Galentine's at Tipsy Paint!
Tina L.

I know I've been here a few times already...maybe just never had a chance to review. This is the best spot for a fun girls night out, birthday party, or group activity. Great for adults and kids, anyone can have a good time here. You can bring your own food and drinks, which makes it even more fun! We brought lots of wine, rosé, beer and bites to enjoy while painting. Krystyna is so sweet! She gave everyone a lot of time to get through their work and allowed people to be free and creative. I'm going to try the pyrography next time. You can bring your own design and basically burn it into the wood. Sounds fun!

We had so much fun painting here on a Saturday! We arrived at 7pm and parking was full. ( Doors open at 6:45PM for 7:15 classes). I would advise to get there a little earlier. And obviously only the back seats were left but that was fine. We had a full class of 45-50 students. It can get loud. Plus it is BYOB =) We had 2 instructors. Krystyna and Jim. They were wonderful. Jim was the primary instructor but since we had a big class, Krystyna would walk around and see who needed help and also compliment/comment on our paintings. Initially, i thought what we were going to paint was going to be hard. But the instructor was great in explaining the steps and guiding us through the process. If you are like me and don't draw or paint, you will do fine! My friend who i went with does a lot of shading, coloring, and painting on a daily basis so her painting was very creative and unique. Oh! And everything is provided for you. All you need to bring is beer, wine or whatever you wanted to drink. The paintings underneath the big clock are all for sale for $10 each. I think those are great for office decors, kids room etc... If you are thinking about giving this a try, you can check on Groupon for discount pricing. Once you purchase the groupon, go on their website, click on CLASSES (top tabs) , find the painting you would like to paint, click on that. It will then bring you to the registration page. Click on Register (individual) or Register (2 or more). Under Payment Information Voucher / Prepaid / Giftcard Code, enter in your Groupon Code and it will take the cost of the class off. Very simple and easy to navigate! This was my first time coming here and I enjoyed it very much. Next time i would probably try to attend a class that didn't have 48 students (max is 50).

Awesome spot for a fun night out! Came here two weeks ago with my mother for a mother-son night out and we had a blast. We had a good amount of time to complete our painting and a average sized canvas. The instructor was good. He gave good suggestions and helpful instruction. He took a good amount of time explaining each portion and even came around to help each person.

My daughter and I enjoyed a painting night. My daughter is creative and I'm not so. We were walked through each step and BAM we created masterpieces. I was surprised how the piece came together. The best part is we had fun and got to take home our creations to memorialize our night. Would do this again for sure.

My final product with my own design on a cutting board/charcuterie board!

My friends and I attended the wood burning charcuterie board class, and I cannot recommend this class enough!! This was well worth the coast, and we had an amazing time! Krystina, the instructor and business owner, is such fun company, very patient, skilled and informative. I was impressed with how flexible she is with instructing different skill levels within the class. Krystina also went above and beyond for us for staying later than planned. We spent 3.5hours wood burning! she did say most people spend about 2.5-3 hours. I also loved how students can customize their charcuterie board. She has all sorts of stencils to choose from, and can even create your own for no additional cost. Krystina also went above and beyond with discussing how to properly care for our charcuterie board and even gas us a special cloth and oil to protect the wood to take home with us! Before taking our board home, she also sprays it with a food safe protective spray. My favorite part about this charcuterie board....you can use this as a cutting board too!

We recently hosting our team holiday lunch / activity here and had a fabulous time! Krystyna was a phenomenal host and teacher. We spent the first hour relaxing and enjoying food we delivered to Tipsy Paint. Then, we spent the next two hours creating our own custom pyrography designs - it was so cool. The space is big and welcoming, and it was neat to do a creative activity while getting to still choose our individual designs. I'll definitely be back for more pyrography opportunities.

Then blob came.

No. 1 tip: bring a cooler for your drinks if you like it cold because they don't have a fridge. Well, they do but it's not working. This is a fantastic idea. Who needs to go to a crowded and douchey bar for a girl's night and a drink, when you can paint and drink good wine all to yourself for cheap! This was so much fun! I know the most complaint this place get us the waiting time to start but I was here 30mins earlier than my group was supposed to come. Went on a Friday night, scheduled at 7pm. They opened the doors at 6:45pm and we didn't start painting till maybe around 7:15 to 7:30 pm. Some would be frustrated BUT, when I was there they had a session before our class and the people would not leave even though they had to go by 6:30. So the staff couldn't clean up and set up for the next class. Btw, the next class was floor 52 people and there was only 2 people working. Yah, not so easy. Anyways, if you're going to be impatient about starting, I suggest you bring 2 or more bottles of wine because you'll need it. And secondly, calm down you're here to paint. Artist don't rush the process of creativity! Main point: this is fun, so everyone do it!!! Oh and the workers are very helpful at making crap look like masterpiece. Just keep raising your hand ;)

We were supposed to paint Wrigley Field, I was only a few hundred miles off. .. I think that's what they called poetic license

I searched for hobby shops and was thrilled to find this place! Pay attention to your map / GPS…read moreapp because it can be confusing to find their non-descript brick building. There isn't even a window to showcase the amazing amount of gear and supplies that lurk within! Miniatures, models, dollhouse components, dollhouse furniture, hobbyist wood and metal dowels and panels, paint, adhesives, quilling and origami papers, pre-shaped small wood parts, different types of small metal chain, some beads, tools and brushes of all kinds, including semi-diposable microbrushes perfect for getting into those nooks and crannies. We also found a roller-skate and skateboard side to the business, and I'm seriously considering getting myself some roller skates, though I would certainly need safety equipment now. We stopped by on a hot a humid sat. The A/C wasn't very strong, so if you're sensitive to heat or closed-in spaces (claustrophobic) this might be a good alternative to send a proxy and have them video-call you from inside the shop!

It's a little out of the way, and it's a bit of a jumble. Most of these supplies look as though they sat in a warehouse for a long time. You have to be willing to look and search. I'm pretty craft-compulsive, and I bought nothing. Nothing. There were some (longtime?) customers in the store so they must know what they want. I was able to go down aisles, wander down corridors freely and no one bothered me. I suppose if I asked for help I would have gotten it. Sorry but this was not my vibe.

I spent a lot of time examining the artwork on their website ahead of time and love how they let you search by style, size and other options that makes the art buying process a little easier. I had admired a few paintings on their site, but of course nothing beats seeing something in person. And the same paintings I liked on the site were even better in person. I liked one, Uplifting Light, so much that I asked Chris if she could photoshop it into the room I've been looking for. She said an even better option was to take it home for the weekend. She was also super helpful on what frames would work best and I loved that they could frame the painting right in their store - and she said they could hang it too! I filled out some information, gave her my credit card # and I loaded up my SUV. Turns out SUVs are good for something besides carpooling children around.. Once home I was so excited to see the painting in my family room since I was certain this was the "one." I'm so glad Chris let me try it out because while I loved the painting on it's own it just didn't work in the room- the size was wrong, the colors clashed with the colors in my room, etc. And so a few days later I sadly brought it back and handed it to Michael who was very understanding about the situation. I actually did find another painting at a different gallery over the weekend that I believe is the "one" after trying it out in the room, but I will definitely be back to Art Post Gallery when ready to find art for other rooms in my house.

I would really suggest anyone looking to add beauty to their home or office at least stop by Art Post (or visit their website) because what they offer is a wonderful alternative to the outrageous prices and narrow vision of many of the other Chicago area art galleries. Chris and Michael are not at all pushy and genuinely want you to love what you purchase. Every room in my home feels bright and cheerful and makes me smile, largely because of what I've taken home from Art Post in the past two years.

The selection of canvases was incredible, unlike anything I've seen at other needlepoint stores. So many unique and fun designs immediately caught my eye. From the moment I walked in, Kristen was so helpful and welcoming. She helped me the entire time without being overbearing, and I loved that when I said I was just browsing, she told me to "just whistle" if I needed anything--it actually made me laugh and made the whole experience feel relaxed and comfortable. I also loved seeing popular canvases I've seen online and on TikTok, like the Tootsie collection and other trending designs--it was so fun to see them in person. I had such a hard time deciding on a needle minder because I only wanted to get one that I absolutely loved, and she was so kind to gift it to me. That kind of customer service is rare. Now every time I stitch and look at it, I'll think of Canvas Back and want to go back. They even stayed a little past closing to help me, which I truly appreciated. This is by far my favorite needlepoint store I've been to. I'll definitely be back! Thank you for your service! - Savannah
