mackenzie was amazing at inspiring me to go bolder with the color choice and they even made it so my jewelry matched each other. Regina did an amazing job with helping me size and replace my old jewelry she was gentle and patient. Overall both of these queens made my experience my favorite piercing experience ever. typically I'm usually the person who goes and grabs what I need and leaves but they both made such a welcoming environment I felt safe to try new jewelry out of my comfortzone and seeing their reactions when my new jewelry was replace made it all more worth it. the jewelry itself as well was in really pristine condition, the waiting area and the display setup were all clean and very thematically setup With tattoo And piercing magazines and equipped with hand sanitizers. this was definitely an experience I couldn't keep to myself and I'm glad that some of my last experiences in Davis could've happened here. Came in to get a double piercing on both ears. I called and asked how the system worked during COVID and found it, due to the pandemic it was an appointment only system. I set up my piercing appointment a week from the day I called. They told me I would have to pay a $20 fee over email which I would be reimbursed for after the piercing. I showed up for my appointment a little early and met with friendly staff who walked me through the paperwork and my choices for my piercing. After taking my temperature, filling everything out, and picking my jewelry, I went to the back with Regina who was going to be performing the piercing. She was so nice and talked me through every step. It was seamless and almost painless! She gave me a packet on aftercare and her card so I could message her for any questions or concerns I had. I've been to urban body two times: the first time was for a tragus piercing and the second time for a forward helix piercing. Both of my piercings were done by different people, but I had a great experience with both of them. Everything was a smooth process, which helps so much when you're a bit anxious about piercing pains lol I love how the person at the front was honest with me about whether I could have an industrial or not. I know a lot of people who love this shop and I've tried so hard to like this place, but my overall opinion is that it does not live up to SF (my hometown) piercing shop standards and I've been disappointed by them a few times. Let me explain... I've only been here for jewelry changes 3 times and I've only been satisfied once 1. (2011) I had my tragus piercing in for a year and didn't take care of it, it had that ugly red bump on both sides. I mangled the CBR I was pierced with to an oval shape with pliers and they helped me get it out and put in a nice long labret with a ball top. Ugly, but not as ugly as my ear. I asked for titanium but they only had steel. Ok, fine. My ear eventually healed with seal salt soaks and I changed out that earring for a prettier titanium one is SF (Braindrops, highly recommend). 2. (2012) I wanted to change my 2 year old helix barbell to a longer labret since I had a bump in the back from the barbell being too tight and wanted to be able to sleep on my side. They told me my hair would get caught in the labret (can't confirm either way) and talked me into a CBR after assuring me my hair brush wouldn't get caught in it. For a year, low and behold, every day and night my hair brush would get caught in it and yank my ear. I eventually retired the piercing, I never liked it anyways. *I told myself I wouldn't go back, ...but they have coupons and my pierce-happy friend raved about urban body and told me everything she had done was from here, how much loved them and their titanium jewelry. Ok fine, I'll reconsider...* 3. (2017) My 6 year old tragus labret fell out so I went here out of desperation instead of waiting for the weekend to go to SF. I asked for a titanium post. They say they don't have any titanium, only stainless steel. Ok, whatever. The woman who changed my jewelry just dipped everything in alcohol for 1 sec (I'm used to others letting it soak for a bit, and as a microbiologist I'd feel more confident about the sterility if they let it sit a little longer) and asked me if I preferred a shorter bar and I said yeah. She grabbed a post out of the drawers, WITHOUT MEASURING IT to see if it would fit my fat ear and put it in. I immediately thought it was too short but hoped for the best. It was very snug and occasionally itched. Only 3 weeks later, my ear pushed the two pieces apart and my earring fell out. I looked in the mirror and the area where the top had been was very red, itchy, and irritated. As I thought, it was too short. I sighed and told myself I am never going here again... for real this time. read more

Walked in here spur of the moment to get my nipple pierced. I'd been wanting to do it and just said... fuck it! The person at the counter was sort of standoffish, not exactly rude but not exactly welcoming. The piercer himself was a little creepy. He made numerous sexual or suggestive jokes while my top was off. Including one about him getting to second base and when I said it hurt a little right when it happened but was over quickly he said "that's what all the ladies say!" I was very shocked by this and he even said it in front of two of my friends who were in the room with me. Thank god I didn't go in alone. (I am a minor) my mom was willing to get the piercing for me, she just wanted to ask ask a few questions. we had both talked to Regina who was going to pierce me, and even Regina was on the side that I shouldn't get the piercing because it was summer time and I wouldn't be able to go in the pool, or ocean. regina had acted like she lost business so she was sending mixed signals. You are not allowed to ask questions or get a consultation, and if so and you decide to opt out you will still be charged for the piercing time. and Cynthia had said we wasted their time, and still tried to say "come back when youre 18" and tried to make my mom the bad guy. all in all, even if their piercings are good, the attitude is awful here and you should not come because it is NOT a safe environment, especially if you want ask a damn question first. and Cynthia, if you're reading this I just hope that you go out of business. read more

Lemme preface this by saying 20 mins earlier I walked into Death or Glory for a consultation for a future tattoo and had an amazing experience but wouldn't be able to do the tattoo till April, so I thought maybe to go to Urban Body to see what they can come up with. I walked in for a second, sort of nervous, explained to the guy what I wanted, exactly how I explained it at Death or Glory and the guy, who was extremely uninterested, with an "f" off attitude, told me my idea wouldn't work well as a tattoo.... without letting me explain what I wanted. The guys as Death or Glory took my idea, and found a way to make it into a tattoo. Never walking into Urban Body again, and would not recommend anyone looking for their first tattoo to do so. read more

I didn't even have an appointment but they made a spot for me because they could see I needed help. They explained how the jewelry was too short which caused the swelling and switched it out to a longer one. They were so helpful and answered all my questions. read more
