The margherita pizza was extremely soggy and floppy, all of the sauce and cheese would immediately fall off upon picking it up. The fried mozzarella was disappointing as well, the mozzarella was very liquid like and would all pour out when you bit into the food. I have purchased from here about six times now within a few years, Every time we order we are missing an ingredient or food altogether. First time we ever ordered we got a side salad and it wasn't delivered with our meal. They had us wait over 2 hours before they would send it out again. We live just down the road. The salad was watery and mushy - never seen anything like it, disgusting. On pizza's the ingredients sometimes are missing, happened twice with meats and every time with dressing toppings. At first I just said oh well and continued eating. Today we are missing yet another topping the meat portion so all we got was a veggie pizza. The toppings are about 2.50-3.00 each if you add more on, Which means when the toppings go up so does the 15% delivery fee in which we tip. We also ask for a packet of Marinara sauce each time, and some pepper flakes which they advertise on the order form and it never arrives, not once. We also ask for Dressing toppings but have also never got it on top our pizza! These 18" Pizzas by themselves are about 25-27 dollars when you are Finish ordering. When I called and told the girl on the phone about the missing meat topping she said she'd ask the kitchen, then just said she'd take the One topping off the order. Thats all well and nice but we didn't want to be stuck with just a vegetable pizza, again with no dressing on top. These pizza's are way too expensive for upper crust to mess up on often. To always "forget" dressings and leave ingredients out. The Pizza alternatives in the area are plenty. There is an Otto's across the street, Regina PIzza, Blaze pizza, Oath, Rock City, Big Daddies, Greenhouse, the list of pizza places goes on which we have never had issues with, This was my last time ordering here. We ordered a large white spinach pizza with chicken and pesto and it was amazing! Was just enough for two of us(big eaters) though the pizza is pretty huge. Ever since I was young, all of my girlfriends would get excited when summer came around because they tried to convince me that they ate less during the summer and more during the winter. They told me that during the winter, you're less active so whatever foods that you eat will not get worked off. Also, due to the cold weather, you're always in search of warmth and comfort and they insisted that you ate more during the winter than the summer. Therefore, when May or June came around, they would all be SO excited to take up the excuse of not eating and going to beaches for days at a time. I beg to differ. I will never forget the day I sat down at Upper Crust to reunite with my sixth grade teacher. She moved to Texas and wanted to see the ones that she still kept in touch with. It was a hot day in June and I sweated my butt off as I stepped off the T at the Coolidge Corner stop. I didn't walk for more than 3 minutes when there it was. I came in, shrieked and giggled like I was expected to, hugged her and my elementary school...er...acquaintances...like we were best of friends and sat down. What are you up to these days? You look great! You've been doing what? That's awesome! You know how it goes. We ordered. There were about...hm...I'd say ten of us? We started with three, large cheese pizzas. As they came, we all took a slice and wolfed it down. Then we went for a second slice. Great. Four slices left, I was one of the people who grabbed a third. Seeing that we were all still hungry, we ordered two more pizzas. It came. I grabbed a fourth slice. Then a fifth. Out of pizza. We ordered just one more. By that time, everyone was pretty much done and were breathing heavily. I could see the droopy eyes of my friends and teacher, food coma settling in. I couldn't understand it. I could still go! By the end of those six pizzas, I had eight slices (a whole pizza) and was still hungry. Dissatisfied as I was and as much as I didn't want to make a fool out of myself, I'm not exactly sure why, but I just wasn't full yet! So I ordered one more pizza, just for myself. All of these were just large cheese pizzas and I blame the fact that they were thin crust which is why I was able to eat so much. The pizza came, the oregano, Parmesan cheese, hot pepper flakes, and garlic powder went on ("Hey, Julie, you want some pizza with all that crap?). As conversation went on and everyone updated everyone else about their crappy lives, I continued eating, stopping only at the right times to laugh, gasp, smile, or make a man-I-don't-really-feel-bad-for-you-but-I-don't-wanna-seem-heartless-so-here's-a-face-that-makes-me-look-caring kind of face. Yeah, I'm cold-hearted, but it's really hard to care when you've got an awesome pizza in front of you. Finally, I polished off the last piece and honestly, I don't mean to sound cocky, but it just wasn't that hard for some reason. I felt like I had just eaten a normal meal, not a gigantic, incredibly bad for you and ridiculous amount kind of meal. It was maybe the second to last slice that we ran out of things to talk about and everyone just kind of stared in silence as I tried to eat as fast as I could. I'm a VERY slow eater and we had been there about three hours and everyone wanted to leave, I could tell, but they were all waiting on me. Eventually, I was done and I haven't gotten another email from my sixth grade teacher since. I have never eaten so much pizza before in my life. This is by far the most pizza I have ever eaten (two complete pizzas), but I do blame it on the thinness of it all and the fact that there isn't much substance. I think that two of Upper Crust's pizzas would be equivalent to one of those subs/pizza places on the corner of your street. Don't overlook this oldie but goodie- the classic thin crust pizza is excellent as always, but what blew my mind is the newish offering of fried chicken. The Nashville hot chicken is just divine. There is no better fried chicken in Boston. The batter is light and crispy, full of flavor: the chicken itself is juicy and light! I don't know how they accomplish this, but it is magical. Pretty good pizza. I also recommend the White Spinach Pizza. It's a fun place to visit with friends as in addition to the delicious pizza they also have beer and wine. I highly recommend the Bollini Pinot Grigio ($8). It can be brutal getting a table at peak times, however. I recommend coming in a little before or after main dinner times. They do deliver but it is really slow. I've consistently waited over an hour for their delivery. Better to just go there and pick it up. Upper Crust is also great for those times you just need a quick bite. Stop by and just grab the slice of the day. I've never had a bad slice of the day. They also have whole wheat crust, but, personally, I don't think it's that great. You're already eating pizza, take the extra carbs and do some more time on the treadmill. Wow. Absolutely delicious take on thin-crust pizza. We got the Charles St, with fresh mushrooms and delicate but flavorful sundried tomatoes. It's not NY style pizza. It's certainly not Chicago pizza. It's its own variation of pizza, and it is fresh and delicious. Pair it with a Brooklyn lager or some of their homemade sangria. I know a lot of people have complained about the service and the long waiting time for deliveries. Well, we were only a stone's throw away, but like I said it was a holiday and very very snowy out, and our pizzas arrived piping hot and delicious (and in a very timely manner)! How is it that I have yet to Yelp Upper Crust!? I have eaten at 3 of the locations (Brookline, Wellesley & Back Bay) and am always impressed. We used a BuyWithMe this weekend at the Brookline location and got a large BBQ Chicken Pizza (not the Bub's BBQ, which is white) with Carmelized Onion. The crust was thin (I prefer a bit thicker), the toppings were delicious and it was hot, hot hot! The 3 of us devoured the large pizza, which came out to $19.75 (the coupon was for $20). That seems pricey for a large pizza, but I guess that's because it's "gourmet?" Show your Charlie Card though, and you save 10%! That helps a bit! We make pizza at home a lot now, so I don't frequent Upper Crust that much anymore. But at least when I do, I know I'm going to get good, quality pizza that always satisfies. This is NOT my type of pizza. Stopped by to redeem a coupon I received in the mail, but I don't think I'll be back. I know it's advertised as thin crust - but there was barely any bread to hold the very few toppings on my pizza, which was huge! I guess the size of the pie is a must because I needed to eat half of it to feel any kind of full. As I mentioned, there were very few toppings on my pizza so some bites were just burned bread, and I got char all over any surface that came near my pizza. The Upper Crust is a Coolidge Corner staple and if you're going to another pizza place in the area, you're doing it wrong. The pizza and ingredients are always super fresh, you don't smell like fried things when you leave, and everyone is super friendly and dedicated to making sure you're happy. Plus, they have beer! Sure, they push themselves and gourmet so they can charge a bit more for a pie, and I suppose I have to respect them for that, but the pie isn't worth the dough. If you're going to call yourself The Upper Crust, I'd expect the crust to be phenomenal. I'd expect crust so great you want to save it for last or gobble it up first because it's just that good. This is no better or worse than any other run of the mill pizza crust. Additionally, the sauce is bland, uneven, and uninspired. For a place that isn't using NYC water, their pizza rocked my face off! The crust was like a cracker it was so thin, but the handle bar (what I call the top of the crust) was nice and thick. Their toppings were extremely fresh. We ordered the MGH, and substituted mushrooms for broccoli. Their Greek salad was awesome, but could have had a few more olives in it. I had to call and complain that I had to put the pizza in the oven to even eat it, even though it was just delivered. The manager quickly resolved the situation by offering another pie or gift card. Okay so after a few slices at Otto, we dropped by at Upper Crust. Decor is much more traditional pizza place. Whereas Otto has the newer starbucks/chipotle feel. No fancy soda here, just a selection of Coke products. Server brought our slices to the table (thanks!) and they are HUGE. We had a sausage ricotta and a (bbq?) pork/sweet potato. First impression. The crust was very thin and a lot more dry than Otto. I didn't like it as much although my lunch mate preferred it over Otto's. The flavor overall didn't seem to be all that great. Starting from my impression of the crust, to the very plain tasting sauce, to the cheese.. just wasn't doing it for me. The ricotta was pretty nice. As was the yam.. both seemed similar to the slices we had at Otto with cornbread and mashed potato to add a fresh texture/flavor to pizza. I just didn't think the quality was up to par. My recommendation.. if you want a huge slice and are a fan of pizza made with seemingly unseasoned crushed tomatoes then maybe Upper Crust is the place for you. I, like Jenn S., am also curious as to how I have yet to yelp Upper Crust in Brookline. I've never really had their made to order pizzas here, only slices, which range from edible to very good, but never great. I like the thin crust and the rich tomato sauce that they use. The barbeque chicken pizza is also a boon - quite delicious, the sauce providing a nice zap of flavor. One of my favorite usages for Upper Crust it the ability to drop by and catch the end of a Celtics / Bruins / Patriots game and have a quick bite. 3-4 televisions hover over this very small space! read more

Ordered a large uncommon (bacon, pineapple, jalapeño) $21.99- lightly cooked. It was delicious! The fresh tomato sauce wasn't too over powering, the had the perfect amount of toppings and was evenly spread, their crust wasn't too burnt and was crispy (from past experience, they tend to burn the crust which is why I ordered lightly cooked for crust). I was hesitant to order since the reviews are bad but I was pleasantly surprised! I am taking a star away because they forgot the jalapeño and then just layered it on and it was raw... but it was easier for me to pick it off so it worked out! Highly recommend! read more

I've been buying semi-regular pizzas from Upper Crust for a year and a half now and have never written a yelp review before in my life, but I'm writing this one now because the service I experienced yesterday was the perfect storm of every bad experience I've had with this company for all these 1.5 years. Yesterday was impossibly, absurdly, comically bad. Like, I want to believe that yesterday must have been a staged prank. Dany took my order, and to Dany's credit, she was obviously new. 4th of July probably means the B team, which I was expecting, so that's okay. When I asked about the company's dubious rewards system (one point is received per dollar spent, 200 gets a free pizza), I was told that "oh, we have a new system so you don't have points now." These past 1.5 years I've taught several other UC employees that, yes, they do indeed have a points system. I'm accustomed to walking them through this part of their training but yesterday I was too hungry. We skipped that part. Long story short, I had to say my address once and then spell it out two times more for the delivery guy to still go to the wrong place. It took me ten minutes of repeating myself, of asking a prolonged silence if anyone was there, and of reminding an overwhelmed B team that I haven't payed yet to finally order a single pizza. But wait, it gets better. I live on a one way street, so naturally my delivery guy drives headlong into oncoming traffic to deliver my pizza. When I went to accept my pizza he explained that they have a new system so I can't sign for it until he makes some other deliveries first. I was just laughing and shaking my head at that point. Sure, I'll wait here while my food gets cold so I can sign your phone in five more minutes. When he returned he came zooming back up the wrong way of my one-way street to jump out and spend a few minutes hitting buttons on his phone. I figured it out for him, hitting whatever we needed to get me to "checkout." I don't remember my options for tipping but there were three preset, the lowest of which was 15%. I hit "other" and went lower. This morning I discovered that when I entered an email address for them to send a receipt to I automatically, and without being informed of this at all, enrolled myself in their newsletter. Ha! For 1.5 years I have probably spent as much time training Upper Crust's employees as they have. I still do think they make a good pizza, but after wasting over a hundred dollars trying to participate in a rewards program that, depending on whose shift it is, may or may not exist, I'm finally done humoring their comically bad service and complete apathy for their customers. TL;DR - Wanted to be a loyal customer, do like their product, but Upper Crust's consistent and comically terrible best efforts have thwarted me -- I now am resolved to never go back. read more

Updating my review yet again! One of the things I love is when businesses pay attention to their customer feedback. A personal call from the leaders of the company went a LONG way, along with backing up the things they said on the call/email. It sounds like the poor service has been on their radar and they've already implemented ways to improve (things I tested and saw first hand this week). Only giving 4 stars for now, but will certainly revisit and up it if service continues at this level! Again, can't stress that this is good quality pizza, and that it was just a service issue. Damn, this slice of pizza was delicious! I was wandering around Coolidge Corner, looking for a bite to eat before a film when I stumbled upon this cute pizza place. You can watch the dudes preparing the dough, right through the window, which I thought was pretty cool. I went in and was immediately greeted by the friendly woman at the counter. I said hi and noticed the 'special' slice displays that were lined up. The "seasonal slice" Bacon Ranch caught my eye, probably because I would have gnawed off my right arm at this point, and so I ordered a slice. The staff aren't too terribly fluent in English, but they totally make up for that with good cheer and enthusiasm. I simply had to hold up the plexiglass placard with Bacon Ranch slice displayed and she knew exactly what I wanted. And, they have wine! I ordered a glass of Chardonnay, which was served in a real glass! Such a treat when compared to some of the lesser establishments who would dare serve wine in a plastic cup. I took a seat in the little dining area and took off my coat. The nice lady soon brought my slice over to me when it was ready. OMG, it was huge! I wish I took a photo because it was so pretty! There were swirls of ranch dressing beneath the cheese and meat and the top of the slice was decorated with tiny rounds of jalapenos. This was totally what I was looking for before my film. It was absolutely delicious with a tasty thin crust and just the right amount of toppings. When I left, the cheerful counter-woman told me to have a great night. A bonus star for you! I literally dream of upper crust pizza. Every time I come back to Boston, I make sure to make a stop at upper crust for a slice (or a whole pie). The thin crust is literally amazing (I don't really like a lot of crust because the toppings / cheese / marinara etc are really the highlights of a pizza anyways, unless the crust is really crunchy but even then it can be overwhelming / too much) 1. We started eating here when the pandemic hit - didn't realize there was a great local pizzeria until then. We were so happy to find this place! Amazing pizza and flavors. We ordered several times in March and early April. We took a little break due to finances, and just tried again this eve. Really disappointed. The website is harder to navigate with the makeover (even when accessing from a computer), but also the order was made wrong (it's correct on the receipt). On top of that, the pizza is not nearly as elevated as before. From the dough to the bake, something isn't the same. Very disappointed, wish we had our money back. Splurging for $40 is a big deal to us right now. The pizza also arrived cold, but to be fair we got delivery and since there is a big storm - probably so did most of the neighborhood. That isn't factored into my 'stars' review, but it doesn't help the situation. I thought maybe this was just a bad day... but seeing the other recent reviews, I'm sorry to have to agree. We ordered two pizzas and a large coke at 6:40pm and paid $54 including tip. Got it at 8:55pm. Not only it was 2 hours and 15 minutes late, but it came cold, not warm, cold. We've been exploring Coolidge Corner eateries and decided to try a gluten free pizza at Upper Crust. One of us had a very bad experience with a "GF" pizza elsewhere in CC, but the GF Swellesley here was both terrifically flavorful and truly gluten free. The place is rather small with limited seating, but we were there just after 11 am and had no trouble being accommodated. An amenity that they have that we didn't notice until we were leaving is complementary chilled water, so no more wasteful single use plastic bottles. All-in-all a very positive experience, and thus highly recommended, especially if you are gluten intolerant yet crave a pizza. read more

Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the quality here. The Pru was rather bland, with chicken and broccoli that looked and tasted like artificial cafeteria-quality toppings.
