I'd say 6+ years ago Uptown Diner was a gem! It was open 24hrs, always the after party/club/night out go to spot. Plus they have a parking lot!!! Current day it's a bit concerning. We went in the morning on a weekday for breakfast and there was a sign to grab a menu and seat yourself. Almost every table was a bit dirty or dishes left behind. It almost felt like they closed the night before and just left everything as is and the morning crew didn't care because the night shift should have cleaned vibes. The floor/carpet was very gross. Despite the mess we did decide to stay. I ordered the upside down pineapple pancakes & a side of hash browns & my mom got the avocado toast w/ sweet potato tots. Food was good, pricey but good. They do still give pretty decent size servings which is nice. Our waiter was nice. They definitely need a deep cleaning though.

The food is great, never a bad meal here. The hours are great and you can't beat the service. Our server was handling over 4 tables and we never had to ask for refills. The ambiance gives the old dinner feel.

This is the buffalo chicken salad and waffle fries (Sorry for the bad photo. I figured something is better than nothing.)

Uptown diner has good food but it rather expensive. Despite this, their staff is friendly and this is a great later night option. We love their waffle fries, egg dishes (egg white scramble), and burger. FOOD: Pretty good diner food. Not much more to say here. It's a diner and lives up to the title. Waffle fries are highly recommended. SERVICE: Reliably friendly PARKING: easy on the side of the restaurant on Hennepin. PRICE: definitely expensive. And more than you'd expect. But if you're craving diner food, it can hit the spot and be worth it. AMBIANCE: We order to go most of the time. But the interior has a typical diner feel.

Food: The food we ordered was great. I ordered a pineapple upside down pancake and oh lord that was so delicious. My best friend got the spicy Cajun Benedict and it was amazing too. They had a variety of sweet and savory dishes. Honestly would recommend. Although it is on the pricier side. Most meals averaged between $15 - $17. So a good splurge meal for a self care day. Service: The service was amazing. We were welcomed with smiles and the ladies who were there were truly amazing. Ambiance: It looks exactly what you would think a diner looks like. I loved the design and the blue was very complimentary. The booth area was my fave of course and they have plugs in certain areas. It gives a nice calm time to eat. Atleast the time we went which was around 3pm. Parking: They have parking which was amazing. Didn't have to pay for parking either. So easy and convenient. I was truly impressed and enjoyed the food and ambiance.

We've been here many times, as it's my wife's go-to breakfast spot when we're in the cities. We usually have no trouble getting seated quickly, and the food comes out pretty quickly as well. Menu selection is good and I don't think I've ever had anything I haven't liked. The service has always been good as well. They also have ample off street parking. I can't say it's amazing - it's a pretty standard diner experience - the food is good but not out of this world. I did notice this time though, that the hotcake syrup seemed watered down. It wasn't very thick at all and tasted bland. It's usually busy and has a nice vibe. Even though I am not blown away by it - I will come back. If you just want a classic hot breakfast and coffee, and to get in and out quickly, you'll like it.

Ignore my fiancé being goofy with our personal receipts, Not worth the money, paid $15 alone for two regular cups of coffee and Side of Hollandaise, friendly environment and staffing but just not worth the money, I have been to real and better diners than this.

I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good breakfast spot. They have all the classics on the menu & the service is great. I have never had to wait for a table & the food come out quick!

This place never fails to disappoint...warm, delicious, comforting breakfast food that is honestly more food than you can eat..but did that stop us from snarfing our food down? Nope! If you're looking for a pick-me-up, a nice breakfast with pals, and hot and delicious comfort food, head over to Uptown Diner. You will not be disappointed. There is a parking lot in the back with a decent amount of space. Go early if you want to get in since there are restrictions due to COVID-19! (Not pictured: my group's appetizer cinnamon roll )

The gyro omelet, terrible just terrible..

The gyro omelet, terrible just terrible..they use prepackaged gyro meat that when cooked turned the omelet into a great grease disaster. The service was great the atmosphere was nice too..

The bad: Bloody Mary's were flat and expensive $13 each. No depth of flavor, thought we would give them a second chance. . Ordered croquette madame. Egg was severely undercooked - the egg white was gelatatinous and the bread way too thick, ham fatty and subpar, where were you Béchamel? I took a bite of my breakfast and he hands me a box at the end when I asked for the check--not asking if anything is wrong. Two bites out of the spring mix salad and sandwich. Bloody Mary full. $70 for a salad, madame croquette, slow service which is no problem. It's a tiny diner and around lunch time. No worries there. But uncomfortable dining service because we could feel the tension between the server and bartender. Again for me? NBD but my daughter did not appreciate this. The good: the Mediterranean salad was delicious according to my daughter. She had the same thoughts about the Bloody Marys. Super cute beer backs- pony miller high life. I brought the croque madame home and my son loved it. Went on and on about how amazing it was. In all fairness my adult kids loved their food. He did microwave it to cook the egg through. Yes I know I am picky because I worked in the restaurant industry for over 22 years. And I can make better food at home. I just expect a bit more if I am going to drop $70 for two lunch entrees and two drinks. Not including the tip. Bottom line: I would not go back for this very expensive diner that doesn't know how to properly cook simple things. Or chop veg. Or make a drink.

We found a table for 6 at the back and we all ordered some beverages from our wonderfully attentive waitress, refilling our waters as we ran low and was super nice. I noticed they took the tuna melt off the menu, but I ordered the Sloppy Boy instead, which I thought would be like a Philly Cheesesteak burger, but it was more like a Sloppy Joe. The meat was good and tossed in a sloppy joe type sauce. The bun was great, with it nicely buttered and toasted on the flattop. If I came back again, I would order a burger since all of my friends seemed to love theirs and they looked delicious. I did try an onion ring from one of the plates and it seemed fresh and crispy and really tasty. Price was right for high quality food, which I must admit, I was not expecting much from a diner started in the 1940's but it far exceeded just a "Greasy spoon" Not the best neighborhood and my pants stuck to the sticky chair on the way out, but it is a solid place for a lunch with buddies and our server was awesome.

It is the breakfast-diner equivalent of a crowded subway train at rush hour. This place is basically a counter with about a dozen stools, and they serve breakfast staples every morning. There is no room behind the stools, and yet because people think this is a fun experience they wait in a line behind the stools. They sometimes move the stool people to different stools mid-meal to strategically fill stools with the stool-waitbehinders. It is a challenging experience. The food is not good enough to make up for the effort it takes to be here. In the past I've gotten normal, acceptable eggs/bacon meals. This time I got Eggs Benedict with nice, tart sauce. The eggs were a bit overdone, which is fine if you're not someone who likes a runny yolk situation. I also got hash browns which, on their own, tasted like they were steamed in bilge water. Most people probably put lots of ketchup or hot sauce on them. But you're kind of there for the experience. And it is an experience of cramming yourself in with hipsters and tolerating surly cooks who urgently shout to each other - right next to you - about needed ingredients while occasionally shaming you for not waiting in line correctly. The ambiance is not the slightest bit boring. If this review doesn't scare you away you will probably love it.

The chile had a deep, rich flavor with a surprisingly good kick of spice that made the entire dish stand out. The combination of carnitas and chorizo made it incredibly hearty and packed with flavor. The hash browns deserve some attention too, beautifully crispy and golden on the outside while still tender underneath. Exactly how diner hash browns should be. Overall, Fat Nat's Eggs was a great find. Excellent food, generous portions, real flavor and more spice than I expected from a breakfast spot, in the best possible way.
