You can order the pizza through your bartender and they will bring the pizza right to you. The building is super cool - it is actually an old church and you can schedule a tour of the building (we did not take a tour). What a cool event venue! I got to see the inside for the first time last night. They definitely go for the shabby chic look - all the stained glass windows were removed by the previous owners and there is paint peeling from the ceiling. But it still has beautiful, blonde wood floors and they've strung up festive strands of lights! Our party was quite small which made the room feel particularly spacious. Even with large tables, a bar, a lounge corner and a band playing! The most this venue holds I think is 220. The bathrooms are downstairs in what I assume is the bar space that is open to the general public. Tables and chairs aren't included with the base rental price. It's $10/guest. You're welcome to use an outside provider, but I would recommend using theirs. Their tables are made by a local artist. They are the same size as the usual circle, Event tables. But the wood they're made of is so very beautiful that there'd be no need to rent table cloths! The chairs aren't foldable, but rather very stylish and sturdy, and a bright copper cooler that looks perfect with the venue! This could be a tough space for a caterer as they don't have a very big kitchen and no elevator. I would think that very little could be made fresh on-site. read more

Looking for a good time, I found this place with a sixteen piece big band for free on a Wednesday night. Since they have a taproom in the basement of the old church there are plenty of beer choices. I can't say that I'm crazy about any of them. I do like the venue and the set up. They even had board games to play with and kids were there too. I was disappointed to find there was no dancing involved and the snacks were 25¢ bags of chips and peanuts that were sold for $1. The flight of for beers was only $8. I like to try new things so I tried most of them. I really liked the venue. I'd like a tour of the place. Playing the games during the band performance was really fun. We went to Urban Artifact after enjoying their Pinwheel beer at one of our local restaurants. We were interested in checking out their other sour beers, make sure you like sour brews if you are checking their place out. When we arrived it was busy, but not crowded. It took 10-15 minutes to get our first drink which was a bit frustrating considering we were right up at the bar. Eventually once the server saw us it didn't take long to get our second round. We ordered a flight to try as many options as possible and didn't really love any of the selections. On our next order I went with my standby and my fiancé ordered the IPA and he didn't love it. He however doesn't love tart/sour beers to begin with so I was not super shocked that it wasn't his favorite. The vibe was neat, it was located in an old Catholic Church. The side room which typically looks like it is used for music was reserved for a private party as well as the space upstairs. I would have loved to see that space because it looked really neat from peeking from the outside! The bathrooms were a bit on the yucky side. The smell was not great when first entering and most of the toilets appeared to not be flushing all the way when I went in. I get that there can be issues, but gross! Stopped in here for a quick beer on Sunday afternoon. Loved the feel and look of the old church. The bar is in the basement where they have seating and a live music venue type area. They have the bands on the chalk board so you can check out what's playing for the month. Bartender was very friendly and let me try a couple beers before picking one. The restrooms were also very clean and there were 8 women's stalls!! Also really loved the outdoor area, Adirondack chairs, corn-hole and picnic tables. Very cool place!! read more

I always have a good experience at Urban Artifact. It is worth driving out of the way for. I have been here for several events (upstairs) but most recently came to enjoy the taproom (downstairs) on a weekday afternoon. The space is built out in an old, beautiful church. The upstairs is the event space, and the downstairs is the regular taproom. Outside there is a huge yard/patio area to enjoy during the nicer weather. The concept for the beer here is sours... and they use a ton of real fruit in their beers. The lifetime poundage of fruit is proudly displayed below their beer list. I am not a huge sour fan, but I can always find something I like here. The bartenders are awesome and helpful with great knowledge of beer. There is plenty of seating at the bar as well as tables. Keep an eye out for many special events such as beer pairings. Food is available from the adjacent Wildfire pizza (which I have yet to try). read more

If you love sour beers, or beers that think a little bit outside of whatever box you imagine beer in, this is the place for you. Located in an unassuming church basement in Northside, there isn't much that meets the eye for this brewery. You follow this chute with Urban Artifact painted on the walls that lead to this door on the side of what equates to the basement of the church. You enter and you find the taproom molded into what remains of the basement with a half dozen tables and a bar in addition to the music/performance area that can be curtained off. The decorations are unassuming, and all the furniture appears to be bought second hand, giving some degree of charm. What's on tap is listed on a chalkboard that can be hard to read if it's written in too similar of a color. The beer, however, I love. I adore sour beers, and I love brewers that really experiment with different flavors. I could go on and on, so I'll just say that I especially love the way they make fruit tarts. Luckily Urban Artifact is gaining traction in stores so you can buy some six packs! Urban Artifact is somewhere I wish I had discovered sooner. It might get a little chilly in the winter, but it keeps cool in the summer. If you like beer, it would behoove you to check this place out. read more

I made a last minute Sunday day-trip to Cincinnati to have lunch with some family. I figured I might as well find a couple other things to do after eating, and Claire B recommended Urban Artifact because she know I like sours. Well recommended, friend! We stopped in on a warm Sunday afternoon. There is free parking in the street around the old church that houses this brewery and performance venue. There are a couple beer bars/breweries that have popped up in old and former churches in Louisville, so I was also interested in checking one out in Cinci. It's cozy and comfortable feeling inside, and there are some picnic tables and chairs set up outside, should the weather be cooperative. We ordered at the bar. All of us chose to get a flight. $8 to sample four different beers. Not a bad price. And they have some interesting options! I tried the Chariot (tart cherry gose), Keypunch (key lime gose), Whirligig (wild blueberry ale) and the milk stout. I like the first three a LOT, but the blueberry ale was my favorite! The stout got better as it warmed up. I also had a sip of the pickle gose....and unless you like drinking straight up pickle juice....avoid that. As Brad G mentioned, the outdoor area/courtyard could benefit from more shade. But it wasn't terrible. And if I lived in Cinci, I could see myself being here often! I fully intend to come back on my next trip into Ohio! read more

I absolutely love sour beers. Anytime we travel, my husband and I like to try local brews. Urban Artifact came through 100%. They had about 12 different sours on tap to choose from and every one of them was delicious. We ended up getting some cans to take back home with us. I was also very pleased with their social distancing efforts. All of the employees also wore masks. Lastly, I love that it is in an old church. The architecture is fantastic! read more

Only my first visit here on a recommendation from a friend. Great party/social atmosphere! Concert like environment when bands are playing. I was recommended here based on their beer. More specific they're sour beers. I got a growler of the Chariot to go. While the sour was there it lacked in fruit/cherry flavor (little bland for me). I guess I was expecting a lot more as multiple friends have talked this place up. I will be back to give it a second try. I can't believe as much as I've heard they don't serve great beer. CHEERS! So many aspects of Urban Artifact have me captivated. First impression: Beautiful, hip, unique Second impression: Entertaining, welcoming, delicious Basically, it's really great and cool. Good beers, mostly sours (except when they have a guest beer, then it seems to be something other than sour to treat all of the taste buds). It's in a great location in Northside, outside of the business of the main street (though Northside is barely ever "busy-busy"). When I heard they opened up a Brewery in Northside, I could not wait to visit and try their beers. Taproom is in the church which was first known as St. Patrick, then, later, St. Pius X. Loved the stained glass, and the preserved Maple flooring. The 1930s lamps and iron radiators that were once used to heat the basement have become fixtures in the tap room. What to expect at this brewery is tart and wild beers which is brewed with wild yeast, bacteria or both. The bartender was VERY helpful and let us sample the beers before we made our decision. I ended up with the Kodiak which is best described as a tart brown ale. They have homemade syrups (raspberry or regular) at the bars that you can squirt and stir to your liking. This helps takes the tartness away. My second favorite is also their Coffee Kodiak (love the smell of the fresh coffee aroma on the beer). My husband had the barrel-aged Kentucky. I liked their beers, but I can only drink one. Let's just say you have to have an acquired taste for sour beers. I enjoyed my time there and would return. It is very spacious and has plenty of seating (you can bring food inside as well). The setting/mood of the bar is relaxing/ laid back. They mentioned that are going to have more selections of beers. As a sour beer enthusiast, this brewery was on my Cincinnati bucket list, and it did not disappoint! The tasting room and music hall is located in the bottom of an old church and has a chill vibe. Lots of space, old tile, old pews for benches, and board games to play while you enjoy your drinks! I got a flight of 4 beers so that I could try a variety of their selections that were new to me. All of them were fun, but if you're not into sours and unique flavors, this might not be the place for you. My go to favorite here is Pinwheel, which is a kumquat gose. Well...I was excited to try this new barewery or whatever you want to call these craft beer "warehouses" popping up all over town. The location is quite interesting with it being an old church. The bar is in the basement with an entrance from the side. They also have a roped off area with grass and a fire pit where you can enjoy your beverage outdoors. I think this could be very fun in the evenings and would like to come back to experience this. This is a new place, and my review doesn't exactly take this into consideration. I expect it to increase as a few things get sorted out. For example, there's a lot of space in the open area around the bar, but seating and bar tops are sparse and a bit of an odd choice. For example, there are a couple longer stand-up counter tops in the middle, with long benches next to the walls (but no tables for your drinks. Then there is a live entertainment area that is easily 50% of the total space with small tables and chairs set up. However, I'd guess they would want some area potentially for dancing...Though I do think the live music is a nice touch. The menu behind the bar is hard to read and even harder to understand. Not everything is listed and there is a lot going on. First off, they have the "tart" section which is expected to be kept fairly standard. They have a few different styles here and all are very sour. Not a little sour. Very sour. I'm not a huge sour beer fan, so I would struggle to drink all night or come back often if this is the only option. Sure, they offer a variety of flavored syrup water in squeezable condiment style plastic containers. I'm just not much of a fan of ordering a sour beer and then squeezing syrup into it. One of these is a coffee kodiak which was more tart than coffee to me. I didn't exactly enjoy it and I typically love coffee beer. The other side of the bar menu is "wild" which is a collection of one off beers and ideas they are testing. They had one that was infused with fir needles and tasted a bit like drinking a sour Christmas tree. That was some people's thing, but I guess it wasn't mine. They also had one called Thoroughbred which was aged in a bourbon barrel. This was one of your more "normal" or conventional style beers and they desperately need more options like this to draw a diverse, regular crowd after the sour beer + syrup novelty wears off. It was delicious! It tasted like some poured a shot of bourbon into my beer. Unfortunately it was sold out after one glass. They informed me that all the bourbon barrel aged beers sold out rapidly. I mentioned this was a good opportunity to learn their customers' preferences and cater to them. They have some non alcoholic beverages such as ginger ale on tap, hop water, coffee and a few others. They also have nitro beer, which I'm not a huge fan of, but it does add a creaminess to the beer. But, bitter and sour and creamy isn't really my thing either. The food options were virtually non-existent which is a problem many of these bar breweries have in common. I'm guessing they will often have a food truck outside? You can taste the beer, but tastes are $2 ea. Also, this was not clear on the menu, but they offer flights of beer which are reasonable and help you decide what you like. Overall, we had a good bit of beer, we all found at least one thing we enjoyed and didn't end up spending all that much. There is some charm in all the reused/reclaimed items, like keeping the kitchen vent hood over the toilets in the men's restroom, or the old radiators along the bar front. I'm guessing that they can easily make this a great spot with a few minor tweaks. read more

I never considered myself to be a sour beer fan until Urban Artifact. Their sour ales are some of the best I've tried. I'm a fan of the Keypunch, the lime gose is mildly tart, to me anyway. I like lime, a lot. I also like their pickle beer. As bizarre as it sounds this stuff is actually really really good. They also feature a special "parfait beer" on Saturdays. I'm a big fan of Urban Artifact. In wandering around with a friend a few months ago, we ended up inside- trying beer, taking a tour, and generally feeling energized by this newly established brewery. The tap room is part music venue with stage, part hang out space. There are stools at the bar, tables near the walls, and places to stand. I've only ever come by at 'off' times for a bar crowd- but it's been lovely. I like sours and less traveled beer profiles, so the beer is a big hit for me. I like the idea of the flavored syrups in case sours are not your jam, but I didn't really know how to use them and not ruin my drink, so keep that in mind. My most recent trip here a few weeks ago was for an afternoon out with my husband. We played games, sampled some brews, and colored (that may be for kids, but grandma had our son and it seemed like a good use of my time to space out, without just sleeping on the bar top!). My husband isn't as big a fan of the sour style, but he found a few he did like. I think it's wise that there are guest taps and the root beer, in case you just aren't finding something to suit your pallet. In sum, I'll be back for more beer and another low key time in the church basement. read more

If you want inventive beers and great live music, Urban Artifact is your place! Music-- they have a great variety that is representative of the diversity of Northside and aren't afraid to stray off the path either. It seems like as long as a new or unheard of band can at least generate some crowd, you can book there. Weekend acts pack the place and I have yet to be disappointed (sometimes it isn't what I'm in the mood for, but they aren't bad). Decor-- this place is simple and no frills. The bar tops are my favorite. I have also never waited to pee here. Ladies, let me repeat-- there usually isn't a bathroom line even in a packed house! It's amazing! The outside beer garden is awesome too! It's on the lawn between the old church and the old rectory and I just love having the grass. It feels much classier to be drinking over grass rather than dirty gravel. I can pretend I'm day-drinking at a classy party and not for the 3rd time this week at the bar :) BEER!-- everyone seems to think they ONLY have sours, but that just isn't true. AND you shouldn't knock all sour beers based on just one lousy experience. My husband favors the sours (Finn is his go-to) but I love the wilds. If you are a fan of the yeasty, bready, funky flavors of wheats and wits, you would enjoy the wilds. Thoroughbred is my all-time favorite but it's seasonal. Clothesline is my go-to. If they had an IPA that could stand up to Truth they would instantly become the best brewery in Cincinnati. They need to talk to Bell's since Two-Hearted is a freakin juggernaut. As it stands Urban Artifact is intriguing to a remarkable degree. They have a couple outstanding sours (the Squeezebox is downright cheerful). Their IPAs are overbearing, though; a bit abrasive. I don't mind bitter hoppiness, but it's a sort of intense pine/grapefruit flavor that doesn't create balance. The old church setting itself is brilliant. The long, whole-tree-slice tables are beautiful. Vaulted, arched ceilings upstairs produce an incredible ambience. There isn't any food on hand except some delicious cookies, but a few places deliver to the bar. read more

I came here not knowing what the building looked like, and walking up to a former church brought delight to me. This is a sour beer mecca and a great place to satisfy your sour cravings if you're visiting the Queen City. I took advantage of the flights and enjoyed all that they had to offer, especially the Gyroscope. I was there on Saturday, and each week they do a "parfait" beer, which is exactly how it sounds. It's practically a drinkable dessert. If you're a fan of sours or fruit beers like I am, you wouldn't want to miss this place. But if you don't like those types of beers, I'd recommend skipping this joint as sours are not for everyone. read more

This is a great addition to the Cincinnati Brew Scene with it's unique offering of sour and wild beers. They have a PBR option for those who just can't find something on the menu to drink, but I think that if you look hard enough, even those who don't like sours will something drinkable. The space, in a church basement is well done and a pretty solid music venue. The bathrooms are great! They do have live music almost every night (it seems), so this can impact crowds. But, the space is segmented in a way that you can be there, playing a board game on the other end of the tap room while music is playing. There's some outdoor seating, which I'm hopeful will grow as they finish up the venue space in the church itself. A great addition to Northside. This brewery is in an old church. It's really cute. The staff was helpful. My husband loves their beer. We were at the taping of the beer Missing Link. It tasted good to me and my husband and many others loved it. I however, had a sore throat after the second sip. The sore throat stopped when I stopped drinking it. This brew is made with a 150 year old yeast. So I guess I have an allergy to it. Any way it was fun and it tasted good! Disappointed I had to have my husband drink he. He was happy! read more

KEY LIME PIE beer?! Color me impressed. This spot is home to a wide collection of sour beers that are sour yet smooth at the same time. Everything from raspberry blackberry to pink guava, they have thought of every fruit palate possible. I am personally partial to the Gadget and Keypunch beers. They do serve some food but not much. The seating is first come first serve. The drinks are not to pricey most are $6 a glass if you hav there growler you can get it refilled. The beers were great. First time I had a Bloody Mary sour beer and it was incredible. A lot of interesting assortment of beers on tap. The setting was very unusual but interesting. The taproom is in the basement of a church building. Ample seating and a nice bar area. It looked like there may have been a stage in the back area but was not sure. I was able to get 4oz pours to try some of the different beers and was not forced into getting a larger beer I might not like. I have had the pleasure of visiting Urban Artifact twice now on two separate trips to Cincinnati, and let me just say that both nights were awesome. Not only does Urban Artifact produce some of the best sour beers but they also have live music almost every single night which makes this a perfect stop for any evening. Urban Artifact is located in the basement of an old church, however, their taproom is more than adequate to handle craft beer lovers along with some live music lovers all in the same venue. However, should the inside get a little too crowded for your tastes, there is an outside patio that is perfect for that spending an evening under the stars. Even though the beer here has a heavy focus on the sour side, they still have almost something for everyone. During my first visit, I tried their Warmug, which is a Golden Fruited Coffee Sour Ale which has hints pf peaches, passion fruits, plums and of course coffee. While I am usually not a coffee fan I can tell you that I was tempted by this beer. I also went with their Sliderule, which is a Sour Raspberry Dark Sour, which was just as tasty as the Warmug. When I returned I knew that I had to branch out so I went with a flight, which consisted of four 5oz tasters, and sampled a variety of their beers, not a bad one in the mix. Overall Urban Artifact is right up there as one of my favorite sour breweries, and a certainly a must for anyone living in or visiting Cincinnati. read more
