Urban Margarita used to be our go to restaurant. But since the new ownership took we aren't a fan. We arrived Saturday at 5:30 for dinner. There was one table eating at that time. We left at 6:15 and there a second table being sat. An empty restaurant on a Saturday night says it all. The host created us with a smile and our server Nadi was excellent. As for the food that's another story. My wife ordered the shrimp tostadas. We were shocked that she received 4 medium shrimp that were cut to make it look like there were 8 full shrimp. Also, no sides were served. I ordered the steak fajitas. The portion was large but lakes flavor. I did appreciate the large portions of sour cream and guacamole. Again no sides of corn or refried beans, for me it was okay since the portion was more than enough. The prices were high $19 and change for two half shrimp tostadas and $26 for the fajitas. I would pay the $26 again since due to size but would order it due to a lack of flavor. I also didn't appreciate the young man sweeping the floor around our table as we were eating. I don't blame the young man I blame a lack of training. The restaurants decor is nice and comfortable. I wish the new owner the best but changes need to be made to bring in more customers. read more

What a great treat. A restaurant that doesn't give you your expected appearance of plate when it comes to Mexican food. You have enchiladas under sauce that are layered. You have cheese Crisp with four different dipping sauces and that's just the start of the adventure in this restaurant. Try blood orange brioche bread pudding for dessert and it will absolutely rock your world. They make a poblano fettuccine alfredo that if you add some shrimp or chicken to it it is unbelievable keeps that Italian Alfredo with this southwest kick that is amazing. The staff is unbelutably great. When my other half dropped your napkin on the floor by accident immediately a staffer came by not only picked up the napkin but got her a replacement and replacement silverware. That is absolutely out of this world service. The manager is a really great guy too and it was an overall one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. Totally recommend this place it's at the Loop 101 and 67th Avenue on the south east corner it's in a shopping center / strip mall. Do not avoid or miss or whatever Urban Agave because you absolutely regret it for the rest of your life. I had the Hatch Chili Nachos and they were delicious. The pork was tender, juicy and had a nice flavor. The chips were very fresh and crispy. The tomatoes and onion in the pico were fresh and crisp. My only complaint was these need beans, guacamole and more sour cream added to the dish. We also had margaritas and enjoyed them. They were tasty and refreshing. Service was good too. read more

We came for some happy hour margaritas and apps! Happy hour of course won't have the most variety of cocktails, but their house margarita was a strong start. Had we stayed longer, I would have explored more of the flavors. Their calamari is so fresh, and packs quite a punch. Their aeoli was great. We ordered an extra side of pineapple habanero sauce which made them even better. The bacon wrapped shrimp was excellent and hard to share. Pure. indulgence. Sky Restaurant concepts, you have ruined this place. This was my third attempt at eating here since you've purchased. 1. The chips were decent, but the tortillas served alongside the fajita was like a stiff paper sack 2. Guacamole tasted old and so bland- perhaps adding some salt and pepper at minimum 3. Queso, tasted like canned Campbell soup- full of tin flavor 4. Salsa, aside from diced tomatoes, and onions. There is nothing about it that would warrant calling it pico or salsa - grab a jar of picante sauce and serve that, it has more flavor 5. The margarita was fabulously watered down, zero flavor not even a hint of lime Perhaps find the chef who has some interest in preparing Mexican food. read more

The food is good here...very flavorful. The ambiance is nice as long as you get there early...at least on the weekends. At 6pm the music is turned up so that with the number of people in the restaurant makes it hard to have a conversation during dinner without raising your voice. If this bothers, you just go early! If you go after 5pm be sure to make a reservation on Open Table add this hip place gets busy! Our server Courtney was very sweet, attentive, & knowledgeable about the menu. I had the New Mex Tacos...delish! Hubby had the poblano stuffed peppers..so good! We also had a jalapeño margarita that didn't disappoint...spicy & refreshing! We came back in December, it was freezing and because of the Covid spike we ate outside...luckily they had a big (really big) mounted heater above the patio door and it really helped! Unfortunately the portable heater next to us ran out of gas and also it was one of those rather useless (but very nice looking) ones that has flames on the sides going up as opposed to having the flames above with the heat shield that directs the heat down towards you. Now, with Covid I know for a fact that you can't buy outdoor heaters anywhere in the country and we also went to a restaurant that said that all of their gas tanks have been stolen the night before so I applaud these folks for having heaters it's just that once things return to normal and outdoor heaters are available they need to change them to the kind that actually deliver heat and don't just look nice! Now on to the food - The calamari with aïoli was delicious. We even kept the sauce for use later. The skinny margarita was tasty - with being on a low carb nearly keto diet it would be nice if they could order one made with no sugar to which you could add your own low cal sweetener. Just saying! For dinner we had the stuffed poblano peppers with shredded chicken and cilantro rice. Very solid in their flavors. If we were in the area we would definitely return and if it was cold and we were eating outside we'd make sure we sat by that big, big heater! LOL read more

Urban Margarita is an American Restaurant that slants to New Mexico Fusion Cuisine. This restaurant is located in an Arrowhead area Strip-mall in North Glendale that is also known as The Upper West Side. This restaurant was recently featured in The Phoenix New Times as a Top Ten Best for New Mexico Cuisine in Metro Phoenix so I had to give it a try. They offer a very comfortable patio so we dined there. I went with the Stuffed Poblano but with queso on side at my request. I was pleasantly surprised that this was delicious! The chicken was tender and nicely seasoned, a little spicy. The corn tasted just picked and had spicy warm seasoning and the rice was buttery and fresh made. The fresh made queso was a nice treat. I liked that my plate wasn't swimming in cheese that is typical of New Mexico Cuisine. I thought this plate was sensible, approachable New Mexico Style..... My husband went with the Slow Braised Pork Rib in Hatch Chili Verde Special. His meal too was also moist and delicious. We splurged for the Bananas Foster Ice Cream Tortas......OMG YUM! It was CRAZY GOOD! They call it Tortas but to me it was like a yummy doughnut that was stuffed with ice cream and was topped with bananas that were caramelized with rum, butter, sugar and was just yummy-lish-us! The owners stopped by and asked us how each plate was and out server was pleasant and very attentive. So glad we decided to try Urban Margarita. We'll be back! read more

We absolutely loved this place! After reading negative reviews we were skeptical but wanted to give it a try anyway. And I am glad we did! The service was excellent, our server was very attentive, she was checking up on us many times. We had two rounds of margaritas, had shrimps wrapped in bacon and crisp to start. Both were really good! Shrimp- must try! For a meal I had Baja shrimp with corn instead of rice - loved it. My husband had stuffed poblano and I tried some too - wry good and flavorful. My in-laws split steak fajitas and they keep saying how delicious it was! And to finish I had a bread pudding bourbon flavor of the month - sooo good. I had the fish tacos. They were ok but nothing special. It was quite cold in the restaurant. Service was good. But what really irked me was paying $5 for a damn iced tea. I'm sorry, that's highway robbery. So with tip, my total was $32.25 for three fish tacos, rice & beans, and a tea. NOT worth it. I can get better food for about $8-10 less at many other places. My wife and I love to try restaurants we've never been to....Last night we went to URBAN AGAVE 6685 W Beardsley Rd Unit 180 Glendale, AZ 85308 United States We started out with Chips and Salsa....They were really good...then Chicken and Carne Asada tacos....they were really good. My wife had the house Margarita which she loved....I had a Coors Lite in a bottle......cold and tasty. Sadly, the service was terrible. We sat outside and no one came to take out order for 20 or 30 minutes maybe. Im not blaming our waitress.....Im not sure she was told that she had a table out on the patio. Our waitress was very nice and apologized for not knowing we had sat down. A different waitress brought our food to us....I asked for more chips and salsa, but they never shower up. The restaurant is nice with plenty of TVs to watch sporting events. The patio had some really awesome misters that kept the entire patio nice and cool. There was a TV and fireplace in the area where we sat. The fireplace would be nice in the winter eating out on the patio. Stopped by today on a whim. I was excited for the location, it seemed super cool inside, great patio. Everyone was nice. We started with a mule and blood orange margarita. Good. I'm not about to tell you it was the best mule and marg I've ever had, but if you take into account location, feel, and whatever else you want to base decisions on... they were good. We then made our way to the jalapeño cilantro chimis. I was saddened that chips and salsa don't just come to your table, you have to order them as an app... but hey, those chimis? Worth it. These were the true star of the meal. I feel they could have been cooked longer, but who am I to complain about tortilla, cream cheese and jalapeños. We then (played it safe) and shared the taco plate, Baja fish and carne asada. Tortillas good. Meat good. It's a solid taco. The fish piece was a good size for this taco and the carne asada somehow tasted like an elevated Cali burrito you get from that random taco shop down the road, but in all the best ways. All that to say, after tip this little meal of ours was $61, which seems like a lot for what we ordered, especially since we shared an entree. We do want to go back and get a little daring, they have this short rib taco that sounds great, and then they have flautas ($15 per order) that looked cooked to perfection and a giant plate of nachos. So again, will I go back, yes, but am I about to say "you HAVE to try this!!" No... but it's worth checking out and having as a local place to go for some good food. read more

I'm all about the experience and Urban Agave did not disappoint. We took our kids there for their 10th Anniversary. The food was great, the service by Camdon was "Johnny on the Spot"! Drinks were always full, he dropped by frequently to make sure we were all good -- he was Great! The Manager sent over some "free" desserts for the table (Yes....that is plural). The place was clean. My son and his wife, whom we were celebrating and had never been to Urban Agave said, "This is a keeper, The food and service were good." So last time we were here it was under a different name and owner and I am assuming management. The menu is a bit different but still a good selection and some of the previous items were still available. One thing I missed was the cucumber water! Unfortunately, today got off to a rocky start. We got seated at a dirty table excused by a party from the night before, then a wobbly table and then another dirty one. The waitress then came by and asked for our drink order to which I asked for a bellini and my husband stuck with water. She forgot to ask for the flavor of my bellini and excused herself by stating she wasn't awake yet and made this comment several times. She then took our food order and the bellini came out almost simultaneously with our food. Food presentation was great, however my husband asked for red chili but got green. The waitress took off so quickly and didn't ask if we needed anything else so he tried to be patient and wait and said forget it and almost dug in but I said I'll get someone and she, I think the new owner came over and helped out. Now mind you, they were polite and gracious the whole time. So they definitely displayed good CS! His new plate came back correct and hot and still looking and tasting delicious! It was enchiladas and scrambled eggs and I had the carnitas Benedict and it was very tasty too! Overall it was a nice visit. I think we will however wait a few more months before returning and hopefully they'll have worked out all the kinks. Until then, I do still recommend this place but don't expect perfection. Let me start by saying I only gave 4 stars because there was social distancing. I could stick my arm out and touch the party of 10 that was to my left on a long table and if the behind me or myself were to turn around we could touch each other as well. Now for the geeatness.... EVERYTHING else! The food was great. It was not over seasoned. You could taste the greatness and if you wanted to add a hot sauce or salt and pepper that would make it even better. Our server was great, she, Kory, greated us with cucumber water. This was a first and it was truly refreshing! She was patient, kind and helpful with assisting me in making a selection. The food was presented in a fair amount of time. Inside was full to include the bar seats. We sat outside and that only had 3 more open tables after we were sat. Great homey kind of restaurant. Dogs can also sit outside with you on the patio. Food was just all right. The Tortilla soup was unlike we've ever eaten and was like a thick creamy broth unlike other restaurants. The Shrimp dish had more of an Asian taste to it rather than Mexican. Fresh and delicious! Ordered guacamole for an appetizer. The taste was so fresh. Not overly spicy. The recipe has white Mexican cheese in it. The Urban Margarita Burro comes with your choice of protein. I went with the pollo asada( diced pieces of white meat chicken). The rice, black beans and veggies inside the burro were fresh and delicious. I added the green chili enchilada sauce. It was delicious and not too spicy.
