This LBS use to be La Dolce which was my go to bike shop for maintenance and repairs. The place now called upshift has pretty much continued what La Dolce left behind. Which was a good bike shop with good service. I've gotten a few bikes tuned here and they do a fantastic job. All the gears are sound and shift like butter they also clean the drive train making the bike look brand new. They also did free installs when I purchased the parts directly from them. There was an issue with one of my bikes they couldn't fix but I respect them trying to get the job done. They didn't charge me any kind of diagnostic fee which is super cool of them. I would highly recommend this place for any maintenance or repair. It's important to show your LBS some love!

Added a very cute basket and helped repair my bike!

10/10 recommend this place! I brought my bike in here and they were able to both install a very cute and practical basket and also detect and fix several major problems with my bikes brakes. I was so glad they took some extra time to take a look at my bike because I had been riding it around when there were some serious safety problems! They were kind, helpful, professional, and reasonably priced.

Best bicycle shop in the Bay Area. We have purchase two Bianchi bikes here. The service level is great! The owner makes sure you're treated like family! He takes the time to make sure your needs are covered, it's not about selling bikes. It's about riding!!! He wants to make sure you have a comfortable ride. The repair shop is full service. They can tune, fix or plain out build your bike. If you want group rides, talk to them about their rides. I will continue to shop here!

La Do Velo had some safety skewers in stock that I needed awesome staff answers phone even in the midst of a messy pandemy. Nuts! I had bought a beautiful sea foam green Raleigh pista, some years back and it was absolutely a beast on the road. Had a chance to have my son ride that bad boy and take er for a spin. He loved it! Staff are pretty helpful and customer service savvy and the mechanic shop is pretty helpful with tune up and maintenance service, too. Professional service and staff seem to be velo seasoned, as in velodrome racers from what I remember. Covid safe, large store, bike racks. Enso forever +- Cute and friendly dog walking around store! Covid safe. Lots of bikes. _It's that time!

Custom made wheelset and spotted and corrected too short hydraulic cable.

I discovered them when another shop got "de-certified" as a Specialized dealer and I needed a firm-ware update for an e-bike. Last year I wanted to upgrade my wheels for a Specialized Vado 4.0 SL e-bike. Specialized uses an industry standard on their rear wheels but not their front. I even called Specialized and they had no extra Roval boosted wheelsets through out the whole USA in 38mm (e-bikes require boosted hubs) despite having them on bikes that are available on models for sale. Doug made me a superb set with 44mm in the front and 49mm in the rear. He suggested using Sapim spokes and glad I did! I've put 4,000+ miles and never out of true. Absolutely bullet proof. Wanting to get back to an analogue bike and being on a limited budget I bought an old 2016 Trek Domane. It had an 11-28 cassette and a compact crank. I'm used to using a triple which are out of favor these days. An extender was added to my rear derailleur so it would take an 11-40t cassette. Much easier on my heart and knees! Then there was the wheelset that didn't fit . For several years Trek was using a front 15mm axle while no other manufacturers were. Again Upshift came to my rescue and suggested an axle conversion. Great consultation and execution! Bottom line: Outstanding mechanics that are knowledgable, competent and very fair on pricing. This bike shop is a marvelous asset for anyone that cycles!

7 speed cassette was really the place to replace

Last Sunday I was there. My bike had issue and needed to be fixed. I showed the issue to the person (a very young man). He took my bike and put it on his place. He immediately got to see the issue. But he told me that the bike needed to replace rear wheel and they didn't have the parts. He asked me to leave my bike there and pick it up once it's fixed. The cost was about $100. Since my bike was not totally dead and I decided to go to different store for possibly same day fix. I continued to a store off El Camino and they diagnosed it with different fix method. They said that the wheel is good, but the 7 speed cassette (see photo attached) needed to be replaced. Because they can replace it immediately, I decided to go with them. Took only about 10 minutes, my bike was fixed. The cost was less than $50. Based on this, I highly don't recommend La Dolce Velo.

My husband and I recently purchased bikes from La Dolce Velo. We've recently gotten back into bike riding and searched all over the Bay Area for a place that made us feel comfortable. We had a ton of questions and the owner, Robert, was so helpful. There's a weird "snobby" mentality when it comes to bikes and Robert and his staff treated us nothing like the other places we've gone to. The were friendly, informative, and just all-around awesome people. We ended up purchasing two Cannondale bikes and we love them so much. Such a great selection at La Dolce Velo. Check it out if you haven't already.

He replaced the rear inner tube and added a liner and sealant, plus added sealant to the front tire (I would've had him add a liner to the front tire, too, but he only had one in the right size). I'd never had the bike serviced since I bought it online 6 months ago, so he checked and tightened various loose connections. He showed me some basic maintenance procedures like how to lubricate the chain (easy when you know how, but as a biking n00b, I appreciated the lesson). If I need work done in the future, I'll be a happy repeat customer.

They are incredibly well informed, patient when I am persnickety, and do a great job remembering customers from one visit to the next - I'm always greeted with a friendly hello as I enter. The products in store are well curated - these folks stock the parts they ride and race on themselves. Whether it's little tools, pads or clothes, or the new new drivetrain - they have everything (and have ridden it to provide a useful recommendation) Most importantly - I have watched them treat *everybody* the way they treat the "regulars" - it doesn't matter if you're there to spend $10 or $10,000. I watched once as the shop owner himself painstakingly explained subtle details of how their brakes worked to someone who clearly had no idea what they were doing, helping them understand their options instead of just slapping an expensive repair bill on the bike and moving on. That customer left understanding what they had signed up for, why it was necessary, and confident their bike would be safe when it was done being repaired. The service team does an outstanding job getting your bike rolling well. I am a pretty handy person, even worked as a bike mechanic long ago, and yet when I brought my bike to them to bail me out of an issue when I didn't have time to deal with it myself, they returned it to me in better shape than I've maintained it myself - it rode like a dream. They also went above and beyond when I had a brake seal fail the night before a race, and got me ready to rock in time. Huge props to Shane and Dylan!

They responded right away with some quotes and just said to drop it off at any time. The fact that they're a short ten-minute drive from our place doesn't hurt, either. Dropped it off for two tube replacements and a basic tuneup, during the course of which they found a shifter was out of sorts and needed replacement. It took about three business days (they have a lot of work and it's a one man show) but the owner is very nice and keeps you up to date with the repair via text, including having you approve any new repairs, as well as the cost. As long as you don't need it tomorrow then I highly recommend "Got Bikes?" for all your bike repair needs.

I was in the market for some accessories for my son's bike and instead of taking the lazy way and ordering from Unca Jeff, I decided to do the right thing and support a local cyclery.
