Facility is huge with many options. Went for a kid's birthday party and there were many parties going on. Felt like we lost 20 minutes in play time because host took a very long time checking in people. There was a confusion on where to meet/check in for birthday party. Go kart, laser tag, trampoline, and more. Go Kart employees could use some training on how to talk to little kids, as 2 kids from our party ended up crying because they were yelled at.

This place is HUGE. I think it's impossible for any kid to get bored in this place. There is so much to do from zip lines, to climbing to go carts to laser tag. The list goes on. And it's new so the place is clean. My daughter was here for a birthday and is already asking to come back.

This place is an anxious parent's worst nightmare. Why? 1. The sign-in/registration/waiver/entrance area is entirely disorganized and confusing. Why are there so many lines? Does it matter which line I stand in? Do I sign the waiver before or after I pay for a ticket? 2. The lights are dimmed throughout the facility, making it hard to find your kiddo(s) as they run from trampoline to ball pit to food court to bumper cars. 3. The microphone the attendants use to make birthday party announcements (e.g., "Members of Kaylee's birthday parties: head up to room 6) wasn't working well both times we were at Urban Air; the microphone cut out during crucial parts of messages. 3. The weekends are jam-packed with kids; I highly doubt the fire codes for each section are enforced. 4. The play area that is labeled for younger kids (on the east side of the building, in the front) didn't have a staff member supervising, so older/bigger kids were dominating the space. And now, the worst part: 4. The ball pit, where my own kids wanted to spend the most time, was an absolute trainwreck. I'm sure it's awesome for kids but trying to keep track of a child from the outside is panic inducing. 4a. The "room" is enclosed with a fine mesh, making it hard to see through. 4b. The area's lights cycle through deep hues, making the already-dim atmosphere even more problematic. 4c. The music is loud enough that the kids inside can't really hear people on the outside of the ball pit. 4d. The area is set up as a sort of "ninja" race, with four or five tracks that are meant to be traveled in only one direction. One or two attendants stand at the end of the "course" to shovel balls back into the pit and, I guess, enforce rules with their whistles, but the music is loud enough that no one pays any attention. So kids are kinda doing whatever they want--throwing balls at each other, climbing and jumping off things they shouldn't be, stalling at the halfway point, going backward through the course, etc. 4e. The white balls look like a ton of fun--but your kiddo, no matter how large, can dip into them well enough to completely disappear. I swear I'm not "that mum", but I could nearly feel the cortisol coursing through my veins as older kids jumped into the balls where I'd just seen a child disappear into. *Someone is going to get trampled in there.* There's gotta be some redeeming qualities, right? 1. The ropes course (a higher ticket tier) looks super fun. 2. The bumper cars area, though small and quick per session, is something you probably won't get hurt doing--although one of my kids got trapped in one because they couldn't open the seatbelt and the attendant didn't come around to check that everyone had vacated their seats. 3. Go karts are cool (a higher ticket tier), and there's a huge track. But hey, the rumour is that Urban Air is applying for a liquor license so when that goes through, you can get tipsy while your child drowns in the ball pit and gets a head injury.

    What a mess!!

I'm so glad we tested Urban Air Glenview before booking my son's birthday party, because this place is completely mismanaged. From start to finish, the experience was frustrating and disappointing. First, the check-in process is a mess. After waiting in line, I was told I needed to sign a waiver first--something that could have easily been communicated with a clear sign or staff direction before standing in line. Instead, I had to waste more time, complete the waiver, and then start the line all over again. Second, the staff seems to make up rules as they go. I saw kids clearly under the height requirement for driving individual go-karts cutting the line because they were related to a staff member--completely unfair to paying guests. On top of that, some parents were allowed to drive without purchasing a parent ticket, while others were told they couldn't. It's confusing, inconsistent, and unprofessional. Considering the high cost, the lack of organization and favoritism is unacceptable. I understand the location is new, but that's no excuse for such poor management. I will definitely be steering clear of Urban Air Glenview in the future it's simply not worth it.

It is a gorgeous old mansion with deep roots; the manager (Gretchen) is kind, reliable, and so easy to work with; the preferred caterer we used (Catering by Michaels) was raved about by our guests; and the gift of bringing your own alcohol was huge. Our guests kept commenting on the uniqueness of the space, how great it was to have a pianist playing during our cocktail hour on the first floor, and how joyful and bright the ballroom looked. It was honestly beyond anything I imagined. A few extra things of note - our guests stayed at the Graduate Evanston which is barely a block away (no shuttles needed!); there is a huge parking garage across the street so nobody was looking for parking; and have I mentioned how beautiful the space is? I wish I had a reason to throw a huge event again - I would go back to the Women's Club every time. Huge thank you to Gretchen and her team!

The space is gorgeous on its own -- not a blank slate at all -- so we didn't need nearly as many decorations or flowers as we did at other venues we considered. Our guests raved all day about how beautiful and unique the building was. One of the biggest advantages is that the entire venue is yours for the day. There are no other weddings or events happening at the same time, which makes everything feel calm, special, and centered on your celebration. We had a Sunday brunch wedding, held our ceremony downstairs (very cozy and intimate), and our reception upstairs in the ballroom. The flow between spaces was seamless, and the ballroom floor is amazing for dancing. The sound system was excellent -- speeches and music were crystal clear. Gretchen was wonderful to work with throughout the planning process. She provided vendor recommendations, kept us on track to meet deadlines, and answered all of our questions. We used J&L Catering for our food and Schaffer's for alcohol, and both were excellent and the liquor from Schaffer's was a significant cost savings. Another huge bonus: so many essentials are included with the rental, such as tables, chairs, silverware, and plates. At other venues, those items can be surprisingly expensive to source. Logistically, this location is hard to beat. There are several hotels and great restaurants within walking distance, making it incredibly easy for our out-of-town guests to enjoy an entire weekend in Evanston. Our local guests appreciated that parking is free in Evanston on Sundays and close to the venue. There are also plenty of bathrooms on the same floors where all the events take place -- a small detail that makes a big difference for guest comfort. Finally, it felt meaningful to support a historic building and philanthropic organization rather than a large hotel chain. Overall, we highly recommend The Woman's Club of Evanston as a premier wedding venue in the greater Chicagoland area. We couldn't imagine having celebrated anywhere else.

My experience has been extremely frustrating due to the lack of follow-through and professionalism regarding payment obligations. I always prefer to handle business matters privately and professionally, but after exhausting those efforts, I felt it was important to share my experience so others can make informed decisions when considering doing business with this company.

Wonderful dining -- casual attire but a nice menu; phenomenal service, and plenty of TVs and an activity room available to keep kids occupied. Tennis. Paddle tennis (one of the biggest programs in the US apparently, with a relatively recently rebuilt paddle hut that is spacious, well appointed, and has a regular bartender). A well appointed and maintained fitness center with personal training, classes, massage, and all of what you'd expect at a fitness club. A four lane 25-yard swimming pool that is surprisingly underutilized much of the time...and also features a kids' swim team that has become competitive among the North Shore programs. 18 holes of par 3 golf -- fun, family friendly, and again, without the pretense or expense of a "big time" golf club...and still with leagues, lessons, and events. The real showpieces of the Club, though, are the beach and lake open from Memorial Day through Labor Day (sometimes a little earlier and a little later depending upon weather). Sailing. Kayaks. Pedal boats. Paddle boarding. Swimming (some triathletes train by swimming around the lake -- it's about a mile around). Catch and release fishing (mostly for the kids). An adults-only area. A super casual beach cafe. Unsurprisingly, servers who'll deliver soft and adult beverages to your chair. A recently launched outdoor bar that complements the outdoor dining, weather permitting, in the warm weather, with lovely views of the lake and surrounding areas. Along with that, there are myriad family oriented and adults-only events, from bingo nights (really -- and they're a riot) to a "turn back the clock" New Year's Eve party where "midnight" is nine pm to the expected holiday events (gingerbread houses, caroling dinners, St. Pat's, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.). Breathtakingly good and popular 4th of July fireworks (usually on the 3rd) on the back nine of the golf course -- this typically draws over 1000 people and, along with many of the other events, features kids' activities like games, small rides, face paining, etc. Among the biggest draws is the youth sports camp which is as brilliant as it is well executed. Drop the kids in the morning; pick up in the afternoon. They get exposure to a variety of activities and sports and get fed. Counselors tend to be teenagers who are well trained and lead the events; the camp is run by a seasoned professional whose approach is to sneak in ideas of character and sportsmanship along the way. The clubhouse and grounds (golf course, beachfront) are great spots for a wide variety of events including corporate outings, family parties, prom dinners/photos, and weddings. Through the years, Valley Lo has maintained itself well and made significant investments to keep up and improve its clubhouse, athletic center, paddle and pickleball facilities, and now golf course. It's welcoming and inclusive -- while it is a private club that requires sponsors, it's not a draconian and super selective process like some country clubs, and tends to welcome all comers. Economics are considerably more attractive than big time golf clubs as well. We've been members for more than 15 years, raised our kids here, and have come to know and love the team ("staff" always seems demeaning to this reviewer) and the membership. If you're not a swanky golf club person but prefer something less stuffy and more fun and family oriented, Valley Lo should seriously be on your list to check out.

Apparently, the center hosts many performing arts programs that include dance, theater, music and more.  When we were viewing artwork of the exhibit, a friendly elderly actor of the center greeted us while taking a break on a comfy couch.  We could hear music rehearsal in the theatre when we passed by. They also have education programs, youth sports programs, a full-service fitness center, classes and lectures -- all kinds of activities that help enrich lives of residents of not just Winnetka, but of the broader North Shore. When I read their Yelp reviews, I learnt that the center is even a popular weddings and events venue!  It is truly a versatile community house! As a privately supported 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Community House is not funded through tax dollars.  It's good to know that donations are 100% tax deductible.

We had a tour scheduled with Sahra, but it was moved to a different time, which seemed like it may have been to accommodate another group. When we arrived, the front desk gentleman was very kind, but we ended up waiting about 20 minutes while Sahra continued speaking with the previous tour group. She clearly saw us waiting but didn't acknowledge us or apologized when she eventually came over. Once the tour finally started, it felt very rushed. The entire walkthrough lasted maybe 15-20 minutes, and there wasn't much opportunity to ask questions before she quickly moved on to the next area. At the end, I asked if she could send photos of the space set up for weddings so we could better visualize it decorated. Her response was, "I won't remember, just email me--I had three tours today." We were the third tour, which made the comment feel dismissive. What stood out even more was that the previous group had asked about placing a hold on the space and did not receive that same response. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. After touring around 20 venues, this was by far the most disappointing experience. As for the space itself, it felt very small and somewhat outdated. The bridal and groomsmen suites were essentially small conference rooms. In my opinion, the venue may be better suited for smaller events like a bridal or baby shower rather than a full wedding. Unfortunately, due to both the service and the space, I would not recommend spending your time touring here.
