Went to this store to try to sell a lot of clothing that no longer fits. Name brand plus size items. Also had some great shoe options for higher end shoes. They took not one thing. They had minimal plus size items on the floor so I was surprised they weren't interested. They said might items were previous seasons. I came home and listed all 38 items on eBay. 5 have sold in a few days so I have a new option. While waiting to have my stuff reviewed I browsed the store, Because you can't make an appointment you just go in and 4 other people were waiting to have their clothing reviewed for purchase. I had a lot of time to browse. They have everything displayed nicely. They have a men's and women's area and lots of accessories including high end brands. They have lots of fitting rooms and a rewards program when you earn points based on what you spend. Their clothing price points were lower than I expected. Most things i liked were under $15. If you are under size 12 women's or a man this place is great for shopping, rather than selling. read more

First a new customer, called prior to going to know what to expect, packed my items neatly in appropriate boxes, bags. ( was told my items did not fit criteria even though I checked previously via phone call) girl was very rude, short, needs to work on people skills. Was rude to another woman who actually asked her if she was ok! ( to which she turned to coworker and mocked her, very unprofessional) Complete waste of time and I drove a half hour. *shocked reading other reviews right now* Not only are the employees @ Langhorne location super sweet and quick to go through bags, the store is very clean & organized. I go to Plato's often and the teenagers there are usually very rude, take really long, and generally aren't welcoming to anyone over 30. I had the opposite experience here today and even left with a couple cute items - their prices are really fair and the selection is great. Definitely coming here more when I'm in the area & after my seasonal resets :) read more

I will NEVER be going back to Uptown Cheapskate. The service was horrible. First I called to make sure they were accepting clothes before I made the drive over and the girl on the phone was extremely rude and told me to message on instagram and hung up on me. Then I still decided to go there despite the phone service, and waited 40 minutes (I was told 20) for the girls to not accept ANY of the two big bags of men's and women's fall clothes that they said they were looking for. The girl at the counter gave me attitude for leaving the store for two minutes even though I asked before I went and was told yes. Horrible customer service. I brought a bag of clothes here to sell. Many with tags still on them. Brand's varying from forever21, Old Navy, Fashion Nova, etc. they only accepted TWO of my items and offered me $6..... I'm quite sure the clothes they "donate" gets put right on the floor. I would have done better just being patient and selling on Poshmark! read more

I have been going here for the last 5 years. I couldn't believe the reviews. The Langhorne store in my eyes is hands down the best Best Buy Sell trade store I have ever been too. If you have ever been to an Uptown out west they are the same. They have the better and high end brands that are hard to find at most stores! Their sales are great. But Even when it's not a sale you can find stuff pretty reasonable. They're really good with clearing out the old and bringing in new inventory. So there is always new stuff to look at. Which is awesome!! And they also always buy more items than Platos Closet for me. Also all of the staff there are sooo nice!!! read more

I brought in very nice clothes, many name brand items, shoes still in boxes as well as unopened assorted perfume bottles. A coach hand bag and a few nice handbags. Once you say, will you donate if we don't take some of the items, that is their way of denying all of your clothes. They did not want to give me any money! It's a scam! I took all of my items back. very disappointed with my experience. I went in the store to pick up the $ they offered me for my clothes. Some young, unprofessional, cocky clerk gave me the biggest attitude because I wasn't aware there is only a 3 day period you have to pick up the money before it turns into store credit.. I get every store has their own policy, but this wasn't made clear to me.. I thought I was doing a good deed to donate clothes for people in need, but Uptown CHEAPskate were rude and unappreciative of the gesture and then burned me for the money they offered me!! I hope the $42 was worth this negative review.. next time I will just donate to goodwill or any other place, just to not get treated like a POS by their employees. read more

Plato's Closet's competition recently rolled into town and the concept is the same, if not worse. If you come here thinking you're walking out with a bundle of money, you're not. The most you'll take home is $13.00 or way less. Welcome to Uptown Cheapskate where even the name sounds insulting. On the outside, a passerby can clearly see a fully stocked store. On the inside, you'll be called out to by someone at the register "Welcome to Uptown Cheap!", who you need to look past tall racks of clothes to see. Next, you're informed that the store "is not currently selling, but only buying inventory." Should you intend to sell or walk out is completely up to you. And yes, they drop the 'skate' from the name. A worker behind the counter will instruct you to "sign in" on the iPad. Okay, but once you begin entering yourself into the system, the information portion requires your driver's license number. When I expressed that I was not comfortable with this, the woman behind the counter chirped, "This is because of pawn shop laws". Sound fishy to you? Same with me. On my first trip, two items I brought garnered $13.00. The six items I took on a return trip are the reason for this review. There were three people behind the counter: One girl with glasses, a girl with long hair, and a blonde with her hair in a bun. The girl with long hair instructed me to set my bag on the floor in front of the register so they could tend to the person before me. Look, even though I'm parting with these clothes, I will NOT leave the bag in a place where someone can trip. I'm sitting on this seat cushion when I hear the other two employees pulling garments out from a bag they were sorting and MAKING FUN OF THE CLOTHES. The comments ranged from, "Who would wear this?!" to "Oh my GOD, you have got to be KIDDING!" *Insert adolescent cackling and high-pitched giggles*. That should have been the customer in front of me, as well as my cue to leave. If this is the way they're treating other people's things, ours will not be regarded any better. When it was my turn to sign in, I was given a 25-30 minute sorting time since there were two bags before mine. That was fair and I left the store so I could run errands. Funny how the promise to contact me when the workers were finished sorting never happened. I returned 20 or so minutes later and the girl with the bun tells me "We're giving you $8.00 because we could only take two of your items." When I asked if there was anything wrong with the clothes, the "Trend Buyer" (girl with glasses) -or whatever she deemed herself to make herself feel important- stepped forward and said, "Well, I'm the Trend Buyer and I determine what will sell. We can buy this one" and held up a v-neck sweater. I mentioned that a knitted blouse in that bag was a set with the v-neck. Trend Buyer replies, "Umm, we didn't know how it worked." I had to tell the three workers that it was a tunic and SHOW them what the set looked like. I even went so far as to tell them how to style the item! How someone can claim to be so versed in style, yet needs the customer to educate the so-called "expert" is discrediting. One pair of jeans they told me had dirt on them. I was surprised because they certainly weren't dirty when I pulled them from my drawer. Another item was a brand new, unworn leopard jersey zip up for the gym. This other woman -whose purpose was for nothing more than taking up space- was draped across the glass display case behind the counter. She tells me, "Oh, that didn't look like it would sell." I point out, "This is called 'athleisure'. Everyone is wearing leggings and zip-ups like this; that's the trend." Logic would dictate that for people who tout their "trendiness", they can certainly identify the terminology. So I'm given the receipt and it shows that if I accept store credit, I will be given $8.75. Requesting cash would give me $7.00. I looked at the girl in the bun and told her, "You said $8.00 is what I would receive for two items when I came back." She quipped that "I said that was store credit!" No, there was no mention of that amount being store credit. It's only a dollar, but it's the principle. Then she thought she was being cute when she said, "I read from left to right and $7.00 is what you're getting!" Oh, and I guess we should give you a round of applause because you're so proud of yourself for putting words together to form sentences! Let's give you a gold star! I never glared at someone like I did to her. I signed for my $7.00 and didn't care to bid the motley crew goodnight. It was irritating trying to speak to people on a professional level who possess such ineptitude. They want inventory, yet as I witnessed, the employees will trash talk the clothing within earshot of customers. Isn't the point of consignment to allow *everyone* to afford luxury? Apparently not, based on how these employees decide to represent this company. read more

This place is a joke. Takes 4 short sleeve shirts all name brand Lane bryant and Old Navy. They gave me $7 for it. That's it. And when I tried to decline the offer the employee told me they process everything without you even approving if you wanna sell it for the whole $2 they will give you. I DONT RECOMMEND selling your clothes to them. They will take your items and give you nothing in return. read more

Four stars since this location is not yet open for shopping but rather for inventory-buying purposes only right now; my review may change once the store is fully opened. I heard about Uptown Cheapskate on a Pandora Radio commercial. We've had Plato's Closet in the area for a decade now and this place seemed to have a similar business model, so I wanted to check it out. Let me start off by saying that Uptown is definitely a step up from Plato's Closet - the store itself is more aesthetically pleasing, organized more logically and makes better usage of the space despite having nearly the same square footage as the Plato's in Fairless Hills. The store's appearance itself is a solid plus, but what truly sold me was the staff and customer experience. The staff here are very friendly and efficient with going through your sale bags. I received substantially more money for my clothes, shoes and accessories than I would have at Plato's - in fact, my first time selling at Uptown I received more money for my clothes than I ever have from any Plato's trip since Plato's opened in 2007-2008. Uptown also has the option of getting store credit for your sale instead of cash; the store credit seems to be about 20% more than the cash offer. I was really impressed and will definitely be stopping here first in the future! read more

I'm pleased with Uptown Cheapskate so far. They have been fair when pricing my consignments and the staff was friendly. I've had three experiences so far and they've been greater than those with other competitors. I live 12 minutes away from a Plato's Closet but I choose to travel to the next state to consign at Uptown Cheapskate. The atmosphere is much more inviting and I feel valued. read more

Great experience. I worked in consignment for 5 years and was impressed with the cleanliness and overall layout of the store. Very similar to a Plato's closet in procedure. Drop off items, wait for items to be reviewed and get cash on the spot. I found payouts to be slightly higher than Plato's, which keeps me coming back. Owner is super nice and answered all of my questions. Naturally they may pass on older items or items with extreme wear (which should be obvious, in my opinion). You're not going to get the items full value or what you paid for it, since that's not how consignment works (again, should be obvious). Overall: Nice store, good staff, great way to get some quick cash. read more

I have sold multiple times at this location. Each time I got less than I believe my items were worth, I took my clothes here today and dropped them off. Upon dropping them off I decided to leave and come back because I had other errands to run, the employee told me I had to come back before close and that people waiting in store had first priority. I went back at 7:30 to get my items. I never received an email stating that my buy was ready. The lady proceeded to offer me $30 for 9 items, some brand new (with tags and this season), I declined and asked for my items back. I was then told that they didn't know where my items were because if you leave and come back hours later the items have already been put on the floor. She asked me if anyone told me that when I dropped them off, they did not. The rational was that I had sold them my items, which is hard to do when I had not received any money for said items. If you wait in store you have the option to take all your belongings back, so why not put them aside until the customer agrees to the pennies that they are about to be offered. I looked at the website to see if it said anything about this policy, it does not. Upon reading another review I saw that a customer left and came back and was able to get her items back. So i'm confused as to where this policy came from. I understand that it was close to close. But i feel as though they didn't feel like finding my items to give back. All in all, it's very disappointing and misleading. I will not be returning here to sell anything again. I'd rather use the clothes as a rags. read more

Visited Uptown during their grand opening and was very impressed! The store appearance over all was gorgeous, well kept and clean. I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner who was so kind and excited for her store! The entire staff was very pleasant and helpful! They had a LARGE selection of Free People and a few Tory Burch items which are amongst my favorite brands and the pricing was amazing! I got a NWT Free People Dress with the original tags still on for $350 for only $19.99 you can't get anything better than that! I've worked in resale for 3 years and was very excited for this store to open! My only comment would be to greet customers when they walk through the door (granted they were busy and all excited for the store opening I can totally understand them all being busy and preoccupied but it would have been nice). Came upon this cool store today while I was in the shopping center near Panera in Fairless Hills earlier today. Why hadn't I ever noticed this little gem of a clothing store before? It was a much better version of Plato's closet. I lucked out and found three adorable shirts that I am putting away for warmer weather. After all of the incredible discounts only cost me six dollars and change! When the clerk told me the total of my order I looked at him and asked him to repeat the price!! Had I purchased these tops at a department store they would've certainly cost me anywhere between $30 and $ 50 each. Needless to say, I will be returning and recommending Cheap Skates to my friends and family. read more
