I booked appointments for five people, and it was an amazing experience! The front desk lady (I didn't catch her name, but she had the snake bite piercing) was incredible--she managed five of us at once while helping us pick out jewelry, walking us through waiver forms, and answering all our questions. She was super patient and friendly the whole time! Our piercer, Skyla Moser, was AMAZING and especially patient with me. This was my first piercing as an adult (just getting my seconds on my ear lobe done), and I was full of anxiety and worry. Skyla made the entire process as painless and comforting as possible. The person in the front who I believe is the manager and responds to most of the yelp comment lacks basic customer service skills. I came in for jewelry as I have gotten all my piercings here within the last 10 years. When I went in I was touching my piercing (surface tragus) because that's what I normally do. She immediately said "don't do that" I continued scratch because it had been itchy around my face. She stated "I can't legally let you touch your piercing in here". I was confused on why she was addressing me as if I a child. The professionalism was atrocious. As a business owner I understand not wanting legal issues, but as a customer, please learn how to address people when those concerns arise. I would not recommend this place. Edit: Instead of business owner, correcting their behavior and professionalism, they say sorry that was offensive to you. Owner should take some accountability, there's multiple people that have had negative experiences with her. Owner rarely takes accountability in her responses. Absolute disaster that left me in the ER getting emergency surgery and now I'm left with a huge bill from the hospital. Went in for a dermal removal and my piercer was visibly stressed out and rushing. She yanked on it so hard while rushing that the metal actually snapped in half, leaving the bar still in my face. She told me to go to the Emergency room ASAP before my skin grows over the bar. I was crying and in such pain from her pulling on it so hard. Went to the Emergency room and got emergency surgery to remove it. Now I'm left with a huge scar, bigger than what it needed it be. Left with a huge medical bill. Avoid at all costs. I'm very upset about the experience. No one contacted me after telling me to go to the ER. read more

Wow- glad to see urban body is still going strong. Not sure if its operated by the original owners who opened the store around 2003 , but I had my first "freshman-year-of-college-away-from-my-parents " body piercings here in 2004 (belly button with my friend) and again in 2008/2009 (nose ring) and they're still going strong and were perfectly placed by the owner. I'm really new to the piercing game. Having gotten my ears pierced when I was an infant, I haven't been anywhere near a piercing shop since then. It was definitely time to change that though, and in my Yelp search, I came across this local shop. They have a convenient online scheduling platform and I was easily able to select the type of piercing and time slot that I wanted. My sister-in-law signed up for an appointment near mine, then decided she didn't want to go through with it and cancelled. That morning, she changed her mind and spoke with the shop. They were so kind and allowed her to get a piercing at my appointment, just requesting that we come in a bit earlier and already have our consents filled out. Beware if you sign up for a weekend appointment though, because downtown parking can get rough! All of the jewelry they sell in-house is made of titanium, with the exception of some gold pieces. I opted for a titanium stud with a gemstone. My sister-in-law got a nose ring. The shop itself is really cute, with a boho chic feel and a handful of plants. The piercing rooms are small but clean. Regina did my piercing and she was knowledgeable and kind. She explained everything she was doing, I only wish she had explained each step a few moments in advance versus as she was doing it. I do think that's just my personal preference though. She told us she is currently the only piercer there. The nose piercing process was very fast, clean, and mostly painless. At the front desk, they sell bottles of saline spray to keep the piercing site clean. Overall, it was a really smooth process, from check-in to piercing to payment. Regina gave us her card and told us to contact her with any questions. I actually called the shop a few days after my appointment to ask about "normal" healing for my piercing site. The lady I spoke with on the phone was super knowledgeable and encouraged me to call back with any more questions. I got both nostrils done here in February after never having anything other than my earlobes done in the past. They were done by Regina, who was super kind, and they were done perfectly. She walked me through the whole thing, let me see the spots in a mirror (we ended up moving them around a little) and was very professional. At my 4th week (still healing), the little ball on the horseshoe jewelry came off and luckily I caught it. I couldn't seem to get it on myself and I was nervous about messing up my healing. I stopped by the shop without an appointment and they squeezed me in last minute and helped out. So I went to urban body to get my lobe re-pierced and the lady who pierced me didn't make the right call. She pierced my ear too high up in the back and it was was making the piercing look like it was pointing down. the picture shows the difference on where I got my ear re-pierced for the third time at a better place in Sacramento. wouldn't really recommend everybody unless there's someone else there. Chelsea was so amazing and gentle. I thought my daith and tragus closed up after a year of not wearing the piercings but this piercer was able to find them and place the jewelry in without repiercing. Incredible work! I have been pierced by Chelsea, Eric and Regina....all are professional and have been great. Eric has even helped me with a few piercings I had done somewhere else. I have 7 tattoos..with another in progress...all done by Jason. I obviously am a fan of his work, but also his work ethic. He is professional, up front and honest...will give me his feedback when I'm asking about a design or placement. I totally trust him and his judgement. I had my septum piercing done here a few years ago, and had a decent experience with their piercer. Nearly painless and he was sure to explain the procedures for caring for the wound afterwards thoroughly. My tattoo experience was horrible. Came in with two of my friends and the tattoo artist condescendingly talked down to us. We showed him what we wanted and he impatiently and rudely told us that it wasn't going to work because of size. Okay, that's fine. You can ask us to scale it up but his words more along the lines of "I'm not doing that. You'll thank me in 20 years. Uhh, can you make up your mind already? I know what's gonna look good when your skin is older, and I'm not doing any piece that's gonna look like a blob later." This is a permanent marking on our bodies so, yeah we're gonna take our sweet time choosing what we want. What a joke. read more

I finally decided to get another lobe piercing on my left ear and my sis told me this place was good. I headed over Saturday evening and there were a couple of people ahead of my sis and I. Looking around it's a small joint but clean and well kept. The lady at the front gave us our forms to sign our lives away and then we chose our jewelry and waited. And waited. Which was fine there were three peeps in front of us. Even though Eric, the piercer, was busy, he took his time with each client and didn't rush. I've gotten 6 of my 9 piercings (my 2nd lobes, 2 helix, nose, and conch) here over the past few years and have always had such a great experience! My lobes were done 4 years ago, both cartilage in the past two years, and nose and conch done today. After another shop was too busy to redo my nose (that had closed accidentally due to the gap in a hoop), I went straight here today. There were two other people ahead of me but they were very efficient without rushing! While I was waiting, I looked at the jewelry selection since I was on the fence about doing my conch and the front desk manager (I forget her name) convinced me that it would look great and I agree, so I decided to do it. Eric is great-- the piercings were damn near painless and he is super fast! He is also very thorough with aftercare instructions! The prices and cost of jewelry are very reasonable as well. I was wandering thru Davis today and thought that it would be fun to do something impulsive. I entrusted Yelp for my impromptu search and up came Urban Body. I looked thru a couple of reviews and into the shop I go! No regrets, no regrets!!!! Deep breaths, Deep breaths!!!! I was going to get a Monroe and a helix piercing but went the safe route with just a helix because I didn't know much about this place. I also wanted to balance my ears out (now I have a helix on both ears) and have something to compliment my Tragus. Everyone in the shop was super informative, knowledgable, friendly, and most importantly welcoming. All my questions about tattoos and piercings were answered and I had fun talking to everyone in the shop. Lots of laughs and jokes were being thrown around. My piercing was relatively painful XD ( thought it would hurt less if I tipped!!! LOL) Overall, I had a great experience here and would definitely recommend Urban Body for your piercing and tattoo needs. I will definitely be back... Maybe even tomorrow for a impromptu tattoo? Update on my piercing: it couldn't heal properly because the stud they gave me had a small ball backing.
